AccuWeather's Bernie Rayno breaks down the winter storm risk for the East Coast this weekend.
Transcript
00:00We have the potential for a blizzard along the East Coast this weekend.
00:06All right, a quick snapshot.
00:07This is where the storm potential lies.
00:10That area in pink is the possibility of rain or snow,
00:13but for most, with this storm, it either snows or it doesn't do anything at all.
00:19This storm is not going to have a large area of ice,
00:22and it's not going to cover as much real estate as the storm we had over the weekend.
00:26One thing that is similar to our last weekend storm
00:30is that the storm is preceded by another injection of Arctic air.
00:34Look at high temperatures on Saturday.
00:36The freezing line, high temperatures at or below freezing,
00:40moves all the way down into the southeast between Interstates 10 and Interstates 20.
00:45Now, we're expecting that storm to form in the northeast Gulf of Mexico Friday night.
00:50Here's where it gets tricky.
00:52Two scenarios.
00:53Storm scenario one is the storm is out to sea.
00:57It does intensify, but most of the wind and most of the storm stays offshore.
01:03There would still be some snow, though, especially in the Carolinas.
01:07Storm scenario number two is the worst-case scenario.
01:10That is, the storm forms, deepens, and comes right up the eastern seaboard
01:14and many locations, and even in the Carolinas, along the East Coast and in New England,
01:19this would turn into a full-fledged blizzard, again, Saturday night, Sunday.
01:24I want to end here.
01:25Here are the risks right now for a snowstorm.
01:29From Nova Scotia, eastern Maine, into the Carolinas,
01:33a moderate threat, still some threat or a low threat,
01:37all the way back toward the Appalachians.
01:39This is our façon.
01:40Let's start with the
01:59ano.
