00:00Hi there and welcome to the latest weekend weather update from the Met Office.
00:04Cold and wet for some places this weekend, a lot of cloud for many as low pressure sticks
00:11close to the south west of England, albeit a gradually filling low.
00:16But it will still bring some wet and windy weather to the south west during the morning
00:21especially with spells of rain rotating around that low pressure into parts of Devon, Cornwall,
00:26Dorset, Somerset, Wales as well seeing some very showery outbreaks of rain.
00:31We'll also see a continuation of the persistent rain into eastern Scotland, significant rain
00:36below 300 metres, significant snow above 300 metres, 20 to 30 centimetres building up over
00:42the Grampians for example with a strong wind, coastal gales in the far north east and coastal
00:48gales at least at first towards the far south west.
00:52In between there will be some drier weather, a few spots of rain always possible just about
00:57anywhere but to the best of any dry and bright weather western Scotland, parts of East Anglia,
01:03some cloud breaks but most places grey and with a brisk wind it's going to feel unpleasant
01:10especially where we've got those spells of rain in the south west and an increasingly cold feel
01:15towards the north east of the UK. With these blues pushing in with cold air across Scandinavia extending
01:22into northeastern parts of the country especially eastern Scotland but we still have low pressure
01:27towards the south west and that low will bring further spells of rain in on Saturday night and as
01:33we begin Sunday. One initial band of rain pushing through northern England, much of Northern Ireland,
01:39central and southern Scotland. That then ends up once again with some persistent wet weather across
01:46parts of central and eastern Scotland. Meanwhile another band of rain swings back into the south west
01:51early on and that once again moves through central parts followed by some very lively showers
01:56across the south and south west. Once more not much brightness out there but if I was to suggest
02:02a place for some cloud breaks it would be western Scotland, perhaps Northern Ireland but for the vast
02:07majority it's another grey day and with that cold air increasingly arriving into the northeast it's
02:13going to feel particularly cold in the east of Scotland with the brisk wind. Temperatures only a
02:19touch below average in the northeast closer to average in the south although with the wind and those
02:25shallery outbreaks of rain once again not feeling very pleasant but at least there will be some drier spells
02:30here and there through the weekend. Now for all the latest updates you can check our YouTube channel but
02:36so for now that's all for me. Bye bye.
