00:00Hello. It's fair to say that the weather this week is going to be fairly typical.
00:04For the time of year, it's September and the weather really knows it.
00:09Currently, the jet stream is quite active and it's running across the Atlantic and across the UK.
00:14And through this week, that's going to be driving various weather systems,
00:18which means, yes, there will be some rain at times, but there will also be some drier weather as well.
00:23And really, Tuesday is quite a prime example of that,
00:26in as much as, well, we wake up on Tuesday with low pressure to the north of us,
00:31bringing blustery, showery weather across northern areas.
00:34Further south, rain that will have pushed southwards overnight will be lingering for a little while here.
00:39But in between, we have some drier weather on offer.
00:42But yes, a wet start across southern parts on Tuesday morning.
00:46That rain clearing away, most of it clearing all but the far southeast by early in the afternoon.
00:51There are hefty showers there across Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland, Northern England,
00:56even into some parts of Wales and the Midlands, perhaps a few showers.
00:59But across Scotland, they're going to be heaviest, most frequent, with a risk of hail and thunder.
01:04Also, watch out for some strong gusty winds.
01:06Gales, gusts of 40, 50 miles per hour, perhaps in some of those exposed spots.
01:11Lighter winds further south.
01:12And with that rain clearing away, we will see some sunshine breaking through during the afternoon.
01:17And, well, it's not going to be as warm as on Monday.
01:20No, fresher air coming in behind this front.
01:22But temperatures nonetheless still getting into the low 20s Celsius,
01:25mid to high teens further north, feeling fresher with those blustery winds and those hefty showers.
01:31In terms of rainfall totals, it's worth looking at them because, well,
01:34we do see some wet weather pushing its way southwards overnight into Tuesday.
01:38With that front, a bit more rain perhaps than many places have seen for a fair while,
01:43with a fair amount of rain building up.
01:44But it's those showers across parts, particularly western parts of Scotland,
01:48they are going to be quite heavy.
01:50And so we could see some relatively high totals building up, 40, 50 millimetres perhaps,
01:55in some western parts of Scotland.
01:56It could cause a few localised issues.
01:58And with those gusty winds, that could also cause some problems on the roads.
02:03Later on Tuesday, we do see further showers for a while.
02:06But because of an area of high pressure that's building its way in, a ridge of high pressure,
02:11that's going to help ease things down.
02:13Both the winds will be easing overnight, and also the showers will be easing and clearing away.
02:17As well as that, with the high pressure, clearer skies,
02:21meaning that we're going to see things a little bit fresher, a bit chillier on Wednesday morning
02:26than some recent starts.
02:27So some parts of Scotland, low single figures in rural areas, less fresh,
02:32a bit milder than this further south.
02:33And many towns and cities, well, they will hold up in double digits.
02:37Weather-wise, through Wednesday, we have a fair few showers down those north sea coastal parts.
02:43Still quite blustery here.
02:44Further west, a few showers are possible, but they're generally going to be easing
02:48as that high pressure becomes more dominant.
02:50And there will be a lot of fine, bright weather on offer.
02:53In fact, Wednesday, really, for most of us, should be a dry day.
02:56And temperatures look quite similar to Tuesday, really.
02:59Low 20s in the south, mid to high teens further north, but with lighter winds,
03:03a bit brighter in the north, probably feeling markedly warmer in the south,
03:07a bit more cloud building, so maybe feeling a little bit less warm here.
03:12High pressure continues to dominate as we go through Wednesday night and into Thursday.
03:17But there is another weather system coming in from the west.
03:20I mentioned there will be a fair few of them through this week,
03:22and here is another one set to arrive.
03:24So, we wake up on Thursday morning, a bit of a fresh, if not chilly start,
03:30particularly across England and Wales.
03:32Even some parts of Scotland could be quite chilly.
03:34Some places overnight, before the cloud pushes in,
03:37could get to very low single figures, if not a little bit below freezing,
03:41so a touch of grass frost.
03:43But I think Thursday morning, for many parts of England and Wales,
03:46will be a bit fresher, a bit chillier perhaps, than on Wednesday morning.
03:51Further west, a different story, with that cloud, that rain coming in,
03:54because of that weather system, and the winds will be strengthening here.
03:57But yes, for many central eastern areas, actually another fine day on Thursday,
04:02a decent amount of sunshine as well.
04:04Further west, northwest, we have that frontal system coming in,
04:07so there will be cloud outbreaks of rain.
04:10Not a huge amount of rain expected, but yeah,
04:13it could be a bit heavy across western parts of Scotland,
04:15yet again, through the day as well.
04:17It is going to be windy with this frontal system here,
04:22and we're going to see temperatures similar to the preceding day,
04:26so mid to high teens in the north, low 20s perhaps towards the south,
04:30but lighter winds in the southeast, and with a good deal of sunshine.
04:33Again, it should feel relatively warm.
04:36That system does make its way eastwards.
04:40The rain, if anything, could pep up a little bit as we go through Thursday night into Friday,
04:46so some heavier bursts of rain perhaps across parts of Wales and the Midlands
04:49through the early hours of Friday.
04:51But it is all going to continue to push east and southeastwards,
04:55breaking up as it goes through the latter stages of the morning by the lunchtime.
05:00So a few outbreaks of rain reaching the far southeast, but not a huge amount.
05:03Generally through this week, not a huge amount of rain arriving in far southeastern parts.
05:08And then there's drier weather following in as well.
05:11There will also be some breaks in the clouds, so some glimmers of sunshine,
05:15and perhaps, if anything, temperatures starting to creep up just that little bit,
05:19low to possibly mid-20s perhaps in the south.
05:22And yes, a fair amount of dry weather to end the working week.
05:27But it doesn't look like that's going to last into the weekend.
05:30There's another system set to push its way in from the Atlantic in time for Saturday.
05:36So some wet, some windy weather likely to arrive,
05:40particularly towards the north and west further south and east.
05:42You are a greater chance you have of avoiding this,
05:44but we will be keeping an eye on that because that could put a little bit of a dampener
05:47on this weekend's plans.
05:49But whatever you're up to through this week or through this weekend,
05:52well, make sure you stick with us on YouTube
05:54so you know what the weather's going to be doing.
05:56Bye-bye.
05:57Bye-bye.
