Transcript
00:00As customary, the Rabs kickboxing franchise entertained both in and out of the ring when they hosted their ninth edition recently.
00:07The fighting contest, which was started by some school friends in their backyard, has now grown into one of the most recognized combat brands in the region.
00:15Our main goal and what we're expanding to is the rest of the Caribbean and Latin America.
00:20The beach event was our, I think it's going to be our trademark summer event now because we need to tap into sports tourism.
00:27I don't know if it is, how much problems we have in it, but where to fix it?
00:31Now we need to take over everything when it comes to sports tourism.
00:33Everybody needs to be coming to Caribbean for carnival and for Rabs.
00:37Now is it?
00:38The promotion signature Christmas showcase delivered festive Caribbean vibes mixed with high-level kickboxing.
00:44Fans packed the venue for a stacked card featuring local stars and international fighters from Venezuela, Salucia and Cuba.
00:52Several boats went the distance, with standout wins for Levi Solum Nicholas, Navin Baier, while Venezuela's Samuel Negrin secured a TKO victory in the 190-pound division.
01:03In the historic main event, Trinidad and Tobago's Liam Chin Choi, the defending champion, came up against Cuban standout Yuvra Preval.
01:10The first round saw an aggressive Preval test the mettle of the defending champion, but the second round was the great equalizer,
01:17as Chin Choi had the Cuban taste the mat not just once, but twice, reminding him why he was so highly rated.
01:25The third round saw Preval battle his way back in contention, setting up a tense closing few minutes.
01:32And the Cuban fighter would tack on some insurance just before the closing bell to give the judges something to think about.
01:37The judges would be swayed by what they saw, as Preval captured the first-ever Rabs heavyweight championship,
01:45defeating TNT's Liam Chin Choi by unanimous decision.
01:49The victory, improving Preval's perfect Rabs record to five wins and no losses.
01:54Yo, right now, my excitement level is on a different level because of what I saw tonight,
01:59the talent that Trinidad and Tobago has in terms of fight sports, in terms of combat sports.
02:04And I really challenge the relevant authorities to continue to invest in the younger fighters and motivate them.
02:10It's not youth camps, school, whatever it is you need to do to push you,
02:13because I honestly feel we have fighters that could compete internationally.
02:17The promoters say they intend to expand regionally next year, while sharing the secret sauce for their rapid success.
02:24Vibes, nothing but vibes, that's all it is.
02:26You can have the fights, but you must have the vibes as well to go with it.
02:29At the end of the day, it's a Trini promotion, it's a Caribbean promotion,
02:32and it needs to be billed by Trinis for Trinis.
02:34At the end of the day, you need to have the vibes to back it.
02:36It might still be some days off till Christmas, but for the fans that came out,
02:40Boxing Day certainly came early.
