00:00Speaking at the TTCB Executive Luncheon in Balmain on Wednesday afternoon,
00:05CWI Vice President Azim Basrat made some major announcements.
00:09That included the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, known for hosting ODIs and T20 internationals,
00:15now getting set for its first test match later next year.
00:18It will be part of Pakistan's Tour of the Caribbean from July 15th to August 7th.
00:24Comprising a four-day warm-up match at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy,
00:27the first test match at the Queen's Park Oval and the second test at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.
00:35I am pleased to note that the Brian Lara Cricket Academy now will be a fully accredited international venue
00:43capable of hosting matches in all formats.
00:47But that's not all, as there is another tournament taking place prior to international cricket.
00:52The second edition of the CWI Breakout League is also being hosted in Trinidad,
00:57with TNT Legions winning the first one.
01:00Our success reflects the depth of our talent within our system
01:05and the effectiveness of our development pathways.
01:09Building on that success, Trinidad and Tobago will once again host the West Indies T20 Breakout League
01:15from the 24th of January to the 8th of February 2026 at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.
01:22On another note, Bassrath was pleased with the efforts of Team Red Force in the four-day tournament this year,
01:28despite not winning the title.
01:30He felt it was all due to proper investment on the part of the TTCB.
01:34Our national team delivered a strong campaign, finishing third overall and entering the final round
01:42with a genuine opportunity to lift the title.
01:46While the trophy narrowly eluded us, the quality of cricket displayed by our boys throughout the season
01:54was very encouraging.
01:56Bassrath said plans were also in place to continue with the development of youngsters
02:00and the women's game in Trinidad and Tobago.
