00:00Trinidad and Tobago have qualified for next year's Pan American Cup in Uruguay.
00:05This follows their 6-0 win against hosts Peru in the Pan Am Challenge final in Lima on Saturday.
00:11Co-coach Darren Cowie was not in Peru, but paid close attention to what was happening
00:15via live stream.
00:17For him, it was no surprise seeing the Red, White and Black conquering the South American
00:21continent.
00:22I don't want to downplay the tournament and I don't want to overplay it too much either,
00:25but it was a tournament that we went into expecting to win.
00:30We knew we had the quality of players and even some of the younger players that we could
00:34have given a run out.
00:37We knew that we were head and shoulders above the majority of those teams and allowed for
00:42the players to have that confidence going into that tournament and performing the way
00:47that they did.
00:48TNT were unbeaten in the tournament and some of their big wins included scores in double
00:52digits such as 11-0 and 13-0.
00:56So what was the reason behind the team's imperious display?
00:59I would say the keys to those wins from what I saw was definitely ball movement and creating
01:05chances for each other based on the amount of people that we were able to get on the
01:10score sheet as well.
01:13And within our penalty corners, I think penalty corners are now something that's really dangerous
01:17for us.
01:18It's good that we do have that kind of firepower in our arsenal.
01:23Based on the success hockey has been having in TNT, including the indoor team going to
01:27next year's World Cup, Kawe feels more must be done for the sport.
01:32He uses the example of Peru, a country that was badly beaten by TNT.
01:37So Peru, for people who don't watch the live stream, Peru has two artificial base surfaces,
01:43the top quality international standard artificial base surfaces, and in about five to ten years'
01:49time they will be a much stronger team and they'll have a junior program.
01:53I'm sure that they're going to start up on all these things.
01:56I'd say we still are behind by not having that water-based surface up in Tagore to regularly
02:03train on.
02:04The victorious Trinidad and Tobago team is expected to retain home on Monday.
