00:00It was a night many would cherish for the rest of their lives.
00:07This, as the Brickfield Sports Club recently held its awards function in Waterloo.
00:12It was for the hard work put in, with the rewards coming in the form of medals and trophies.
00:17The club was recently registered officially as a non-profit organisation, which is a big plus for the club members.
00:24Club Secretary Ryan Rubin, who is also the captain of the League and 40-over cricket team, wants to make Brickfield the best club in the country.
00:32Three years we extended the term for the executive.
00:36You all saw how evident the work is that we did. We can't do everything in one year.
00:41The first year was challenging. We didn't have money. We took money from our own pockets.
00:46Now we could even, in 2025, give player contracts.
00:51This is the way we want to reward our players.
00:55In three years' time, next year we'll have elections again.
00:59Hopefully, you'll see the work and bring me back into office.
01:03We have a lot more planned. 2025, of course, my goal is to get some silverware into the club.
01:09Club President Robin Kissoon is on the same page, and he too wants to see the club grow, with opportunities being created for the future generation.
01:17We decided we want to have under-17, under-19, under-15.
01:23We want to have an academy to train people, which we are working on.
01:30And also, we want to be able to have a women's team, which we're also going to go all out and try to make this happen as soon as possible.
01:42Also in attendance was Viyash Nandlal, who's the Chairman of the Central Zone.
01:47And he was the feature speaker at the function.
01:50Some of the things we are doing to develop cricket in Central is look at youth development and club development.
01:59Those are the two areas.
02:00One of the big initiatives we're doing is our coaching development program.
02:05You can't talk youth development without talking coach development.
02:08So I could ask Brickfield, who's your coach?
02:11You might be able to give me one or two names.
02:13Then I might ask, what's their qualification?
02:15You might not be able to answer that.
02:17Well, Central Zone, on January 11th, we are launching our first coaching development program, the Level 1 program.
02:25Councillor for the area, Dubraj Fasad, promises to continue supporting the Brickfield Sports Club, and by extension, the community.
