The 36th Caribbean Broadcasting Union Media Awards took centre stage in Barbados on Wednesday evening, celebrating the very best in regional media.

Our very own OCM Group was among the winners. Sharla Kistow reports.

00:00It was a night of prestige and recognition as the Caribbean Broadcasting Union honored
00:05outstanding media work across 61 categories, drawing 551 submissions from 30 organizations
00:12in 11 countries. Among the celebrated was one Caribbean Media Limited parent company of CCN
00:18TV6, the Trinidad Express, Starbrook News, The Nation, and Starcom Network. OCM journalists
00:26collected awards and special mentions across several categories, reinforcing the group's
00:31strong regional presence. TV6's Cindy Ragubar Ticketing earned special mention in the Best
00:37Investigative category for her feature, Life in WB Harry Trace, alongside recognition for
00:44other local professionals.

01:00Trinidad and Tobago's state broadcaster, TTT Limited, was also recognized, earning three awards
01:06and four special mentions, while Music Cup honors in the print category. The top performers on
01:13the night came from Jamaica and Belize. RJR Gleaner Communications Group emerged with 12 awards and
01:21six special mentions, while the Greater Belize Production House matched the 12 awards with three
01:27special mentions. Host Nation Barbados also performed well, securing eight awards and seven special
01:34mentions, including four wins for the Barbados Government Information Service.
01:38The best social media content creator is in the production Taste of the Holidays, Pigtail Blaster,
01:46Christmas Traditions, Trevon Stout doing video, and Local Talent Reel, Michael Elcock, Ayesha Reed,
01:55Sheena Weeks, Andre Olten, Anthony Husbands, and Fabian Belgrave of the Barbados Government Information Service.
02:02The CBU said this year's awards attracted a record number of sponsors, up to 13% from 2024,
02:10reflecting growing support for Caribbean journalism.
