Shamli (Uttar Pradesh): In a chilling case of domestic violence, a man has confessed to murdering his wife and two minor daughters and burying their bodies inside his house in Garhi Daulat village under Kandhla police station limits in Shamli district.

The accused, Farooq, admitted to killing his wife Tahira (32), elder daughter Afreen (12), and younger daughter Sareen (5) on the night of December 10, 2025. According to police, Farooq first shot Tahira while she was cooking in the kitchen. When Afreen woke up after hearing the noise, he shot her as well. He then strangled his younger daughter Sareen to death. His other three children remained asleep during the incident.

After committing the murders, Farooq dug a pit nearly nine feet deep inside the house and buried the bodies of all three victims to conceal the crime.

The crime came to light after Tahira and her two daughters were reported missing. Suspicion grew when they did not return for several days. On December 15, Farooq’s father, Daud, along with the village head, approached the police. During interrogation, Farooq initially tried to mislead investigators but later confessed to the crime.

Police said domestic disputes were the primary motive behind the murders. Farooq was reportedly enraged by frequent quarrels and objected to Tahira visiting her parental home without wearing a burqa, which further fueled tensions.

On receiving the confession, police reached the house in Garhi Daulat village and began excavation. Around 10 pm, the decomposed bodies of Tahira, Afreen and Sareen were exhumed. Superintendent of Police Narendra Pratap Singh confirmed that inquest proceedings were carried out and the bodies were sent for post-mortem examination.

SP Narendra Pratap Singh said the accused remains in custody and the investigation is ongoing. He added that the police will ensure the strictest possible legal action against the accused. The incident has sent shockwaves across the region.
