00:00Hello, welcome to your latest update from the Met Office.
00:03Going to be an interesting week of weather.
00:04If you're watching on YouTube, why not hit subscribe?
00:06You will want to stay up to date with the forecast over the next few days.
00:10The pressure pattern fairly benign looking as we go through Monday.
00:14This weather front moving north during the night
00:17will bring a finger of rain across parts of the south initially.
00:20A few showers over south Wales, southwest England during the evening
00:23and some for eastern Scotland, northeast England.
00:26But here comes the more persistent rain, useful rain of course across the south.
00:29Could see some heavier bursts.
00:31That'll spread into parts of Wales, the Midlands and northwest England
00:34by the time we get to dawn.
00:36Much of eastern England probably staying dry,
00:37but notice this breeze picking up coming in from the North Sea.
00:42That'll help to keep the temperatures up overnight.
00:44Well, we've got clearer skies in Northern Ireland.
00:46It will again turn a little chilly with temperatures well down
00:49into single figures in rural spots.
00:51Not as cold as last night in northern Scotland,
00:54but here too will be well down into single digits.
00:57Well, we've got the cloud and the rain temperatures more likely to hold up somewhat.
01:02A dull, damp start though for a good chunk of the country Tuesday morning.
01:06Much of Wales, northwest England, southern Scotland,
01:09soggy and southern England as well.
01:11Some of that rain getting into Devon perhaps,
01:12but I suspect much of Cornwall will again stay dry.
01:16Not much of that rain across easternmost counties of England as well.
01:20It will be fairly grey here, I suspect,
01:21and there will be that breeze which will make it feel pretty fresh
01:24on those North Sea coasts.
01:26The rain could just graze into the east coast of Northern Ireland at times,
01:30but much of Northern Ireland dry, and certainly in the west we should see some sunny spells,
01:34along with Cornwall and perhaps Dorset, Devon and South Wales
01:38turning a bit brighter come the afternoon.
01:40The rain perhaps easing off a little on other southern counties of England too,
01:44but generally staying pretty drab for a good part of the country.
01:47That rain could be quite heavy as it moves north through the afternoon
01:50into northern England. Temperature-wise, 12, 13 degrees.
01:54It'll feel cooler than it has done with that rain,
01:58perhaps getting it to 15 with some brightness in the southwest later on.
02:01But here, later on still, through the evening,
02:04the winds will pick up again, and we may well see some heavy bursts of rain returning.
02:08Again, useful rain here and spreading into parts of Wales.
02:12The winds could really get quite lively as we head into Wednesday.
02:16Something of a clearer slot in between as the more persistent rain marches north
02:20into northern Scotland.
02:22Swirl here, you can see that's an area of low pressure.
02:24A bit of uncertainty about how far north, how far south it is,
02:27but it is likely to generate some heavy bursts of rain on Wednesday
02:30and some gusty winds, particularly across the south coast.
02:33But all southern counties of England, South Wales,
02:36could be really quite lively, quite blustery through the course of Wednesday.
02:40Turning more showery across Scotland and Northern Ireland
02:43with some sunny spells in between.
02:45Again, temperatures only 11 or 12 degrees for many places.
02:48If you're stuck under the more persistent, heavier rain,
02:50that'll feel quite cool, certainly compared to most days so far through this autumn.
02:55But we could, with a bit of brightness, get up to 14 or 15 Celsius.
02:59It's this low bringing the wet and windy weather on Wednesday.
03:01As I said, a bit of uncertainty about its exact track.
03:04Then we've got a little bump in the isobars, but that doesn't last long.
03:08This low pressure doesn't look much, but as it approaches the UK Thursday night,
03:13the isobars just pop out of it.
03:14A developing, intensifying area of low pressure.
03:17And as it crosses the UK on Friday, well, the isobars very close together,
03:21suggesting some very strong winds.
03:24Now, that has yet to develop.
03:25So again, could be a little further north, could be a little further south.
03:28It's one to watch.
03:29As it arrives, we've already got a yellow warning in place for the winds
03:33across parts of the southwest of the United Kingdom.
03:36Full details of that weather warning on the Met Office website.
03:40As I said at the start, you really want to keep up to date with the forecast
03:43as we go through this week.
