00:00In Argentina, the meeting of the National Network of Sons and Daughters for Identity and Justice
00:26Against Oblivion and Silence will take place on December 6th, 7th and 8th in the city of
00:32Buenos Aires, marking 30 years since its creation.
00:39In Palestine, 8 people were killed and 16 injured in new Israeli aggressions in the Gaza Strip.
00:56Hello, welcome to From the South. I'm Sophie Fernandes from the Telo Sur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
01:02We begin with the news. Stay with us.
01:15Venezuelan Vice President Elsie Rodriguez presented to the National Assembly on Thursday the Bill for the Financial Budget 2026.
01:22During her presentation, Rodriguez stressed that the document was made amid a special context characterized
01:29by an unprecedented siege and threat against a Bolivarian nation by the United States government.
01:34The Vice President affirmed that presently Venezuela is defending an unquestionable truth that was born during the Independence Wars
01:42and which was engraved in the proclamation issued by Libertator Simón Bolívar at the Agostura Congress in 1818.
01:49Rodriguez emphasized that Venezuela is telling the world today that it has reinvented itself,
01:55that it will not surrender to any power, and that it is totally an independent nation.
02:00In sustaining the truth of Venezuela and reaffirming our truth, everything else is a group of lies to be able to justify an intervention,
02:18and as it was well denounced by the President facing the countries of the OPEP and the OPEP Plus.
02:25It is a lie, a group of lies, to take the energy resources of Venezuela.
02:33In another part of her presentation, Rodriguez vertebrated that the nation's constitution of 1999 established the state-owned oil giant PDVSA,
02:44which could not be privatized or sold, and that generated the United States' biggest concerns and conspiracies against Venezuela to take over its resources.
02:53The constitution of the constitution of the 1999 where it was clearly established that PDVSA is a Venezuelan,
03:00and it cannot be privatized, it cannot be sold, and that caused in our historical enemy, the United States, well, the biggest concerns and the biggest conspiracies,
03:18of knowing that they were losing the control on the petroleum reserves of Venezuela.
03:25Releyes also affirmed that the results of the oil production in 2025 is a clear evidence that the nation's oil sector is recovering,
03:36and that it is thanks to the efforts of the Venezuelan people.
03:39So that we have been in a process of recovery of the petroleum production with our own efforts,
03:51but looking always towards the future with a goal that was set by the president for the end of this year,
03:58of reaching the 1,200,000 camps as he has announced.
04:05So this is the path that Venezuela is on, under siege, threatened.
04:11It is the way of economical recovery.
04:16Also in Venezuela, the head of state Nicolás Maduro emphasized that the Venezuelan people would resort to armed struggle,
04:23solely for the purpose of defending the peace and sovereignty of the country in the face of threats from the United States.
04:30During the transmission of his program Maduro lived de repente.
04:34The president endorsed the words of Venezuela's permanent ambassador to the UN, Samuel Moncada,
04:40which seeks to restore international law, put an end to unilateral coercive measures imposed on free peoples,
04:46and ensure that peace prevails in the world.
04:49On the other hand, the head of state approved the request submitted by the National Institute of Civil Aeronautists, INAC,
04:55to keep the vital Return to the Homeland Government Plan in place,
05:00which guarantees the continuity of repatriation operations and family reunification in the country.
05:06And also in Venezuela, communal organizations in the parish of San Agustin begin the traditional Venezuelan Christmas celebrations,
05:21in a context of family gatherings.
05:24Locals enjoy recreational activities organized by the communal circuits in the area.
05:29The activities are part of the Happy Christmas Plan, promoted by the Venezuelan government during this season.
05:36Year after year, the communal event reiterates the position of peace and resilience sustained by the Venezuelan people amid growing tensions,
05:44due to the military threat exercised by the United States over the South American country.
05:49Moving on to Honduras, this Thursday, Marlon Ochoa, consular of the National Electoral Council of Honduras,
06:02addressed the people at a press conference before national and international media,
06:07reading a statement entitled Electoral Coup 2025.
06:10Ochoa denounced that the Preliminary Results Election Transmission System, TREP, is a real trap,
06:18whose deficiencies prevent certainty about the results at the presidential and deputy levels,
06:23in line with the accusations of candidate Herixi Moncara from the Libre Party about electoral fraud.
06:29In this regard, the consular presented seven key point details, irregularities such as the elimination of biometric control,
06:37errors in 86.6% of the records, and the automatic transfer of votes.
06:52Meanwhile, the International Observation Mission of the American Association of Juries presented a preliminary report
06:58on its work in the general elections in Honduras.
07:01The report highlighted the extreme seriousness of the external interference in the Honduran electoral process,
07:07particularly the statements made by the President of the United States and the President of Argentina,
07:12which have placed the democratic legitimacy of the process in crisis
07:16and constituted a flawed violation of the Honduran people's rights to self-determination.
07:21Likewise, the Mission Express is deep constrained regarding the leaks that occurred within the National Electoral Council,
07:27which were detailed in the report and could distort the legitimacy of the electoral process.
07:34Furthermore, according to Honduran electoral law, the electoral authority has 30 days after election day
07:40to issue a ruling with the official declaration of the winner of the presidential elections,
07:45a deadline that expires on December 30th.
07:58We are perhaps in the least transparent election in our democratic history,
08:06and I believe that this election will be remembered in history,
08:11not only for what we are seeing through what is taking place in the disclosure system,
08:18not only because of the vote-buying that occurred on election day,
08:25not only because of the intimidation to which thousands of people were subjected in all the towns of Honduras,
08:37but also it is an untransparent and fraudulent election
08:46because of the vulgar foreign intervention that has existed.
08:55Never in the history of the Latin American region there has been such manipulation of an election as has occurred in this election.
09:08We are faced with the most manipulated election in our history,
09:14surpassing even the 2013-2017 election.
09:19To the Honduran people, what I can tell you is that you can expect absolute transparency from me.
09:26And now we have a short break coming up.
09:29But first, remember you can join us on TikTok at Ellosur English,
09:32where you will find news in different formats, news updates and more.
09:35We'll be right back. Stay with us.
09:49Welcome back to From the South.
09:51And we go to Argentina,
09:53where the Meeting for the National Network of Sons and Daughters of Identity and Justice Against Oblivion and Silence
10:00will take place on December 6th, 7th and 8th in the city of Buenos Aires, marking 30 years since its creation.
10:08The event, which brings together regional representatives from across the country,
10:13will be the ultimate forum for debate, deliberation and expression
10:17that has historically sustained this space for the struggle for memory, truth and justice.
10:22As a result of the activities that will be carried out, plenary sessions and assemblies,
10:27a consensus document will be drafted and subsequently made public.
10:3121% of Argentine industrial companies reduced their workforce in October due to a drop in production,
10:38according to the quarterly survey by the Argentine Industrial Union resource center.
10:44In addition, 23.5% adjusted work shifts and 7.7% resorted to suspensions, reflecting an upward trend over the last five quarters.
10:53The report shows that the percentage of companies increasing the workforce has been declining since October 2024.
11:02In October, the industrial performance monitor fell 5.2 points from the previous year, standing at 43.8 points.
11:11The closure of these companies led to the loss of 276,624 jobs, 55,941 of which were in the industry.
11:24The proposed labor reform was not generated new jobs, but has accelerated layoffs.
11:43Moving on to Chile, human rights defenders condemned the proposal by far-right presidential candidate José Antonio Cast
11:58to release prisoners convicted in Chile for crimes against humanity.
12:03The proposal to pardon human rights violators represents a painful step backwards and a direct affront to victims and their families, they warn.
12:13The presidential candidate is in favor of pardoning prisoners over the age of 70 with terminal illnesses, such as those in Punta Peuco prison.
12:22Miguel Krasnov, sentenced to more than 1,000 years in prison for crimes committed during the Pinochet regime, is being held there.
12:31The statement words that any attempt to reverse court rulings or seek input will only depend on Chile's wounds.
12:38While the Trump administration lies about Latin American government's alleged connection to drug trafficking gangs,
12:53the Brazilian government has just discovered that Brazil's drug trafficking gangs are laundering billions of dollars in Delaware,
13:01home state of former President Joe Biden.
13:04Our correspondent Brian Meir has more.
13:08In the past month, the Brazilian Federal Police has executed over 100 arrest warrants and frozen 38 billion reais in illicit assets,
13:17the equivalent of 7.5 billion US dollars in a national investigation into drug trafficking groups.
13:24This week, Finance Minister Fernando Haddad announced these groups are laundering billions of dollars of drug money in the United States.
13:32I'm talking about this issue because it has spilled across international borders.
13:41Attorney General Ricardo Lewandowski and I have spoken with President Lula on the need for him to include fighting organized crime as a topic in his negotiations with the United States.
13:52Because they are using the state of Delaware, which is a tax haven in the United States, as a headquarters for tax evasion and money laundering operations.
14:07Shortly after Minister Haddad made the announcement on Tuesday, President Lula had a 40-minute call with US President Donald Trump.
14:15During the conversation, he asked the US government for support investigating financial crimes committed by organized crime groups in the United States.
14:23Afterwards, Brazil's foreign ministry formalized the request in an official communication and a US government official off the record indicated that there is a good chance they will honor it.
14:33The entire current US government narrative about the need to fight international drug trafficking, which it labels narcoterrorism, is based on extreme hypocrisy.
14:43One of the signs of this is that until very recently, the US hadn't shown any concern over the huge sums of money sender by Brazilian criminal organizations for laundering and arms purchases.
14:58The question remains, if the US is so concerned about drug trafficking that it's murdered 80 people in small boats off the coast of Venezuela,
15:08why did it take a foreign government to inform them that drug trafficking groups are laundering billions of dollars in their country?
15:15Brian Meir, Telesur, Recife.
15:19In Cuba, the 46th edition of the International Festival of the New Latin American Cinema begins in Havana and will take place in all cinemas of the capital,
15:45from Thursday the 4th until the 14th of December.
15:49This Thursday, the presidents and members of the juries that will decide which films will win the Coral Awards were announced.
15:57The 46th festival will feature a selection of 222 works from 42 countries, including Mexico, Argentina, Brazil and Colombia.
16:06This year, Mexico is the guest of honor and will receive the Coral Honor Award for the 80th anniversary of the Mexican studio Churubusco.
16:14A section dedicated to the cinema of the BRICS countries, an alliance that Cuba recently joined is also expected to be presented.

16:51Final short break, but we'll be right back with more from the South. Don't go away.
16:56Israeli aggression continues in the Gaza Strip, despite the ceasefire agreement, with eight Palestinians killed and 16 injured in the last 24 hours.
17:03According to local health authorities, rescue and civil defense teams are still unable to reach several victims trapped beneath destroyed buildings and along roadways due to ongoing bombardment and restricted access.
17:16Meanwhile, since the ceasefire was declared on October 10, 2025, periodic Israeli attacks have killed 366 and injured 938 Palestinians, while 619 bodies have been found beneath the debris.
17:31This brings the total death toll since the latest escalation of the conflict on October 2023 to 70,125 with 171,015 others injured.
17:56Also in Palestine, an Israeli bombing leaves six deaths and dozens injured in a camp for displaced people in Hanjunis.
18:13The bombing, which occurred near the Kuwaiti Field Hospital, adds to their strikes, bombings and shootings carried out by the Israeli regime amidst in humanitarian truce.
18:23In this regard, the Palestinian authorities denounced Israel's systematic violations of the peace agreement.
18:29Meanwhile, civil defense personnel arrived at the scene to carry the rescue operations and transport the victims.
18:43For its part, the government of Palestine demanded that the Israeli regime reopen the borders of the Gaza Strip and allow the entry of humanitarian aid.
18:50The Palestinian executive emphasized that the amounts of humanitarian aid entering the Palestinian enclave are insufficient to meet the needs of the population living in the territory.
19:00Furthermore, it is highlighted that in recent weeks at least 287 trucks have entered.
19:06However, the Gaza Strip needs at least 1,008 vehicles every 24 hours.
19:10In light of this, the Palestinian government urges the international community and the United Nations to take the necessary measures to pressure Israel and compelled it to reopen the border crossings and allow the entry of humanitarian aid in a safe and regular manner.
19:27Another news on Thursday, Israeli war prints carried out airstrikes on several villages in southern Lebanon, just a day after holding the first direct talks in decades between Israeli and Lebanese civilian leaders.
19:48The attacks targeted residential buildings across the towns of Maruna, Shba, Al-Mahdel, and Rashid, damaging civilian infrastructure and triggering fires.
20:00In addition, an Israeli drone reportedly dropped a stone grenade on the Nakura shoreline earlier in the day.
20:07According to the Lebanese House Ministry, at least 335 people have been killed, and 973 injured by the Zionist military since a ceasefire took effect on November of 2020.
20:18Under the agreement, Tel Aviv was supposed to withdraw from southern Lebanon on January, but instead only partially pulled out and continues to maintain a military presence at five border outposts.
20:31In other news, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomes Russian Minister Vladimir Putin with the demonstrating bilateral cooperation ties.
20:48During the visit, President Putin described India as a strategic and reliable partner for Russia in the field of defense.
20:54In his statements to an Indian media outlet, Putin emphasized that bilateral cooperation in the energy sector is not affected by the political situation.
21:04Also, President Putin stated that Russia and India have many interesting and future-oriented areas of cooperation, including artificial intelligence.
21:12Putin's visit will last until Friday, December 5th, for the 27th India-Russia summit.
21:19And like this, we have come to the end of this news brief.
