00:00Honduras has entered the so-called electoral silence ahead of the November 3 general elections.
00:24The world commemorates the International Day of the Elimination of Violence Against Women
00:28on November 25, with social mobilizations and rallies.
00:3835 Palestinians were detained in the occupied West Bank in raids by the Israeli army, while
00:43thousands are forced to displace.
00:52Hello, welcome to From the South, I'm Sofia Fernanda from Nadella Sur Studios in Havana,
01:12Cuba.
01:13We begin with the news.
01:14Honduras has entered the so-called electoral silence, a period said safe for citizens to
01:30reflect before voting in the general elections on Sunday, November 30.
01:34The election campaign of the parties competing for the nation's leadership for the next four
01:39years has come to an end, giving ways to five days, in which more than six million registered
01:45voters will decide who to vote for.
01:47This regulation marks the end of mass rallies and prohibits all forms of propaganda in the
01:52streets, on the radio, television and digital media.
01:55According to the National Electoral Council, failure to comply with this law will result
02:00in penalties of up to 50 minimum wages for violators.
02:29Today, on our Central American production on Honduras on the Move, our special correspondent,
02:35Roberto Uopresa, takes us to the Department of El Paraíso, located in eastern Honduras.
02:42There he witnessed first-hand one of the government programs that is changing the lives of thousands
02:47of school children.
02:48Let's see what it's all about.
02:50The striking colonial architecture adorns the small town park in the Central Department
02:59of El Paraíso on the border with Nicaragua. Amidst mountains of pine trees is the small
03:04school of the villages of Los Tablones. The bus of children's welcomes us. These little
03:09school children benefit from the government's school feeding program, which not only fills their
03:14stomachs, but also their classrooms.
03:21This year, we increased enrollment for school lunches because many parents cannot afford to
03:27put food on their lunch tables, so they do not send their children to school. That's why
03:32all the children are excited at school, thinking about what they'll have for a snack dinner
03:37day.
03:42From the classroom to recess, and while the children play, the fire is lit in this small kitchen
03:48to prepare their meals. The government delivers the packages and the teachers together with
03:53the community, organize the preparation.
04:00School meals are very important here because the children are from low-income families. This
04:04meal is a delight for them because even though it is rice and beans, they are happy to receive
04:09it every day. They are not picky eaters at all.
04:13They are very happy because when they leave school, they happily go to the kitchen to receive
04:19their meal, and I have it all ready for them.
04:24Children cultivate the school gardens, which produce is also used to prepare food and variety
04:29dishes. The long-awaited moment arrived. Today's menu includes tamales with fresh tomato salad
04:38and juice.
04:41They have a menu, and we make it according to what the parents can afford. If there are days
04:46when the parents have spaghetti to give, then they make spaghetti, they make chicken, and
04:50the children are delighted. Anything the children want to eat, they are fascinated here.
04:55And what do they feed you?
04:58Arroz con leche, frijoles con...
05:01Rice pudding, beans and rice, chicken and soup.
05:05Menuda.
05:06Do you like the food a lot? Yes.
05:09This wonderful experience is replicated in hundreds of schools throughout the country. The National School
05:15Feeding Programme is one of the largest and most important social initiatives, financed
05:20by the government's funds.
05:25These are funds from the taxes of every Honduran citizen, and this is something that needs to
05:32be looked into in depth so that people know that they have to pay these taxes in order
05:37to benefit all these people. These are children who walk up to two hours to get to school, but
05:43they know they will have a warm meal made with love because it is made by their mother's hands.
05:58The coordinators affirm that this program guarantees children a daily rotation of nutritionally balanced foods.
06:04It also strengthens locals' economy by purchasing vegetables, fruit, eggs, dairy products and other foods.
06:11According to official records, 2,649 schools nationwide benefit from this program, which means that
06:21more than 1.2 million school children receive free meals.
06:28Roberto Hugo Pesa, Telesur, El Paraíso, Honduras.
06:32In other news, Mexican President Clay DeShambon received Tuesday her Honduran condor para Xiomara Castro
06:38at the National Palace, where both heads of state were expected to hold a private meeting.
06:43The Mexican President was accompanied by his Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Juan Ramón de la Fuente,
06:48the Under Secretary of Latin America and the Caribbean of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Raquel Cerur-Smeque,
06:54and the Head of the Office of the Presidency of the Republic, Lázaro Cárdenas Patel.
06:59On the other hand, Castro's delegation including the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Javier Efraín Busoto,
07:06the President's private secretary, Héctor Manuel Zelaya Castro,
07:09and the Honduran ambassador to Mexico, Sonia Leticia Cruz Lozano.
07:14The Honduran leader's visit comes just a few days before the general elections in her country,
07:19scheduled for November 3.
07:21Over the past four years, the governments of Mexico and Honduras have strengthened the bilateral relations,
07:34including technical and scientific assistance in the agri-food sector.
07:38The leaders of both countries have boosted the regional integration capacity
07:42and contributed to diversifying trade destinations.
07:45In this regard, Mexico's agri-food and fisheries trade balance with Honduras showed
07:50a surplus of 94 million dollars.

15:19In Venezuela, President Nicolas Modelo urged the people to defend the country's
15:23sovereignty against foreign threats, reaffirming Bolívar's anti-imperialist legacy.
15:28The Venezuelan president asserted that failure is not an option in the current situation that
15:33faces the country, which he described as decisive.

15:41where the people accompanied the procession of Peru's Bicentennial Sword, a symbol of the
15:46struggle against colonialism in the region.
15:49The other state also affirmed that there are no excuses for any sector, civil, political,
15:54or military, not to fulfill its duty to defend the country.
15:57Finally, here's the Venezuelans and the security forces to increase their capacities to overcome
16:03the current challenges the Republic has to face.
16:10To all those who have command responsibilities, to those who have command responsibilities in
16:20military units, in the Bolivarian militia, those who are heads of Redi, Zodi, Adi, those who
16:27have command responsibilities in the police forces, Bolivarian National Police, those who
16:43have command responsibilities in the peace zones, those who are spokespersons, and leaders

17:08Those who have command in the 235,000 Bolivarian integral base committees, those student leaders,
17:15workers, peasants, fishermen, fisherwomen, to all our people, with responsibility and love,
17:23I say to you.
17:35If Oliver was able to build seven army corps to free all of South America, and guarantee
17:40the consolidation of the independence of Central America, and beyond, we must be able to defend
17:46every inch of this blessed land from any imperialist threat or aggression, wherever it comes from,
17:52and whenever it comes.
17:59Likewise President Nicolas Maduro affirmed that the unity of the Great Homeland would return
18:03to achieve the definitive emancipation of the peoples of South America.
18:12Soldiers of the Great Homeland, when the clarion call of the homeland sounds, even a mother's
18:18tears are silenced.
18:19We were free because we were united under a single command, under a single dream, under
18:27a single banner, in a single army.
18:29The times of Bolivar have returned and the times of the Great Homeland, be assured of what
18:42I am saying, and absolutely certain, the times of the Great Homeland will return, sooner rather
18:49than later, for the emancipation of the oppressed peoples of our South America.
18:56Israeli occupation forces launched on Tuesday a large-scale detention campaign across the
19:23occupied West Bank, detaining at least 35 Palestinians.

19:37Meanwhile, settler violence intensified early Tuesday, with Israeli policy forcing thousands
19:43of Palestinians from their homes, in stark defiance of international law.

20:22established in November 2024.
20:24In turn, the organization specified that the Israeli regime's bombing was forced the Lebanese
20:29to displace themselves en masse.
20:32The UN also demanded that exhaustive investigation be conducted, and that the truce in effect for
20:37the past year be respected.
20:55Thailand authorities declared a state of emergency in the province of Changkla, following the damages
21:00caused by flash floods and rainfall.
21:02According to official reports, the water level reached between 0.5 and 2.5 meters, forcing
21:10the urgent evacuation of all residents in the affected and high-risk areas.
21:14Although no fatalities have been reported, authorities have declared that almost 2 million people have
21:19been affected.
21:20Specialists consider the rains the heaviest ever recorded in the region during the last 300
21:26years.
21:27Meteorological agencies warned about the possibilities of flooding in other provinces in the south
21:31of the country.
21:40And even though the official start of the winter is nearly a month away, a wintry storm was developing
21:45in the northern part of the country, with snow falling in North Dakota in the United States.
21:51As much as 20 cm of snow has fallen by late Tuesday afternoon in parts of North Dakota and South Dakota,
