00:42Palestinian organizations are denouncing the international communities in action in the face of humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, resulted from Israel's recent genocidal escalation against the Palestinian people.
01:03Hello, welcome to From the South. I'm Sophie Fernandes from the Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba. We'll begin with the news. Stay with us.
01:12In Venezuela, citizens take to the streets across the nation to reject the U.S. foreign interference against the country.
01:28Venezuelans mobilized to condemn the threats and claims of the White House to take over the nation's natural resources.
01:34citizens also denounced the recent theft of an oil tanker and the kidnapping of his crew by U.S. military personnel.
01:42During the march, Venezuelans expressed their commitment to defend the homeland from any external interference.
01:49They also ratified their support for the Bolivarian government of President Nicolás Maduro, who has been at the forefront of defending the territory.
01:56Moving on to Colombia.
02:07In Venezuela, the government expressed its concern over the arrest of former Bolivian President Luis Arce,
02:14warning that the judicial system is being used as a tool for political confrontation.
02:17In a statement, Venezuela said,
02:20From a position of historical solidarity, respect between broadly peoples, the government of the Bolivian people of Venezuela expresses its support and active and timely solidarity with the broadly Bolivian people.
02:34Venezuela warns about the selective use of the judicial system as a tool for political confrontation,
02:39a practice that has been repeated in Latin America under the law of our schemes, and that seriously damages the credibility of Bolivian institutions,
02:48destroys democracy and deepens social polarization.
02:51In Honduras, the Liberty and Refundation Party, LIBRE, of Honduras officially refuses to recognize the election results,
03:06after an extraordinary assembly, where they denounce fraud and foreign interference.
03:11Presidential candidate Erick Simóncada described the process as an ambush, and claimed that Honduras had been coerced.
03:18The decision was backed by LIBRE's general coordinator, Manuel Zelaya, and the current president, Xiomara Castro,
03:26who called for unity in the face of attacks from the far right.
03:30Finally, the party called on its members to take to the streets to demand a vote-to-vote and ballot-by-ballot recount.
03:37In addition, the LIBRE leadership called for unity in a popular organization, to confront electoral fraud and a justice system subject to imperial powers.
03:48Moving now to Brazil, where Judge Alexandre Morales was removed from the list of individuals sanctioned by the United States after having been included for his role in the trial against former President Jair Bolsonaro.
04:08The Morales Wives and the Lex Institute, which she leads, were also removed from the list.
04:16The Brazilian government praised the measure, which was agreed upon after a telephone conversation between President Luiz Ignacio Lula da Silva and his US counterpart Donald Trump.
04:25In July, Washington sanctioned the Supreme Court minister, accusing him of using his position to authorize arbitrary tensions and suppress freedom of expression in Brazil, especially by imposing a high-profile sentence against Bolsonaro for attempted coup.
04:41Meanwhile, the Trump administration has announced that the US is resuscitating the notorious Mon Romo Doctrine.
04:56From Brazil, our correspondent Brian Mir shows us what this means for Latin America.
05:00The administration released its new national security strategy. Within the 29-page document lies a promise to bring back one of the most nefarious policies in the history of the United States, the Monroe Doctrine, causing an alarm across Latin America.
05:17The Brazilian government considers this to be a serious...
05:24There is a unanimous objection of this doctrine, and that this is being directly communicated to the United States government of Donald Trump.
05:37...comunicado diretamente ao governo do Presidente dos Estados Unidos, Donald Trump.
05:42In 1824, President James Monroe created a new policy promising that the US would intervene militarily to protect against any foreign incursion into Latin America.
05:53What initially seemed like a measure to help its neighbors defend themselves from European imperialism was twisted around to justify bloody military invasions and coups.
06:03Between 1898 and 1994 alone, the US cited the Monroe Doctrine to justify 19 military invasions in the region.
06:11Now, with the new Trump Doctrine, Latin American has been converted back to the geopolitical center of the US government's strategy to try to strengthen the North American empire.
06:24This will deeply affect bilateral relations between Brazil and the US, as well as relations between the US and all of the countries in Latin America.
06:32Although it was initially created to help defend countries against Europe, the Monroe Doctrine has been used to invade or support regime change operations in any government in Latin America that has tried to exercise sovereignty over its natural resources, including coups in 1964 in Brazil, 1973 in Chile and a failed attempt in Venezuela in 2002.
06:57It's very concerning from the perspective of the defense of sovereignty and the most basic rules of international relations and international law, and it's also very concerning because it has been announced by this government of Donald Trump, which is radicalizing its imperialism.
07:14With the US currently waging hybrid war against Venezuela, resuscitating the Monroe Doctrine adds a new justification to its illegal regime change playbook.
07:26And now we have a short break coming up, but first remember to join us on TikTok at Telesur English, where you will find news in different formats, news updates, and more.
07:39We'll be right back. Stay with us.
07:41Welcome back.
07:55Welcome back.
07:56Welcome back.
07:57Hello.
07:58The Palestinian Organization are denouncing the international community's inaction in the face of the Gaza Strip's humanitarian crisis, which resulted from Israel's recent genocide and escalation against the Palestinian people.
08:09The Popular Front of Liberation for Palestine blamed the international community for the Gaza humanitarian crisis, saying its failure to stop it amounts to complicity.
08:20says the humanitarian crisis in Gaza is the result of the latest Israeli offensive and
08:24the blockade.
08:25Finally, the organization warned that tolerance of Israeli hostilities and the lack of farm
08:30response from the international community to the ongoing humanitarian disaster could
08:35lead to an even more serious crisis in the Palestinian territory.
08:47United Nations Secretary General António Guterres told the Security Council that Israel's settlements
08:52in the West Bank have reached an all-time high.
08:55The document shows that Israel has approved more housing tenders than ever before, evidenced
09:01in its illegal policy of stealing Palestinian land in violation of international norms.
09:06Guterres' report confirmed that in 2025 alone, the Tel Aviv regime approved around 47,390
09:14homes for settlers, almost double the number approved in the previous year.
09:19This alarming figure contrasts sharply with the annual average of approximately 12,800 units
09:25between 2017 and 2022, which already reflected the Israeli state's violations of the Palestinian
09:31rights to sovereignty and self-determination.
09:34Meanwhile, new attacks by the Israeli occupation army shook the Gaza Strip on Saturday, despite
09:48the ceasefire, leaving several dead and wounded, including children.
09:53While health authorities in Gaza confirmed that the death toll since the start of the Israeli's
09:58latest genocidal campaign in October 2023 now exceeds 70,000 people.
10:04The humanitarian crisis caused by Israeli destruction is claiming lives as residents are unable to cope
10:09with winter conditions.
10:12Local sources confirmed that a vehicle traveling in western Gaza was hit by a missile fired from
10:18an Israeli drone.
10:19The attack, which took place near the Nablusi intersection, left five people dead and more than 25 wounded,
10:27prompting emergency and rescue teams to immediately mobilize to the impact zone.
10:42In other news, sentences of the occupied territories took to the streets of Tel Aviv and Haifa in Israel
10:48to stage a series of protests in disagreement with the administration of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
10:54Tel Aviv Square in Tel Aviv was the epicenter of the protests, where people demanded the urgent
11:00creation of an investigative commission on the events of October 7.
11:04The protests, which highlighted the deepening internal crisis of the Zionist regime, spread
11:09to other cities, and comparating demands for the release of captives.
11:13This popular rejection underlines the discontent towards Netanyahu, whose policies are considered
11:19by vast sectors to be the root of the crisis and the escalation of war.
11:32And moving to Lebanon, the army inspected a house in the south of the country after Israeli
11:36forces threatened to bombwind on the accusation that it was being used to store weapons.
11:42After the inspection, the United Nations entering force in Lebanon, UNIFIL, and the military patrol
11:47double-checked that the house was free of weapons.
11:50However, it was later learned via the Mechanism Committee that the Israeli army intended to carry
11:56out an airstrike in Yahoun.
11:59In view of the imminent threat, the entity notified that such action would directly violate the
12:04United Nations Security Council resolution 1701.
12:06And moving to Syria, two U.S. soldiers and a civilian interpreter were killed in an attack,
12:22while on a joint patrol in Palmyra.
12:25Three other U.S. soldiers and two Syrian security force agents were also injured in the attack.
12:31The spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior of the de facto Syrian government, Nour al-Din
12:37al-Baba, reported that the attack was perpetuated by a member of the terrorist group calling itself
12:42the Islamic State.
12:44The official also reported that agents of the Syrian internal security forces had previously
12:50warned of possible attacks by this terrorist group, and regretted that the U.S. military
12:56did not take this warning seriously.
12:59In this regard, U.S. President Donald Trump promised a response against the terrorist faction
13:03for killing U.S. soldiers.
13:05And like this, we have come to the end of this news brief.
