00:50Hello, welcome to From the South.
00:56I'm Sophie Fernández from La Tela Sur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:59We begin with the news.
01:00Stay with us.
01:06In Palestine, the Gaza Strip experienced one of the deadliest Israeli attacks since the
01:22start of the ceasefire between the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas and Israel.
01:27Gaza Civil Defense announces the deaths of 27 people due to intense Israeli bombing, raising
01:33alarm about the fragility of the ceasefire in Palestinian territory.
01:37According to the emergency agency, the attacks were concentrated in Gaza City with 14 dead and
01:43in the vicinity of Jan Junis with 13 dead.
01:46This reception of bombing has deepened the despair among the inhabitants, while the number of
01:51Palestinian victims since the beginning of the conflict exceeds 69,513 people, according
01:58to the territory's Ministry of Health.
02:08Meanwhile, Israeli occupation forces once again attacked residential areas of the Palestinian
02:12city of Gaza, leaving more than 20 people killed.
02:16Israel launches airstrikes against a building house in displaced people in the in-situ neighborhood
02:22of the Gaza Strip, as well as against refugee tents in the Magwasi area, west of the city
02:27of Jan Junis.
02:28According to the Ministry of Health of the Palestinian Enclave, these attacks left at least 77 people
02:34injured.
02:35It should be noted that his wave of aggression is part of a repeated offensive by Israeli against
02:40the Arab nation, with the aim of illegally appropriating the territory and in flagrant violation
02:47of the ceasefire agreed between the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas and Israel.
03:01So, Israel continued its attacks against southern Lebanon in flagrant violation of the ceasefire
03:05agreements.
03:06Israeli-Syanist forces carried out attacks on residential areas in the village of Zuhur.
03:12Authorities have reported no victims so far.
03:14However, civil defense teams are on site in case of any emergency.
03:18According to local media, students from Zuhur, Zerifa and surrounding areas of the Tira district
03:24were evacuated after warnings of possible Israeli attacks in the area.
03:28Since the ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel came into effect on November 27, 2024, the
03:34Zionist army has bombed the neighboring country almost daily.
03:42For his part, Lebanon's president Joseph Aoun, defending the national army's resolved to continue
03:47its mission, in the face of influences from suspicious campaigns, inciting speeches or attempts
03:52to plant doubts from abroad.
03:55The Lebanese head of state also highlighted the organization of security forces together
04:00with the military in the pursuit of offenders and in reducing crime in all aspects, including
04:05border protection.
04:07He also expressed his condolences for the falling combat of the soldiers during the pursuit of
04:11truck traffickers in Baalbek and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
04:22In other news, the alert for extreme malnutrition in Sudan continues amid the ongoing armed conflict.
04:30According to the experts, the nutritional crisis in the country is driven by factors such as
04:34food shortages, disease insecurity and lack of means of substance.
04:40While displacement also plays a significant role in the crisis.
04:43Both authorities reported that more than 70% of the population is acutely malnourished and
04:5035% is severely malnourished.
04:53The serious food emergency is the result of the clashes between the armed forces of Sudan
04:57and the rapid support forces.
05:15In Argentina, the forest fire in Chubut continues to burn, keeping a large operation mobilized
05:21in weather conditions that complicate the progress of fire control.
05:25Firefighters fight to contain fires that have already burned over 70 hectares in Epuyen and
05:31El Bolzón, while strong winds hit Chubut and Rio Negro.
05:35In the face of this, the severe drought that the country is experiencing originally demands
05:40greater prevention at the national level.
05:43Nearly 140 to 150 firefighters are working on containment efforts, in addition to support
05:49staff, for a total of nearly 200 workers mobilized in the area.
05:53The development of the fire continues to be determined by climatic and topographical factors,
05:59under constant monitoring and coordinated work between ground and air teams.
06:10According to Bolivia, heavy rainfall caused severe damage, affecting thousands of families
06:14in several departments of the country.
06:17In recent weeks, the climate crisis emergency has intensified, severely impacted the regions
06:22of La Paz, Cochabamba and Santa Cruz.
06:26Also the affected localities have requested support in the face of devastation caused by the
06:29collapse of houses, the loops of crops and the closure of roads, which is hindering relief
06:35efforts and the provision of humanitarian assistance.
06:38In this regard, the tropical region of Cochabamba is in a difficult situation, with nearly 4,000
06:44homes affected by overflows, flooding and heavy rainfall.
06:54And now we have a short break coming up, but first remember you can join us on TikTok

07:04Welcome back.
07:04In Venezuela, President Nicolás Moldo denounced that the far right is promoting an international
07:21campaign to render the Venezuelan people invisible.
07:24The President denounced the existence of a campaign promoted by the sectors of the right
07:29that seeks to distort the reality of the country from abroad, especially in northern regions.
07:35The Jero State assured that despite the attempts to protect an image of weakness, Venezuela continues
07:40to consolidate its own democratic and liberal paths, based on popular sovereignty.
07:45In the sense, Moldo highlighted the strengthening of the union between the people, armed forces,
07:50expanding national militia and the police forces, based on popular sovereignty, to consolidate
07:55peace and democracy through the national territory.
07:59President Maduro also emphasized that building a democracy requires time, education and constant
08:08empowerment of the people.
08:12Building a democracy like this takes time, because you have to awaken the people, and
08:17it has taken time to awaken them decades, sometimes centuries.
08:22You have to educate the people, give them values, consciousness, and you have to do it
08:28by empowering them step by step, so that the people, awakened, educated, empowered, and conscious,
08:35can have their own destiny in their hands, and don't depend on anyone else.
08:41Let's not expect anything from anyone but ourselves.
08:44Furthermore, President Moldo called for an end to the genocide and war in the world caused
08:52by the United States Empire.
08:58There were 40,000 indigenous people of the Caracas tribes in the Caracas Valley, in the small
09:05part that you got to know, because now it is greater Caracas, 40,000.
09:11And 80 years later, after a census was conducted, there were 1,800 of them left.
09:19What can you call that?
09:21That's a genocide, that's extermination, that's the truth.
09:26Let's learn from history, the good things and the bad things, and let's tell the empires
09:32of the 21st century, no to war, no to genocide, no to killing.
09:39Humans have the right to live, to exist, and to grow as they wish.
09:53The fascist criminal tries to hide this reality from the war of the North.
10:03Empowered people, millions of leaders in their communities and on their streets, building and
10:13uniting at the grassroots level, the armed forces ready and prepared to continue winning.
10:21The perfect union of the empowered people, the armed forces, the powerful militia in expansion,
10:32and the country's police forces, increasingly better equipped and deployed.
10:39Try to hide the reality that this people has a democratic path and in freedom.
10:46Moving now to Colombia.

11:08of at least 20 people, including minors.

11:16to prevent guerrilla groups and parliamentary groups from recruited minors.
11:21The army's actions are intended to safeguard lives.
11:24The head of state also reported on the seizure of more than 200 firearms, including approximately
11:3020,476 pieces of ammunition for these weapons.

12:30and the American saxophonist, Dave Pietro, will participate and represent Costa Rican musicians,
12:35will be Ale González Trio and the Costa Rican Beat Bang.

12:57and contemporary art.

13:04of its traditions, art and technology.

16:24the right to the truth of all peoples. That is where our plan is founded.
16:29The right to the truth of all peoples. That is cemented our plan with a solid constitutional base,
16:38powerful, which we will defend forever, as we have done over the last 16 years,

17:06I have traveled throughout the entire country, all 18 departments, and we are now close to

18:24hours and are limited to three people at a time. It also established the possibility of removing house
18:30arrest in any circumstance that jeopardizes complaints with the established rules,
18:34which may be revised immediately. It should be noted that the decision was made by the judge of
18:40Federal Oral Caller II, Jorge Goririni. The measure comes after the former president received nine
18:46economies simultaneously last Monday.
18:56Moving on to the Dominican Republic, political and social organizations
18:59demanded that the government refrain from any kind of diplomatic or economic aggression regarding
19:04the United States military deployment in the Caribbean waters against Venezuela.
19:09The organizations emphasized the need for the Dominican executive to return to constitutional order
19:15and to base his policies on the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of
19:19other nations. They also rejected the decree allowing Dominican troops to join a military attack on
19:25Venezuela, calling it unconstitutional. In this measure that demanded the country reaffirms its
19:30constitutional course and call for peace, demanding the withdrawn of all U.S. military forces from the Caribbean.

20:13house leaders to push it forward. The president emphasized that the Epstein was indicted by the Justice
20:19Department during his previous administration in 2019 and highlighted his political ties, including
20:25to several Democratic figures. He also criticized the Biden administration, which he said had not
20:30released any documents related to the case.
20:38Also in the United States, a recent poll reveals that President Donald Trump's approval rating
20:43has hit its lowest point in his second term.
20:46The report reveals that Trump's approval rating fell to 38 percent due to citizens discontent with
20:52the cost of living and the disclosure of Jeffrey Epstein files linking him to the case.
20:58The poll comes at a time when the United States president leadership of the Republican Party is
21:03also showing signs of weakening. For its part, the House of Representatives recently approved a measure for
