00:00Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro Moros received on Friday an official delegation
00:15from the Cuban government at the Milafrodes Palace to strengthen bilateral ties.
00:24In Argentina, President Javier Milley acknowledged Friday that he is negotiating a new loan with
00:29the US Treasury Department to mitigate the financial crisis that is affecting the country.
00:39In Palestine, the death toll from the Israeli aggression has risen to 65,174,
00:45with 160,071 owners injured since the Israeli aggression towards Gaza erupted on October 7,
00:542023, according to Gaza Health authorities.
01:03Hello, welcome to From the South. I am Sophie Fernández from the Telesur Studios in Havana,
01:08Cuba. We begin with the news. Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro Moros received on Friday an
01:13official delegation from the Cuban government at the Milafrodes Palace. The Herostate highlighted the
01:18historical ties and stressed that action plans must continue to be promoted with the capacity to
01:24integrate historical experience on all fronts, both from the Communist Party of Cuba and the Great
01:30Patriotic Pole, Simón Bolívar. He also highlighted the importance of increasingly strengthening the
01:36unity of patriotic youth in all areas as a way to guarantee the continuity of revolutionary leadership.
01:42With the Socialist United Party of Venezuela, the Great Patriotic Pole, and the Bolivarian Revolution.
01:50My wife, Silvia, is also here, who is also... The head of state, Nicolás Maduro Moros,
01:55said that the peoples of Cuba and Venezuela are facing today a hybrid war, an imperial aggression,
02:01whose purpose is to destroy both nations' revolutions. And all of the international work, Tania. Today,
02:09our peoples are facing a war that they call multi-shaped, some call it hybrid war. Those who build geopolitical
02:24concepts, they give different shapes. The truth is that it is an immoral war to try and destroy the most
02:36the most beautiful thing that the history of our people have had. That is a revolution inspired in Bolívar and in Martí.
02:47That had, as its founders, these two giants that are here, that could coincide in their historical times.
02:56Bolívar and Martí weren't able to coincide in their historical times. They coincided in something bigger,
03:05and that was the ideal of the absolute independence of America. Martí was the biggest Bolivarian that
03:13existed on the face of the earth in the 19th century.
03:18In this regard, President Nicolás Maduro recalled the legacy of commanders Hugo Chávez and Fidel Castro.
03:31They managed to coincide physically in the same historical time, and they did a lot.
03:36with the intelligence, the boldness, and the bravery that characterized them in a very big way, both of them
03:52together. It is impressive to see the history of Fidel.
03:57Meanwhile, Venezuelan Minister of Defense Vladimir Perlino López offered details of the sovereign
04:07Caribbean 200 exercise held on the island of La Orchilla, in the insular territory of Francisco de Miranda.
04:14The minister informed that the 72-hour land and naval air exercise is still on the way,
04:20and so far it has been carried out according to plan.
04:23The activities have been carried out in popular military and police fusion,
04:27which has allowed the increase of the operational readiness of the national Bolivarian armed forces.
04:33Perlino reaffirmed that, under the premise of drug trafficking,
04:37the U.S. administration has wanted to discredit and eliminate the democratic Venezuelan institutionality.
04:43In the face of this scenario of aggression to national sovereignty,
04:47the joint campaign maneuvers Sovereign Caribbean 200 has demonstrated the effectiveness
04:52of the synergies in the defense of the homeland.
05:02Also, the Minister of Defense Vladimir Perlino López assured that the entire national territory
05:07is occupied by the Bolivarian armed forces for the defense of the country.
05:12There is no state, no jurisdiction within the national territory that is not currently occupied by the
05:23Bolivarian national armed forces, conducting exercises,
05:28and carrying out the task of defending, the task of containing the traffic of drugs through
05:39the national territory, the task of combating armed groups,
05:44the drug trafficking, and terrorist groups.
05:54Here the government has not given consent or permission to any armed group of any kind to remain in the country.
06:01That is a violation of our sovereignty, and that is why it is a state policy,
06:11from the highest level, to reject, to expel, or to neutralize.
06:18If necessary, any armed group operating in Venezuelan territory, anywhere in the country.
06:32The Bolivarian national armed forces have the constitutional mission, above all else,
06:39by our constitution, to defend and guarantee our national independence.
06:48Venezuelan defense minister Perlino López also emphasized that military exercises by the United
06:54States against Venezuela, Latin American and Caribbean are a threat.
07:02And so we see that in this regard,
07:04the world is adrift. Because what prevails here is not the international law or legislation,
07:13what prevails here is the use of force. And in the case at hand, regarding this threat by the United
07:21States against Venezuela, Latin America, and the Caribbean, they are using military means.
07:28In other news in Venezuela, aquaculturalists held a meeting on the organization, distribution,
07:43and export of capafico seaweed, cultivated in the state of Nueva Esparta. Artisanal producers from
07:50different organizations in the sector participated in the meeting, alongside business leaders.
07:54Capafico seaweed contains minerals that are beneficial to humans and are also used in products such as
08:01toothpaste and makeup. Among others, these meetings are held within the framework of government plans
08:07for the country's producers with the aim of promoting the nation's development.
08:16And now we have a short break coming up, but first remember you can join us on TikTok at

08:38Welcome back to From the South. And we move to Argentina, where President Javier Milley
08:42acknowledged during an interview on Friday that he is negotiating a new loan with the US Treasury
08:47Department to mitigate the financial crisis affecting the country. The Central Bank of Argentina,
08:54intervened in the official exchange market after disimbursing $680 million on Friday and under
09:01$432 million in the previous two days, to keep the dollar exchange rate within the range
09:06agreed upon of the International Monetary Fund. This agreement worth $20 billion requires the
09:13organization to prevent the currency from exceeding the upper limits. The crisis is worsening by the country's
09:19risk of 1,515 basis points, an increase of 4.3% since August 26, 2024, reflecting the difficulties in financing.
09:30In other news, Venezuela hosts the third international telecommunications fair,
09:44FITELBEN, with over 140 national and international companies in attendance. The event is held at
09:50Caracas Polydron Arena, where hundreds of companies demonstrate the country's technological advances within
09:56the framework of future strategic alliances. Venezuela has experienced a 7.13% growth in
10:03history of communications services and a significant progress in national connectivity.
10:18Ecuadorian President Daniel Novoa extended the stage of emergency and imposed curfew in five provinces
10:24ahead of these new protests in the making against its elimination of the diesel subsidy. The decision
10:30was then announced by various social movements such as the Confederation of Indigenous Nationalities,
10:36which accused the government of defending the interests of the country's elites and the International
10:40Monetary Fund and violating their right to a decent life. The move suspends freedom of assembly,
10:46restricts movements for 60 days and authorizes the police to prevent and disband meetings in public
10:52spaces, where threats to security are identified. In addition, the executive declared a curfew in five
10:58provinces, with the aim of containing road blockades and demonstrations.
11:12Meanwhile, the Mexican government has warned that at least 198 Mexicans have been detained at the
11:23Alligator Alcatraz detention center in the United States, which was ordered to close by a federal judge.
11:30Mexican Foreign Minister Juan Ramón de la Fuente reported that consultants are conducting the interviews
11:35with Mexican migrants who are detained in the United States. He explained that Alligator Alcatraz is a
11:41short-term detention center, so there is a daily movement of inmates. He also noted that during the
11:47last day of interviews at the detention center, complaints of mistreatment have been received.
12:11In Turkey, forest fires threatened presidential areas in the south and west of the territory. According
12:18to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, fires were reported in the regions of Aydin, Mughla and
12:24Antalya, provinces known for their dense forests and popular tourist destinations. For its part,
12:30the governor's office reported that several fires have been brought under control, while efforts to contain
12:36the remaining flames continued. They also deployed air support, including helicopters and firefighting
12:42aircraft, along with hundreds of firefighters on the ground. In Antalya, residents were evacuated under
12:49the flames spread to their homes.

13:31Welcome back. The Palestinian death toll has risen to 65,174, with 166,071 others injured since Israeli
13:51aggressions towards Gaza erupted on October 7, 2023, according to Gaza's health authorities. According to
13:58reports from the Ministry of Health in the enclave, in the last 24 hours hospitals received 33 bodies,
14:04including one recovered from the rubble, and 146 injured. Systematic starvation claimed many lives
14:11in the Strip, totaling 440 people, including 147 minors. The international community denounced the
14:19use of hunger as a weapon of war, and warned of a humanitarian catastrophe with irreversible
14:24consequences for an entire generation.
14:35Nine Palestinian hostages were released Friday from Israeli army prisons and arrived in the city of
14:40Deir al-Bala with the help of the Red Cross. According to local health and security sources,
14:46the nine Palestinians crossed into Gaza through the Kerim Shalom crossing, and were immediately
14:52transported to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs hospital in Deir al-Bala. The release of the hostage created a
14:58climate of relief and celebration among their loved ones and their communities of origin. After long
15:04months of confinement, they will undergo detailed medical exams to address possible health issues
15:09and ensure the well-being of the former kidnapped victims.
15:12Meanwhile, on Friday, Israel announced the indefinite closure of two border crossings with Jordan.
15:25The measure comes as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu blames Jordan for an incident that occurred
15:30on Thursday at the Al-Bai King Hussein crossing, which left two Israeli soldiers dead in response.
15:37Tel Aviv is tidying controls on trucks arriving from Amman with supplies for the gas strip,
15:42including more strict inspections and metal detector checks. The closure affects the Al-Bai
15:48crossings, which connects Jordan to the West Bank and the Jordan River crossing,
15:52limiting the movements of Palestinians and the entry of humanitarian aid.
15:56Iran condemned the reinstatement of United Nations sanctions and retaliated the peaceful nature of
16:11its nuclear program. Iran's foreign ministry opposes sanctions backed by the European Union.
16:17It claims the Cairo deal with the International Atomic Energy Agency since the diplomatic breakthrough is
16:24being ignored. The country emphasized that the measure comes at a time where its peaceful nuclear
16:29facilities are under Israeli attack. On September 9, Iran denounced a new understanding with the
16:35International Atomic Energy Agency that defines mechanisms for resuming inspections and cooperation,
16:41guaranteeing its sovereign rights. The Supreme National Security Council warned that any hostile
16:47actions would lead to the suspension of the agreement.
17:00Additionally, Russia and China announced that they will not recognize Western countries' attempts to
17:05reimburse the United Nations sanctions on Iran and promise to continue business as usual.
17:11Vasilia Nevencia, Russia's United Nations Security Council representative, denounced the reimposition of
17:16sanctions against Iran as the issue legitimate and coercive. China's United Nations Security Council
17:22Ambassador Foucault called for sanctions against Iran to be suspended, saying that the Arab
17:28nation's efforts must be recognized. He stressed that the reimposing of sanctions against Iran undermines
17:34efforts to find a solution and said that the US must pave the way for negotiations.
17:46In the Dominican Republic, the 20th edition of the International Contemporary Dance Festival was

18:22Rafael Morla, and two choreographies by the National Dance Company of Costa Rica. It would also include a
18:28varied program of workshops, conferences, and video dance screenings.
18:44In Mexico, the International Anthropology and History Book Fair began under the slogan Rights and Cultural
18:50for Diversity. In its 36th edition, the fair will feature over 100 exhibitors and 150 stands,
18:57offering a wide selection of titles and activities such as forums, exhibitions, tributes,

19:42activities between September and October. The event, entitled Flying Dreams and Embracing Peace,
19:48will include the 2nd World Indoor Kite Championship and the 6th National Traditional Kite Making Contest.
19:55During the launch of the festival, local authorities highlighted the importance of integrating kite
20:00culture and industry, tourism and commerce, transforming this cultural symbol into an economic
20:06driver for the region. In addition, sports and cultural activities such as marathon and a harvest
20:12festival will be held during the event.
