AccuWeather's Bernie Rayno says snow and ice are expected to cause wintry conditions from as far south as North Carolina all the way up to Maryland from Thursday night to Friday.

00:00Well across Virginia many will see their first accumulating snow as we move into Friday. Now
00:06our storm coming across the southern interior of the United States is mostly going to produce a
00:11soaking rain in the southeast but there's just enough cold air in the northern side of this
00:16storm that there can be a little bit of ice across Arkansas as we go through our Thursday afternoon
00:22Thursday night southern parts of Kentucky and then as the precipitation arrives in Virginia
00:28it's mostly going to be snow though there will be areas right along the North Carolina Virginia state
00:35line that start as snow then go over to ice for Raleigh and Charlotte this is mostly going to be
00:41a chilly rain for you worried about the area from Richmond to Washington DC that's mostly going to
00:47be snow also interstate 81 in western Virginia will get the snow as well how much generally a coating
00:55to an inch or two but watch that area between Harrisonburg and down toward Roanoke that's where
01:01we could get two or three inches of snow and I wouldn't be surprised if someone ended up around
01:06five or six not a lot of snow on Friday but enough to cause some slippery travel so do be careful
