00:00That mid-Atlantic storm, it's going to be a big impact, so I want to bring in Jeff to catch you up on what's going on with that situation starting out in the southeast.
00:08Yeah, it's going to be a problem here, and it's already becoming a problem in some parts of northern Middle Tennessee.
00:13As the storm expands east, we're going to see greater impacts.
00:17We call this cold air damming sometimes.
00:19When you have the mountain range and cool flow from the northeast, the cold air gets trapped.
00:24And overall, we're going to be dealing with a setup where there's a lot of low to mid-level cold air east of the mountains,
00:30and most of Virginia is going to face an accumulating snow.
00:33Same story to southern Delaware, most to central and southern Maryland as well.
00:37Right now, the bulk of this storm is producing rain in the Gulf Coast states,
00:42and also you can see some of this icy mix beginning to take over northwest of Nashville.
00:46So again, we do have some impacts ongoing north of Nashville for the most part with soaking cold rain in Nashville itself.
00:53Current temp, 35 there, 35 in Little Rock.
00:55But down to the south, we're still at 76 in Miami, Florida.
00:59And overall, we're going to be watching as this storm encounters that cold air east of the mountains.
01:04Look out.
01:06Widespread snow breaks out in Virginia, northern North Carolina, southern West Virginia.
01:11There we are at 4.30 a.m.
01:12when the school administrators are going to have to make some tough decisions there in D.C.
01:16because the snow may not have begun there yet.
01:19But in Richmond, the snow will be underway.
01:21Maybe a more obvious choice there.
01:23One to three inches of snow likely to be in progress in Richmond, according to an inch in D.C.
01:27There's 9 a.m.
01:29Widespread issues.
01:30Even northern North Carolina will face some of these problems.
01:32And then into Delaware.
01:34South Jersey, you'll see kind of a rain-snow mix.
01:36And we're not going to see much.
01:37Maybe, maybe, maybe up in New York City, a light flurry or two out of this one.
01:42But this purple zone is the icy mix area.
01:45This is going to be the most dangerous travel weather along I-81 near Bristol, Kingsport, Tri-Cities, Johnson City Air.
01:50You've got some problems.
01:52And then moving forward, this expands into D.C.
01:55Probably 2 or 3 a.m.
01:57And then a little later than that, into the early morning hours, into Delaware.
02:01So AccuWeather's winter cast, one to three inches for Richmond.
02:05And you can see a pretty high confidence forecast that you exceed an inch in Richmond, Virginia,
02:09between 3 a.m. and it'll be ending by 4 p.m. tomorrow.
