00:00A late season snowstorm is taking aim at the Colorado high country as we head into May,
00:05offering some relief after an unusually dry winter. Snowfall totals have been well below
00:11average, just 29% in Aspen and less than half in Steamboat Springs, raising concerns for the
00:18Colorado River this summer. That river provides water for the Colorado River Basin, home to 40
00:27million Americans. And without that snow melt, water is going to start becoming scarce. Now,
00:33the good news is, at least we're going to get some snow. This is not going to be a huge
00:38snowstorm
00:38Thursday into Friday, but up above 7,000 feet, there's going to be several inches of snow.
00:44The lower terrain, Denver I-25 toward Casper, this is mostly just going to be rain. And we're not done
00:52with the snow. Take a look what's going on off the northwest coast of the United States. Look at all
00:56those clouds stirring. That's going to be the next storm. That will bring a pronounced dip in the
01:01jet stream as we get into the middle part of next week, providing what? More snow. Much needed snow
01:09for the Southern Rockies.
