00:00In Honduras, the National Electoral Council provided the preliminary results for the general elections,
00:18with only 34.25% of the votes counted, showing that Nazerías Fura,
00:24the candidate for the right-winged National Party, is leading the polls.
00:30In Saint-Luxia, over 179.000 citizens prepared to vote on the general elections to be held this Monday, December 1.
00:44Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov asserted that Europe has removed itself from the negotiations regarding the Ukrainian conflict.
00:58Hello, welcome to From the South. I'm Sophie Fernández from the Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
01:04We begin with the news. Stay with us.
01:06The preliminary results from the National Electoral Council of the General Elections in Honduras,
01:12which show an advantage for right-wing candidate Nazerías Fura from the National Party, confirmed the claim by the Libre Party that they are not reliable,
01:20after only counted 34.25% of the votes.
01:24The Sunday elections have been marked by foreign intervention by the U.S. President Donald Trump, who, days before the elections, publicly endorsed right-wing presidential candidate Nazerías Fura.
01:30For its part, the ruling Libre Party stated that the ruling Libre Party stated that they anticipated irregularities in this election process, when current President Xiomara Castro and presidential candidate Erickse Moncara,
01:46denounced the hacking of the preliminary election results transmission system TREP.
02:04According to statements from the Electoral Council President Ana Paula Hall, the preliminary results of the presidential elections for the 2026-2030 term are given after counting 34.25% of the votes.
02:19The polls are led by Nazerías Fura, the candidate from the right-wing National Party, followed by Salvador Nasralla from the right-wing Liberal Party,
02:28and Erickse Moncara from the ruling Liberty and Refundation Libre Party.
02:43The preliminary results for the presidential election are as follows.
02:50Candidate for the Democratic Party of Honduras, 2.152 votes.
03:01Candidate for the Liberal Party and Refundation Libre, 255.972 votes.
03:12Candidate for the Innovation and Social Democratic Unity Party, 10,698 votes.
03:22Candidate for the Liberal Party of Honduras, 506,316 votes.
03:29Candidate for the National Party of Honduras, 530,073 votes.
03:36For her part, the presidential candidate for the Liberty and Refundation Party, LIBRE, Rixi Moncada,
03:42posted her reaction to the results published by the National Electoral Council.
03:47In her ex-account, Moncada stated,
03:50I am grateful for the LIBRE Party and our people, who overwhelmingly voted for my proposal for
03:55economic and democratic reform.
03:57I urge you to remain steadfast in your struggle until we obtain the final result with 100%
04:04of the presidential, mayoral and congressional ballots counted.
04:09She also added,
04:10Tomorrow, at a press conference, I will announce my political position regarding the presidential
04:14results published by the National Electoral Council.
04:23Meanwhile, Honduran Foreign Minister Enrique Reina reiterated his allegations this Sunday
04:30about irregularities in the preliminary election results transmission system, TREP.
04:36Through his account on the social network X, he pointed out,
04:40We warned about this days ago, and Cosette said it in his 26 audio messages,
04:47The TREP's plan is to give selected results in which Rixi Moncada does not win.
04:53We must wait for the result of all the means, and let's not forget the media manipulation
04:58of the frauds in 2013 and 2017.
05:01Together we will win.
05:03Until victory, always.
05:12In this regard, Andrés Ochoa, member of the National Electoral Council CNE, warned about
05:17persistent vulnerabilities in the results transmission system.
05:22In a statement, he said,
05:23The vulnerabilities of the TREP system observed in the November 9th drill persist.
05:29In the last few hours, there have been three failed system tests.
05:33Others indicate that satellite antennas can be deactivated without leaving a trace.
05:38There are audio recordings that mention the reduction of power in specific antennas, which
05:43technical support confirms as possible.
05:46And there have been recent failures in the telephone network.
05:49The Honduran people deserve to know the truth, and it is my duty to inform them.
05:55In view of this, I remind citizens that the 9 p.m. announcement has no legal effect, and
06:00that the general count must be carried out with the processing of the 19,167 minutes.
06:13In today's new episode of Honduras on the Move, our special envoy, Roberto Obreza, takes
06:35us to learn about an important social program that is transforming the lives of thousands of
06:40women in that Central American nation.
06:42We go to Tegucigalpa, the Honduran capital.
06:48More than half of Honduras' inhabitants are women.
06:51According to recent censuses, the female population is approximately 5.28 million, which represents
06:5853.4 percent of an estimated population of 10.8 million inhabitants.
07:04Woman City is a program that serves the female population, and today one of its six headquarters
07:09opened its doors to us.
07:14Woman City is a strategic public institution of the state where we improve the living conditions
07:19of women, adolescents, and girls.
07:21Woman City was created in 2016 in response to demands from women's and feminist organizations.
07:28In 2018, we became a public policy of the state with technical, financial, legal, and administrative
07:35autonomy.
07:36And in 2022, when the National Institute for Women, INAM, was elevated to the rank of state
07:42secretariat, we were attached to it as the executing entity for gender public policies.
07:47In the last four years under a government led by a woman, this project has empowered thousands
07:56of them.
08:01But beyond that, it is the obligation of this government to serve women and provide them
08:06with quality services with warmth, under a feminist approach for these women, and also generating
08:11dignified care and not just numbers.
08:14When I say 3.5 million services, that means the impact on the lives of many women in this
08:20country, adolescents, and especially girls who see that their future is changing, and that
08:25is thanks to this government.
08:29Daily, around 300 women arrive to request different services.
08:35It is comprehensive care with professionals from various areas.
08:40There are six attention modules, a module for women's rights, we have a module for sexual
08:44and reproductive health, community education, economic autonomy, attention to adolescents.
08:51The module with the most demand is the sexual and reproductive health module.
08:55We have a polyclinic that provides primary care to women.
08:59We provide psychological care, general medicine, but we also work a lot on preventing cervical
09:04cancer and breast cancer.
09:09We provide counseling services in sexual health, reproductive health, vocational guidance, in
09:15which we try to guide girls who are not studying to return to their studies.
09:20And if they don't want to continue studying, then insert them into courses.
09:26Ana Funes took the course and now boost her artisanal jewelry business.
09:32I came to Woman City for a medical consultation since I am a cancer survivor and have had to
09:39get medical checkups.
09:41I came here looking for a medical consultation, waiting my turn.
09:44I was working on my earrings, making my earrings, and someone approached and said, congratulations,
09:49you work so beautifully.
09:51And told me about Woman City, about the opportunity we had as entrepreneurs and what we undertake.
09:57And so I went.
09:58I looked for it and brought my earrings and they said, excellent, and they gave me the opportunity
10:03to be here.
10:07And while mothers receive services, children are cared for in a small daycare.
10:12But there is also a school where any woman can come to study, whether a 14- or 15-year-old
10:22girl with a baby or without a baby.
10:24Well, there are 70-year-old ladies studying, some in sixth grade, others learning to read,
10:29others in high school.
10:30And we are seeing that now there is no excuse to stop studying and there is no age limit to
10:35keep preparing.
10:40In a new stage, Woman City is bringing its services closer to communities across the country.
10:47And now we have a short break coming up.
10:48But first, remember you can join us on TikTok at TeleSUR English,
10:52where you will find news in different formats, news updates, and more.
10:56Stay with us.
11:05Welcome back.
11:21In Saint Lucia, emotions are running high with over 179,000 people head to the polls to vote
11:27in the general elections to be held on December 1st.
11:31Our correspondent Mela de los Santos brings us the details from the Caribbean island.
11:35For a new electoral process, over 179,000 residents of this Caribbean island are registered
11:44to participate in the general elections of December 1st.
11:49The Saint Lucia Labour Party, led by Philippe Pierre, seeks to revalidate its government
11:53against the main right-wing opposition party, led by Alan Chastanet, defeated in the last election.
11:59So that is why this election is critical. Are people satisfied enough to continue with the policies
12:08that this government has, or are they going to go back based on very wild promises that the opposition party has made?
12:17Since its landslide victory in 2021, the Philippe Pierre government has driven economic recovery
12:22after COVID through high-impact social measures, such as implementing a national minimum wage.
12:29Our country has improved.
12:32Our country has had four years of economic growth.
12:35Our employment is the lowest ever, reaching below 10% for the first time in our country's history.
12:42We are very satisfied with the work we've done for the last four and a half years,
12:47and we are confident that the people of Saint Lucia will re-elect us tomorrow.
12:55The atmosphere on the streets is electric, with caravans parading through the city center
13:00and furling party colors.
13:02Very excited. We're red and we're ready. The mood is red. Thank you.
13:08Thank you. Well, I believe UW will make it, the victory. I'm very happy about that.
13:14It's not stopping us. The mood is red.
13:20Like this, with feelings running high, Saint Lucia waits for an outcome that will shape the years to come.
13:25Marcos Da Silva, Belen de los Santos, from Saint Lucia, for Tell Us Your English.
13:35In other news, the United States Congress announced the start of an investigation into the deployment
13:41ordered by President Donald Trump since last September in the Caribbean, under the pretext of
13:46combating drug trafficking. This was reported by the House Armed Services Committee in a statement in
13:53which it said that they take seriously reports of subsequent attacks on ships allegedly transporting
13:59narcotics in the Southern Command region. It added that steps are being taken to compile a full report
14:06on the operation. Meanwhile, the U.S. Senate says it is a word of recent news reports and will begin
14:13rigorous oversight to determine the facts related to these circumstances.
14:25Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed on Sunday he held a phone call with his Venezuelan
14:31counterpart, Nicolás Maduro.
14:32You had a phone call with Maduro, did you?
14:36I don't want to comment on it. The answer is yes.
14:39Can you tell us a little bit about it?
14:41No, I can't do that.
14:41Mr. President, would you say it went well?
14:46I wouldn't say it went well or badly. It was a phone call.
14:49Yeah.
14:50Meanwhile, the Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro denounced the United States' intention
14:55to cease the oil resolve of the Bolivarian territory through military force.
15:00In a letter sent to the Secretary General of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries,
15:05OPEC, and his member nations, as well as those of the OPEC Plus,
15:09President Maduro said that, since mid-August of this year, President Donald Trump has carried out
15:15a campaign of harassment and threats against Venezuela that clearly undermines regional
15:20and international peace, security, and stability. The President emphasized that this intention
15:27not only violates provisions that promote peaceful coexistence among nations, but also
15:32endangers the stability of Venezuelan oil production and the international market.
15:37In addition, Nicolás Maduro reaffirmed that Venezuela will firmly defend its natural energy
15:43resources and will not succumb to blackmail or threats.
15:46And the Venezuelan National Assembly announced that it will propose the creation of a commission
15:57to investigate the killings of Venezuelans in the Caribbean by U.S. military.
16:02Parliament President Jorge Rodriguez called an extraordinary meeting for Monday to approve the
16:08proposal for the creation of the special commission and denounced the silence by the international community
16:14in relation to Washington's crimes. At the same time, Rodriguez called on the U.S. action's motors,
16:20arguing they cannot be considered war crimes in the absence of a declared armed conflict.
16:26Rodriguez also denounced that families of the victims have been threatened to keep them from
16:30denouncing publicly what had happened to their loved ones.

17:03Welcome back. The diplomatic dispute over the Ukrainian conflict entered a new phase after statements by
17:24Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who asserted that Europe has removed itself from the negotiations.
17:31The head of Russian diplomacy argued that European governments had undermined previous agreements,
17:37including Minsk in 2014 and 2014. As a result, they had thus influence in the current negotiations.
17:45Moscow sees any future instance as depending on the U.S. and Russia's understanding,
17:50while Ukraine is experiencing extreme internal instability. Lavrov says Merkel's recent statements
17:57show the European Union is an uninterested party in a long-standing conflict, not a guarantor.
18:03For Russia, this makes the UAE an unreliable peace mediator.
18:15Also on Sunday, Russia condemned the terrorist attack in Kyiv against oil tankers and infrastructure
18:21of the Caspian Oil Pipeline Consortium . Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria
18:28Sakharova stated that the country condemns the terrorist attacks and the activities of all parties
18:33that contributed to the planning and execution of the terrorist attacks. According to Sakharova, amidst a
18:40corruption scandal in Ukraine, certain Western sponsors of Kyiv appear to need to divert attention to Ukrainian
18:47society towards the high-profile attacks against civilian targets. She added that another possible
18:54motive is to impede the current international efforts to bring about sustainable peace.
18:59Moving on to Germany, thousands of people protested took to the streets to reject the creation of the new
19:13youth wing of the far-right party Alternative for Germany. Although the demonstrations were peaceful,
19:19several confrontations with the police occurred. In this scenario, nearly 5,000 agents were deployed,
19:25who confronted the protesters with water cannons. It is estimated that the number of attendees exceeded
19:3125,000 people, who denounced the new youth sector of the radical right-wing party in this country.
19:39Let's recall that Alternative for Germany was forced to dissolve its previous youth wing after the
19:45German authorities declared it an extremist organization. Moving on to Israel, protesters demonstrated Sunday
19:59outside the residency of Israel President Isaac Herzog anticipated that he might crime Prime Minister
20:06Benjamin Netanyahu's request for a pardon. Netanyahu, who is facing trial on one account of bribery,
20:13three counts of fraud and three counts of breach of trust between 2007 and 2017, submitted a formal
20:21pardon request to Herzog this Sunday, citing national interest. In addition to the demonstration
20:27outside the president's private presidency, members of the political opposition urged Herzog to reject
20:33the pardon request, arguing that closing Netanyahu's corruption trial could be detrimental to the rule of law.
20:43Meanwhile, in Kyrgyzstan, early parliamentary elections are on the way to renew the country's parliament.
20:54The Central Electoral Commission of the Central Asian country reported that polling stations open their
21:00doors to voters and will close at 8 pm local time. In this context, around 4.3 million citizens are called to
21:07participate in the vote in more than 2,490 polling stations to elect 90 deputies. The final results of the
21:16elections are expected to be announced before December 14. The count will be carried out using automated ballot
21:23boxes and verified manually. In the northwest of the Democratic Republic of Congo, at least 20 people died and
21:38several remained missing after a boat capsized on the lake Maidombe. According to resident testimonies,
21:46the vote, which was travelling from the town of Kiri to Kinshasa, capsized between the villages of Bonbeni
21:52and Lobeke on Thursday night. In this scenario, the local diocese confirmed that among the dead is a newly
21:59ordained Catholic deacon. So far, the governor of Maidombe, Kebani Konoso, has stated that the government
22:07has not yet issued an official figure for the number of victims or survivals, as it is waiting for details
22:13from the rescue team. Boat capsizing is common in Central African countries, where poor road conditions
22:20force the population to use ship-overloaded wooden boats with a shortage of life jackets.
22:35Meanwhile, in Sudan, the attack on a hospital exacerbated the health crisis facing the region,
22:41amid the armed conflict. The assault by the Rapid Support Forces turned the hospital in the city of El Fesher
22:48into a scene of deaths with bombings or military assaults and executions. Meanwhile, another separate
22:55attack had resulted in a shooting death of more than 460 patients and their companions inside the health
23:02complex. This figure reflects the magnitude of the siege against the only functioning hospital,
23:08which was already in collapse due to the lack of supplies, staff and safe access for the population.
23:14The presence of drones, constant attacks on medical facilities, and the blockade of evacuation routes
23:20are part of the systematic campaign by the Rapid Support Forces to dismantle the healthcare system in the city.
23:26And like this, we have come to the end of this news brief. You can find this and many other stories
