00:04This Tuesday, the transitional presidential council approved in Port-au-Prince, the country's
00:09capital, the ratification of an electoral law for the holding of general elections.
00:15The agreement was reached at the Council of Ministers' meeting, and according to President
00:20Laurent Saint-Cyr, it is a decisive step toward fulfilling the promises made to the Haitian
00:28people and redirecting the country toward legitimacy and democratic stability.
00:33Now the transitional government will be able, among other actions, to convene an official
00:39electoral calendar.
00:41Social organizations welcome the initiative but acknowledge that there is still a demanding
00:46road ahead amid the unprecedented political instability the Caribbean nation is experiencing.
