00:11The President of the National Congress of Honduras, Luis Redondo, issued a powerful statement
00:16affirming that an electoral coup is taking place in Honduras,
00:20undermining the legitimacy of the government of the November 30th elections.
00:25Redondo also condemned the public statements made by U.S. President Donald Trump days before the vote.
00:32The declaration also denounces failures and changes in the rules of the preliminary results system,
00:39and the biometric verification procedure Redondo warns that only Congress and not election councillors can modify the law,
00:47so any attempt to modify the rules to manipulate the votes constitutes an usurpation of power.
00:55When we denounce the existence of an ongoing electoral coup,
01:05materialized by coordinated actions that seriously affected the legitimacy of the electoral process held in the country,
01:13to we absolutely condemn the interference of President of the United States, Donald Trump,
01:24who, through public statements made 72 hours before the November 30th elections,
01:35threatened and coerced Honduran citizens, altering the free exercise of suffrage.
