Police have recovered four illegal guns, more than 130 rounds of ammunition, narcotics, and arrested five suspects during coordinated operations across the Northern, Port of Spain and Central Divisions.
00:00Police officers were kept busy over the last 24 hours as multiple anti-crime exercises led to major weapons and drug seizures and five arrests.
00:10In the Maloney District, officers conducting early morning roving patrols recovered a Smith & Wesson pistol and later seized a magazine with 12 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
00:21Four men were detained, one in connection with a robbery, who was also found with cannabis, and three others who were in a vehicle reported stolen.
00:31In Port of Spain, officers from Bessor Street, Belmont and the K-9 unit carried out a drug block operation through several hotspots including Piccadilly Street, Nelson Street, St. Bob's Road and Beatham Gardens.
00:46They seized cocaine and nine cannabis plants.
00:49A separate house search in Digomartin uncovered a Glock .43 pistol, 10 rounds of ammunition, cannabis packaged for trafficking, scales and sealer.
01:01A 32-year-old man was arrested and charged.
01:04Officers later searched a bushy area off Moncoco Road where they found two additional pistols and two magazines hidden in the vegetation.
01:13Meanwhile, in the Central Division, Operation Festive Shield continued.
01:18Officers found 10 rounds of ammunition inside a concrete block in Enterprise and 100 rounds of .22 ammunition hidden inside a refrigerator on an empty lot in McBean Coover.
01:32Investigations into all the seizures are ongoing.
