00:00Police say a coordinated multi-agency operation has disrupted a criminal group believed to be behind a series of home
00:07invasions across central Trinidad.
00:09According to the TTPS, the group referred to as the Tall Boots Crew has been linked to at least 24
00:15reported home invasions in areas including Kanupia, Las Lomas, Chagonas, Freeport and Londonville.
00:21During Saturday's operation, officers from several units including the Home Invasion Team, Central CID, Task Force, Guard and Emergency Branch,
00:31K-9 Unit and the Interagency Task Force moved in on suspects.
00:36Police say two men were arrested while four others were fatally shot during separate confrontations with officers.
00:42Three of the deceased have been identified as Mikael Giuseppe of Kokoreet, Davion Giuseppe of Kanupia and Kevin John.
00:49The identity of a fourth suspect is still being confirmed.
00:53The TTPS says investigations remain ongoing and are at a sensitive stage as efforts continue to dismantle criminal networks involved
01:01in violent home invasions.
01:05Tall Boots are for gardening.
01:07It's the warning coming from Police Commissioner Alistair Guevara as police continue investigations into a criminal group known as the
01:14Tall Boots Crew.
01:15Over the weekend, four men said to be linked to the group were fatally shot by police.
01:22At this time, investigators have not confirmed any formal affiliation between this group and any of the established criminal gangs
01:29operating in this country.
01:31What I can say is that the individuals involved demonstrated a level of coordination amongst themselves which was consistent with
01:41organized criminal activity and this remains a key line of inquiry.
01:46Current intelligence also indicates that the group's primary area of operation was within the Central Division and its surrounding areas.
01:55The pattern of offending observed thus far is largely centered on home invasions.
02:02However, investigators are actively assessing whether the group may be linked to any additional categories of criminal conduct.
02:10With respect to your question about foreign influence, there is no verified information at this stage to suggest external involvement.
02:19That being said, the TTPS continues to examine all possibilities as part of its comprehensive investigative approach.
02:28I want to take this time to remind those who are intent on propagating crime.
02:36Tall Boots are for gardening.
02:38We saw over the weekend that this group tried planting fair.
02:43But we will not allow crime to grow here in our sweet country.
02:46And once you step into criminality, you will reap the harvest that you sow.
02:53Given the ongoing and sensitive nature of the inquiry, the TTPS will provide further updates when it is operationally appropriate
03:02to do so.

03:33While police continue their investigation into the deadly home invasion in Kanupia, in which four suspects were shot dead on
03:40Saturday, police say they are still searching for two suspects involved in the incident.
03:45While police continue the manhunt for these men, two other suspects remain in police custody.
03:50One is being held at a Kareny police station and the other, who was injured during the confrontation with police,
03:56is under police guard at hospital.
03:59Investigators say the two men are being held within the initial 48-hour period, permitted under law.
04:05Once that period expires, police will have to seek authorization from a senior officer above the rank of ASP to
04:11extend their detention for up to seven days.
04:14Sources say beyond that, authorities are also considering the use of emergency powers through a preventative detention order, which would
04:22allow the suspects to be held for the duration of the ongoing state of emergency.
04:28A man was found chopped to death at his home in Aruka today, just after 2.30 p.m.
04:32So far, police have not identified a motive for his killing.
04:35The victim, Israel Ramsahai, was found dead in the bedroom of his 5th street, Bonaire Gardens, Aruka home, with multiple
04:43chopped wounds to his body.
