In response to the Venezuela's President statement that she has mortgaged out T&T's territory to threaten Venezuela, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says he needs to

talk to the President of the United States.

00:00Prime Minister Kamlo Pasalba says Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro needs to talk to the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
00:08That was the Prime Minister's response to the statements made by President Maduro in Venezuela on Monday night
00:14regarding the joint training exercises taking place in Trinidad and Tobago
00:19between the U.S. Marine Corps, 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, and the Trinidad and Tobago Defense Force.
00:25These are the first ministers of the CARICOM in Jamaica to help to recover Jamaica.
00:32And on the other hand, the first minister of Trinidad and Tobago is very enreded.
00:42All the CARICOM Prime Ministers in Jamaica to help with the recovery.
00:47And on the other hand, TNT's Prime Minister is in a situation
00:50because she mortgaged the seas and territory of Trinidad and Tobago to host a military force
00:5615 kilometers from Venezuela at its closest point to threaten Venezuela.
01:01And the people of Trinidad and Tobago are completely against it.
01:06Prime Minister Pasalba says a toll TV6 News, quote,
01:09Maduro needs to speak to Trump.
01:11Those are Trump's warships in international waters.
01:14I have already made clear Trinidad and Tobago's position as it relates to Venezuela, end quote.
01:21While speaking with the media at the White House on Monday,
01:23the U.S. President maintained his administration's position on Venezuela
01:27as the U.S. military now has a major presence in the Caribbean
01:30for what the U.S. says is its war on drug cartels.
01:34President Trump fielded a question about whether, at this point,
01:38he has ruled out U.S. troops being on the ground in Venezuela.
01:41I don't rule out that. I don't rule out anything.
01:45We just have to take care of Venezuela.
01:46I'm not in love with the people running Venezuela.
01:49I love Venezuela. I love the people of Venezuela.
01:52But what they've done to this country,
01:53and I really say this, what Biden and the Democrats have done to this country
01:57can never, ever be forgotten.
01:59You suggested Maduro wants to talk.
02:01Are you prepared to speak with him directly?
02:03Would you commit to doing that before you order strikes?
02:05Yeah, I probably would talk to him. Yeah, I talk to everybody.
02:08President Trump made similar comments about the possibility of him meeting with President Maduro.
02:14Following the U.S. President's first remarks on that matter on Sunday,
02:17Prime Minister Passat-Basasato TV6 used on Monday that dialogue is always the best option
02:22when one comes to the table with honesty, transparency,
02:26and not continuous defense or denial of wrongdoing.
02:30However, the Prime Minister also said she supports both dialogue and direct action.
02:34Prime Minister Passat-Basasato also said on Exxon Monday that
02:37Trinidad and Tobago territory will not be used to launch any attacks against the people of Venezuela.
