00:00The Prime Minister tells the government of Venezuela when dealing with its own security issues, this country is off-limits.
00:07Speaking during the post-Cabinet news conference a short while ago,
00:11Prime Minister Kamala Passat-Besasa was responding to claims by Venezuela's government
00:15that Colombian paramilitary groups have infiltrated eastern Venezuela via Trinidad and Tobago.
00:23Today I want to make it very clear to the Venezuelan government and officials
00:28that they can do whatever they want on Venezuelan territory, but they cannot come here.
00:36TNT territory is off-limits to them.
00:39If Mr. Cabello's comments are a veiled threat to enter TNT territory, they should reconsider any such intention.
00:49The fact is that as a responsible government, we have to take all threats against any incursion into our territory,
00:57very seriously.
00:59I will speak to the Minister of Defence and the Attorney General to seek advice on protections for our Coast Guard,
01:06to use deadly force on any unidentified vessel entering TT waters from Venezuela,
01:14smuggling military-abled men, able-bodied men and women.
01:19TNT is off-limits to them.
01:21The Prime Minister said that her administration has no evidence that supports the Venezuelan government's claims
01:30and no evidence of a national from this country being involved.
01:34The Prime Minister said the government shall be taking a close look at Venezuelans in this country who are of military age.
01:40Following comments from Maduro and Cabello's, we have to now take seriously the threat by that government,
01:49sending their agents into our country to commit acts that can be adverse to our own welfare.
01:56We will also have to take a look at how we go forward with Venezuelan migrants here
02:01who are military-aged and able-bodied men and women.
02:06We have to take this threat seriously now.
02:08Our story takes us to tonight's PeopleMeter.
02:12We are asking you, do you support the hard line taken against Venezuela by the government?
02:18To vote, text yes or no to the number 766-4886 or 766-4TV6.
