00:00A major announcement by Prime Minister Kamala Fisad-Besissa at the end of her speech during the official ceremony for
00:06the handover fire tenders which took place at the Pinal Fire Station has shown how much the once heated relationship
00:12between Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela has cooled down since U.S. forces captured Venezuela's President and First Lady in
00:20January of this year.
00:21While we bring help for more safety and security with these fire tenders, I just want to tell you we've
00:28been working really hard with the government of the United States and other governments and that shortly a diplomatic delegation
00:39will depart Trinidad and Tobago to go to Venezuela to ensure we get our just share of the oil and
00:47gas that we partly own through the NGC.
00:50And so whilst we look to safety and security in this sense, we are looking for your safety and security
00:57in economic space, which is very important. We have not forgotten.
01:01The NGC, the National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago, is actively involved in the projects for the supply of
01:08natural gas from fields in Venezuela including Dragon, which involves Shell, and the Mannequin Coquina Cross Border Field, which involves
01:17BP.
01:17During the former PNM administration, former Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley and former Energy Minister Stuart Young visited Venezuela for
01:25cross-border gas talks, and they continue to defend their trips against criticisms from the UNC-led government.
01:32After the handing over ceremony at the Pinal Fire Station, TV6 users sought to find out more from Prime Minister
01:37Passat-Besessa about the pending trip of the diplomatic mission from Trinidad and Tobago under the government she leads.
01:44Prime Minister, I was just wondering if you'll be part of the delegation to Venezuela.
01:50Work in progress. It's a work in progress. Thank you.
01:55The Prime Minister made her announcement on Wednesday as BPTT and Shell are advancing their talks with the government of
02:01Venezuela, now being led by Interim President Delcy Rodriguez, who is no longer facing sanctions from the U.S.
02:08In February, the U.S. granted a general license for development of petroleum resources in Venezuela.
02:14In October of last year, Venezuela's National Assembly approved a motion declaring the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Persona
02:21Nongrato, a move Prime Minister Passat-Besessa had described as useless.
