00:00was third and then we had Hunter Lawrence who fell in turn one, maybe just got
00:05nudged, clipped by Cooper Webb who was just slightly ahead of him anyway but just
00:09tagged from rear wheels. Then we had Marshall Welton in fifth, great ride for
00:13him, Mitchell Harrison was sixth, Adrian Escoffier seven, Jett Lawrence eight but
00:17Tom Bial was in eleventh place. Those two getting involved in an instant at the
00:21end of the first rhythm, Tom Bial over jumped, was too fast for the triple, way
00:26too short for the quad and face-planted and then hit, whiplash, almost off the
00:31back, the only thing that stopped him going off the back was Jett Lawrence who
00:34ended up next door in the next arena. Good job, Jett, thanks for saving Tom. But yeah,
00:40it would have been like JT said, you know, all... That was the Jett net, he was the
00:44Jett net. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, I guarantee you at the time Jett was like, what are you
00:48doing, dude, you know what I mean? And then upon replay evidence would have
00:51probably gone, oh okay, sorry bud. Yeah, yeah, here we go. Yeah, another eight
00:56minute plus one lap race for the 450s, their final race will be 13 minutes plus
01:01the lap. Anyway, here we go, Monster Energy 15 second board has turned, five
01:06second board has turned, Gates dropped, good reaction there from Webb up the
01:09inside but again, Malcolm Stewart just like he was in race one, getting a good
01:13jump through but everybody safely through the first turn, down the back straight we
01:17go and it is Stewart who leads, Hunter Lawrence second, Jett Lawrence in third and
01:24Cooper Webb in fourth place as they hit the FMX jump, middle of the stadium, through this
01:29long sweeping right, Malcolm Stewart leads as they hit the line for the first time from
01:34both Lawrence's, Hunter and Jett, Webb fourth, Tom Biao, good start fifth, that's why the
01:38fans are on their feet, Cedric Subras, Marshall Welton, Escoffier, Camparese and Mitchell Harrison
01:44in tenth. Alright, this is a boring first lap, no champions are on the ground yet.
01:48This is kind of chalk, this is what we thought we'd see going into the race one of
01:53the night and we'll see how it develops from here but yeah, Malcolm Stewart everybody.
01:58Yeah, Webb is a typical Jett being really patient on the first lap but Webb is all
02:03over him early. Ask him in here guys, Webb up to third.
02:10Jett has shown a propensity and this is a really short race so he doesn't have the time he would
02:14typically have but this has been something he does in America and he usually ends up making
02:19up for it but the first laps have really not been his friend.
02:23So Malcolm Stewart leads, great whoop speed but Hunter Lawrence matching him
02:29every step of the way there in second. Cooper Webb third coming towards it now, holds a nice tight
02:33line, makes a shorter run through then goes double, triple and then just on off at the end of the
02:40straight. Yeah, Jett went a little long on the 2-3. I don't think he really wanted to go 2-3
02:44anyway but Webb kind of crossed in front of his line. Yeah, I think he kept going out right at the last minute.
02:51So Webb, his quote after the race was yeah, we had a couple of problems during the race which is why
02:57he said Malcolm passed. We've all surmised it may have been arm-pumped between all three of us.
03:01What do you reckon guys? Well, Steve was saying that maybe they were working on some clutch
03:07adjustment stuff there. So it'll be interesting to get his comments after to find out if it was
03:10arm-pumped, was something with the motorcycle. But either way, you can't take anything away from
03:14Malcolm Stewart who won the first race. He's come out swinging in race two in a fantastic position
03:19here with just under six minutes plus a lap to go. Hunter Lawrence ain't gonna let him off the hook
03:23though. No, exactly. I saw Hunter cutting that corner right there that we just saw really tight in the
03:28Super Pole and in his qualifying earlier. I wonder if he switches to that a little bit and doesn't drift all
03:32the way to the outside. But other than that, I mean, Malcolm's strength is the whoops. So if you're
03:36Hunter Lawrence, you're like, I gotta do something to corners. It's gotta be corners. That one there
03:40and the one before the whoops. But you go too aggressive in that turn before the whoops, you lose
03:46your drive to get across and clean. And they're not the smallest whoops, are they? No, these are good.
03:51Everyone was talking about the track walk and how big they were. And Malcolm, you know, he's not all the
03:58way back. You know, I was mentioning it and I mentioned that two 13-minute, I meant tonight
04:02and tomorrow, but just accumulation of laps, right? Is he going to have this type of intensity,
04:08this type of burst over the course of two full days? I was gonna say two days, but the last race
04:12being a 13-minute plus a lap. So that's almost, you know, a 14-minute race. Could be a 20-lap
04:16around this tight, compact circuit. More open than the old bursty, of course. But, you know, how long has he
04:22been back on the bike? It's a lot of riding at this pace when you're not fully prepared. And I would argue
04:27that none of them are on Anaheim form yet. But if you really haven't been riding much and you
04:33haven't been doing much, which is probably the case for Malcolm, it's going to wear on him, correct?
04:37Yeah. This is his sixth ride since SMX. So not, like JT said, not Anaheim one ready at all for Malcolm.
04:44But he's holding really strong here. It's impressive. Here's Tom Vial. He's in fifth place at the moment
04:48for Honda HRC, of course, for those who've been in the wilderness, stuck under a rock. Oh,
04:51big rush for Harrison. On the finish line jump. Oh, sorry, just in the whoops, actually.
04:58Just he'd gone over the track into the run-in after the finish line. So Mitchell Harrison then
05:04making a mistake. Where was he? He was in eighth place.
05:08That's two for two for Harrison. He crashed both mains so far.
05:10But he had a rubber for him. Yeah, but he had a good run and he had a good result in the first race,
05:14coming home actually in sixth despite the fall in the sand here, wherever it was.
05:19Anyway, Malcolm Stewart still holding a slender one-and-a-half seconds and then he'll open that
05:24up to about two seconds through the whoops. Boy, you two are ex-racers and you guys are all the
05:28same, you racers. You're all the same. Malcolm told me, look, I've only ridden six times.
05:33I'm coming off injury. I got to be really safe here. I just want to, you know, do my laps and bring it
05:38home. And now he's on the verge of going two for two. So you racers are all the same. You guys are liars.
05:43No, no, no. Basically what he's done is just put that message out there to his rivals,
05:47where they've just gone, yeah, Malcolm's just saying they're just going to play it safe and
05:50everything else. And yeah, it's just a reverse psychology. What were you saying in 94?
05:53It's a destination. I'm just going to play it safe. Yeah, exactly. Look what happened.
05:57Brought it home. Yeah. But yeah, no, absolutely. I'm very impressed with Malcolm right now.
06:02Right. Jet closing in, dare we say, on Cooper Webb for this third place.
06:09Remember, it's one point for a win, two for second. Nations style.
06:14Oh, nice. Here we go. Down the inside into the... I wish I could corner like that.
06:19I wish I could corner like that. All humans wish they could corner like that.
06:21Oh, that was ridiculous. Again, when you talk about setting up a pass,
06:25that was perfect there from Jet. Got out of the turn early, pretty much ran close to the top blocks,
06:30down past the whoops, into that sand section. And Cooper Webb was always on the outside there.
06:35There was no way he was going to get back across. Yeah. And this is, this is prototypical jet here.
06:40But in the US, there would be another 14 minutes plus a lap or, you know, motocross a lot longer
06:47than that to sort out what he would need to do for the rest of the race. This is not that. These short
06:51races, I don't think he's going to magically change his MO that he's established over the course of
06:56years. But you can see where those, the hesitation on the early laps, the inability to be his on his best
07:01form is setting it back. Look how closely he's closing Hunter down now that he's kind of found
07:06that pace. I remember when the, when he first rode the 450 here a couple of years ago and
07:10from out of nowhere, he found two seconds in the lap just to sort of get himself back in the hunt.
07:13And I was wondering whether that was going to happen now that he just found his way past Cooper
07:17Webb. Steve was there. He'll remember this all too clearly at Vegas. He drops two seconds a lap out of
07:23nowhere to go win the championship. That is, that's not normal behavior. Most riders can't,
07:28simply can't do that. So we'll see if he's got something like that in the tank here.
07:31Both Lawrence brothers set their best lap that last time around. So they are heating up.
07:36But Malcolm Stewart, 44.8 last time around, sorry, 44.9 last time around.
07:47But he still has 1.6. So again, he gets it out to about two seconds at the end of the whoops.
07:52Hunter closes him back down. Then it goes back out again, that concertina effect through the
07:59whoops, Jett Lawrence. These two know each other very, very well on the training ground,
08:03don't they? At the farm down there in Florida.
08:08And what a different Hunter Lawrence we've seen this time. You know, last year he was all at sea,
08:13didn't have any setup, just struggled all weekend long. Just looks a different rider now. But that's
08:18another year on the bike. Yep. Absolutely. Right. It's a little bit knowing that this new chassis,
08:22the new bike, nothing much has changed from it. Absolutely. Exactly the same bike as the year before.
08:26So they really struggled with that chassis early in 2025. They could not figure that bike out. I mean,
08:36what arguably the worst race comprehensively between the two of them of their career at Anaheim last year.
08:42And they quickly found what they needed to. Kudos to Honda HRC, but what a difference a year makes. And not
08:48that they're necessarily on fire at the moment, but they're a far cry from where they were a year ago.
08:54Boy, I just can't be, I can't say it about Malcolm Stewart right now. We are 10 seconds to go until
08:59the white flag comes out next time around. And he is winning again, 1.5 up on Hunter. I thought Hunter
09:05would reel him in a little bit. And good job, Rockstar. I mean, really, you hate to say effortless,
09:11because of course he's trying, but really not under duress kind of at all. Just another example.
09:16You can't believe anything riders tell you, people, the media, everything else. I mean,
09:20I just literally had a conversation with Malcolm about how he's taking it easy. Yeah. Well,
09:23Malcolm is going to go 1-1 at the moment. That's going to be a score of two, the lowest
09:27maximum score possible. Hunter Lawrence with his two plus the four is going to give him six.
09:31Jet Lawrence with a three and a, where was he? Eighth in race one. He's going to give him 11,
09:36but there's going to be some people in and around there. Webb, for instance,
09:39Webb and Hunter will be tied. Yeah. Six. Yeah.
09:44Just for tonight. Yep. Remember, all six races count. Lowest scores every single race.
09:51And BL's rebounded nicely. I mean, from a bad gate pick again, just like we talked about,
09:55right? He didn't have the smoothest qualifying today, but BL's running strong in fifth. But this
09:59man here on the screen, he is on fire. Yeah. White flag is out. So Malcolm Stewart now with 2.7
10:07seconds over Hunter. Nervous look behind there as he gets held up by a back marker,
10:11wants to know exactly where Jet is. Well, Jet's about 5.8 seconds further back. So Jet
10:16just losing, or just three seconds behind his brother, actually. I have to imagine Webb's going
10:21to be pretty frustrated with this ride too. He was kind of there in position and they put some time into
10:27him. Yeah. Hold up five seconds, Jet did, on Cooper Webb, right? Final turn. Mookie goes 1-1.
10:34Well, must be the fans on his side because his quote after the race was, you know, you guys are all
10:40cheering for me. You keep it going. Your man Mookie is going to show up for race two, race three, and all
10:44the rest of it. That's exactly what he's done. Malcolm Stewart going 1-1. Hunter Lawrence taking
10:48a second. Jet Lawrence the third. Cooper Webb, four. Tom Vial, top five on his new ride. Cedric
10:54Subaras. And then we wait for Marshall Welton, Adrian Escoffier, eight. Lucas Amber and Ander
10:59Valentin should round out the top ten. Not as dramatic and eventful as race one,
11:06but for Malcolm Stewart, he will not mind that one bit, JT. No. Boring is good for Malcolm at
11:12the moment. That was surprising as much as it was impressive.
11:16Did he grab the Milwaukee hole shot? Or was it Hunter? Was it Webb up the inside? It was very,
11:28very tight. That inside is so tricky, right? It's hard to say who gets the wheel there first.
11:32It almost doesn't matter because somebody on the outside could go right by with tripling in there.
11:36I was telling JT that last year Malcolm was just slightly off the pace, was really, really
11:41concerned about getting some Milwaukee tools and Milwaukee drills and things to the point where he was making
11:45deals with the guys in the pits here with his jerseys and stuff to get Milwaukee tools.
11:50Yeah. Well, now he's getting more Milwaukee. It's raining down on him, so Malcolm's going to be
