00:00Another window.
00:00Yeah, for a racer like Mitchell Harrison, you know, these guys are, this is guaranteed money for them, right?
00:05So there's no pressure, but you never know who's watching, right?
00:08These teams that are looking for talented racers like the Mitchell Harrison, it's a tryout for a lot of those teams.
00:15You know, whether he has an opportunity at 26 at home or not, you want to put your best foot forward.
00:20Hunter and Jet, Jet with, sorry, Hunter with first pick, Jet with seventh.
00:24They still line up side by side midway along on the left side of the gate.
00:27So they didn't go gate one, two, three.
00:28That's an upside for Jet, right?
00:30There really was no penalty in that scenario then.
00:34I thought it was interesting to see Coop go very inside gate.
00:37Monster Energy 15 second board up, that'll turn, then level C five seconds, and we will get an eight minute plus a lap race here.
00:45450s, SX1 is about to get underway here in Paris.
00:49Malcolm Stewart with a good jump, and it's going to be Malcolm Stewart if he holds the inside line on the exit.
00:55Webb with the Milwaukee hole shot, a couple riders going down.
00:58And Hunter Lawrence down.
01:02And the 72 of Luka, Imbert.
01:04And is that Jet?
01:05Fial just took Jet out.
01:06He didn't mean to.
01:07He did not mean to, but that was a hard hit.
01:10So both Hunter and Jet then, suffering in Super Pole and the opening lap here of race one.
01:17But it's Cooper Webb who leads.
01:18He grabbed the Milwaukee hole shot.
01:20Stewart in second.
01:22Cedric Stuberas is third.
01:23Fourth behind them is Marshall Welton, another journeyman.
01:27Mitchell Harrison just behind him in fifth.
01:28Adrian Escoffier, Roman Pat, Valentin, and a Valentin in eighth.
01:32Paul Harberland and Adrian Malaveau.
01:35But Cooper Webb on the Yamaha.
01:38Monster Energy Yamaha leading the way.
01:41I'd love to see if we can get a replay of that hit between Fial.
01:44Jet turned down a little bit, but Fial jumped really deep into the berm.
01:47And it's really tricky on that opening lap.
01:50You have to be so aware of your surroundings.
01:53So here's the first incident.
01:58Oh, he just got tagged probably by Webb on the way through.
02:01Watch Fial get deep here.
02:03Oh, overjumped.
02:04Oh, face plant.
02:06Yeah.
02:06That was completely unintentional.
02:09Yeah, he massively overjumped and then cased and headbutted the handlebar.
02:13Whiplash on the way out.
02:14Yeah.
02:14Didn't know where he was.
02:16And the difficult part for Jet is Jet seeing redder than that Honda right now.
02:21And until he gets a replay or someone speaks to him, he's going to think Fial did that with intent.
02:26Yeah.
02:27Clearly it was not the case.
02:28No, no, no.
02:29Well, he's right at the back.
02:30He's, uh, where is he on track?
02:33Just through the whoops now.
02:35Through the first turn.
02:36He made his way past Fial somehow.
02:38Not sure if Fial maybe stopped to get his bike tweaked or what happened there.
02:42But Jet's already made his way past.
02:44So Webb leads.
02:45Malcolm Stewart second.
02:46Stubb third.
02:47Welton fourth.
02:48Harrison fifth.
02:49No change in the top five.
02:50In fact, yeah, Harrison is up.
02:54And so, too, is Welton.
02:56So Harrison up to four.
02:57Welton down to five.
03:00It'll be interesting to see what, uh, what Malcolm's endurance is like.
03:03Steve Mathis sent a text in, and we'll speak to him in a little while.
03:06But he was just saying that Malcolm's preparation for 26 isn't where he wanted it to be.
03:10Just, uh, he had some injuries during the playoffs in Super Motocross.
03:13So he is working through the recovery process.
03:17Who's that?
03:17Uh, for Malcolm Stewart.
03:18So I think sprint speed has never been a problem for Malcolm.
03:21But especially when you think about that 13-minute plus a lap after all of these laps later, I'll be curious to see what that looks like.
03:29Great ride this at the moment for Mitchell Harrison there.
03:31Look, number 86.
03:32Just using this as an opportunity, just to put himself in a shop window and show what he's capable of.
03:41And it's not easy, is it, traveling the globe and riding for different teams, different bikes, different setups.
03:46You get an engine one week and then something completely different.
03:49Different brand of suspension, different gear brands, and therefore different boots and things like that.
03:53As Lawrence, Hunter Lawrence, up the inside of Van der Waalenten there as he moves into seventh place.
03:58Jet Lawrence, up in the twelfth, he had a thirteenth last year, won the next five, and still lost out.
04:06I see Hunter's fork guard there broken off.
04:08Probably won't inhibit anything.
04:10But carnage, carnage early for the Lawrences so far.
04:15And it's really important, like, if you fancy yourself being the King of Paris this weekend, you need to make up positions now.
04:21Look at Jet last year.
04:23One out, but a really difficult first race cost him the championship.
04:29Yeah, last year he won the first race and then crashed in race two, thirteenth.
04:33Then he won the next four races.
04:35Eighteen points he finished on.
04:36So it's one for a win, two for a second.
04:38That scoring system this weekend.
04:40Cooper Webb never finished lower than third.
04:43Had just the one race win, three seconds and a couple of thirds.
04:46He finished on 13 points.
04:48And Malcolm Stewart, 16, too clear of Jet Lawrence.
04:51So these are kind of the parameters.
04:53Jet Lawrence is still circulating.
04:56We've got Roman Papp ahead of him.
05:00But the good news is there's still just under four minutes plus a lap to go.
05:04Good run down the whoops there for Malcolm Stewart.
05:08I wonder if, when was the last time Cooper Webb, I mean, he's been riding and training.
05:12And Stewart rocks down the inside.
05:14I was going to say arm pump, things like that.
05:16Is that a possibility here with Webb?
05:18Could be.
05:18But, you know, I don't necessarily see him too far off the pace.
05:22He's still turning really good lap times here.
05:24I think Malcolm's just putting in a splurge here to try to get past him.
05:27But this is Cooper Webb's strength, right?
05:30Like, he doesn't really crack under pressure.
05:31He's very good at defensive riding.
05:34So he's going to learn where Malcolm's speed is.
05:36Certainly it's always the whoops.
05:37But I think he's just going to try to wait Malcolm out here.
05:40Every single attempt that fails will just be a little bit more difficult for Malcolm to make a move.
05:45So Webb and Stewart separated by eight tenths.
05:50And this time he runs it down the inside.
05:53He rehearsed a lap ago.
05:55Wasn't able to find his way through.
05:56And, oh, he's off the side of the track.
05:59Rejoins.
06:00But that looks like Malcolm Stewart may just have done enough now.
06:04He's definitely charging anyway.
06:06Did you see that new line he put together there?
06:08Quad before the exit of that.
06:11So that's a new rhythm unlocked there.
06:13About to see that the next lap around.
06:15I wonder if he's just.
06:17Because I don't think he did it in time practice.
06:19No, that's the first time I've seen anybody pull that.
06:21So we talk about that.
06:23People have new rhythms in their back pocket.
06:25That was a new one.
06:26His brother James was famous for that.
06:28Would save big rhythms and time savings for when it counted.
06:32Good corner speed through there.
06:34Good whoop speed again out of our window.
06:36Here's Hunter Lawrence.
06:36He's still circulating in seventh place.
06:39Adrian Escoffier just ahead of him there on the 137.
06:42The Yamaha rider, the Frenchman.
06:43He's the second best French rider after Cedric Subarac in third.
06:48Two minutes to go plus a lap.
06:49So around about two minutes and 44 seconds left to run in this race.
06:54You're asking when was the last time these guys would have been battling.
06:59Towards the end of the Supercross championship, Malcolm was getting better battling forward.
07:04And Koop was just trying to hang on to it.
07:06So those races, Denver, Salt Lake, they were actually battling a lot more than people would have probably remembered.
07:11Yeah, but you can see Hunter Lawrence gaining hand over fist over Adrian Escoffier.
07:16Marshall Welton just ahead of him in the reddish boots.
07:20He is in fifth place.
07:21Hunter Lawrence, if he can get a top five, he keeps his King of Paris aspirations well and truly alive.
07:26Jet still in 12th place with some work to do.
07:32Again, if he can break into the top ten, that makes his job a little bit easier.
07:34But he's going to have to be inch perfect from there, which on tonight's evidence so far, that doesn't even look like it's a possibility.
07:43Right now.
07:45Anyway, Hunter Lawrence is going to try to cut to the inside here.
07:50He does.
07:50And Harrison down out of fourth place.
07:54That's a big help for Hunter.
07:55So a twofer in a corner there because two positions gained by Hunter Lawrence.
07:59He goes past the fallen Mitchell Harrison and Adrian Escoffier.
08:03He will move into fifth place, fourth place, maybe, because Welton is still ahead of them.
08:13Jet Lawrence up into 11th, so he's found his way past Roman Pat.
08:16Fial in 13th.
08:23But action-packed drama in the first couple of laps.
08:27Certainly in the first couple of corners.
08:29Hunter Lawrence going after Welton here.
08:31Yeah, this would be big.
08:32Moving into fourth here would be a really nice recovery.
08:36Going down to the first corner certainly was helped by the Vial jet incident, too.
08:41But all these hidden points you don't think about right now, but tomorrow evening you will be.
08:46And in terms of Monster Energy Supercross, qualifying races, how long are they?
08:49Eight minutes or eight laps?
08:51For qualifying sessions?
08:52Yeah.
08:53Yeah, yeah.
08:53The heat races.
08:54They're eight minutes plus eight minutes, actually.
08:56Sorry.
08:57So about the same.
08:58Maybe the track is just slightly under par in terms of speed.
09:0244, five seconds.
09:03Yeah.
09:03And you have to remember, these guys aren't really in race condition right now.
09:07Sure, they have their base fitness from prior season, but they haven't been doing all the laps.
09:11You know, October leading up is kind of an off month.
09:13Some testing, but not a lot of race laps.
09:16So they're going to be feeling it more than they normally would.
09:19Lawrence moves into fourth.
09:20So we were talking the potential to try and get to a top five.
09:23Then obviously he found his way past Escoffier, Mitchell, and all of a sudden he's found his way past Welton.
09:28Moves into fourth place.
09:30Jett up to ninth.
09:31That's a big move for Jett as well.
09:32Massive.
09:33Thinking about points.
09:34And he's only two seconds down on Valentine.
09:36I think you can get him in the final lap.
09:38Jett Lawrence could find his way to eighth.
09:40What a ride by Malcolm here.
09:41Oh, fantastic.
09:43And I wasn't taking anything away from Mookie when I was talking about Cooper where maybe potential arm pump.
09:48But we saw the intent was clear right from the very first lap from Malcolm Stewart.
09:53In terms of, I'm here, I'm not playing silly buggers anymore.
09:55I'm here to play for real.
09:56Well, and it really felt like Cooper kind of had it under control.
09:59He went immediately to the front and looked like he was firmly in control, but Malcolm just had too much pace.
10:06Two corners to go.
10:08And then the one lap board should go out, I believe.
10:10Or are we getting ready for...
10:13Yeah, there's the flag.
10:16Malcolm Stewart wins race one.
10:18Comfortably over Cooper Webb, who's still yet to cross the line and crosses the line now.
10:27That gap, nine and a half seconds.
10:31Or 11, 12 seconds.
10:32Yeah, well.
10:34Yeah, 11.9, 12 seconds in the end.
10:37Cedric Zubras, third.
10:38Hunter Lawrence will be fourth.
10:39Marshall Welton will be fifth.
10:41And we've got Mitchell Harris and Escoffier.
10:42Jet Lawrence is in eighth at the moment.
10:47And just looking out of the window.
10:51For, yeah, Jet Lawrence is not going to find his way past Escoffier.
10:54Escoffier is too far back because Escoffier over the line now and Jet Lawrence just about to hit the line as we speak.
11:02But great ride for Malcolm Stewart on the number 27.
11:05The Rockstar Energy has Fahna Ryder getting off to the perfect start here in Paris, JT.
11:12Yeah, that was picture perfect.
11:15He won't have any idea of the chaos that went on behind him, but neither will he care.
11:20And when you have to start stacking the scores up when you want to be on the podium at the end of two days, and that's a great way to get going.
11:28So Malcolm Stewart, Cooper Webb, Cedric Zubras.
11:34Hunter Lawrence.
11:37Here's the Milwaukee hole shot.
11:38So Cooper Webb, look how tight Webb was through there.
11:41That was the Luke Clout move.
11:43Same exact thing.
11:44What a way better jump than Clout had, but same strategy.
11:46A wheel in it.
11:48But it was Malcolm Stewart who had the last left.
11:51And then we had that carnage right away.
11:55Yeah, it looked like he just got tagged there by Webb, who, as he came out of that turn, obviously it wasn't intentional.
12:02Just enough to lift the front.
12:04Yeah.
12:04Cooper Webb, hi Cooper, first race of the night.
12:09You're on that wean angle, it doesn't take much to push the front.
12:11And then after a big fight with Malcolm and a second place.
12:14Yeah, yeah, it was good to lead some laps and get a great start, but yeah, had a bit of a struggle that moto.
12:19So we'll go back and regroup and get better, but yeah, it was fun to battle.
12:24Trout is great, and I'll take it.
12:25Nice hole shot.
12:26So he's still happy, he rode well, he took a good start, but he wasn't completely relaxed.
12:30Yeah, decent race, decent start.
12:31Malcolm pushed behind, he was very happy for the shot.
12:33Yeah, but like I say, in terms of where they want to be from A1 in January, Milwaukee, there's a little bit of work to do for all of them.
12:40You know, they're not running close to 100%, as you said, Jace.
12:42Significant amount of money says he had our pump there.
12:45Yeah.
12:46Like all of a sudden, with the premier vainqueur, Paris Defensive Arena, the vainqueur, it's Mr. Malcolm Stewart!
12:53He's all smiles at the minute.
12:55As he should be.
12:56Absolutely.
12:56Malcolm, yesterday, you told me, the moves are big.
13:00Yes, there's other stuff going on, but I'm going to be in it to win it.
13:02And those are some of the toughest guys he'll have to face in 2026, I can tell you that.
13:06The whoops, they're super hard for me, it's my first Supercross for a moment.
13:10So I asked him, and finally, it was easy.
13:13I think it's just the hype from you fans.
13:15That's what it's all about.
13:16You know, we're here to put on a show.
13:18I just want to say a huge shout out to the whole organization, Eric Pernard, for bringing me over here.
13:23This is awesome, and I'm glad to get one race in front of you guys as a win, but you guys keep that noise going, you're going to see your boy keep going in these whoops.
13:32So, it's simple, he told me, actually, the whoops are not obvious, but the public is so crazy.
13:39Look at the speed, he came from about five-byte lengths back, and he was up the inside.
13:44Coop read it well, though, and obviously just backed out of it.
13:47Coop Web saying, yeah, just had, you know, one or two issues here and there, which we'll go and work on in the break, whether that's arm pump or whatever else.
13:55But he knew it was there, there was just no comeback, no need to either.
13:58Ah, that's experience, he could sense it, just kind of like we talked about with Quout and Bourdain in the first one, sense that move coming up the inside.
14:06Thank you, Malcolm.
14:07What a piece of Malcolm Stewart, and especially some passages in the hoops.
14:11Super sonic, incredible piece of Malcolm Stewart.
14:15So Malcolm Stewart then gets things off underway.
14:18So what-
