00:00I'm through the whoops all weekend I think. Yeah, I think so too. They tend to get smaller as the guys work on them more and all of that and as they get rolled a little more. But man, they still look pretty treacherous to me. But they look clean. I love the way they use the roller here. I'm a fan of that.
00:13I'll tell you what, if they would have let me, I would have been out there working on them between race one and race two myself if I was racing.
00:19Fly racing. Sorry, the Monster Energy 15 second board up for the final time this evening.
00:25Essex to final race. Inside gates one and two. Clout with a good gate and so too Jules Pietra.
00:34And both our guys who are varying for the top couple of positions there and around about seven or eight through the first corner.
00:40Clout rebounds or rebounds well though and re-emerges in fifth place. Bourdon three or four positions further back.
00:48That's a great start by Cannon. He's literally shot out of there like a cannon.
00:53Yeah, I'll be here all weekend. Good job. Jake Cannon leads in as they hit the line. Calvin Fonvier second.
00:59Clout already up to third. Galena Humphrey on the start is in fourth. Julian LeBeau, Jules Pietra, Sard Sunimani, Anthony Bourdon buried in eighth place.
01:08It's a good job. He's got a nine-minute race here this time around because five minutes wouldn't have been good enough to even get a sniff towards the front.
01:16Yeah, and it's, you know, certainly Clout doesn't know where Bourdon is at the moment, but if he can get to the front and build any sort of gap right now, that may be too much to close down.
01:26It's impressive ride by Cannon so far to start, though. He's kind of gotten better and better a little bit.
01:30Oh, Clout was in the second by Fonvier, and so now this is his teammate in front of him.
01:36Which, I mean, Clout's been faster for them all weekend, so this probably won't take too long, maybe in the books here.
01:41Steve, you know that's Charlie Cannon's brother?
01:43I did not know that.
01:44Yes, Australian.
01:45Yep.
01:46Yeah, pretty talented family, to say the least.
01:48Yeah.
01:49Similar to Lachlan Turner, Lachlan Turner.
01:50And there you go.
01:51There was the pass around the outside.
01:54He made it happen as we just cut away.
01:56And Fonvier looking for a way up the inside. Cannon unseated as he entered the sand there, so hanging on to that second position at the moment.
02:03I wonder if he can try and follow his teammate through a lap here just to sort of see on line choice and things like that, just to try and, you know, break free from Calvin Fonvier, because Clout definitely has more pace.
02:15Well, Bourdon just got another spot in the sand, so Bourdon is moving up here. He got in the fifth right now, so this starts right ahead of him.
02:23Before you start seeing Clout.
02:25Humphrey's pretty impressive here, sitting in fourth.
02:27I mean, we haven't really seen him have a lot of breakthrough rides racing.
02:31Yeah.
02:32Super talented kid, does a lot of different disciplines of riding, but this has been pretty impressive from him.
02:38Yeah, and here he is just under pressure from Bourdon through the whoops.
02:41Bourdon looking to make a move, and he makes it stick, moves into fourth place.
02:44Now he has daylight, and Calvin Fonvier just ahead of him on the number 11 KTM.
02:49Of course, he's the championship leader.
02:51Or has Fonvier gone through? Yeah, Fonvier has found his way past Cannon, it looks like.
02:56Or has he? Yes, he has, into second on the number 11.
02:59Just lead rider in shot in the left-hander now.
03:01That's Cannon to the outside, Bourdon on to the inside over the stripe.
03:04But Clout, just over a second clear of the Frenchman Calvin Fonvier.
03:10But number three, Jake Cannon.
03:15Yeah, like a cannon out of the start.
03:18And still hanging on in there in that third place at the moment.
03:21But it's his whoops speed that just let him down.
03:23But that might improve by the time he gets to tomorrow.
03:25As you said, Steve Mathis, those whoops just get a little bit easier, a little bit smaller through the course of the weekend.
03:30There was the pass there from Bourdon.
03:32Cannon fodder from Bourdon there.
03:33Oh, Bourdon!
03:34I'm on fire here.
03:35Bourdon's got to get busy here if he wants to get a chance at this.
03:39Clout hasn't made a lot of mistakes.
03:41Obviously, he passed him in the first main event really impressively.
03:44But he's got to latch onto him.
03:45And man, if you look at this lap times right now, Clout is at 47 flat.
03:50He just set his fastest time.
03:51Bourdon's 47-2, and he's four seconds back.
03:54So Bourdon's got to start flipping that off quick.
03:57Yeah, Cannon 7-6 so far.
04:00And currently in fourth now with Bourdon going past a moment ago.
04:05But again, a rider from Australia.
04:06He enjoys riding Supercross.
04:08He came over and did a Futures race beginning of this year.
04:11And obviously, he did an Aussie race last year.
04:13But in between that, he's been doing European Championship in the MX 250.
04:16So not getting a lot of Supercross time as Bourdon forces his way up the inside on Femme PA into second place.
04:23So, well, should we have been concerned with his eighth or tenth place start?
04:28Clearly not.
04:29No, not really, right?
04:30Got some time to make up here.
04:32But fortunately for him now, first race and second race was five minutes plus the lap.
04:36That's exactly what he's got left.
04:37So he's got, you know, he's in a position where he's about, what, three seconds maybe?
04:43Four seconds?
04:44He was three tenths quicker than that lap Bourdon was than Luke Clout.
04:47So he's starting to, he wants to get it done.
04:49He's starting to make it happen.
04:50That's the overall classification at the moment.
04:52So that's how it will look podium tonight.
04:55No Prince will be crowned until tomorrow after two days of racing.
04:58But Anthony Bourdon, his gap, the gap is four seconds, 4.1 seconds at the moment.
05:03But Luke Clout, what a fantastic ride for him.
05:05Not sure how long he's been in Europe and whether he's been going backwards and forwards or not.
05:09But certainly I think he goes to Australia a week from now.
05:11Yeah.
05:12He's been back, yeah.
05:13I think he just came up for Stuttgart.
05:14Came straight to Versailles and then he'll go back and finish the Australian Championship.
05:18I'll tell you what though, this is so difficult here because he can hear the crowd cheering for Bourdon.
05:24And I don't know if you can pick it up on the broadcast or not, but the crowd is really behind Bourdon here.
05:36And I think it's really hard to fight that off mentally because everything's working in Bourdon's favor with that adrenaline and momentum and push forward.
05:45But continues to put in great lap time.
05:46So I like the mental fortitude that Cloud has shown so far.
05:51Still hovering around four seconds, so three and a half minutes plus a lap to go.
05:57Will it be a mistake or backmarkers that determines the outcome of this final race and the top step of the podium here on day one in Paris at the Paris Le Dupont Arena,
06:08Nanterre, about five miles north of the Eiffel Tower.
06:13The crowd definitely get behind Anthony Bourdon here.
06:17That was a great through that rhythm section there.
06:19Saad Soleimani and Jewel Pietra bar to bar here.
06:22And having a little bit of cat and mouse, Pietra wins that battle as he moves into sixth place.
06:29And these two still going at it.
06:31And Pietra is ironing up the podium here.
06:34He's a little bit loose there.
06:35Meanwhile up front, Cloud keeps putting a tick or two on Bourdon the last three laps in a row.
06:41Slowly opening that lead up.
06:42It's 4.5 seconds now.
06:44So Cloud looked like he lost some time for a couple of laps and it was time for Bourdon to go.
06:48But Cloud has stabilized and now slowly pulling away from Bourdon.
06:52And we've got six to go.
06:53Here comes Pietra.
06:54Sorry, we've got seven minutes to go.
06:55Two and a half.
06:57What?
06:58Oh, sorry.
06:59My bad.
07:00Like a Canadian hat.
07:01The exchange.
07:04I was just looking at Pietra and Saad Soleimani going at it there, that last lap.
07:08Back and forth.
07:09Saad Soleimani is short, stocky.
07:11You know, you wouldn't want to mess with him in terms of the riders in this category.
07:14Especially when you're Jules Pietro who looks like a wafer thin.
07:18I've seen more meat on a Sparrow's kneecap.
07:20You know what I mean?
07:21Yeah, Sparrow's kneecap.
07:22I've seen a lot of those.
07:24But these two still fighting over that, what, sixth place in the race.
07:30But two French's, well...
07:33French by way of Morocco.
07:35By Morocco.
07:36He lives here and everything else.
07:37But yeah, he's Moroccan, first of all.
07:39But Clout, yeah, extending his lead to almost five seconds as they hit the line at the end of lap eight.
07:49Minute 40 to go, plus a lap.
07:52Still impressive, this, though, from Jules Pietro.
07:56And Les Clout makes a big mistake.
07:58He's got this.
07:59He's got this style.
08:00With Bourdain, though, you know you took one main event win passing him this week.
08:03Tomorrow's three more, right?
08:05Yeah.
08:06Anything can happen so Clout can get the bad start like Bourdain did this main event.
08:09So I think if you're Anthony Bourdain, like, hey, man, you know, I went one, two, two.
08:14Close to him.
08:15And, you know, you can pack it up and wait for another day.
08:17And the other thing as well, yeah, Paris is always two days of racing and intense racing as well,
08:21especially with those whoops thrown in as big as they are.
08:24You know, it's like these guys will head back to the hotel, still fueled with adrenaline.
08:29They'll eventually get to sleep probably around about 2 o'clock in the morning.
08:32Then they'll wake up.
08:33It's a day show tomorrow.
08:34We're live from 2 o'clock Central European time here rather than 7 o'clock in the evening.
08:39So we'll be all done and dusted around about 5.30 in the evening.
08:44And so obviously, yeah, they'll get a little bit of sleep.
08:46Then they're on track.
08:47There won't be a free practice.
08:48It'll be straight into time practice.
08:50There'll be a short window then.
08:51We'll open the doors and then we've got the program a little bit more revised and fine-tuned for day two.
08:56It usually is.
08:58Well, I've got a little scary there, but he saved himself by the end.
09:01JT, you would have hated these whoops.
09:03I hate it all whoops, Steve.
09:05So, yes, by default, you are absolutely correct.
09:07Seattle stuff.
09:08You like indie stuff.
09:09I tell you what, though, like in that situation, it helps Klout to be taller.
09:13There's so much, right?
09:15When you get a little loose, the motorcycle doesn't put you out of position because you have so much more clearance.
09:20Yeah, the gap now, 5.3.
09:21I think Vordon is, well, actually, you know what?
09:22He was two seconds off pretty much in the time practice session as well.
09:27So I'm not sure if he just hit a wall after that first race and then that second race result and then into Super Bowl.
09:35Because he hasn't been the same.
09:37He was impressive coming through the field, but either Luke Klout was just responded.
09:42Yeah, I think Klout's just cleaned it up a little bit.
09:44I honestly do.
09:48Because the gap now, six seconds, but it's only day one.
09:51He's going to be second overall.
09:53There's only going to be a point separating them as they go into day two.
09:56Luke Klout is heading for the checkered flag because time is up.
10:00We've got Wave Jellos here.
10:03Spider down off the side of the track there.
10:05Oh, that looks like Humphrey.
10:06Yeah, that looks like Humphrey.
10:07Yeah.
10:08Yeah, he's gone down out of seventh place.
10:11Maybe just came up short on that Milwaukee wall jump there.
10:14You come out of the left, you've got like a little step on.
10:17Very easy to make that mistake, but a couple of corners to go for Luke Klout.
10:26And Luke Klout takes his second win of the night.
10:30He's gone 2-1-1 back-to-back in his race wins.
10:33He will lead after day one.
10:35Gordon second.
10:36He'll be second overall.
10:37And Calvin Fonvie will probably be third on the podium ahead of Jules Pietra.
10:43But then Jake Cannon starts in there as well.
10:45But your race finishes with Luke Klout, Bordon and Fonvie, Cannon 4 and Saad Suleimani 5th.
10:52Jules Pietra losing out the battle between him and Saad Suleimani.
10:56Michael Lamarck will be seventh.
10:57Hugo Manzato, Andrea Bonifacio, Karl Osterman of Germany.
11:01And then it will be Dorian Koch of France.
11:06Nice to see the sportsmanship between the top three guys there.
11:08All happy and congratulating each other.
11:10There you go.
11:11As I mentioned, the freestyle.
11:12It wasn't quite the same, but I'd still like to see it.
11:14Now they're chatting as well about making plans to go to dinner tonight and everything else.
11:20It's got a burger truck waiting for us.
11:22Well, Calvin's telling him about this crazy points thing that's going on with the average points and why I needed to get third.
11:28And Hicks is still beating me somehow.
11:30Yeah.
11:31Yeah.
11:32Came in a point up and he's like two points down somehow based on averages.
11:38Some days your best moves just stay home.
11:40Yeah.
11:41Or travel transatlantic.
11:44Anyway, Luke Klout picking up the win in race three.
11:51And doing it in fine style as well.
11:53Jake Cannon is pretty young from what I understand.
11:55Yeah.
11:56Yeah.
11:57Yeah, he's a baby.
11:58That's great.
11:59Yeah.
12:00His sister's here this weekend actually.
12:01Her and her friend came over.
12:02Did two or three days in London before coming here.
12:05But Jake Cannon obviously riding for Bud Racing in EMX 250 this year.
12:09Got a podium at Atelier Basin, I want to say.
12:12And what is his first year?
12:15Learning tracks and the class and everything else.
12:17So, anyway, Calvin from V8.
12:21Milwaukee whole shop.
12:23So, nice little bit of hand luggage there to take back in the boot of the car.
12:26Back in the van.
12:29But actually, sort of, he's been consistent, hasn't he, I think, over the course of the night.
12:36I wish that Roxxon would have wore Kenny gear at some point.
12:38Would have been great.
12:39Yeah, it would have been great.
12:40One of my bigger regrets in the sport.
12:42There was a clothing company called Wind back in the 90s.
12:45Yep, yep.
12:46And I remember Joel Smith, I had this conversation with him recently.
12:49I said, the best title sponsor against the clothing company, Drop, was the sponsor.
12:57Oh.
12:58And right above Wind.
12:59And so every time he was on screen, Drop Wind.
13:02Oh, nice.
13:03Oh, you guys probably had a good old time at that.
13:05Yeah.
13:06Who's a Berg days.
13:07Yeah.
13:08Sort of, yeah.
13:09Well, that's great.
13:10You ever wear Wolfsport?
13:12I didn't, actually.
13:13You didn't?
13:14No.
13:15You seem like a Wolfsport guy.
13:16No, I was not a Wolfsport guy.
13:18It wasn't that much.
13:19Yeah, I was not a Wolfsport guy.
13:20And I was a to-
13:21I was a to-
13:22And I was a to-
13:23And I was a to-
13:24And you were a to-
13:25SX-1 coming up here.
13:26Absolutely.
13:27Final race of the day.
13:28We'll do the podiums, both podiums after the second-
13:30Or the final SX-1 race, of course.
13:31But track holding up okay, whoops were pretty good then.
13:34So, um...
13:35With those whoops being prepped and a 250 race just going on, just double the distance,
13:38it would have been a little bit more mileage through there for the 450 guys.
13:43And again, Mookie, good start, killing it through the whoops.
13:46Absolutely, right? Good start and good speed in the whoops and then this perfect combination of what you need to take the win.
13:50It's been so good to me and, you know, just to be racing here in Paris, I'm so excited and so thankful for the opportunity and, yeah, to repay the team with a win, I'm super stoked.
14:02Yeah, tomorrow's another day. We wake up tomorrow, we forget tonight, and we try and do the same thing and get the Prince of Paris.
14:12There you go.
14:13We've got DeWalt on his jersey. Milwaukee's a sponsor of the race.
14:17I've had plenty of mornings where I would like to have forgotten the night before. It usually doesn't work out that way.
14:23Yeah, or maybe you woke up and you'd automatically forgotten the night before.
14:28Yeah.
14:29You know, one, two.
