00:00The pole position was different, but Jett Lawrence winning, getting the first pick,
00:04then obviously going to the gate number two, Cooper Webb picked up a little,
00:08I wasn't sure if it was wheel spin, but he had a couple of goes,
00:11and then it just sort of stepped out as he got off the gate.
00:13Yeah, that double clutching will get you every time.
00:15He got a great jump because we're going to have that inside camera angle,
00:18but in the replay after race one, we watched Jett, and it was picture-perfect.
00:23Traction, grabs gear, no re-engaging of the clutch.
00:27You can't really do it much better than Jett's last start.
00:30So Hunter Lawrence there, center of your screen.
00:33He was fourth in race one ahead of Tom Vial, Cedric Subarace, and Mitchell Harrison.
00:38Gate number one here, though, in that red fly racing colorway, unique for this weekend.
00:47Nice spray job on the helmet as well in terms of, okay, something like that.
00:51You know you're going to come here to Paris with a nice new colorway, something unique to the event.
00:55In terms of liaising with the helmet sponsors and everything else,
00:58and coming up with a design that matches, how long do you need?
01:01A lot of cooperation.
01:02You're months out.
01:04I would say two to three months, to be fair.
01:07It can be done quicker, but without everyone in a panic and working 18-hour days, yeah, two to three months.
01:14Wow.
01:15Monster Energy 15 second ball then up for the second time today here in Paris at the Paris La Défense Arena.
01:20In the City of Lights, SX1 race two.
01:23Jett Lawrence, your winner in race one from Malcolm Stewart, Cooper Webb, Hunter Lawrence, and Tom Vial.
01:27The five-second ball turns now.
01:31Gates dropped now.
01:33Who gets the good advantage?
01:35Well, Jett Lawrence moves across on Mookie Stewart, and up inside, trying to muscle his way through,
01:40just like he did in race one.
01:41Cooper Webb on the number one on the Yamaha.
01:43But it is Jett Lawrence who leads in race two.
01:48Stewart just behind him.
01:50Hopefully, he's got whatever issues he had that he thought were problematic after Super Bowl fixed this time around.
01:55Yeah, I would think so.
01:56And really, it's the uncertainty for Malcolm in race one that I think was a concern.
02:01I'm really curious to see how this race shapes up.
02:03We haven't seen these two go head-to-head so much yet,
02:06and I felt like Malcolm had a little bit more pace in race one,
02:10but now he's going to have his opportunity to show us.
02:12Hunter Lawrence down there behind us.
02:14Goffier is he battles in and around sort of the lower end of the pack there,
02:21but it's Jett Lawrence who leads the way from Malcolm Stewart.
02:24Will he put the quad here down this back straight?
02:27If he gets this perfect, decides not to.
02:31And if he does, and if Malcolm Stewart is close enough to see that,
02:34will he pop it next time around and think,
02:36yeah, man, that looks so easy.
02:37I'll just pop it as well.
02:37Always a risk to do something in the race for the first time,
02:42but Jett Lawrence did exactly that in that first race.
02:44But look at Malcolm Stewart.
02:45You said he was probably the fastest rider in race one, JT.
02:48He's looking to prove that here a little bit up and down
02:52and offline there in the whoops,
02:54but the commitment from Malcolm Stewart, absolutely next level.
02:58And Malcolm's bike honestly just looks like it's working a little bit better
03:02with the racetrack.
03:03You see Malcolm do a different rhythm quad there,
03:04but he's able to find more traction.
03:07You see kind of Jett stepping out,
03:09and he's trying to be aggressive,
03:10and the bike's just not really as, there it is, there's the quad.
03:15Malcolm has just looked like he's been glued to the racetrack more all weekend.
03:18You don't, it can be a lot of things.
03:20It can be settings, it can be the frame geometry,
03:22it can be the frame metallurgy.
03:24There can be a lot of things.
03:25It just has been kind of the theme of the weekend.
03:28Whereas Super Ass, he's in fifth place at the moment.
03:30But Jett Lawrence, now just over a second clear.
03:35He's got the measure of Mookie over the whoops at the moment, speed-wise.
03:39But it's definitely a different Jett Lawrence we're seeing racing today.
03:43Yeah, and Malcolm's really shifted permanently to this 2-3-4-1 line.
03:49I don't know if it's quicker.
03:50You know, they have so many tools now, video,
03:52and I don't know if they have their Darkfish technology set up necessarily for this weekend,
03:55but they would be able to gain that out and know exactly down to the 10th what's the quickest option.
04:01So, Mookie would have seen that firsthand.
04:03You may have seen it on video.
04:05He's definitely seen it for real this time around.
04:07Be interesting to see how he reacts to that
04:09because he can be slightly quicker through the whoops more often than not.
04:12But when you have that gain and then you've got that quad,
04:15what is the difference? 3-4 tenths?
04:17Yeah, and you just wonder, like, Malcolm's probably thinking, like,
04:20I don't really mean to do that.
04:21You know, Jett's not in contention to win this thing.
04:23And Malcolm's honestly kind of been fast enough.
04:25Oh, there he goes.
04:26Right behind him.
04:27Perfect.
04:29And really, like, we were kind of talking about that.
04:31When I watched Jett do it in the first race,
04:34it didn't look like a jump that was difficult.
04:36As long as you caught the downside,
04:38you just give it everything you've got, as Jett said,
04:40and you're there, especially if Malcolm has his full race bike here,
04:43which I don't know if he does.
04:45Yeah.
04:45The landing there, you see, they're even clipping it a little bit.
04:47It's kind of forgiving.
04:48So on a technical level, difficulty-wise, big, yes,
04:54but not that challenging as far as technical.
04:57It's more of the fear of coming up short is really the technical level.
05:00Yeah.
05:02So four and a half minutes plus a lap to go.
05:05This second eight-minute-plus lap race here in Paris,
05:08the 13-minute-plus-a-lap race,
05:10the final race a little later on this afternoon to wrap things up.
05:13And it's Malcolm Stewart who's in the driving seat at a moment,
05:17who three wins yesterday,
05:19one course for two seconds today.
05:22It's so very consistent
05:24and looking to become the first brother combination
05:27to win the King of Paris
05:30because James Stewart was victorious in 2008.
05:33Oh, the original Bercy Stadium.
05:35Not too far from Notre Dame, actually,
05:39just down the river.
05:42But 350 to go,
05:44plus a lap.
05:45Jet Lawrence doing what he does,
05:46just managing the situation perfectly.
05:48But yesterday, a different story, obviously.
05:50Crashing in Super Bowl,
05:51crashing in Turn 2 at the start of the race
05:53when Tom Vial got a little bit wayward on him
05:55in Turn 2, took him out.
05:57And then, of course,
05:58he had that moment where he looked like he folded the front
06:00in the final race.
06:01That's just after setting the fastest lap of the race,
06:03and that cost him as well.
06:05So this weekend and day two, sorry,
06:09just a completely different Jet Lawrence.
06:12I'm kind of trying to figure out
06:13he doesn't get the quad that lap.
06:14I'm trying to figure out what happened to Hunter.
06:15He's back in sixth,
06:17pretty far back from the Vial and Subaira's group.
06:20So I'm not sure if he had an issue on the first lap
06:22or still feeling the effects of yesterday's crash.
06:25Cooper Webb there in third.
06:26Tom Vial a few bike lengths behind
06:28in that fourth position.
06:30Then Cedric Subiraz a bit further back.
06:32Then, yeah, Lawrence.
06:33Just Hunter Lawrence,
06:34just maybe a little bit now
06:36just starting to feel the effects
06:38of that crash in the whoop chest today.
06:40Yeah, and his times are pretty quick.
06:42He's nowhere near the leaders.
06:44But, I mean, he's doing 45,
06:45which is quicker than all the riders in front of him.
06:48So I don't know.
06:49Maybe just something we saw,
06:50something happened off camera
06:51that we didn't quite see.
06:52Yeah.
06:53But also, again, you know,
06:55now you think any chance of a real kind of podium
06:58is kind of out the window and stuff.
07:00That's just, we've got Australia.
07:01We go home tomorrow evening on a plane,
07:03get back Wednesday morning.
07:05A day to recover,
07:06and then you're probably straight to media
07:07and then the Australian Supercross there in Melbourne.
07:12So just get through this one
07:13and show up healthy next week.
07:14Maybe that's the mindset there.
07:15But, Jett Lawrence,
07:16when you pull a hole shot,
07:17you're expected to win.
07:18But Malcolm Stewart making it very difficult for him
07:20this time around.
07:21Yeah, and I think Jett, you know,
07:22he's getting out front.
07:23For Hunter, what you can't do
07:25is make a difficult situation for us,
07:27which you were alluding to.
07:29So if things aren't going very well,
07:31you don't want to press the issue here.
07:32But Jett looks like his normal self here.
07:35Is he A1 level ready?
07:37Probably not.
07:38But you see him,
07:39he's not making all the mistakes
07:40that he seemed to be making yesterday.
07:42Looks a little bit more comfortable.
07:44Jett Lawrence tying up a podium.
07:45Look, he's only three points behind Subaru S
07:47as it stands right now
07:48for that third overall.
07:51Not what he came here for.
07:52That was just a moment ago
07:53coming out of that turn
07:54after the whoops.
07:54Down the start straight.
07:55Cost him a little bit of time.
07:56Malcolm Stewart,
07:57minute and a half to go.
07:59Plus a lap.
08:01Lap times last time around.
08:03Jett Lawrence,
08:0444-4.
08:0645-1 for Mookie.
08:10Malcolm Stewart not going to give up
08:11the fight here, though, is he?
08:12You sense?
08:13No, and I don't think
08:14Malcolm's taking any outsides
08:17of risk.
08:17I think this is just the pace
08:18he's been running all weekend.
08:19And Jett has kind of
08:20finally found it,
08:21if that makes sense.
08:22Because if you look at the gaps,
08:24everything else is consistent.
08:25They're putting
08:25what will be 10 seconds
08:27into Webb.
08:28That's been pretty much the norm.
08:30I think Jett has just
08:31kind of gotten back
08:32to his normal self,
08:32and now he's on the level
08:34with Malcolm.
08:34Yeah.
08:36You probably didn't think
08:37you'd say that.
08:39I mean...
08:40Jett on the level of Malcolm.
08:41Well,
08:42I was talking about this
08:43earlier today.
08:44I really don't like
08:46drawing conclusions
08:47from off-season races.
08:48Larry Ward would be
08:49a multi-time Supercross champion
08:50if that were the case.
08:51Like, that is...
08:52These races are unique.
08:54The dynamics are different.
08:55They come in a strange
08:56part of the season.
08:57The dirt's different.
08:58The tracks are different.
08:59But none of that
09:00should discount
09:01how great Malcolm has been
09:02as he closes up
09:03to the rear of Jett.
09:04So it can be
09:05its own thing
09:06without saying,
09:07well, this is what we saw
09:08and we're going to see
09:09this in 2026
09:10it's because of it.
09:11Yeah.
09:12Race one.
09:13Final lap.
09:14Jett Lawrence got held up
09:15behind a couple of back markers
09:16that allowed Mookie
09:17to close in on him.
09:18And we're in a similar
09:19situation here,
09:20aren't we?
09:20Back marker territory
09:21with Jett Lawrence
09:23as we go into
09:24the final couple of laps
09:26because obviously
09:26time's still on the clock
09:27as they hit the line
09:28last time around.
09:30They'll take the one lap
09:30the white flag next time.
09:34Back marker
09:34holds a nice tight line there.
09:36Stays out of
09:36Malcolm Stewart's way.
09:38Ooh, lucky there.
09:42That was planned, wasn't it?
09:43Yeah, and he's been
09:43cutting back
09:44and using that inside
09:45two, three, four.
09:48So over the Milwaukee
09:49wall jump
09:51through turn one.
09:53More traffic ahead
09:54of Jett Lawrence
09:55and he quads
09:56anyway.
09:57Big move that for Lawrence
09:58with a back marker
09:59ahead of him
09:59and a Valentin.
10:03And then he puts
10:04that back marker
10:05between him and Stewart
10:06as we go into
10:07the final lap.
10:07Look, white flag
10:08on the outside.
10:10Right-hand side
10:10as a take-off
10:11on the finish line jump.
10:13Yeah, I don't think
10:14you'll see Malcolm
10:15do anything too crazy here.
10:171.2 seconds, the gap.
10:21And Jett Lawrence
10:22efficient in race one,
10:24equally so in race two.
10:27Really nice line
10:28by Jett there
10:29wheeling into the sand
10:30there and saving him
10:30some time.
10:31would you say
10:33in terms of
10:35given the situation
10:35not on his race bike
10:36and given what
10:37happened yesterday
10:38Lawrence doing
10:38just enough to
10:39stay ahead of Malcolm
10:40or do you think
10:41it's a pretty close run
10:42thing with the way
10:43that Malcolm is riding
10:44keeping him honest?
10:45Oh, I think he's pushing.
10:46Yeah.
10:46Jett's pushing here.
10:47Look at the gaps
10:48they're putting
10:48into everybody else.
10:49They're 14 seconds
10:50up on web now.
10:51And all these races
10:52even someone like
10:53Malcolm Stewart
10:53as the flag goes out
10:55Jett Lawrence wins it.
10:57Race two in the books.
10:58Jett Lawrence going
10:591-1 so far.
11:02Massive confidence
11:02boosts in terms of races
11:04and where Malcolm Stewart's
11:05at.
11:05You know, going into
11:06the continuation
11:08of off-season prep
11:09ahead of Anaheim 1
11:10in January.
11:12Webb, 16 seconds down
11:14in third place.
11:18But, yeah,
11:19what a turnaround
11:21for Jett Lawrence.
11:22But Malcolm Stewart
11:23still as consistent
11:24as he was yesterday.
11:25Just had that stumbling
11:26block of Jett Lawrence
11:27ahead of him.
11:28But Lawrence hasn't
11:28walked away from it
11:29and walked away from him.
11:32He's kept him honest.
11:32He's kept him on his toes.
11:34And that will be
11:35an interesting sort
11:36of final race,
11:36especially when it's
11:3713 minutes plus a lap
11:38later on.
11:38And they were doing 44.
11:40They were almost
11:41on their best laps
11:42at the end of the race
11:43where everybody else
11:44were anywhere from
11:45a second to two seconds
11:46off of their best lap
11:47towards the end of the race.
11:48So effort level
11:50was high.
11:51If Jett was able to,
11:54he would have,
11:54I think he would have
11:55been cruising around
11:55doing 45s and 46s
11:57there if given the choice.
12:00Give you the result
12:01then from that
12:02second race.
12:03Jett Lawrence
12:03from Malcolm Stewart,
12:04Cooper Webb,
12:04Tom Vial,
12:05Hunter Lawrence
12:05and Cedric Subra,
12:06and we had Harrison
12:07and Escoffio Walton
12:08and Ableton
12:09running out your top ten.
12:10but Malcolm Stewart
12:17in control
12:18of this
12:19King of Paris
12:20title.
12:22Take a look
12:23at the Milwaukee
12:23hole shot then.
12:26Jett Lawrence.
