00:00Time interview. Yeah, I wasn't down there, but I tend to ask him about it because it looks like everything's fine or they fixed it or whatever, but yeah, that was a little scary moment where he said, hey, something's up with the bike, am I hearing noise? I'm pulling off. Yeah. Well, this is how. I want to do this. I can't do that. Tony Cairoli, I remember the first guy seeing that when he was about 12 years old in MX2 at some point, just like reach that little leg around and kick the thing. I would have to go to the chiropractor if I did that. I know. I know.
00:30Go, go, gadget legs. Go, go, gadget legs. Malcolm Stewart sits on seven points. Seven clear of Cooper Webb with Cedric Suburas another 11 points further back. He's on 25 and then you've got Hunter Lawrence on 26, Jet Lawrence on 27. So just like last year after that one bad race and then five wins, Jet Lawrence could be finishing on the podium third step if all things go to plan. Of course, he's not too fussed about that. He wanted to come here for the big fat W and another
01:00crown. I think if you're Jet Lawrence and you sweep today on a stock engine after yesterday, you'll take it all. You'll be fine. You'll be happy. You know, third overall, whatever. But I think if you're Jet and HRC, you're like, OK, we're back on track.
01:15So this race is going to be 13 plus one. I blame Lars for not being here. That's the missing ingredient was Lars not being here. Not doing interviews.
01:25Yeah, so about 15 minutes. I'm reckoning we're going to be off air around about 6 o'clock, which is perfect for the Uber, just outside.
01:32Fingers crossed.
01:32I love this dynamic because it's always me that is that is running off as soon as the checkers fly. And this time it's Paul. I have nowhere to go. So I'll just close the show out, Paul.
01:43Yeah, you do that. And Starbucks. I'll handle that. I'll handle the national anthem and all the champagne.
01:48I got Starbucks. There are I'm first on the list for the upgrade to business. And there's one seat left, Paul. So I'm sort of on the edge like you here also.
01:56You know, for my travel. If I was a billionaire, I would buy that ticket and go wide empty just so you could just say you're going to have that.
02:04Anyway, we're getting ready to monster energy 15 second border for the final time this weekend, folks, then that five second water's turn.
02:11Let's go race in 13 minutes. Plus the lap about a 14 minute mate.
02:18Hunter Lawrence around the outside, but up the inside Tom Vial, it's Vial just teeing up Lawrence's left and right.
02:25Well, he likes that. Been a fan of that this weekend, but it's Tom Vial who leads away.
02:33Second is 137, maybe Escoffier.
02:38Escoffier.
02:39And then Webb up the inside into third as he nips by Suburas into fourth.
02:44Where is Malcolm Stewart? In seventh place at the moment.
02:47So Vial, Escoffier, French one, two, Webb third, Suburas fourth.
02:50Tell you what, the French are all over the front end of the pack here in this opening lap of race three.
02:56Good for the local fans. I can see, cheer on Tom. I'm sure the Lawrence's will not be cheering him on.
03:00No.
03:01But, yeah, absolutely good for the fans. They've seen Tom lead some laps.
03:04Escoffier, too. Very good surprise.
03:07If you're a group of Webb, you're like, hey, I can get both these guys to get going.
03:10So it's going to Webb's like, who is that guy for one?
03:12Who is this gentleman in front of me?
03:14Three-digit number. Some kind of amateur.
03:16Escargot?
03:17Yeah, yeah, yeah.
03:18Really confused.
03:19Get Escoffier off the track.
03:23Get the end of this first lap done then.
03:25Tom Vial leads for Honda HRC.
03:29Escoffier, second on Yamaha.
03:31Cooper Webb there, third for Monster Energy Star Racing in Yamaha.
03:34Fourth, we've got Suburas.
03:35Hunter and Jet, fifth and sixth.
03:37Malcolm Stewart in seventh position.
03:39And the three AMA Monster Energy Supercross riders line astern as they hit the whoops.
03:45No real big gains or losses for either of those three riders in that whoop section.
03:51But this race is still with 11 and a half minutes plus a lap to run.
03:55There's how it will finish at the moment.
03:56Stu Webb, Suburas, Vial fourth and Hunter Lawrence would be fifth overall.
04:02And what do we say at the start of the race?
04:03Jet Lawrence could find his way onto that third step of the podium if things go well.
04:07But things not going great at the moment.
04:08That four start.
04:09Malcolm just got Jet two in that race.
04:11No, he didn't get him.
04:12He's still behind him.
04:16He tried to get up the inside of him.
04:18Oh, yeah, actually, that was one Hunter.
04:19I apologize.
04:19I apologize.
04:20He got Jet at the end of this river.
04:21Jet backed out of that four and Malcolm did it.
04:24Yeah, he tried to park Hunter.
04:26I thought that was Jet.
04:26Jet trying to get up the inside of Malcolm Stewart to regain that position.
04:29Everybody's flown by Escoffier.
04:32So Webb now up to second.
04:33Suburas up to third.
04:33Escoffier getting beaten up left, right, and center.
04:35Because Hunter's gone through.
04:37Mookie's gone through.
04:39Jet Lawrence about to go through as well down that rhythm.
04:42That'll all be changed as we hit the end of lap three this time around.
04:46And Vial has now been passed by Cooper Webb.
04:52So Webb leads.
04:53Vial second.
04:55Suburas third.
04:57Hunter Lawrence fourth.
04:59Malcolm Stewart in fifth.
05:03And then Jet Lawrence.
05:04Here's how he did it.
05:05End of the whoops.
05:06Tuck back down the inside.
05:07Vial tried to get across.
05:09Cooper Webb said, I don't think so.
05:11Here's the elbow.
05:14And Malcolm Stewart finds his way past Hunter Lawrence.
05:17Goes after Cedric Suburas.
05:21No pressure.
05:22And it's very easy to think when you're in Malcolm Stewart's position that you can win something like this.
05:28Could be one of the biggest wins of his career.
05:30Yes, he won an AMA Supercross round earlier this year.
05:32But to win something like this over two days, the consistency of riding and the level of consistency you need to execute, to be in this position.
05:40He's just gone out and done everything, executed the plan perfectly.
05:44He's now up into, what, third place.
05:46And he's got one hand on that trophy.
05:49Yeah.
05:49I mean, he has already done, really, the hard work.
05:54Great, great, great job in the rhythm.
05:56Staying tight.
05:56He got super.
05:57Suburas was doing the same rhythm.
05:58Two, three, four, one.
05:59But Malcolm stayed tighter than him and got by Suburas.
06:03And now, you know, exactly what the Lawrence brothers trying to get around Cedric, while Malcolm is putting time on both of them.
06:09Yeah, Hunter tried to rough him up there at the end of that whoop section into that left-hander.
06:14Jet Lawrence now trying to find his way past his brother on the number 96.
06:18And they're both not doing the ideal rhythm, right?
06:20So they're getting held up.
06:21And this is a great job for Malcolm Stewart right here.
06:23Right.
06:24Is there?
06:24No, it's not going to be a quad here.
06:25I don't think there's too much traffic around.
06:27Although he did go by a backmarker in the previous race as he unlocks the quad.
06:32We'll have a look over there for Hunter.
06:36So, good race this for Cedric Suburas.
06:40But what about Cooper Webb if he can finish the weekend out with a race win?
06:46But he's still got eight and a half minutes to go.
06:48Look at this.
06:49Watch Jet up the inside.
06:49Of the inside.
06:50Jet's going to do a twofer.
06:52He'll say, thank you.
06:53Bro, opening up the opportunity for me.
06:55He goes and moves from, where, six to four in the blink of a night.
07:00Straight out of Talladega Nights there.
07:02Does that prove the brother's coordinating now?
07:04Set that up perfectly.
07:06Onto Lawrence coming straight back.
07:07That's his brother.
07:09Oh, I'll tell you what.
07:09A little bit of rubber on rubber there in that turn.
07:13Triple single.
07:14Hasn't been able to jump the quad so far in this race yet.
07:17But Cooper Webb, what is the gap between him and Tom Vial?
07:222.2.
07:22Stu is behind a little bit.
07:26What, about another second?
07:27Yeah, Malkin is coming.
07:28Closing down the whoops as well into that left-hand turn as we keep an eye on this battle here.
07:33As Jet Lawrence tries to put some distance between himself and brother Hunter.
07:36Here's Mookie Stewart up the inside.
07:38Finds his way past.
07:40Tom Vial moves into second position.
07:43Yeah, he's going to be on Webb here.
07:45Two laps.
07:46Yeah, hasn't finished out of the top two all weekend long.
07:49Malcolm Stewart, that's what you call consistency.
07:51Three wins yesterday.
07:53He's eyeing up three second place finishes here.
07:55But, seven minutes plus a lap to go.
07:57Only 2.2 in it between him and Cooper Webb.
08:00Is he going to be rounding out with a race win to seal the deal?
08:02Two laps, he'll be on him.
08:04Yeah, we got impressive riding from Malcolm again.
08:07For a guy whose bike apparently has an issue,
08:09and for a guy who hasn't ridden much, he is on fire right now.
08:12So, it's going to be interesting to see if Jet can close it down.
08:14The last lap time around, Malcolm set his fastest time.
08:17Jet set his fastest time.
08:19So, we got two guys peaking right now.
08:21And, uh, Coop's not far off.
08:22I mean, he was, uh, 46.9.
08:24Well, actually, I take that back.
08:26He was pretty far off that last lap.
08:27So, Coop's got some work to do.
08:29Yeah, 45.3, 46.9.
08:311.8 the gap down between first and second.
08:33At the start of this lap eight,
08:37Cooper Webb knows he's going to have his hands full any moment,
08:39and that's one of the reasons why the triple single versus the quad
08:43into that second turn.
08:45And you can see how much of a difference that makes.
08:48And he's also got that good rhythm right in front of us as well
08:50where he pops a quad in the middle
08:51and then rounds out with a single back in the opposite direction there.
08:56Whoop speed.
08:59How much of a gain is there going to be?
09:01Well, not a lot, but how come Stuart talk about a, uh, well.
09:07Yeah, I may want to take a breather.
09:10He's had a, he's got it quite the weekend.
09:13So, Jet Lawrence up the inside, moves into third.
09:18And, uh, Cedric Subras, where's he?
09:19He's in sixth place.
09:21So, uh, the third place on the podium is still up for grabs here.
09:24Here's a pass.
09:24And, uh, Quad to take the lead.
09:27What a fantastic ride that was.
09:29And line, we knew that it was coming and he had enough room.
09:32But, uh, Malcolm Stewart from out of nowhere
09:34pulls about three or four bite lengths in one move on Cooper Webb
09:37to take over the lead on lap nine.
09:40Fans love that.
09:41On their feet.
09:44We'll get a replay of that as well.
09:46Any moment now, I'm sure.
09:48And Jet's figured out that rhythm line now
09:50and doing the, from the inside, two, three, four, one.
09:53He's figured that out.
09:53He's too far back, I think, to really make it to get right now.
09:56But, yeah, he's about six seconds back.
09:58Not impossible.
09:59Not impossible to get to Webb,
10:00but he would have to turn some really hot laps.
10:04So, I think for...
10:04Three wins, two seconds, and a potential win here for Mookie.
10:07I think for Webb, the key here to stay with Malcolm.
10:10If he has any chance of staying in front of Jet,
10:12he's going to have to stay with Malcolm
10:13because between the quad and the loops,
10:15a lot of areas for Jet to make up time.
10:17So, Malcolm Stewart, what a performance it has been all weekend.
10:21This is about a 27 on the surprise scale, man.
10:25This is an incredible, good job from Malcolm Stewart,
10:27rockstar has to honor.
10:29He looks on another level right now.
10:31How long's the flight back to Florida from Paris?
10:34Six, seven hours?
10:34Yeah, eight.
10:35Eight hours?
10:36I'll tell you what, that makes eight hours a lot sweeter, doesn't it?
10:38Yeah.
10:38When we have a performance like this.
10:39I mean, hey, Jet was right behind Malcolm.
10:41So, this is the other guy that won the first time in events,
10:43was right there and could have made this happen.
10:45Like, held up a little bit by Subaru,
10:46but full march to Malcolm Stewart
10:48for pulling away from the 18.
10:50I mean, that's what, off-season races,
10:51stuff like this happens.
10:52Like, think about how many times
10:53Larry Ward would come out and dominate in the off-season.
10:56Justin Brayton come out and dominate in the off-season.
10:58Like, just see things you don't always expect.
11:01That's what happens with these races.
11:04Yeah, and you've got Cooper Webb, of course,
11:06you know, riding around constant upgrades
11:08and changes to the motorcycle,
11:10trying to get himself comfortable.
11:11That's what Peanut was saying yesterday as well,
11:13you know, just making a lot of little changes here and there
11:16just to try and get the thing set up a little bit more finely tuned.
11:19Yeah, I was talking to Cooper a little bit about its setup
11:20and I said, well, what are you going to do?
11:22And he said, well, what we need to do, we can't do.
11:24So, you know, spring rate or something.
11:26Yeah, just because of lack of parts here.
11:28Yeah, yeah, exactly.
11:29So, you know, they've been doing clickers and things like that,
11:31but it sounded like what he wanted to do
11:33was a bigger change.
11:35And obviously, here in Paris, can't quite do that.
11:37Yeah.
11:37So, three and a half minutes plus a lap to go.
11:42Jet Lawrence here, he's up into third.
11:44How that changes the overall dynamic of the overall classification
11:49because if Jet was to go out and win
11:51and have other things fall in his favor,
11:53then he was going to be third overall.
11:54But Tom Vial was ahead of him at one point.
11:57So too was Suburas.
11:58He's now found his way past both of those guys,
12:00but it's interesting to see how that leaves him.
12:03It may still leave him off the podium.
12:04Two back of Suburas going into this one,
12:08I believe I saw it on the scoring.
12:10So he should be okay to get third overall.
12:12Jet Sims should be.
12:14Jet's on it right now.
12:16Malcolm's kind of, I'm sure he's cruising a bit,
12:18but Jet has turned in some really quality laps the last couple.
12:23Yeah, it was...
12:24Mookie was on seven, wasn't he?
12:28Cedric was 25.
12:29Lawrence was 26.
12:30Hunter and 27 for Jet.
12:32He's tied with his brother.
12:37And he finishes ahead of him, so he should get it.
12:40And he's had two race wins as well,
12:42so if one doesn't get it,
12:43then the other kind of scenario does.
12:46So still eyeing up potential third overall then.
12:50Jet's getting closer to Cooper Webb right now.
12:52We got...
12:53Jet's at the fastest lap last time around.
12:54Last time that happened,
12:57he washed the front going into the whoops yesterday.
12:58Didn't end well,
12:59but no problems this time around with two minutes plus two to go.
13:02Here's Cedric Suburas.
13:04The Sub, he crossed the line in sixth place.
13:0623 seconds down on the leader.
13:08Which is still Malcolm Stewart,
13:12who is just having one of those definitive rides.
13:17Hasn't even looked back, has he?
13:18Hasn't needed to.
13:19He's just been on rails,
13:21found his way to the front once more.
13:23And from there,
13:24he's just made it look so very easy,
13:27as these guys do anyway,
13:28but he's just made it look easier
13:29than it probably is.
13:33Watch Jet.
13:34I have Malcolm on screen,
13:35but where Jet's really kind of making up time
13:38is driving into those loops.
13:39Like he...
13:40Zero hesitation from corner to entry.
13:43The closing in speed there
13:44into that turn on Cooper Webb
13:46was immense.
13:47And Jet Lawrence was unfortunate
13:50not to find his way past,
13:51but then coming out of the turn.
13:52Didn't get the quad that time,
13:54but he'd been going 4-1 there.
13:56And Webb was able to pull
13:57the gap back out
13:58coming out of that turn
13:59after the loop back down
14:00the start straight.
14:01But one thing we're going to get here
14:03is probably a quad into the turn,
14:05just here.
14:05See how much time that makes up.
14:07Another couple of bite lengths.
14:08And Webb needs to switch that.
14:10Stop going outside
14:11right before that section as well.
14:12That's hurting him a little bit.
14:14But yeah, it shouldn't be long here.
14:15We've got, what, three laps to go?
14:17And Jet Lawrence is going to try to get...
14:19Yeah, I would guess
14:20he's going to try to go past him
14:21in the whoops, but...
14:23Yeah, we've got back markers.
14:24That's going to be on the
14:26peripheral vision of Cooper Webb.
14:28And there it is up the inside.
14:29Here we go.
14:30Oh, he just has to
14:32pull out of the challenge there.
14:33Webb to the inside.
14:35Goes defensive.
14:37Jet quad here.
14:39Oh.
14:41Can't quite find a way through.
14:42A little untidy
14:43through the left-hander.
14:45Cooper Webb on borrowed time,
14:46potentially.
14:46With a lot of this
14:492026 Supercross, I think.
14:56Back markers trying to
14:57stay out of the way there.
14:59Might block Jet here.
15:01Yeah.
15:02Yeah, he tries to...
15:03We thought going outside,
15:04yeah, it just messed him up completely.
15:07Get out of the way.
15:09Yeah.
15:09Unbelievable.
15:09Hasn't been aware of anything
15:14that's going on, has he?
15:15Now he is.
15:16But when you've got the first
15:17two riders go by,
15:18Malcolm Stewart and Cooper Webb,
15:19you've got to suspect that
15:20somebody else is there
15:22closing in,
15:23especially when you hear
15:23that bike behind you.
15:25Lawrence now has a lot of work
15:26to do.
15:26Two laps to go.
15:28Yeah, that's pretty...
15:30Pretty much done.
15:31Pretty poor situational
15:32awareness there.
15:32But Malcolm Stewart,
15:36five seconds clear,
15:37coming back in the opposite
15:38direction over the FMX jump.
15:41The white flag will go out
15:43this time around
15:44to Malcolm Stewart,
15:45who is a lap away,
15:47about 45, 46 seconds away
15:49from taking
15:50the King of Paris title
15:53after many, many years
15:54of trying.
15:55James Stewart was victorious
15:57in 2008.
15:58We're on the verge
15:59of a first ever brother combo
16:00winning the King of Paris title.
16:03James Stewart doing his
16:04at the Paris Bercy Stadium,
16:06the Palais Omnisport,
16:08back in 2008
16:09on the Yamaha.
16:10Mookie, Malcolm Stewart
16:11on a Rockstar Energy
16:12Husqvarna.
16:14It's just three or four
16:15corners away.
16:17The fans on their feet,
16:19the crowd favorite,
16:20Malcolm Stewart,
16:21now starts to showboat
16:22as he hits that final rhythm.
16:24This is Jet Lawrence
16:25and Cooper Webb.
16:26Oh, they're going to be
16:27afters here.
16:27Not quite.
16:28Two corners to go
16:30for Jet Lawrence.
16:30Can he find his way through?
16:31We'll focus on
16:32Malcolm Stewart
16:33as he wins
16:34the Paris Supercross.
16:37Cooper Webb
16:37hangs on for second,
16:39Jet Lawrence third
16:40and that may be
16:41the top three overall
16:42in the classification
16:43as well.
16:44We'll wait for confirmation
16:45of course,
16:46but Malcolm Stewart
16:47four wins,
16:49two seconds.
16:50What a weekend
16:51it has been
16:51for the number 27
16:52Rockstar Energy
16:53Husqvarna Ryder.
16:56Jet Lawrence
16:57and Cooper Webb
16:58just sharing a moment
16:58there
16:59about something
17:00that happened
17:00that happened
17:00in that corner
17:01over there
17:01or whatever else.
17:02He was letting
17:03number 72
17:03have it there
17:04as he should.
17:06But Malcolm Stewart
17:08wins the race.
17:08Cooper Webb second,
17:10Jet Lawrence third.
17:11Those two,
17:12what,
