00:00All eyes on the gate now, Cooper Webb here needs a good jump, he gets one, has a couple of stabs on the clutch, so on the exit, the two Hondas of Jett and Hunter Lawrence, Webb tried to get in there, yeah, and it worked because he comes out in third position, and Cooper Webb holds a nice tight line, looks like it's all fired up early on in this first race, certainly through that first turn it looked anyway, but it's Hunter and Jett leading the way.
00:25Yeah, see if Jett can put in some clean laps, once Jett gets settled in, if he's at the front, he is incredibly difficult to deal with, and you wonder where Malcolm's at, mentally, this is a lot to deal with because, yes, he's wanting to get to the front right now, but every thought in his mind right now is, is the bike going to do something strange, yeah.
00:44They are your top ten as Hunter Lawrence put some distance in on Jett at the moment, Cooper Webb not letting the number 96, who had a hard hit in the whoops yesterday, so whilst he's okay, just a little bit physically beat up as well, he's got some lacerations on his arm as well, as a result of that crash.
01:11Cooper Webb won't care too much about that, though, just wants to find his way past the number 96 and see if he can feast his eyes on the number 18, who is streaking clear in that whoops section.
01:21Here comes Cooper Webb.
01:22Well, and Webb's about as savvy as a racer that's ever existed.
01:25And Malcolm moves up in the fourth, finds his way past Tom Vielle.
01:29Webb knows that Hunter is not feeling the best today, right, a little under the weather because of that crash, so he's going to want to try to attack Hunter,
01:36and I think he understands that if Hunter gets in a precarious position, he's likely to kind of back out of that.
01:42That's kind of what, how Webb has made his money over the years, is understanding race situations and attacking that.
01:48But also, you mentioned it yesterday, where when other riders that are, you know, ahead of him in championship situations or fighting for championship when they have a bad day,
01:56he feels they're the races he should capitalize on when he doesn't, like yesterday, for instance, when Mookie got the better of him, you know, they're the kind of things mentally he needs to work on, perhaps.
02:05Yeah, he gets frustrated because he knows oftentimes he can't match pace with Jett.
02:10And Jett, make no mistake, most people view Jett as the favorite for championships going in.
02:15So if you can't match pace, you have to be your best on their off days.
02:21And last night was a good testament to that.
02:23Yes, there's no points.
02:23It's not a championship event.
02:25But it is one of those moments where Coop's like, hey, if Hunter and Jett have a bad day, I need to be standing on the top of the podium and maximize that.
02:31So second, it wasn't terrible.
02:33It was very similar to how Tampa Supercross played out last year for Coop.
02:37So see if he's gotten a little more in the tank.
02:39And honestly, so far, if this was last night, Malcolm would already be in the lead.
02:44So things have changed just a tiny bit.
02:46Yeah, well, he'll move to seven if he stays where he is in fourth place.
02:50Cooper Webb is already on eight, but he'll go to 11 if he stays where he is.
02:55But look at this battle here for second.
02:57Hunter Lawrence, Cooper Webb.
02:59Webb in no move for hanging around.
03:00He's trying to force the envelope now, five minutes plus a lap to go.
03:04Intensity, intensity starting to pick up and build in this trio of riders, fighting for second position.
03:11Malcolm Stewart obviously getting rid of those doubts in the mind.
03:15But Jet Lawrence has quatted into this corner.
03:21He's un-popped the court on that.
03:24They said Norma's going to do it yesterday.
03:25So much of the gentleman's agreement.
03:26Yeah.
03:27He's just gone, here we go.
03:29Watch down the back straight.
03:31There's the quad.
03:32Ah, no worries, man.
03:34Easy as.
03:36And Webb up to second.
03:38Two for one.
03:39Oh, Lawrence tried again in on Malcolm, who's now in third.
03:46And he's coming back.
03:48At the Husqvarna rider and finds his way into second.
03:54Good couple of corners there.
03:55Good response from a fighting Cooper Webb.
04:02So the videos will be out.
04:06In between 10, Jet popped the quad.
04:09Down to these guys to respond or not.
04:11How much are they losing or gaining?
04:12Of course, Jet's got nothing to lose now because he was ninth in the overall classification coming in on 25 points.
04:17Malcolm Stewart, your leader with three points.
04:20Well, I think for Jet, honestly, for Sunday, the overall for the weekend.
04:24Has gone.
04:24Who cares?
04:25Yeah, that's done and dusted.
04:27But to leave here on Monday on the plane and go home and say, okay, horrible Saturday, but Sunday was business as usual.
04:33Yeah.
04:33Everything's fine.
04:34I think today that's really the goal.
04:36Yeah.
04:36See, Malcolm do that quad that he did a couple times yesterday, mid-rhythm.
04:40Yeah.
04:41That's a 2-4-3, isn't it?
04:43Or something like that.
04:44Yeah, 2-4-1.
04:452-4-1, yeah.
04:46Okay, here comes Stewart again, looking to find his way down the inside.
04:50Webb now back to third.
04:52Stewart up to second.
04:53Malcolm Stewart.
04:57Hand gesture.
04:58I think maybe a tear-off was stuck on his hand.
05:00Maybe.
05:00Yeah, I saw that.
05:01Yeah, going again.
05:02It's still stuck.
05:03It's stuck on his shoulder now.
05:06Yeah, nothing worse than that flapping tear-off.
05:09Whether it's on your, yeah, just actually, was that it just flying over the net there, over the jet net?
05:14That's how it would look at the moment.
05:19Malcolm on 5.
05:20Cooper Webb, 11.
05:23Super S on 19.
05:25Hunter Lawrence, 21.
05:26Villal on 24.
05:29Lawrence would be, uh, Jet Lawrence would be on 26.
05:31So still, two and a half minutes.
05:36This eight minutes has taken its time to, uh, wind down.
05:40The Jet Lawrence, 5.4 seconds clear of Malcolm Stewart.
05:45Yeah, it's, like, frustrated there, isn't he?
05:47Look, with the, with a tear-off.
05:48Like, where is it?
05:48I think he's trying to shake it off his hand, as well.
05:51It's not very much fun.
05:52And, honestly, it's just a distraction.
05:54Yeah.
05:54So locked into what you're doing, and it's making noise, as you said, that flapping sound.
05:58And it's the last thing you need to be dealing with.
06:01Okay.
06:02Out of this turn, out of the next one.
06:04Are we going to get an aerial view of the quad?
06:06Honestly, he's doing it so easily that I don't think it's...
06:08Well, they were doing it last year, and this is part of the track that's probably unchanged from last year.
06:11No.
06:12Nah, he goes back to single.
06:13But when he's been doing it, it wasn't something where it looked super risky.
06:18You know, it's one of those things where once you do it once and you understand,
06:21okay, I need this amount of pop, land here, the bike can make it, then it becomes almost turnkey a bit.
06:26And also, we talked about it yesterday, of course, no secret that they're not on their full race bikes.
06:31Cooper Webb on a full race bike.
06:32I think Mookie is as well, maybe.
06:34But the two Hondas, Jet and Hunter, they're on production bikes with suspension and maybe a couple of other things.
06:41So, the sort of, the will to still want to jump that even though you're not on your race bike in terms of electronics and things like that.
06:51You know, how different is that?
06:52How big is that mentally for someone like that?
06:55Well, I think it's just, it's confidence inspiring, you know, and you definitely have more power.
07:00There's no question about that.
07:01A factory engine versus a production engine, there's really no comparison.
07:04And also where it picks up, you've got that responsibility.
07:06Yeah, how quick it is.
07:06Yeah, yeah.
07:07And torque levels and all those things.
07:09So, when you run a production engine versus your factory engine, everything else changes accordingly.
07:15The ECU settings, all those things.
07:16So, I think he's just, he doesn't want to take risk in a situation where he doesn't have to.
07:21If that was Anaheim, I can promise you he would have been doing that early on Saturday.
07:26But nonetheless, he's still doing it anyway here on Sunday.
07:28Malcolm put the fastest lap in last time around 44.309.
07:31Still, the gap is still 4.3 seconds though.
07:36But Jet Lawrence over the Milwaukee line.
07:40Just a lot of question, there it is.
07:42And really, that's not difficult.
07:46And I, of course, it looks easier than it is.
07:48Yeah.
07:49But you can tell body language, he's not really pulling up and extending or doing anything that would tell you it's that difficult.
07:55Yeah.
07:56And it's obviously for these guys that when they look at a Supercross track and they see a bunch of things in front of them and they just go, yeah, there's a 343 like that.
08:09And me and Morkle's looking at it and go, sorry, not a one, one, one, one, one, you know.
08:16We're not rolling those.
08:17And it is, you know, these guys, there's Malcolm doing that other quad.
08:20Nobody else is doing that.
08:21Yeah.
08:21And you've looked at these tracks over and over and over and put these combinations together and practice these particular sections.
08:28You can also know the distance.
08:29Like they could say that's 33 meters.
08:32I can do this.
08:33No problem.
08:34It gives you.
08:34That's the fastest lap there from Nice Dude.
08:36Yeah.
08:36And I still believe that Malcolm's the fastest guy here.
08:39You know, he put himself in core positioning early on.
08:41But if he told me he won the next two, that wouldn't shock me.
08:45Into the final lap there, Jet Lawrence.
08:50Managing a three and a half second advantage over Malcolm Stewart.
08:56Both have got little lines.
08:58Stewart on this back section here.
08:59Jet on the opposite side of the stadium where he's plodding into that second turn.
09:03A couple of riders in front of Jet here.
09:07And a Valentin, one of those on the number 92.
09:09I see too many blue flags there.
09:11But I'll tell you what, if this was close battle, this would be...
09:14You would be in trouble.
09:15Oh, my goodness.
09:16Jet would be very, very unhappy.
09:18Malcolm's even there anyway.
09:19Yeah.
09:20Two corners to go.
09:23Back marker finally pulls wide there.
09:25Allows Jet Lawrence to go through.
09:27There's a blue flag.
09:27Checkered flag flies.
09:29Jet Lawrence takes his first win in four attempts here in race one, day two.
09:35Back to normal, Jet, JT, or just...
09:37A sounding belt to like the rivals there.
09:42I would say a better Jet than Saturday.
09:43Yeah.
09:44But credit to Malcolm.
09:46I still truly believe that Malcolm is the best rider here on Sunday as well.
09:49The results didn't indicate that so far.
09:51But, yeah, this isn't 100% domination Jet that I've seen in the past.
09:59Yeah.
10:00So Jet Lawrence in.
10:01Something to smile about.
10:02As we clear race one.
10:06As we clear race one.
