00:00Last few laps, Jet got to 8th and Hunter got to 4th.
00:04That might be enough to get there.
00:08It has to be perfect. Cooper Webb last year 13 points, Jet 3rd, 5 points behind him.
00:12And he had a 13th and won every race. So he got to,
00:16where was it, 8th we said? Yeah, 8th.
00:20He's got breathing room. I think about it too.
00:24Malcolm's not 100% back from his SMX injuries. I give you credit
00:28for giving us some insight there. Those 13-minute main events
00:32are going to be tough. Just one, just one 13-minute.
00:36The 15-second board goes up here, SX2. Race 1 was won by
00:40Anthony Bourdon on the 9.45, Luke Claout on the 4th was 2nd, Fonvielle on the 11
00:44was in 3rd place. This one is another 5-minute plus
00:481-lap race for the 250 riders. Gates about to drop now.
00:52Somebody tried to go over on the far side there. Another not great start for the 11 of Calvin Fonvielle.
00:56But trying to sneak up the inside through that first turn.
01:02Well, tell you what, Jake Cannon with number 3 didn't get the whole shot, I don't think.
01:08But who's that just ahead of him?
01:10Difficult to tell. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We've got Skycam going on here over the line.
01:16Pietra, a rider we don't normally see up front. Jake Cannon 2nd, Bourdon 3rd, Clout,
01:22Julian Leveaux, Hugo Mansato and then Khelena Humphrey on the start.
01:26But a good start this time around for Jules Pietra. Everybody safely around.
01:32Where are our, well, Saad Soleimani who was up there and running up at the sharp end in race 1 to come home in 4th.
01:38Bourdon your winner, Clout 2nd, Fonvielle 3rd. Bourdon is 3rd in this one at the moment, Clout 4th.
01:46But the 2nd now, Bourdon on the move. Yeah, Bourdon on the 9.45.
01:50Just like he was in race 1, but this time before the second lap.
01:56Oh, Clout, deep there. That is, you know what, Clout is gunning for Bourdon here.
02:02Clout there in 3rd, Bourdon in 2nd. They put on a fantastic show in race 1, the riders in 2nd and 3rd.
02:08And there you go, that move down the inside. Bourdon takes over the lead.
02:12Clout moves into 2nd. Jules Pietra taking the challenge to Clout and parks him.
02:18How much will that hurt him later on in the race?
02:21Yeah, that was impressive for sure, right?
02:23A guy that's not used to running up front, Clout's whoop skills are going to come through here, I think, shortly.
02:28But, yeah, good job from Pietra.
02:30Well, that hurt Clout there going inside. Already had no run on the 2.50 entering the whoops there.
02:34But he's probably so frustrated right now to still be behind because he can see Bourdon putting time on him.
02:39Yeah, Pietra, 5th in race 1, looks across. He was expecting the payback there and just checked up just enough to allow Clout to go through.
02:47Clout with clear track crucially.
02:49Yeah, I think the first one, Clout really, maybe if you wanted to push the issue, could have really slammed Bourdon there late in the race, but chose to lay up.
02:57There's a lot of racing to go. But, I mean, you can't let the guy get too many points ahead. These two have been the clear class of the field.
03:02And actually, Luke Clout looking dangerous at the moment. He's gaining on Bourdon despite losing a couple of bite lengths getting caught behind Joe Pietra.
03:10He's definitely got the bit between his teeth this time, guys. What do you reckon, JT?
03:13I think it's easier to be the kind of the predator than the prey, right? It's just basically the role reversal here. You see Clout make a mistake there.
03:21I like some of Clout's lines, but at the same time I talked about, you see he loses time. He's trying to race the racetrack like a 450, I think, in certain areas.
03:29He's trying to cut the corners short, short draw really tight corners. I don't know that that necessarily works on the 250 on this track.
03:34But also, what you said, it's better to be the chaser than the leader. And that's what Bourdon did in the first race. And he was able to see the lines that Clout had.
03:42Now, role reversal, as you say, Clout able to see what he wasn't able to see in the first race because he didn't have time. He had to want a lap to respond when he got passed for the lead.
03:51Yeah, about that, right? I like Clout. He's been racing all over the place. OzX stuff, obviously. He was in Germany at Stuttgart last weekend. Now he's here in Paris going to OzX next weekend.
04:00Sounds like JT. Yeah, he's a modern JT for sure. Got money, he'll race. Here he comes getting up close right now. New nickname, Jason.
04:08Side by side as they hit the Milwaukee hole shot line. Clout looking for that move down the inside.
04:14Same spot as he was done on two in the first one. So Clout now leads with, what, three and a half minutes, sorry, a minute and a half to go, plus a lap.
04:23It's role reversal. Yeah, I found it, JT, out of the sand, the 450s in the main, they were cutting it double in, which I was like, why?
04:32Did you see Mookie go four there? Four single? Right after that section? No, I missed that.
04:37Yeah, two, three, four, one. That's the only person I've seen do it.
04:40Yeah, they were really cutting that corner close and trying to get, you know, trying to try this.
04:44Through heat. Yeah, right there.
04:45And a lot of that I think is, for Clout is muscle memory. He's been racing a 450 for a long time.
04:50For him to immediately switch back all your, you know, and a lot of this is instinctual. They're in the heat of the moment.
04:55If he had time to really think out, okay, I need to go to the outside, to the Monte 250.
04:59He could just kind of see those 450 nuances in his technique.
05:02Yeah, a nice battle going on a little bit further down here.
05:04We've got Jake Cannon in fifth and Calvin Fonvier in sixth.
05:07But then this group here, Hugo Manzato, Julian Lebeau, Adrian Bonifacio, giving the fans what they want.
05:13Most of them French, apart from Bonifacio, the Italian on the Husqvarna.
05:18But just taking a look out of the window here, and Clout, he's got 1.6 seconds with 30 seconds plus a lap as he enters the sand section just below our commentary position.
05:29The 27 here of Manzato, under pressure from Bonifacio, who moves up into seventh.
05:36But can he get that momentum through the whoops? No, he can't.
05:39And Manzato, well, tell you what, he was trying to take the other dude wide, and the 22 of Mikhail Lamar almost caught them both napping.
05:48Good job for Kalana Humphrey here on the start, running fourth.
05:52Really good job by him.
05:53He's a rider that has a lot of fun out there.
05:55Travels around, tries to make some money whenever he can, racing whenever he can.
05:58Yeah, six in the race one.
05:59Yeah, very good job for that.
06:01JT, it's a great point about the Predator and the Prey, because we saw the first one what happened, right?
06:05I almost wonder if the next race here, Bourdain's going to be like, well, I liked it better when I was Predator.
06:10And Clout's going to be like, I liked it better when I was Predator.
06:13And we'll see what happens, right?
06:14Because they are really evenly matched.
06:16There's only one Predator, and he's in the SX-1 category.
06:20Right, it's 27.
06:21Well, you see Bourdain's closed the gap back down.
06:23I just wonder if he may be able to set up a similar type pass right at the very end.
06:28He's tried to close back up to the rear end of Clout here.
06:30Yeah, Paul MbA has just moved past Cannon there just a moment ago to move into fourth.
06:34And, yeah, Kalena Humphrey, the Brit on the start machine in red.
06:39Lead rider in shock.
06:42Not a rider that, you know, most riders wouldn't be too familiar with.
06:46Great to have a Brit behind the gate as well, though, riding that start.
06:49I didn't know he was a Brit until right now, Paul.
06:52As this battle's going on, we have a winner who was Luke Quelt.
06:56But watch this battle across the finish line here for fifth and sixth.
07:01Well, I tell you what, Fonvier up the inside, takes another position.
07:04Clout wins, Bourdain on second.
07:06Pietro third, Fonvier to fourth in the final corner.
07:08Kalena Humphrey fifth and Jake Cannon sixth.
07:12And, yeah, Clout taking the checkers there to take the second race win.
07:18So it's all squared, one point each for the wins, two for seconds for Clout.
07:24So they've obviously gone one, two, two, one.
07:26So three points on the board for those two.
07:28We'll start working out some overalls for the tonight fixture
07:31ahead of race three a little bit later on.
07:33But Jules Pietro, great start, hung on for third.
07:36Your championship leader in the 250 French championship class,
07:38Calvin Fonvier, coming home in fourth place.
07:41That was the moment Clout took the victory in race two.
07:45So whatever issues he may or may not have had in race one,
07:48definitely been rectified in race two with that race win.
07:52And Ozzy, winning again.
07:54Yeah.
07:55Never seen that before.
07:56Clout's a really good rider, indoors and out, right?
07:58He's a veteran now at this point.
07:59He's been around a little while.
08:01And like I said, racing in Germany, racing in Australia, racing here.
08:04Really good job for Luke Clout, for sure.
08:06Yeah, I was saying that Jason, JT, just before or during the first broadcast,
08:11the 250 race, talking to Clout yesterday.
08:14And you could tell he's been on a 450.
08:16He was just looking a little bit, waiting for the power.
08:18You know, he wanted the power over the whoops and things like that.
08:20And he said, yeah, it took a little bit of adjusting.
08:22Yeah.
08:23But we're getting there.
08:24Right, we're getting there.
08:25So the Milwaukee Hull shot then to Juul Pietro.
08:30It was an impressive ride from him.
08:32Yeah.
08:33I know less than nothing about him, just to be fully transparent.
08:35But that was pretty… I like the fact that he pushed back, like Steve said against Clout.
08:40Yeah.
08:41That shows confidence because typically riders in that spot are not going to challenge someone
08:45as established as Clout.
08:46Yeah, exactly.
08:47But this is what you get though with the French kids with their Supercross program.
08:51You know, they have a summer series, a winter series.
08:53So, you know, they're looking very much to the future in terms of where they're next.
08:59You know, Jean-Michel Bale, Christophe Porcel, Tom Vial, you know, whoever it's going to be.
09:05Well, French Supercross tour is where those kids are developed.
09:08Yeah.
