00:00Here we go, into the first corner, Corpe Corner.

00:10Through Corpe Corner and coming straight at you.

00:13It's 99 of Anstey right out front.

00:15The man who's leading the points was perfect in Argentina,

00:17and he's starting off great here tonight, Jeff.

00:19Yeah, Anstey is so fired up.

00:21That looks like Kyle Peters and Robbie Wageman second and third.

00:26Wageman right behind them there.

00:27Did not have a great night in Argentina, Daniel,

00:30but Wageman looking pretty good here early on.

00:32Yeah, great start.

00:33Get up with that lead pack where the environment is absolutely different.

00:37And, Jeff, how about the track?

00:39This is the best we've seen it since we arrived on Thursday.

00:42Well, this is the best that it's going to be all night long.

00:45Lap one of the SX2.

00:48Shane McElrath back in seventh.

00:51They got the Quadlock Honda running, got him on the gate.

00:54Mid-pack start.

00:55It's going to take more than that.

00:57To beat the number 99 of Max Anstey.

01:00Anstey with a great run through the woods.

01:02There's the 69 of Cody Schock coming up through the field quickly.

01:05And there's the number one of McElrath,

01:07and he's got a big push up the inside.

01:09That's the 43 of Colin Barth.

01:10And you can see McElrath got up into the top block.

01:13Oh, he smacked that thing.

01:14He has to be so aggressive on this opening lap

01:16to make the moves needed to have a shot at this thing.

01:18And thinking back to Buenos Aires, it was the same thing.

01:21A bad start in race one.

01:23Puts it back.

01:23He was able to overcome that and get himself up to second overall.

01:26But this is not what you want to do early in the night, early in the championship.

01:30He's going to have to have a great couple laps here to get up with that front group.

01:34Ten points up for grabs if you can win race number one,

01:37which is just an eight-lap sprint race, Jeff.

01:39So McElrath back in eight.

01:43One of the riders directly in front of him is Colin Park,

01:45Moto Concepts Honda, the number 43.

01:48He was so good at round one.

01:51He did not get the start he needed right now.

01:53He's already made some moves.

01:54He's up to sixth as Peters goes back to seventh.

01:58Keep an eye on the 43, top of your screen there.

02:01The white bike, he is going to, the speed he has,

02:05he has the ability to work himself onto a podium position in this race one.

02:10We're almost halfway through this one.

02:11Park sits back in sixth, the 24-year-old rider out of Florida.

02:15How about Cody Schott in second?

02:17Think back to a week ago.

02:19A bad race one, a better race two,

02:21and then a phenomenal race three in a four-rider battle

02:24that he overcame all the competition.

02:27And now he gets up front and a chance to get up there.

02:28But look at Hicks and Lopes running 3-4.

02:30Yeah, I was going to say, how about all you EV lovers out there?

02:33The Stark, Michael Hicks, new team to World Supercross.

02:37First time, the Stark electric bike is competing at this level,

02:41and Hicks has been fantastic.

02:43He's shown some real flashes of brilliance,

02:46and the riders say that riding against the electric Stark is totally different.

02:51Oh, he goes inside his lopes on the 16,

02:54and he's going to make the move and get past Hicks.

02:56Because you don't hear the bike.

02:58And here's a crowd favorite, the number two of Cole Thompson.

03:01Thompson, the Canadian rider, having a good run.

03:04Right now sits in fifth.

03:08Everybody chasing Anstey as we're past the halfway point here in SX2 race number one.

03:13Yeah, Anstey's up now 2.7 over Cody Schock with that free track

03:18while the battle happens behind him.

03:19That was a great move by Lopes,

03:21who also had one of the three main events last week go his way.

03:24So for Schock and for Lopes, this is where you want to be on the Rick Ware racing machines.

03:29But for Park, for Thompson, you've got to get around Hicks right now.

03:33You've got to get up to those top three.

03:34Guys, early on during qualifying, just qualifying, we saw how run it out these jump faces got.

03:39How long will it take during actual racing, Jeff, before the faces get wiped out the fronts?

03:45Oh, it's going to be great.

03:46This is an eight-lap sprint race, okay?

03:48Race one and two are just eight-lap sprints.

03:51So the track's going to be fresh right now.

03:53But after eight laps, it'll start to show a little character.

03:57When we run the SX1 race one after that, the 450s are on that,

04:02that's when the track's really going to get chewed up.

04:04Character good, the rest of it no bueno, right?

04:06Yeah.

04:07Yeah, and that character, you can see.

04:09Here's the amount of points you can win.

04:10Ten gives you, first gives you ten, second nine, third gives you eight,

04:14and so forth all the way down to tenth, where you pick up just one.

04:17Here's the number two bike, having a really good ride now.

04:20Cole Thompson, that Canadian rider on the Venom Bud racing machine.

04:23Thompson's sitting in fourth, trying to catch up to low, see if he can get up to third.

04:27I'm telling you guys, though, Colin Park is my pick.

04:31I think he's got it.

04:34He's just riding with so much more confidence than what I've seen him ride with before.

04:39And Thompson and Park right there, fourth and fifth.

04:44These guys are going to battle for the podium.

04:45I think they both have the speed to get up there.

04:48Yeah, and then Hicks behind them on the start, watching Thompson coming right at you.

04:53There's Park.

04:54Park's a little bit taller rider, too, Jeff.

04:56Is that going to give him an advantage on a track like this tonight that's going to get all chewed up?

05:00It could.

05:01It could, definitely, especially when you're skimming the whoops.

05:03You can move your weight around a little bit more.

05:05He's all over, Thompson.

05:06Yeah, he's closing in in a hurry.

05:07Here they come over the finish line jump.

05:09Where will Park try to get around Thompson?

05:12Do you see anywhere on the track, Daniel, where he has an advantage?

05:14Yeah, a couple spots.

05:15And that's what's cool about this track is you see different line choices.

05:18Thompson being a little bit tighter on some insides.

05:21Park trying to work the outsides.

05:22And we saw that in qualifying in Super Bowl.

05:24These guys are taking all kinds of different rhythm combos, left and right in the whoops,

05:29some jumping, some blitzing.

05:30There's that different line right there.

05:32And that's what's great about this opening moto.

05:34Not everything has developed just yet.

05:35You can swing wide, try different options, and they're doing that now.

05:39Watching Anstey in the upper left.

05:41Coming up to just the last lap here.

05:44Scheduled only for eight.

05:45Look at Park going through the whoops here.

05:46That could be a spot where he makes something happen.

05:49We go back to the race leader, Max Anstey.

05:51Here he comes towards the finish line jump.

05:55Could be one to go for Max Anstey.

05:57But did Park make that pass?

06:05Let's see.

06:06No.

06:06Time in scoring still has Park in fifth.

06:09Thompson able to fend that off of Tom.

06:11The last lap.

06:12Park has got the whoops dialed.

06:14He's going down the right side.

06:16Thompson's going down the left.

06:17Shock still running smoothly in second.

06:20Here's loops all by himself in third.

06:22Then it's back here.

06:22We get to Thompson and Park.

06:24This is where it gets really interesting.

06:26And Hicks right behind them.

06:27Then McElrath hanging on in seventh.

06:29Peters has dropped back to eighth in this opening race number one for the SX2 category.

06:35Anstey, nice run through the whoops.

06:36Keeping an eye on the rest of them.

06:38Everybody pretty smooth there.

06:39But they're going through in different areas.

06:41You saw loops far to the right.

06:43Look at Thompson.

06:44Right up along the top blocks.

06:45And here's Park trying to find a way around on this final lap.

06:48Gets a little bit wider.

06:51And Anstey will light the candles as he takes the win.

06:55And that's next to race number one.

06:58And in the final corner, Park gets together with Thompson.

07:01It looks like, is it going to be Hicks?

07:03Oh, three riders wide.

07:05Thompson, Park, and Hicks.

07:07Is that the way?

07:07That's what timing and scoring is showing right now.

07:10Yeah, it looks like it.

07:12Thompson just got there.

07:15Park went.

07:16They're talking about it.

07:17They're not happy.

07:18No.

07:19This is heating up real quick here.

07:22Thompson was stingy with those inside lines trying to play a little defense.

07:27Park is obviously not happy.

07:28Park's not having anything to do with it.

07:31I love it.

07:32They're going to keep beating and banging on each other.

07:35And the FIM officials.
