00:00Five minutes plus the lap this first race.

00:03Gate goes, Clout on the number 4, 250, but it's Borrome who leads the way on the 172

00:09over the Milwaukee Hullshot.

00:13Borrome leads the way, Clout there in second on that Kawasaki in orange, third.

00:19Alongside, I think just moving into third, is the 7.44 of Saad Sulamani on the TM.

00:25And then we've got Bourdon trying to nip up the inside into that third place

00:29and spooks him.

00:30Oh, Clout very close as he came in to land there.

00:33But Bourdon does move into that third place.

00:35Great move.

00:36Yeah, it was.

00:37And Clout did a fantastic job of sneaking up the inside as he tries to make another move

00:40on Borrome there.

00:41He did not have to jump, but he's a wily veteran.

00:44He knew if he just stuck to the inside he'd be okay.

00:47Ooh, Borrome comes away.

00:48Oh, how did Clout miss Borrome there?

00:53One side of the track to the other, Borrome goes from the lead.

00:56Clout takes over.

00:58And onto that step on, step off.

01:02This is the section we were talking about.

01:03If you can quad into there, but they are jumping long into the berm, the 450 guys.

01:08Yeah, a lot of mistakes.

01:09You just wonder if it's, you know, the jumps are all have been reshaped.

01:12Is there just an inconsistency there?

01:13Because that's been multiple big mistakes by Wood Clout.

01:17It's usually a fairly mistake free.

01:18And then Borrome has already had a big crash today.

01:20But I think just some of the newness of the track catches them out.

01:25Look at Jake Cannon on the Kawasaki getting past there with the yellow helmet on the foot.

01:31Racing Kawasaki fell there in the time practice session earlier.

01:34His hand came off the bar and he went down.

01:36But his teammate this weekend, who's been riding in Australia as well.

01:42And then obviously riding here.

01:44Who's that that's gone down?

01:45The 27 of Hugo Manzato on the Hasmada, the Frenchman.

01:48That's the sand we were talking about.

01:50Unpredictable.

01:51A thin layer of sand on top of a clay base.

01:54Especially the line really hasn't been worked in yet.

01:57So the front tire is going to be pushing all the way through that section.

02:00Well, this was a battle that we said would be tight between Clout and Bordon.

02:04Clout got the better start.

02:05Bordon had to fight through a couple of riders.

02:07He's got himself into second.

02:08And the Honda rider looking ready to pounce on the Australian.

02:12Who, when I spoke to him today, he was glad to be back on a 250.

02:16It's been a couple of years, two or three years or so that he was last on a 250.

02:19And on the media day, on Friday, you could see that he'd been a little bit rusty in terms of that 250 action.

02:25Because he was wanting the power to come out to get him to drive over the wounds.

02:28It wasn't happening.

02:29So he's really having to ride his way back into a little bit of memory muscle on this machine to get familiarity.

02:34Yeah, some of his line choices, you can tell that he's thinking like a 450 rider.

02:38He's kind of cutting a lot of the corners short, drawing really tight apexes.

02:41And that's leaving him short on some of the bigger jumps.

02:44See how quickly the track is drying out as well.

02:47Just started to slick up as they came in at the end of the landing there.

02:50Over the finish line, triple into this right-hander.

02:52Who is quickest through the woods?

02:54Bordeaux in second.

02:55Oh, Clout.

02:56Clout has the advantage that time around.

02:58Able to hop out over the last three.

03:00Nothing in it between them, though.

03:04Doesn't matter about the lap times.

03:06These two are locked together a bite length apart.

03:08There's that triple.

03:11Would you say that's a quad or a triple at the end there?

03:13I would say quad.

03:14That's a highly debated topic.

03:15You're walking into dangerous waters there with that question.

03:17But I would say quad.

03:20Anyway, onto this rhythm again.

03:22Is there going to be a move?

03:23Not quite.

03:24Close enough.

03:25And Clout was middle of the line there, middle of the track.

03:28So it went nice and defensive, but not so much that he was going to be compromised on the exit.

03:34Good responses, actually.

03:36What have we got left?

03:37A minute and a half plus a lap.

03:39Almost folded the front in that right-hander.

03:42Yeah, for Perdon here, he needs to be thinking about where can he make a pass?

03:47We talked about this section that they're entering right now.

03:49That could possibly be one, but first things first, he needs to close the gap.

03:53The French-based Moroccan Saad Soleimani on the TM here.

03:59He is ahead of Calvin Fonvier, the red plate holder, the championship leader in Essex 2.

04:06Remember, he's got a one-point lead over Michael Hicks, who's not here this weekend,

04:11but that doesn't matter.

04:12Ponvier's still got to go out and score points because we don't know how the average point

04:16score from Hicks will kind of come into play after the final round a week from now.

04:20So he's got to go out and execute no matter what.

04:24Bourdon gaining momentum again, Jason.

04:26Closing it down.

04:27He has to get to his rear wheel if he hopes to make a pass.

04:30I'm still not exactly sure where the move will come from if he's able to pull it off.

04:34I think Rhythm going into turn two on the opposite side of the arena into that left.

04:41If he could get close enough to him entering the whoops and just go up the inside and meet

04:44him at the apex of that corner, that's another spot, but it seems like it's going to have

04:48to be a little bit aggressive.

04:49End of this next straight if he's close enough.

04:51There we go.

04:52He's perfectly on off.

04:53He's got good drive through here.

04:54He's going to jump long to the inside.

04:56And there is the move up the inside.

04:58Very cool.

04:59You could see it was coming.

05:00That was really the first major place that it was going to go down.

05:04Clout now, though, looking to go around the outside, tries to respond immediately.

05:09Can't find a way back through at the moment.

05:10But then he responds with a similar move, but doesn't get the momentum through the whoops.

05:16Is that all she wrote?

05:19Did the one that Bord go out there or was there time?

05:23Still on the clock as they hit, as we were watching that move into that final turn.

05:28But Bordon lost out on the Prince of Paris, tied on points for Tom Vial a year ago.

05:34He's shown his hand here so far in his first race.

05:38Yeah, that was perfectly executed.

05:40Clout's not tripling on to that tabletop.

05:42And you don't think it loses much time.

05:44It's just enough to allow Bordon to get to the inside.

05:47So a couple of corners to go then.

05:50I imagine the flag is about to go out.

05:53The checkers goes out for Bordon, who wins race one.

05:57Clout second, 1.3 behind.

06:00Still a good effort from the Aussie.

06:02Back on a 2.50.

06:03Not easy after riding the last two or three years on a 4.50.

06:06But this one's going to be fun and games for the next five races over the course of the weekend, JT.

06:11Yeah, they seem like the class of the field.

06:13But if we get more racing like that throughout the weekend, I think everybody will get it.
