00:28they hit the line for the first time from both Lawrence's Hunter and Jet Webb for

00:36Welton Escoffier Camparese and Mitchell Harrison intent it is a boring first lap
00:42no champions are on the ground yet this is kind of chalk this is what we thought
00:47we'd see going into the race one of the night and we'll see how it develops from
00:51here but yeah Malcolm Stewart everybody yeah Webb is a typical Jet being really
00:57on the first lap but Webb is all over him early that's coming here guys
01:01we have up to third Jet has shown a propensity and this is a really short
01:08race so he doesn't have the time he would typically have but this has been
01:11something he does in America and he usually ends up making up for it but the
01:15first laps have really not been his friend so Malcolm Stewart leads great work
01:21speed but Hunter Lawrence matching him every step of the way there in second
01:26Cooper Webb third coming towards us now holds a nice tight line makes a shorter
01:30run through then goes double triple and then just on off at the end of the
01:35straight Jet went a little long on the two three I don't think he really wanted to
01:39go two three anyway but Webb kind of crossed yeah front of his line right yeah last minute
01:46so Webb his quote after the race was yeah we had a couple of problems during the race which is why
01:53he said Malcolm passed we've all surmised it may have been on between all three of us what do you
01:57reckon guys well Steve was saying that maybe they were working on some clutch adjustment stuff there
02:03so it'd be interesting to get his comments after to find out if it was arm pump was something with the
02:07motorcycle but either way he can't take anything away from Malcolm Stewart who won the first race
02:12has come out swinging in race two in a fantastic position here with just under six minutes plus a
02:16lap to go Hunter Lawrence ain't gonna let him off the hook though no exactly I saw a hunter cutting
02:21that corner right there that we just saw really tight in the super pole and it is qualifying earlier I
02:26wonder if he switches to that a little bit that doesn't drift all the way to the outside but other
02:29than that I mean Malcolm's strength is the wolf so if you're Hunter Lawrence you're like I got to do
02:33some of the corners it's gotta be corners that one there and uh the one before the whoops but you
02:39go too aggressive in that turn before the whoops you lose your drive to get across and clean and
02:44they're not the smallest whoops are they no these are good everyone was talking about the track walk
02:49and how big they were and Malcolm you know he's not all the way back you know it's mentioning it and
02:55I mentioned that two 13 minute I kind of meant tonight and tomorrow but just accumulation of laps
03:00right is he going to have this type of intensity this type of burst over the course of two full
03:06days I was gonna say two days but the last race being a 13 minute plus a lap so that's almost uh you
03:10know 14 minute race could be a 20 lap around this tight compact circuit more open than the old burst
03:15of course but you know how long has he been back on the bike it's a lot of riding at this pace when
03:21you're not fully prepared and I would argue that none of them are on Anaheim form yet but if you
03:27really haven't been riding much and you haven't been doing much which is probably the case for
03:30Malcolm it's gonna wear on it correct yeah sixth ride since SMX so not not like JT said not Anaheim
03:37one ready at all yeah for Malcolm but he's holding really strong here it's impressive here's Tom Bial
03:42he's in fifth place at the moment for Honda HRC of course for those who've been in the wilderness
03:46stuck under a rock oh I did it down for Harrison on the finish line jump oh sorry just in the whoops
03:52actually just uh he'd gone over the track into the uh the run-in after the finish line so Mitchell
03:59Harrison then making a mistake where was he he was in eighth place that's two for two for Harrison
04:05he crashed both made so far but he had a bummer for him yeah but he had a good run in uh he had a good
04:09result in the first race coming home uh actually in sixth despite the fall in the in the sand here
04:14wherever it was anyway Malcolm Stewart still holding a slender one and a half seconds and then
04:20he'll open that up to about two seconds through the whoops well you two are ex-racers and you guys are
04:24all the same you racers you're all the same Malcolm told me look I've only ridden six times I'm coming
04:29off injury I gotta be really safe here I just want to you know do my laps and bring it home and now he's
04:35going two for two so you racers are all the same you guys are liars no no no basically what he's done
04:39is just put that message out there to his rivals where they've just gone yeah Malcolm's just saying
04:44I'm just going to play it safe and everything else and yeah it's just uh reverse psychology what were
04:48you saying in 94 it's the destination I'm just going to play it safe yeah exactly look what happened
04:52yeah but yeah no absolutely I'm very impressed with Malcolm right now right jet closing in dare we
05:01say on uh Cooper Webb for this third place remember it's one point for a win two for second nation's
05:08style oh nice here we go down the inside into the I wish I could call it like that I wish I could call
05:15humans wish they could corner like that that was ridiculous again when you talk about setting up a
05:20pass that was perfect there from uh from jet got out of the turn early pretty much ran close to the
05:25top blocks down past the whoops into that sand section and uh Cooper Webb was always on the outside
05:30there there was no way he was going to get back across yeah and this is this is prototypical jet
05:35here but in the U.S. there would be another 14 minutes plus a lap or you know motocross a lot longer
05:42than that to sort out what he would need to do for the rest of the race this is not that these short
05:46races I don't think he's going to magically change his mo that he's established over the course of years
05:51but you can see where those the hesitation on the early laps the inability to be his on his best form
05:57is setting it back look how closely he's closing Hunter down now that he's kind of found that pace
06:02I remember when the when he first rode the 450 here a couple years ago and from out of nowhere he
06:06found two seconds in the lap just to sort of get himself back in the hunt and I was wondering whether
06:10that was going to happen now that he just found his way past uh Cooper Webb Boston Steve was there
06:15he'll remember this all too clearly at Vegas he drops two seconds a lap out of nowhere to go win
06:20the championship that is that's not normal behavior most riders can't simply can't do that so we'll see if
06:25he's got something like that in the tank here Bowen Florence brother set their best lap that last
06:29time around yeah so they are heating up but Malcolm Stewart 44 8 last time around sorry 44 9 last time
06:39around but he still has 1.6 so again he gets it out to about two seconds at the end of the whoops
06:48Hunter close him back down then it goes back out again that concertina effect through the
06:55works jet Lawrence these two know each other very very well on the training ground don't they
06:59uh at the farm down there in Florida and what a different Hunter Lawrence we've seen this time
07:06here you know last year he was all at sea didn't have any setup just struggled all weekend long just
07:12looks a different rider now but that's another year on the bike yep absolutely right it's a little
07:16bit knowing this new chassis the new bike nothing much has changed from it absolutely exactly the
07:21same bike as the year before so well they really struggled with that chassis early in 2025 they could
07:30not figure that bike out I mean what arguably the worst race comprehensively between the two of
07:35of their career at Anaheim last year and they quickly found what they needed to kudos to Honda HRC but
07:42uh what a difference a year makes and not that they're necessarily on fire at the moment but
07:46they're a far cry from where they were a year ago boy I just can't be I can't say enough about
07:51Malcolm Stewart right now we are uh 10 seconds to go until the white flag comes out next time around
07:56and he is winning again 1.5 up on Hunter I thought Hunter would reel him in a little bit and uh good job
08:03I mean really you hate to say effortless because of course he's trying but really not under duress
08:09kind of at all just another example you can't believe anything riders tell you people the media
08:15everything else I mean I just literally had a conversation with Malcolm about how he's taking
08:18it easy yeah well Malcolm is going to go 1-1 at the moment that's going to be a score of two the
08:22lowest maximum score possible Hunter Lawrence with his two plus uh the four is going to give him six
08:27Jett Lawrence with a three and uh uh where was he eighth in race one he's going to give him 11
08:32but there's going to be some people in in and around there Webb for instance Webb and Hunter
08:35will be five yeah six yeah just for tonight yeah remember all six races count lowest scores every
08:45single race and BL's rebounded nicely I mean from a bad gate pick again just like we talked about
08:50right uh he didn't have to lose qualifying today but BL's running strong at fifth but this man here
08:55on the screen he is on fire yeah white flag is out so uh Malcolm Stewart now with 2.7 seconds
09:03over Hunter nervous look behind there as he gets held up by a back marker wants to know exactly where
09:07Jett is well Jett's about 5.8 seconds further back so Jett just losing uh or just three seconds behind
09:14his brother actually I have to imagine Webb's gonna be pretty frustrated with this ride too he was kind of
09:19there in position and uh they they put some time into him yeah hold on five seconds Jett did on on
09:26Cooper Webb right in final turn Mookie goes 1-1 well must be the fans on his side because his quote
09:33after the race was uh you know you guys are all cheering for me you keep it going your man Mookie
09:37is going to show up for race two race three and all the rest of it that's exactly what he's done
