00:30Best thing he can do, Jeff, is get out front and set a pace he can stay with.

01:48And we talked to Yariv Konski, the team owner of this Quad Lock Honda team, and they brought
01:57on Christian Craig to join Joey Savace.
02:00They have big hopes for both riders, especially in the team competition.
02:05Here's Deegan right here, and he is digging.
02:07Hayden Deegan up to eighth on his Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing bike.
02:12And that, Jeff, is a tremendous ride.
02:14As we catch a glimpse of Justin Cooper right here on the 32, Coop is up to eighth.
02:19He's right behind Deegan on his matching Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing bike.
02:24Two wild cards.
02:25Deegan already up to sixth.
02:28Zaragoza is right in front of him.
02:30That's who he's chasing right now.
02:31There they are, coming at you.
02:32And Justin Cooper, not a great start for him, but certainly one of the riders being a wild card
02:39that you really feel like has the speed and the talent to compete for the win.
02:44All right, Jeff, let's watch Hayden Deegan here on that 38.
02:46The blue machine battling, trying to get around Zaragoza on the start.
02:50That's an electric bike just in front of him, and he's got his teammate, Cooper, coming up
02:55to the inside.
02:56So let's watch his race craft on the 450, Jeff.
02:59You've seen him a bunch on the 250.
03:00How's he doing here as he closes in on Zaragoza on the outside?
03:03Yeah, he closed in on him a little bit, but didn't have the line going into the turn.
03:08Now, the word is that the start, if it does have a little disadvantage, is that it doesn't
03:14get across the whoops as good as the internal combustion engines.
03:19But how is Deegan doing adjusting to the 450?
03:22Do you like his style as he gets around Zaragoza here?
03:25Oh, he was riding in practice today.
03:27He was riding a 450 like it was a 250.
03:29He was revving the thing out, hitting the rev limiter.
03:33I mean, I think it was second round of practice.
03:36He was fastest.
03:37I mean, this is a lot more bike, right?
03:40There's 200 cc's more displacement.
03:43And Cooper gets around Zaragoza now, too.
03:46So they're now going to move up, both of them.
03:48They will be running sixth and seventh, Deegan and Cooper here.
03:52And look at this lead for Kid Rocks in 4.2 seconds over Christian Craig.
03:58Savace about three seconds behind Craig.
04:02Matt Moss, the Australian, still running fourth.
04:04What I love seeing out of Deegan right now, Jeff, he is really flowing.
04:09You can see him doing the big whips coming over the finish line jump.
04:11He is into it.
04:12Oh, blasting the turns.
04:14Just tough blocks flying everywhere.
04:16He's having fun, isn't he?

04:22You know, this is the first time that Hayden Deegan has ever been out of the United States.

04:54Get right up behind him and see what they do.

04:57Yeah, Justin Cooper had a terrible run through the whoops.
05:01He was down the right side.
05:03And Deegan just really blasted there.
05:05Oh, he's trying to make the move on Moss.
05:08As Paulatelli, Moto Concepts rider, is fourth.
05:12Moss to fifth.
05:14And now Deegan to fifth.
05:17Deegan just 19 years of age.
05:20Cooper, 28.
05:22Both riders out of America on the Star Racing, or Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha.
05:31You see the 98 of Austin Paulatelli in that Moto Concepts racing entry.
05:38Paulatelli sits fourth.
05:40So, Hayden Deegan doing right what they want as he gets around him.
05:43He's inside the top five now, up to fourth.
05:46Running well.
05:47Remember, Jeff, he had that terrible game pick.
05:49Had a terrible start.
05:50Was dead last going into the first corner.
05:53And now Hayden Deegan finds himself up to fourth.
05:57Yeah, it's really impressive.
05:58I mean, watch what he's doing here.
06:01Oh, we just missed it.
06:02He's blasting tough blocks on the outside, just throttling up the Yamaha.
06:06Meanwhile, Ken Roxton out front, just doing what Ken Roxton has done so many times.
06:11You give Ken Roxton a clear track, and he's allowed to ride whatever line he wants.
06:15He makes it look so easy.
06:17He's got a five-and-a-half-second lead.
06:19He ran his last lap of the 54-7, Jeff.
06:22So, I think he's pushing just hard enough.
06:25That's a fairly quick lap time, but not too fast.
06:30Deegan having made up 12 spots already here in this race.

06:36Impressive ride.
06:37Really impressive.
06:40Final lap for Ken Roxton, who's going to be very happy to see this one come to an end.
06:43He can go back and relax a little bit, hopefully rehydrate some, Jeff.
06:47He'll pick up 10 points and get ready for race number two.
06:50I mean, that's the way to do it if you're Ken Roxton, right?
06:53Just try to stay in your zone.
06:55Try to conserve energy and ride as efficiently as you can.
06:58Obviously, getting off early in the race with the whole shot makes life so much easier, but it's only going to get tougher as the night goes on.

07:08The next one's eight laps.
07:09Then it's going to be 12 at the end of the night.
07:11The track's getting really slippery.
07:13It's getting difficult.
07:14The whoops are going to be more difficult as the night goes on.
07:18But Ken Roxton is riding like the champion that he is.

07:41And here he comes in his 450 debut.
