00:00Trying to build any sort of gap right now, that may be too much to close down.
00:05Impressive ride by Cannon so far to start, though.
00:07He's kind of gotten better and better a little bit.
00:08O'Club was in the second by Monvier, and so now this is a teammate in front of him.
00:14Which, I mean, college has been passed a bit all weekend, so this probably doesn't take too long.
00:17Maybe in the books here.
00:18Steve, you know that's Charlie Cannon's brother?
00:21I did not know that.
00:21Yes.
00:22Australian?
00:22Yep.
00:24Yeah, pretty talented family, to say the least.
00:26Yeah, and she's...
00:27Similar to Lachlan Turner or Lachlan Turner.
00:28And there you go, there was the pass around the outside.
00:32He made it happen as we just cut the way.
00:34And Monvier looking for a way up the inside.
00:37Cannon unseated as he entered the sand there.
00:39So hanging on to that second position at the moment.
00:41I wonder if he can try and follow his teammate through a lap here just to sort of see on line choice and things like that.
00:47Just to try and, you know, break free from Calvin Monvier.
00:51Because Clab definitely has more pace.
00:53Bourdain just got another spot in the sand, so Bourdain is moving up here.
00:56He got in the fifth right now.
00:58So this starts right ahead of him before he starts seeing Clab.
01:02Humphrey's pretty impressive here, sitting in fourth.
01:05I mean, we haven't really seen him have a lot of breakthrough rides racing.
01:09Yeah.
01:09Super talented kid.
01:10Does a lot of different disciplines of riding.
01:12But this has been pretty impressive from him.
01:16And here he is just under pressure from Bourdain through the whoops.
01:19Bourdain looking to make a move.
01:20And he makes it stick.
01:21Moves into fourth place.
01:22Now he has daylight.
01:24And Calvin Monvier just ahead of him on the number 11 KTM.
01:27Of course, he's the championship leader.
01:29Or has there been Bourdain gone through?
01:30Yeah, Fondier has found his way past Cannon, it looks like.
01:34Or has he?
01:35Yes, he has into second on the number 11.
01:37Just lead rider in shot in the left-hander now.
01:39That's Cannon to the outside, Bourdain to the inside over the stripe.
01:42But Clout, just over a second clear of the Frenchman, Calvin Monvier.
01:51But number three, Jake Cannon.
01:53Yeah, like a cannon out of the start.
01:56And still hanging on in there in that third place at the moment.
01:59But it's his whoops speed that just let him down.
02:01But that might improve by the time he gets to tomorrow.
02:03As you said, Steve Mathis, those whoops just get a little bit easier,
02:06a little bit smaller through the course of the weekend.
02:08There was the pass there.
02:09Cannon fodder from Bourdain there.
02:10Oh, Bourdain.
02:11I'm on fire here.
02:14And Bourdain's got to get busy here if he wants to get a chance at this.
02:17Clout hasn't made a lot of mistakes.
02:19Obviously, he passed the first made him in really impressively,
02:22but he's got to latch onto him in advance.
02:24Look at this lap times right now.
02:26Clout has a 47 flat.
02:28He just set his fastest time.
02:29Bourdain's 47-2, and he's four seconds back.
02:32So Bourdain's got to start flipping that on quick.
02:35Yeah, Cannon 7-6 so far, and currently in fourth now
02:40with Bourdain going past a month ago.
02:43But again, a rider from Australia, he enjoys riding Supercross.
02:45He came over and did a futures race beginning of this year.
02:49And obviously, he did an Aussie race last year.
02:51But in between that, he's been doing European Championship, the MX 250.
02:53So not getting a lot of Supercross time as Bourdain forces his way up the inside
02:58on Femmier into second place.
03:01So, well, should we have been concerned with his eighth or tenth place start?
03:05Clearly not.
03:06No, not really, right?
03:08Got some time to make up here.
03:09But fortunately for him now, first race and second race was five minutes plus a lap.
03:13That's exactly what he's got left.
03:14So he's got, you know, he's in a position where he's about three seconds maybe, four seconds.
03:21It was three tenths quicker that lap.
03:23Bourdain was then in Clout.
03:24So he's starting to, once to get it done, he's starting to make it happen.
03:28That's the overall classification at the moment.
03:29Clout on four, Bourdain on five, Bombier ten, and Pietro on 15.
03:33So that's how it will look podium tonight.
03:36No Prince will be crowned until tomorrow after two days of racing.
03:40But Anthony Bourdain, his gap, the gap is four seconds, 4.1 seconds at the moment.
03:45But, wow, what a fantastic ride for him.
03:47Not sure how long he's been in Europe and whether he's been going backwards and forwards or not.
03:51But certainly I think he goes to Australia a week from now.
03:54He's been back, yeah.
03:55I think he just came over for Stuttgart, came straight to Bercy, and then he'll go back and finish the Australian Championship.
04:01I'll tell you what, though, this is so difficult here because he can hear the crowd cheering for Bourdain.
04:06And I don't know if you can pick it up on the broadcast or not, but the crowd is really behind Bourdain here.
04:12So to fight that off mentally, because everything's working in Bourdain's favor with that adrenaline and momentum and push forward,
04:21but continues to put in great lap time.
04:23So I like the mental fortitude that Claude has shown so far.
04:28The gap still hovering around four seconds, so three and a half minutes plus a lap to go.
04:33Will it be a mistake or backmarkers that determines the outcome of this final race and the top step of the podium here on day one in Paris at the Paris-la-de-Ponce Arena?
04:46Nanterre, about five miles north of the Eiffel Tower.
04:48But the crowd definitely get behind Anthony Bourdain here.
04:55Break through that rhythm section there.
04:56Saad Soleimani and Jewel Pietra bar-to-bar here.
05:00And having a little bit of cat-mouse, Pietra wins that battle as he moves into sixth place.
05:06And these two still going at it, and Pietra is ironing up a podium here, is a little bit loose there.
05:13Meanwhile, up front, Claude keeps putting a tick or two on Bourdain the last three laps in a row.
05:19Slowly opening that lead up, that's 4.5 seconds now.
05:22So Claude looked like he lost some time for a couple laps, and there's time for Bourdain to go, but Claude has stabilized and now slowly pulling away from Bourdain.
05:29Here comes Pietra.
05:31Sorry, we've got seven minutes to go.
05:34Two and a half.
05:35What? Oh, sorry.
05:37My bad, like a Canadian now.
05:40I was just looking at Pietra and Saad Soleimani going at it there, that last lap, back and forth.
05:47Saad Soleimani is short, stocky.
05:48You wouldn't want to mess with him in terms of the riders in this category, especially when you're Jules Pietro.
05:53It looks like a wafer thin.
05:56I've seen more meat on a sparrow's kneecap, you know what I mean?
05:58Yeah, sparrow's kneecap is nice, but I've seen a lot of those.
06:03But these two, still fighting over that, what, sixth place in the race, but two Frenchies, well.
06:11French by way of Morocco?
06:12Yeah, by Morocco.
06:13He lives here and everything else, but yeah, he's Moroccan, first of all.
06:21But Claude, yeah, extending his lead to almost five seconds as they hit the line at the end of lap eight.
06:26Minute 40 to go, plus the lap.
06:30Still impressive, this, though, from Jules Pietro.
06:34And Les Claude makes a big mistake.
06:36He's got this.
06:37He's got this.
06:37And if you're Bourdain, though, you know you took one main event win passing him this week.
06:41Tomorrow's three more, right?
06:43Anything can happen, so Claude can get the bad start.
06:45Like Bourdain did this main event.
06:47So I think if you're Anthony Bourdain, like, hey, man, I went one, two, two, close to him, and, you know, you pack it up and wait for another day.
06:55And the other thing is, well, yeah, Paris is always two days of racing and intense racing as well, especially with those whoops thrown in as big as they are.
07:01You know, it's like these guys will head back to the hotel, still fueled with adrenaline.
07:07They'll eventually get to sleep probably around about 2 o'clock in the morning, and then they'll wake up.
07:11It's a day show tomorrow.
07:12We're live from 2 o'clock Central European time here rather than 7 o'clock in the evening.
07:17So we'll be all done and dusted around about 5.30 in the evening.
07:19And so, obviously, yeah, they'll get a little bit of sleep.
07:24Then they're on track.
07:25There won't be a free practice.
07:26It'll be straight into time practice.
07:27There'll be a short window.
07:29Then we'll open the doors, and then we've got the program a little bit more revised and fine-tuned for day two.
07:34It usually is.
07:36I've got a little scared of everybody.
07:38Yeah.
07:38They've saved themselves by the end.
07:39JT, you would have hated these whoops.
07:41I hated all whoops, Steve.
07:42So, yes, by default, you are absolutely correct.
07:45Seattle stuff you liked in these stuff.
07:47I tell you what, though, like, in that situation,
07:49it helps Clout to be taller.
07:51There's so much, right?
07:53When you get a little loose, the motorcycle doesn't put you out of position.
07:56You just have so much more clearance.
08:00Yeah, and again, now 5.3, I think Bourdain is, well, actually, you know what?
08:04He was two seconds off pretty much in the time practice session as well.
08:07So I'm not sure if he just hit a wall after that first race and then that second race result
08:12and then into Super Bowl because he hasn't been the same.
08:14He was impressive coming through the field.
08:16But either Luke Clout was just responded.
08:20Yeah, I think Clout's just cleaned it up a little bit.
08:22I honestly do.
08:25Because the gap now is six seconds.
08:27But it's only day one.
08:28He's going to be second overall.
08:30There's only going to be a point separating them as they go into day two.
08:33Luke Clout is heading for the checkered flag because time is up.
08:38Got Wave Jell-O's here.
08:39It's wider down off the side of the track there.
08:42Oh, that looks like Humphrey.
08:43Yeah, that looks like Humphrey.
08:45Yeah, he's gone down at a seventh place.
08:49Maybe just came up short on that Milwaukee wall jump there.
08:52You come out of the left, you've got like a little step on.
08:54Very easy to make that mistake.
08:56But a couple of corners to go for Luke Clout.
09:03And Luke Clout takes his second win of the night.
09:07He's gone 2-1-1 back-to-back in his race wins.
09:11He will lead after day one.
09:12Bordon second.
09:13He'll be second overall.
09:14And Calvin Fonvier will probably be third on the podium ahead of Jules Pietra.
09:20But then Jake Cannon, Saad Soleimani in there as well.
09:23But your race finishes with Luke Clout, Bordon and Fonvier.
09:27Cannon four and Saad Soleimani fifth.
09:30Jules Pietra losing out the battle between him and Saad Soleimani.
09:33Michael Lamarck will be seventh.
09:35Hugo Manzato, Andrea Bonifacio, Carl Osterman of Germany.
09:39And then it will be Dorian Koch of France.
09:43Nice to see the sportsmanship between the top three guys there.
09:46All happy and congratulating each other.
