00:00where were you when you found out and what were your initial thoughts when you found out that

00:10brian david was out brandon hello i'm trying to think of my geography to think where i was

00:17maybe i was over um i don't know des moines i don't know maybe maybe uh the uh the pittsburgh

00:24allegheny area i guess yeah i was flying back from chicago as anyone who traveled this weekend

00:29uh very difficult travel situations with um you know uh the stoppages and things like that and

00:35delays so yes uh i covered another loss in in chicago uh hard to believe but not hard to believe

00:43and um so we'll break it down yeah and um so certainly not shocked uh you know we've done

00:50this a lot brandon you know these blue rush uh podcasts and um you know after a bunch of them

00:55um we maybe not speculated about someone being fired but it's certainly uh we talked about a lot

01:00of losses and when you talk about a lot of losses this is the inevitable next step 20 40 and one

01:06as head coach and let's kind of just go through what brian dable did and somewhat what he didn't

01:12do as head coach probably came in in 2022 and he just completely just took over the city i'm talking

01:19nine seven and one record they went to the playoffs that first game he captured the fan base's heart and

01:26and and trust when you go for it on on a two-point conversion you get it with saquon barkley you're

01:32playing big biggie smalls is juicy in the locker room smoking cigars you get branded as brian day balls

01:39and then it all just went downhill from there six and 11 in 2023 three and 14 and then we have a two

01:46and eight uh start to the uh 2025 season how did you hear or what do you know about how it all went

01:55down when do you think ownership and management kind of made that decision to where it was like

02:01okay it's now time to move on um very recently you know i mean this is this is certainly i know say

02:09been brewing but look the record is the record the uh terrible losses are the terrible losses so

02:13after uh steve tisch the co uh one of the giants co-owners was in chicago for the game uh john

02:19mara was not he is not making all these road trips because he is in cancer treatment so uh john

02:24mara was home steve tisch was at the game i saw steve tisch go into the locker room afterwards

02:29so monday morning um steve tisch and john mara had a phone conversation okay uh john from the office

02:36steve tisch from i believe probably west coast i would imagine uh they had a phone conversation

02:42and um at in that conversation it was agreed upon that they were going to and needed to make a change

02:48at the head coach position not at the general manager position but at the head coach position

02:53after that um phone conversation um john mara and uh called joe shane into his office and said this is

03:02what we are doing you're staying brian dayball is leaving and mike kafka is going to be the interim

03:09head coach that was a decision made by ownership not by joe shane okay so anyone who says joe shane

03:14won a power struggle here uh joe shane did not fire brian dayball the owners fired brian dayball

03:20after that um john mara and you know with steve tisch on the line called in brian dayball and informed

03:28him they were making a move and he was no longer going to be the giants head coach this is the harsh

03:32reality of it and then the giants had a regularly scheduled 1 p.m team meeting um at that team

03:40meeting joe shane led the meeting and announced to the team that there was a coaching change and

03:47brian dayball was no longer the head coach and mike kafka was now the interim head coach mike kafka

03:52then spoke to the team for the first time as the head coach um from what i understand he um uh said

03:59it was a very difficult day uh that he was there because of brian dayball many of the players were

04:04there because of brian dayball bring them in and coaching them and things like that they had to move

04:09on there was a great opportunity in these last seven games and they had to stick together

04:13brian dayball was not in that team meeting did not address the team as a group uh he was in the

04:18locker room afterwards um talking quietly privately individually with some players yes including

04:25jackson dart um and away we go that's the way it went down
