00:00Thanks, Dish. Good evening, Trinidad and Tobago. I hope you guys had a great day today.
00:05Now, let me tell you what happened today. Locally heavy rainfall associated with isolated thunderstorms affected primarily western coastal Trinidad,
00:15with isolated street flooding reported in northwest Trinidad.
00:20Now, here's what else happened. The Met Office indicated that southern Tobago may experience drought conditions by the end of
00:28June 2026,
00:29with dry spells also affecting parts of Tobago and northeastern Trinidad.
00:35Impacts could include drier vegetation, lower soil moisture, increased wildfire risk, and reduced water availability.
00:44These conditions may persist as a strengthening El Nino is expected to bring less rainfall and warmer temperatures later in
00:532026.
00:54Moving on now to what we can expect tonight.
00:56Tonight, tonight will be initially settled, with a gradual increase in partly cloudy spells and showers as the night progresses,
01:03with minimum temperatures at 24 degrees in Trinidad and 25 in Tobago.
01:08And tomorrow, you will be like Rihanna, standing under those umbrellas, because according to the Met Office,
01:16it will be a generally wet day, with periods of rainfall becoming scattered to widespread at times.
01:23There is also a medium chance of thunderstorm activity.
01:26Now, you should look out for gusty winds that may accompany heavier showers and street flooding.
01:32Tomorrow's daytime temperatures will be 30 degrees in both islands.
01:37And for our two favorite days of the week, it looks like the holiday will bring partly cloudy, hazy, and
01:44breezy conditions,
01:45with patches of showers favoring the morning period, with thunderstorm possible, especially over southern areas of Trinidad.
01:52And Saturday will give us a mix of sunshine and scattered showers that can become heavy at times.
01:59So, for the rest of the week, there will be no cobwebs on your umbrellas, because you will be using
02:04them pretty often.
02:06Tower Sun Times now in Trinidad, sunrise is at 544 and 540 in Tobago, and sunset at 629 at Trinidad
02:13and 627 in Tobago.
02:15And with tomorrow being the day before the holiday, some of you are eyeing down that beach pump.
02:21Seas will be moderate with waves, 2 meters to 2.5 meters in open waters, and near 1 meter, occasionally
02:27choppy and sheltered areas.
02:29It's now time for your Tide Times.
02:41With the passing of tropical waves over the island from time to time, here's a quick did-you-know.
02:47Did you know that a tropical wave can take about 5 to 10 days to travel from the coast of
02:52Africa to the Caribbean?
02:54Let me explain.
02:55These weather systems are carried westward by the trade winds, crossing thousands of miles of the Atlantic Ocean along the
03:03way.
03:03And as they move, tropical waves can gather moisture, produce clusters of showers and thunderstorms,
03:09and sometimes become more organized, developing into tropical storms or hurricanes before reaching the region.
03:17Well, now you know.
03:18Now, to some international news.
03:21A tropical storm, Arthur, formed Wednesday off the Gulf Coast of Texas, becoming the first named storm of the Atlantic
03:29hurricane season.
03:31The storm developed near the middle of the Texas coast, less than 50 miles from Port O'Connor.
03:37Arthur is expected to turn inland before weakening and eventually dissipating early Thursday.
03:44Well, that's all for weather tonight.
