00:00So Kyle Shanahan and this offense trying to get it started tomorrow game three of the World Series gets started as the scene shifts to Dodger Stadium in L.A.
00:09Vlad Guerrero Jr. leading the Blue Jays against Shohei Otani and the Dodgers.
00:13The series tied at a game apiece.
00:16Game three of the World Series tomorrow right here on Fox.
00:19And why is it selective when you're going to dial up a big play against somebody like Houston?
00:24Because you have Will Anderson and Daniil Hunter on the edges.
00:28So you can't drop back and hold that ball and air it out down the field unless you've kind of set it up or you feel it's the right time to do it.
00:36Because these edge rushers are so good.
00:38So you're going to have a very limited opportunity of times to stretch the field.
00:41And they missed out on a huge one on that last play.
00:45I'm now third and six.
00:46Jennings in motion for San Francisco.
00:52Here comes pressure.
00:54Flags are down.
00:55And this play stopped before it started.
00:58Amidst the din, nobody could really hear the whistles right away.
01:03So that play kept going for a beat.
01:06Ball start.
01:07Number 75 offense.
01:08Five-yard penalty.
01:10So down.
01:11Connor Colby, the rookie from Iowa with Ben Bartsch on the IR.
01:16Connor Colby's moved into that left guard starting spot.
01:18Just a little rock back for the former Hawkeye.
01:30Third down and 11.
01:31Pressure coming.
01:47Anderson may have gotten an early start.
01:49Yeah, he's got a free play.
01:50Jones just running away from Will Anderson who brings him down.
01:53But Anderson had that early step to try to get to the quarterback.
01:56Well, that shows you how tough this defense is.
02:01Even with a free play, you can't get it off.
02:05Offside.
02:05Jumping into the neutral zone.
02:06Number 51 defense.
02:08Five-yard penalty.
02:09We play.
02:10Third down.
02:10Second time today for Will Anderson.
02:12Yeah.
02:13The last thing you need is Will Anderson getting an extra step on you.
02:17And that's going against Trent Williams.
02:18He's like, hey, how about that?
02:21You know, he knows he's offsides.
02:23He runs past the flag.
02:25And he still turns around and runs down Mac Jones.
02:27And, by the way, was in between, blocked by two different 49ers.
02:31He's a machine.
02:33He is quite the talent.
02:37He had a lot to say about that Texans offense when we chatted with him this week.
02:42And he is firmly in C.J. Stroud's corner.
02:44Not loyal to being rewarded today.
02:47Third down and six.
02:49Jones steps away.
02:51Mac Jones is going to run.
02:52He's got the first down across midfield.
02:55Really good decision by Mac Jones.
02:57An excellent take and a first down.
03:00Well, the biggest thing is, is look what they do.
03:02Right now they put five guys there.
03:04So, now it's one-on-one the entire time.
03:06And here he comes.
03:07I mean, that is just great design right there.
03:10Get those five guys on the field.
03:11Single everybody up.
03:13And then run a loop with Will Anderson because he has the speed to get there.
03:20First down and ten.
03:22It's McCaffrey.
03:23Nice jump cut.
03:24Wasn't much room.
03:25He hopped around Togiai and picks up yardage to the 46, a three-yard gain.
03:33And again, really, just this offense being able to stay on the field for a little bit
03:37and let that defense catch the breath.
03:40You know, it's just been, it's 30 minutes and 38 seconds time of possession
03:44to 10 minutes and 35 seconds.
03:46So, 20 minutes more that defense has been on the field than their offense.
03:50Seventh play of this San Francisco drive.
03:58Kendrick Bourne is the motion man.
04:00And a draw play to McCaffrey and room to run.
04:03First down.
04:04Right up the middle.
04:05Well-designed and well-blocked draw for McCaffrey.
04:09Yeah, I think the great thing they do is they get guys to that second level.
04:14And whether it's a combination block and a climb or the releases by tight ends
04:18and wide receivers coming inside.
04:20On that last snap, it's Jake Tonjes that kind of comes around the outside,
04:24gets up, gets onto that linebacker level, and really kind of cleans things out.
04:27What a great shot by our crew of that opening that McCaffrey had to run through.
04:34Has to be the biggest hole of the day for a 49er running back.
04:41Jones with time.
04:43And with time, able to find Kittle sliding down at the Houston 21-yard line.
04:49A pickup of 16 and a first down.
04:52And, again, a nice feel.
04:55And these guys are still developing that chemistry.
04:58But, again, George Kittle is going to slide in.
05:02There he goes into the inside.
05:03Watch him at the top of this route.
05:04Kind of sees that zone coverage squeezing.
05:06Sees where Mac Jones gets it on his back shoulder.
05:09So, a really nice job where you're not running through into that coverage in the zone.
05:16It's McCaffrey.
05:18And not much on that right side.
05:20Maybe a yard to the 19.
05:26By far the most sustained 49er drive of the day.
05:31Play.
05:32I mean, it's not a lot to compare to.
05:34Play number 10 coming up.
05:44Second down.
05:47San Francisco in the red zone now.
05:50Jones in trouble.
05:56Down he goes.
05:58All that pressure.
05:59And it's the first sack of the day for Houston.
06:03Derek Barnett with his first of the year.
06:07Yeah, this is going to be a coverage sack.
06:09Because plenty of time to get rid of this football if there's an option to go to.
06:13So, credit the secondary.
06:14It looks like maybe you got a chance at the top.
06:18Christian McCaffrey.
06:20If you had that timing, that's where the ball needed to go right there.
06:23You can see Mac Jones is looking left the whole time.
06:26Derek Barnett.
06:27There was a great chip block by the tight end before he released.
06:30Turned him over to Trent Williams.
06:32But that ball had to come out much quicker.
06:35Third and 17.
06:37Longest third down of the day.
06:38Jones looking for the end zone.
06:40It is caught by Jawan Jennings at the one.
06:49Enormous play in this game.
06:5026 and it's first to goal.
06:52We saw the catch by George Kittle for the touchdown at the end of the half.
06:56Here's another tremendous catch by Jawan Jennings.
07:00And we saw that big drop.
07:01It's so cool when you see a guy come back and make a play later on after having an opportunity
07:07and having to go through his fingers.
07:1112th play of this drive.
07:15Play action.
07:17Looking.
07:18It's caught.
07:20Jake Tonjes.
07:22National tight end day has two in the end zone for San Francisco.
07:30And the Niners very much alive deep in the heart of Texas.
07:34Yeah.
07:34Great job right here.
07:35Now they got to get the two-point play right.
07:37You don't know when you're going to get another drive like that.
07:39So you got to make this a two-possession game with eight-point drives on both of them.
07:45But again, the hard sell.
07:47You really have over the top to George Kittle a little bit easier.
07:51But he goes with Jake Tonjes on the nice release.
07:55Will Anderson almost able to make that play.
07:57But here's a huge snap right here to get this to a one-possession game with eight points.
08:06Hughes checked the fullback in motion.
08:10Rolling right.
08:11Throwing wide open to Marcus Robinson.
08:15It's an eight-point game in Houston.
08:21San Francisco trying to get up off the map.
08:25And they're within eight late in the third.
08:28What a tremendous release by the Marcus Robinson on this route.
08:31He gets the corner to turn inside and then breaks to the outside.
08:34But it's all on the release and the first steps in that route.
08:39Just a great job.
08:40He's going to come inside and then go out.
08:43But watch him turn the corner right there.
08:46Look at the separation he creates against Derek Stingley, who's a very good corner.
08:57Can't say enough about the Juwan Jennings catch.
08:59He's at the bottom of your screen.
09:01I mean, it's defended really well by the Houston Texans.
09:04And, again, it's Matt Jones.
09:07How about the confidence he has in his guys going there?
09:10And then Jake Tonjes with the great catch for the touchdown.
09:14But you still got to get that two-point play because it's been a tough afternoon.
09:19Are you really going to be able to have two possessions?
09:21Who knows?
09:23But, boy, what a great job on that two-point play because now it's just an eight-point game.
09:27Well, and for Kyle Shanahan's offense, before that drive, one for five on third down.
09:31And they were two for two, including that third and 17 to Juwan Jennings.
09:36That whole drive changed everything in this game for San Francisco.
09:4212-play, 76-yard drive, took 7-0-1 off the clock.
09:47And does that long drive, defense gets rested,
09:51can they come out and match the emotion of the offense?
09:53From the five-yard line, Damian Pierce.
09:55With a brief opening that closed at the 31-yard line.
10:03Well, next Sunday on Fox, Justin Jefferson and the Vikings take on Jared Goff
10:07and the Lions in an NFC North showdown.
10:09Others will see the Broncos face these Texans.
10:13The Jaguars meet the Raiders or other regional action.
10:15Check local listings for the game in your area.
10:17Broncos defense, Texans defense next week in Houston.
10:21First to three might win.
10:23Yeah, that's going to be a fun one.
10:2731-yard line and Lakin Tomlinson, rotation continuing at left guard.
10:32He's back in there.
10:34It's been an every series rotation and a big opening on that left side for Woody Marks
10:38and the rookie from USC.
10:40Out to the 45-yard line.
10:4214-yard burst for Marks.
10:45Great job right here.
10:46Watch this block by British Brooks down inside.
10:48The old trap wham play.
10:49Gets a pancake on a big defensive tackle.
10:53Way to go, British Brooks.
10:56Houston's longest run of the day takes us to the end of quarter number three.
11:02We got a ball game headed to the fourth.
11:04Houston and San Francisco trading blows in the third.
11:08Eight-point game on Fox.
11:09Back at NRG Stadium in Houston.
11:15The fourth quarter about to begin.
11:17The 49ers have closed the gap to a one-score game as we start this fourth quarter.
11:24But C.J. Stroud and company with first down and 10 at their own 45.
11:28Alert, alert, alert, alert, alert.
11:29Three hundred seventeen yards passing.
11:31First three quarters for Stroud.
11:35Play action.
11:36Stroud with time.
11:38Good protection right through the hands of Jaden Higgins.
11:42He was open at the 41 of San Francisco.
11:44Renardo Green lurking in the area for San Francisco.
11:47Yeah, he needs to make this catch.
11:49This is thrown well on time.
11:50A little bit high.
11:51But for Jaden Higgins, go up and get that ball just a little bit late on it.
11:56C.J.'s probably going to say that's on him.
11:58Can't really tell what that reaction means.
12:01Disappointed.
12:02Yes.
12:10Second and 10.
12:11It's a draw play to Woody Marks.
12:14And Marks back to midfield.
12:16An example of a play right there, Darrell, that Houston's run successfully all day,
12:21but getting back on schedule after an errant pass or a no gain on first down.
12:26Yeah, one of the things that Allison got from the coaches coming out at halftime,
12:29one of the big things is those second and longs getting converted into third and manageable.
12:33And to your point, Kevin, you mentioned the run game.
12:35And just what a factor that has been playing here during the course of the game.
12:39We saw the big run here to open this drive.
12:41And now we see these ones.
12:42We're almost to 100 yards here in the game rushing.
12:45So they haven't leaned on it.
12:46But, boy, it has really been a nice changeup.
12:48Four yards per carry on the 24 rushing attempts today for Houston.
12:52Third and five.
12:56Niners rush four.
12:58Stroud going to run.
13:00Room.
13:00First down.
13:01At the 42, C.J. Stroud scrambles for eight.
13:06And this is one of the other areas against Seattle.
13:11And maybe it was Seattle's pressure up the middle that flushed him out the back.
13:15But he was always retreating.
13:17Today, he has been climbing that pocket.
13:19And when he's decided to run the football, he's already moving forward.
13:22And he's been very effective with his scrambles here today.
13:26And, Darrell, another San Francisco injury on the defensive line.
13:30Sam Okuwanu down on the turf.
13:3613.53 to go in the fourth.
13:39And another injury timeout in Houston.
13:44Disappointing for Sam Okuwanu.
13:45Barely able to put pressure on that left leg as he's being tended to on the sidelines.
13:50Yeah, you'll watch him roll his left ankle coming from the right side here.
13:53Watch that ankle roll on the plant right here.
13:56Just wiggles a little bit right there.
13:58So, he was really, really hobbling as he made his way towards the 10th.
14:03For Robert Sala, you're looking around.
14:06I know it's the next man up mentality.
14:07But you're running out of guys in there who are not banged up.
14:12First down and 10 at the 42.
14:16Here's Marks.
14:17Nice little shoulder duck to get some space.
14:21That's a really underrated move to get six yards for Woody Marks.
14:28Watch this little move that Kevin's talking about.
14:35It's going to be Travis Gibson right there as he goes by.
14:38You can see him turn that shoulder, get real small as he gets past him.
14:42And he's not a big guy to begin with.
14:45Listed at 5'10".
14:47Second and four.
14:53Marks again.
14:54This time he'll bounce to the outside.
14:56Look at the real estate.
14:57Marks down the sideline and out of bounds inside the 15.
15:00Brown and Stout finally close him out.
15:05But a 23-yard pickup for Woody Marks.
15:09Yeah, I watch these two guys right here.
15:12One of those guys has to be your edge setter, your defender.
15:14They both pull themselves all the way inside.
15:17That's easy for Woody Marks to break contain on the outside.
15:20A drive that began on the Houston 31-yard line.
15:28And once again, the Texans down the field.
15:32But this has been their bugaboo.
15:33One for four today in the red zone.
15:34Three, two, three, three, two.
15:40Marks again.
15:41And swallowed up in the backfield.
15:44Outstanding play by Malik Mustafa.
15:50Yeah, really good timing.
15:53Coming from back here, from depth.
15:55Just really good timing as he comes in.
15:58Tough to get a blocker on somebody when they come from that depth with that timing.
16:04And Malik Mustafa, who began the year on the PUP list, came back October 12th.
16:15Making that play in the backfield.
16:19Second and 12.
16:22Stroud with a flag down behind the play.
16:25This will be a hole.
16:26Gibson got held on the edge.
16:29Stroud out of bounds near the 10.
16:30But Titus Howard working against Travis Gibson.
16:32Gibson yanked his jersey right in front of our referee.
16:55There were three fouls.
16:56Holding number 71 in the offense.
16:59That penalty's declined.
17:01Holding number 75 in the offense.
17:03Illegal contact number 48 in the defense.
17:05The fouls offset the previous five.
17:08Replay.
17:08Second down.
17:09You don't hear too often there are three fouls on the play.
17:16So three fouls.
17:17And we start it all over again.
17:20Second down and 12 at the 15.
17:22Houston trying to close out a one-score game.
17:26It's something they've really struggled to do this year, Daryl.
17:29Yeah.
17:29And on the flip side of that, something that San Francisco has been able to find a way to do.
17:34But an impressive drive here by this Texans offense again.
17:37Just all afternoon, it's been long, time-consuming drives.
17:42Stroud.
17:42Oh.
17:43Unmolested into the backfield.
17:44It's stout.
17:45Somehow Stroud gets away and gets rid of it to Woody Marks.
17:48And Marks upended with progress at the 20-yard line.
17:52Upton Stout almost took the snap for C.J. Stroud.
17:57It's a loss of five on the play.
18:00That's tremendous hustle by Upton Stout, too, because he's got an opportunity to get the sack.
18:06Watch 20.
18:06Another really well-timed.
18:09It really mirrors C.J. Stroud well.
18:11He slips his grasp, but he doesn't give up on the play.
18:13He keeps fighting through, and he's actually the guy that's able to make the tackle on Woody Marks as he's trying to break it.
18:23So now the Houston Texans with a third and 17.
18:27Nine of 13 on third today.
18:29And Dario Gunbowale with the carry.
18:32And Gunbowale down to the 12-yard line.
18:35But you're going to be very happy if you're Houston taking three points in this scenario to push it from 8 to 11.
18:42Yeah, I know what's been frustrating for them early in the game when they've gotten into the red zone and had to settle for the field goal.
18:48But the biggest thing right now is just making it a two-possession game.
18:52And that's exactly what this field goal here is going to do.
18:55So a really nice drive to put the team in a position here to get up by 11.
19:00Three for three today is Fairbairn.
19:02This from 30.
19:11And the comeback road for the 49ers a little tougher with three on the board for the Texans.
19:199.41 to go in the fourth.
19:2111-point lead for Houston.
19:25Texans with six scoring drives today.
19:28Every scoring drive has been nine plays or greater.
19:31Five of the six have been ten plays or more.
19:35Nick Kaley's offense is clicking today.
19:37Yeah, impressive.
19:39Especially the criticism that they had to go through early in the week and to stay focused and stay committed.
19:45And it is going to take a while.
19:46You know, we talked to Robert Sala about this defense and how long it took him to build this in San Francisco when he first got there in 2017.
19:53He said, by 2019, we really felt like we had ownership of what we had built and what we've created.
19:59This is year one for Coach Kaley and his group.
20:02And you pointed out, that's one thing that Will Anderson continually tells C.J. Stroud.
20:06This is the first year of you guys being in a brand new offense.
20:09Hang in there.
20:10Keep grinding at it.
20:11And you'll start to figure this thing out.
20:14There's Sky Moore on the return.
20:17And Moore across the 30.
20:19And down at the 32-yard line.
20:22For Mack Jones, it was kind of a rough start to this game.
20:24Not anything he did, but just the pressure that he had to face early in this game.
20:28Yeah, it was very impressive coming off the edges from that Houston Texans defense.
20:33But you hang in there.
20:34You get the big touchdown to George Kittle right at the end of the half.
20:37And then you find Jake Tonjes.
20:39And then you also get the two-point conversion.
20:42And so, at that point, San Francisco, after being dominated all afternoon, had closed it down to a one-possession game.
20:50Now down 11 as they go to work from the 32.
20:54It's McCaffrey.
21:01Nowhere to go.
21:03He looked up and he saw black and red uniforms everywhere.
21:09Aziz Alshire and Jalen Petrie combined.
21:12You send the motion out.
21:13When you bring George Kittle and Kyle Juszczyk to the same spot, that's smart by this defense to move up there.
21:20I thought it was going to be a double pass.
21:22That was thrown backwards by Mack Jones.
21:24I thought they were going to fake that little, you know, screen bubble on the outside.
21:29And Christian McCaffrey was going to raise up and throw a ball down the field to either George Kittle or Kyle Juszczyk.
21:37Second and 15.
21:40Jones steps away from pressure.
21:42And it's Juszczyk with the catch.
21:44But nowhere to go from there as he's buried at the 30-yard line.
21:48We'll get a game break from Carissa Thompson.
21:49Yes, we will, Kevin.
21:50Thank you so much.
21:51Eagles up 24-13.
21:52Jalen Hurts going to throw his third touchdown of the day, his second to Dallas Goddard.
21:57And appropriately enough, on National Tight Ends Day, Eagles lead this one 31-13 over the Giants.
22:02Kevin?
22:04Tight ends are having a big day.
22:06Goddard there.
22:07Tongess and Kittle with touchdowns here.
22:11Matt Burke's defense trying to get off the field here on third down and 11.
22:16Jones and a little too tall for Jordan Watkins making his NFL debut today.
22:31The rookie from Ole Miss couldn't climb the ladder to get that one.
22:34Fourth down and on comes the punt team for San Francisco.
22:38Yeah, I don't know if you can throw the ball better by Mack Jones because you've got to get it up and over the top of everybody.
22:43Maybe a little bit high there.
22:44But you've got to come down with that.
22:45In this situation, on that third down, you've got to be able to convert and keep possession.
22:50And today, more so it seems than any, you really notice the absence of a guy like Ricky Pearsall at that wide receiver position.
22:59Yeah.
23:00Nobody's really threatening anybody down the field from the wide receiver spot for San Francisco.
23:07Noll away for and make the fair catch near the 29-yard line.
23:117.58 remaining in this fourth quarter.
23:15And what a bounce-back day for the Texans' young quarterback.
23:18Well, for everybody that watched that Monday night game against Seattle, I mean, it doesn't even look like the same guy.
23:23And I think a lot of it is just his demeanor.
23:26You know, post-play, he's playing with a tremendous amount of confidence.
23:29He's in a rhythm.
23:30They've stayed on schedule.
23:32You know, you can talk to people about this.
23:34And we had a great conversation with him on Friday, and he went through everything.
23:38But it's a completely different thing to bring that out on the field and do it.
23:40And that was the one thing that we heard, right?
23:42Hey, we had a great week of practice going into Seattle,
23:45but it never transferred from the practice field to game day, and it has today.
23:52On first and ten, and the run game has helped him.
23:56That's Chubb.
23:57Works out towards the 33-yard line.
23:59And one of the things C.J. Stroud talked about two weeks ago was coming off the bye before the Seattle game.
24:04He did a self-scout.
24:06He sat down and broke down everything that had happened the first quarter of the season.
24:09And the local media here in Houston asked him about it.
24:12He said, eh, I'm not really going to say anything.
24:13So, of course, when we're chatting with him, I say, well, why don't you tell us all the things you wouldn't tell them?
24:17He would not.
24:18But he did say a couple of things that he said.
24:20I wanted to get better mechanically on the run.
24:24Make some of the easier throws.
24:26The main things he worked on.
24:27Just the mechanics of all of, really, a lot of the basic stuff.
24:31Yeah.
24:31Do the simple things better.
24:33And that is something that he has definitely done here this afternoon.
24:36Second and five.
24:37Quick toss and catch.
24:39Catch made for the first down out near the 39-yard line.
24:44Jaden Higgins with the catch.
24:45And some young receivers having a lot more fun today, Allison, than they did Monday night.
24:49Yeah.
24:50And C.J. Stroud was excited to see this group play.
24:52You've got the trio of Iowa State players and Noel Higgins and Hutchinson.
24:56He said they kind of have a chemistry we're working, though, to develop ours.
25:00But I just told them, let's go out, play catch, give me some clean body language, I'll give you an accurate ball, we'll roll from there.
25:06But let's just have fun.
25:08And fun is exactly what I've seen when they have been on the sidelines, guys.
25:11They are loose.
25:12They are smiling.
25:13They are joking.
25:14You can see how much fun they're having taking advantage of this opportunity to play today.
25:18Yeah, that was really the message from the top down with the Texans, D'Amico Ryans.
25:23And it trickled down to his quarterback because he said, don't overcomplicate it.
25:27Let's just go play catch.
25:28And that's exactly what D'Amico told us when we were talking about him.
25:31He said, it's simple.
25:32Let's play fast.
25:33Let's not stress it.
25:35Well, there hasn't been a lot of stress today for this Houston offense after a very stressful Monday night in Seattle.
25:40Yeah, I really like the way that both of these staffs do the video presentations.
25:43So the one that D'Amico Ryans wanted to give his team, he pulled about 40 plays out.
25:47And this is why we didn't win the game.
25:49These are not winning football plays.
25:51And then at the end of the week, you come full circle and you show the good stuff that they did.
25:55Here's what we're capable of doing.
25:57We've got to do more of these plays because this is winning football.
26:02From the eye, the handoff.
26:05A little burst forward for Chubb.
26:07I tell you, Kevin, it's amazing the power of a cheap t-shirt or a little video clip to inspire these NFL players.
26:15It's amazing, you know, how excited they get for things like that.
26:19As a former NFL player, so if Allison and I were to walk into the meeting room next week with a cheap t-shirt,
26:25would we still be able to get you excited?
26:28It's a cheap t-shirt that has meaning to it because it's something you can only get from within your team by achieving something.
26:34So there would have to have been something that I would have achieved that you would have created and printed on the t-shirt.
26:38That makes sense.
26:40Okay.
26:40I'll think if there's anything you've achieved that is t-shirt worthy for next week.
26:44Quick toss on the edge.
26:46Well defended by San Francisco.
26:48Third and three.
26:50No gain on the play.
26:51Upton Stout making another nice play.
26:54The rookie on the rookie to turn this one over to the punt team for Houston.
26:59Yeah, and I think a lot of upside there.
27:01There's zero right there.
27:02And the one thing, and we see it from a lot of young guys, Terryon Arnold up in Detroit, you know,
27:08a young guy that's playing that secondary position a little bit handsy.
27:10You get some critical penalties from time to time in extended drive.
27:14That's one of the areas that Upton has to get better at.
27:17But, boy, he's been a really solid player for this Niners team.
27:22First punt of the day for Tommy Townsend.
27:26His warm-up was a long time ago.
27:30Sky Moore is the deep man.
27:32And Moore will let this one bounce.
27:35May not have been the best decision.
27:37Inside the five and downed at the one by Tremont Smith.
27:48I mean, your only other option is to field it, right?
27:51And you're going to field it on the six.
27:53And you're going to come to the sideline.
27:55Your coach is going to go, what are you doing here?
27:56Exactly.
27:57Yeah, it's a no-win situation down there for Sky Moore.
28:00Tommy Townsend practicing all day and not getting a chance to punt until right then.
28:06These guys have gotten so good kicking in.
28:08It's unbelievable how much better they are
28:10and how many times we see people downed inside the five-yard line after a punt.
28:13So, Mack Jones looking for a 99-yard drive to close this gap.
28:20From the end zone, incomplete.
28:22He felt that pocket collapsing.
28:25Jones ended up on his backside and it's second down and ten.
28:28I think one of the things about this defense right now,
28:32and it's easier for Houston because they are generating so much pressure
28:35with just those four, is where do you go with the football?
28:39And that's why Mack Jones is tapping his feet, resetting, going through his progression.
28:43And then when you go to check it down, look at the tight coverage on a check down.
28:46I mean, usually a check down is open and you've got to turn and make yardage after it.
28:51Even the check downs are covered.
28:53Jones to Kendrick Bourne.
28:55Oh, what a hit leveled by M.J. Stewart, but Bourne hangs on
28:59and to the 18 for a first down.
29:04Yeah, these guys had a nice little spurt there.
29:07They had a couple of games back-to-back where Kendrick Bourne was virtually uncoverable.
29:11And, again, a really nice time throw there by Mack Jones.
29:14Jones with pressure coming, finds Jennings,
29:17and Jennings down across the 25 of the 26, clock running 3.38
29:22and counting to go in the fourth.
29:25Second down and two.
29:32Four-man pressure.
29:34Jones sitting down over the middle is Demarcus Robinson.
29:37That's a first down to the 32, a pickup of six.
29:41And, again, we're talking about a two-possession game here now,
29:44so field goal and touchdown to get that tie with a two-point conversion.
29:47And we watched Eddie Pinheiro pregame, you know, from 61 with a little bit of room to spare,
29:52so they've got to get out around the 43.
29:55Quick toss to McCaffrey over the middle.
29:57Nice move.
29:58Steps through a tackle.
29:59Trying to break the Stingley tackle who just got him around the ankles
30:02and down at the 41.
30:05Pickup of 27 after two broken tackles by McCaffrey.
30:09Yeah, they've done a heck of a job on Christian McCaffrey here today,
30:13but he's just too good to keep under control the entire game.
30:17It's just, again, it's that little check down.
30:19It's something you can take a four-yard catch and turn it into an explosive play.
30:24And, again, he is outstanding after the catch, you know,
30:29after he gets the football in his hand.
30:31You know, he's forced 46 missed tackles this year coming into today's game,
30:34which was the most in the NFL.
30:36A couple more on that run, which pushed him over 5,000 career receiving yards.
30:45Stingley still down after that tackle of McCaffrey.
30:51Very good to see the talented Pro Bowl corner headed to the sideline.
30:57Had his 13th career interception a week ago to Stingley.
31:05Jalen Smith just back off the injured list with the hamstring injury.
31:09He comes in to take over for Stingley.
31:13And San Francisco's moved it from their one to the Houston 41 in five plays.
31:21Four-man pressure.
31:25Mack Jones down the sideline to Bourne off the edge of his fingers.
31:31Kalen Bullock is there on the coverage for Houston.
31:35Just a little bit too much on that one from Mack Jones.
31:46I mean, right at the extension by Kendrick Bourne.
31:49Tough catch, but we've seen a couple great ones here today.
31:54Second down and 10 at the 41.
31:57Jones has to check it short to McCaffrey.
32:08McCaffrey on a beeline and, oh, my, blasted by Toto.
32:11At the end of that play, McCaffrey springs right back up with a first down at the 30.
32:18Can they get one more play before the two-minute warning?
32:20Hustling to do that with 2-0-8 to play in the fourth.
32:28Everybody's set.
32:31Four-man pressure.
32:33Jones down the sideline for the end zone.
32:36Leaping interception by Kamari Lasseter.
32:39Lasseter's second interception of the year might just seal it for the Houston Texans.
32:59Working against Juwan Jennings.
33:02The leaping interception.
33:04It's a touchback for Houston and an 11-point lead with 2 to play.
33:12Really nice job by Kamari Lasseter in coverage.
33:16It's a double move.
33:17Not a great double move, but a double move no less.
33:19And he does not get fooled by it.
33:21Gets in phase.
33:22Perfect position.
33:23Makes the interception.
33:26And you're going to see it's not going to be at the 20.
33:28It's going to be one cheek down right there with contact.
33:31So, not only does one knee equal two feet, but one cheek equals two feet.
33:36And one cheek equals the one-yard line for the Houston Texans.
33:41And the San Francisco hope is to force a safety and get the ball back.
33:48Still down 11.
33:50Two timeouts left for the 49ers.
33:52And C.J. Stroud just going to sneak this.
33:59His previous two sneaks today have gotten him first down.
34:02This one will not.
34:04And the timeout used by San Francisco.
34:11Yeah.
34:12Will Anderson, number 51, coming off that edge again.
34:15Goes inside.
34:15Watch the hand come up.
34:17And, you know, was that forcible contact to the head?
34:21You know, I think it's one of those ones we've seen during the course of the season
34:25where we've seen something like that called.
34:28But remember, you know, with the turnover, everything is under review.
34:36No flag coming out.
34:38Will Anderson, who has given Colton McKibbitt's fits all day.
34:45He gives everybody fits.
34:46Yes, he does.
34:50Second and eight.
34:52Hand off for Chubb.
34:55And Chubb out to the six.
34:59Pickup of three.
35:01Third and five.
35:03And the 49ers use their final timeout.
35:06What a nice job here.
35:07It's that run game that you mentioned earlier, Kevin.
35:10You know, you build confidence with it during the course of the game.
35:12And, you know, you get put in the position where it's late
35:15and you're trying to come off your own one-yard line.
35:17You get the quarterback sneak to give you a little bit of breathing room.
35:19And then you get a nice positive run there.
35:21So, you know, it's one of those underappreciated things
35:24that we've seen here this afternoon.
35:28Look at that dominance from a yardage standpoint.
35:33474 yards of total offense.
35:34Remember, 2-54 against Seattle Monday night.
35:42First down here, and the Texans could run it out.
35:46Third down and five.
35:49It's a handoff to Chubb, and Chubb's not going anywhere.
35:51Tatum Bethune on the tackle.
35:56And the Texans will have to punt this ball away to San Francisco.
36:01So, another opportunity for the 49ers, but the hill clearly very steep.
36:06And for D'Amico Ryans, pretty impressive work on a short week
36:19to bounce back from what was an ugly night in Seattle.
36:24Yeah.
36:24Really all facets for his team, but they came back in this one,
36:28put up a terrific offensive performance,
36:32and the timeout used by D'Amico before the punt.
36:36This is a key stretch for these Texans.
36:38Assuming they win today, they move to 3-4.
36:41Got the Broncos next week on Fox.
36:43You've got the Jaguars.
36:45Then the trip to the Titans before the Bills.
36:47And then a big showdown with the Colts.
36:49At least they'd like to make it a big showdown with the Colts in Week 13.
36:53Yeah.
36:54Well, if they continue to build off of this game,
36:56and we've talked about the injuries by the 49ers
36:59or with the 49ers throughout the game,
37:02but this has been a dominant performance offensively.
37:04The game has been close.
37:06That'll be one thing I'm sure that D'Amico Ryans will talk to his team about
37:10is offensively we've got to get better in the red zone,
37:13in the scoring zone, one for five today.
37:16They've got to be better early on.
37:17And that made this game much closer than it needed to be.
37:21But I just think that this entire staff did a tremendous job
37:24of getting all their players refocused after that game at Seattle on a short week.
37:34Townsend to punt.
37:37Sky Moore the deep man.
37:40It'll bounce at the Houston 49 and head out of bounds.
37:44So for San Francisco, they need 11 points to tie.
37:50So you need a field goal, you need a touchdown, you need a two-point conversion.
37:54You have no timeouts, and you have 53 seconds to get all that done.
38:01You're starting at midfield, and you have to have the two scores.
38:05You've got to wonder at what point Kyle Shanahan says,
38:07let's send out the field goal unit.
38:09If you're going to do that early, if you've got an opportunity,
38:13you're going to have to get an onside kick.
38:14Yeah, I was going to say that the hardest thing about this whole scenario
38:17is converting the onside kick.
38:19I mean, that is the really hard one.
38:20How you get your two possessions and how you score
38:23is going to be determined as your drive progresses.
38:25That's first down, pressure comes, and they get to Mac Jones.
38:31Will Anderson's been in his face all day,
38:35and finally he and Daniil Hunter seal the deal on the Niner quarterback.
38:48Clock continuing to run under 30 seconds.
38:53Second down and 20.
38:55Jones to the sideline.
38:58Not enough room over there for Demarcus Robinson.
39:02And the two former Alabama teammates meet in an embrace.
39:08Mac Jones and Will Anderson.
39:12He's just been a beast the entire day, and that's with a chip.
39:18He's not happy about those running back chips.
39:20No, he is not.
39:21He expressed that in no uncertain terms.
39:23Unfortunately, when you become Will Anderson,
39:26you're going to get a lot of running back chips, some tight end chips.
39:31Third down and 20.
39:36Quick toss and out of bounds.
39:38First catch for Jordan Watkins in his career.
39:41The rookie active for the first time this season,
39:45and that's his first career catch.
39:49Fourth down for Kyle Shanahan's squad.
39:53Maybe the final play of this ballgame.
39:55And this is the luxury that this team has.
40:13Those four guys can just wreak havoc.
40:15Here's Jones, Bourne on the sideline.
40:19The tackle short of the first down,
40:21and the Houston Texans are going to bounce back from a loss in Seattle on Monday night
40:27and knock off the San Francisco 49ers here in Houston.
40:31Yeah, this is one of the things that you'll see on film is the physicality of this team,
40:38and it's Jalen Peacher again.
40:39That is textbook tackling.
40:44And D'Amico Ryans.
40:46I don't think he's fired up with this defense that he's got to work with right now.
40:49Yeah, I mean, he's grateful, you know, for Kyle Shanahan and for Robert Sala,
40:53but you heard Allison Williams at the beginning of the game.
40:56And, you know, as much respect as he has for those two gentlemen right there
40:59of giving him the opportunity, he really wants to come out and beat them.
41:03And, you know, that's the competitive nature of these guys.
41:06And it's been awesome to watch him turn what was a disappointment last Monday night
41:10into what happened here this afternoon.
41:13And the Houston Texans.
41:15A big exhale from D'Amico Ryans as he walks off the sideline to meet his old friends.
41:21First time since 2009 that the 49ers have fallen to the Houston Texans.
41:28For Allison Williams, for Daryl Johnston, for our entire crew, I'm Kevin Kugler.
41:32Bonus coverage now, New England and Cleveland on Fox.
41:36Two.
