00:00As the day six accelerates off the far side got room to run into the Raiders territory 40-30 high steps 20-10 gone.
00:09How about it Bam Knight taking it all the way 67 yard scamper.
00:21That man got juice let's put it that way and you saw the juice back when he was with the New York Jets you see the juice anytime he touches the ball.
00:30Zonovan Bam Knight has next level ability great block by Josiah DeGuara and then Bam Knight does the rest he outruns the safety outruns the linebackers outruns the referee all you need to do is get the ball in Zonovan Knight's hands and he will make it happen and we talk about finishing speed Chad Rylan out for the extra point and SRP touchdowns for teachers gives teacher grants with every Arizona Cardinals touchdown.
01:00Learn more at SOP.net slash teachers there's a reason why virtually every coach on offense says I like this guy I really like this guy Bam Knight and he just showed why and here's the issue we're fighting for 53 the issue is twofold number one with a play like this unbelievable vision speed breakaway
01:20the Cardinals might be thinking okay he might have been a guy we were going to cut and try to get him back on practice squad if we cut this guy there's another team that's looking at that breakaway speed that next level speed that's likely going to signs out of the night so he made it just a little bit more difficult for the Cardinals to cut him of course you want to make this team but in all reality you want to make any team in plays like that when you get your number called or how you make a roster.
01:45Yeah he's an undrafted guy 2022 played with the Jets the Lions nine games combined his rookie year he had a 90 yard rushing game at the end of that season
01:55had a chance to talk to him great personality great smile I said now wait a minute
02:00the nickname Bam that came from your playing days like you know Pop Warner football he said no no no he said I was four years old I was destroying toys and my family members start calling me Bam and so he said that's what I was doing to all my toys as a youngster
02:15as the kick is away and that'll be a touchback coming out to the 35 did they keep on getting him toys or do they stop giving Bam that's what I want to know yeah
02:25they got him some heavy duty toys at that point Santan Ford scoring drive presented by Santan Ford and Gilbert Santan Ford and the Arizona Cardinals we are
02:35Santan Ford three plays 93 yards 67 yards by Bam Knight and great breakaway speed but we got to go back to the blocking up front
02:46beside Aguara the veteran tight end great job sealing off the outside linebacker
02:51and then inside you saw the linemen just making a big enough gap where Bam Knight wasn't to touch
03:01and look this is a Cardinals rushing offense that has finished number two each of the last two years in yards per carry
03:08it's a Cardinals rushing offense that has finished top three top five the last couple years in explosive runs
03:14courtesy of James Conner leading the way Cardinals lead 17 10 throw into the far
03:21flat Dillon Lowby going nowhere as Vi Jones out in coverage making the tackle here's my question to you Mr. Sam
03:29Anja if you do indeed have two co RB ones James Conner and now Trey Benson I want you to answer the question when we come back
03:37do you expect to see two running back formations personnel groups with two running backs this year
03:44what might that do to defenses in 2025 Cardinals taking the lead here in the second half we get the
03:51fourth quarter when we come back the Arizona Cardinals broadcast now
03:55all right here's a look at our third quarter stats sponsored by Shields Cardinals only had 11 total yards in the first quarter
04:09have made up ground in a big way ever since Bam Knight the 67 yard touchdown run finishing off a 93 yard drive in less than a minute
04:20all part of those numbers right there and Cardinals fans remember today's that nacho ball defensive takeaway means you've earned a free bean and cheese burrow with a purchase of a 20 ounce drink tomorrow at all valley wide some burrows locations redeem online at some burrows dot com with promo code turnover great defense today means great burrows tomorrow Raiders taking over quick throw underneath
04:43caught caught and taking tacklers with him across the 45 is the Raiders receiver Justin shorter
04:51Paul you asked earlier about the two running back sets people call it pony right 20 those that two stands for running back so 20
05:01two running back zero tight ends three receivers or 21 two running backs one tight end two receivers pony
05:08Drew Petsing loves to run a lot of 20 personnel 21 22 pony
05:16but I don't see it as being very effective we talked to Jonathan again and yesterday he said as a defensive coordinator he loves seeing people come out with two running backs because those running backs aren't as great as receivers as having a receiver nor of a great
05:29blockers as having a tight end and so I expect to see it because that's what Drew Petsing likes to do but I don't think they need to run it as often
05:37but yeah I had this great question and pretty much got officially shut down by the head coach but you know I went down swinging I took one for the team
05:45and I took one of the two running back and it's with the first MVP there Sam I was curious two four be one's sincere mccormick and he is bottled up
05:51Elliott brown at the tackle on the previous play Anthony Goodlow get in there and he's flexing after making that stop
05:59He's a big time home run hitting type of running back out of UTSA.
06:07That's what they got been impressed about this defense for the Cardinals.
06:10They're slowing down the run game.
06:12At least the explosive play.
06:13You saw the early leakage.
06:15I don't see as much in the second half.
06:18All right.
06:18Third and obvious pass.
06:19Third and ten.
06:20Keevanai and Xavier Thomas off the near side.
06:22Coming off the edge.
06:23He has a sack and a fumble recovery.
06:25Instead, Keon Bars gets in and tears down Cam Miller, the quarterback,
06:31for the takedown, beating Alex Kappa, the right guard.
06:34Well, that's four rushing is one.
06:36Alex Kappa's a veteran in the NFL.
06:37Played about a decade.
06:39You saw the outside linebackers going up the field.
06:41But Keon Bars knows he has a two-way go.
06:42You see that inside hand just pressing back.
06:44That's a beautiful hand placement by Keon Bars.
06:47It's called a long arm.
06:49You get that hand on the inside breastplate of the offensive lineman,
06:52and they have nothing they can do.
06:53You long arm them, then you get off and get the sack.
06:56Brilliant and beautiful play by Bars.
06:58Fourth and 14.
06:59The punt is away.
07:01Nate McCollum signals for a fair catch.
07:07We do have a flag.
07:09More often than not on the punt, you're apt to get a flag.
07:14At least we have tonight.
07:17Don Willard taking over for Scott Novak in the second half as our white hat.
07:23And that will go against the Raiders.
07:32Personal foul.
07:33Face mask.
07:34Kicking team number 28.
07:36That 15-yard penalty will be added to the end of the kick.
07:39First down.
07:40Timeout.
07:42There you go.
07:43We'll see if the Cardinals can hang on to this lead
07:45and finish the preseason with a win.
07:53Gred already in regular season form.
07:56How about it?
07:57Cardinals lead 17-10.
08:00Earlier, Sam.
08:01Paul Calvisi.
08:01Danny Surek down on the sideline.
08:03I mentioned, I give you my list of the first-time potential pro bowlers.
08:08I threw out there Garrett Williams, Paris Johnson Jr.,
08:10Mack Wilson Sr., Marvin Harrison Jr.
08:12Either one of the specialists right now.
08:16Here's my other list I've come up with this week.
08:18The elevator list.
08:19All right.
08:19Guys who are pushing the button to go to the next level.
08:22As the Cardinals have first and 10 at their own 31 with McCollum in motion.
08:29And Tuna under center, Di Mercado.
08:31Straight ahead.
08:33Trying to push the pile off the right side.
08:36Tip Ryman.
08:37Would you agree with Tip Ryman based on what we have seen?
08:40Just the physicality and the blocking of Tip Ryman as a tight end.
08:45Dante Stills I would throw in there.
08:47And then Max Melton, the corner.
08:49Guys, go into that next level.
08:51I would definitely agree, specifically with Tip Ryman.
08:54I got a chance not just to watch his film,
08:56but to talk to him as a human over the last few days and really weeks.
09:00And he's got this hunger about the game of football.
09:03He talks about some of his keywords being reliable, being consistent, dependable.
09:07And he lives that out both on and off the field.
09:10Gain a two, second down and eight.
09:11Di Mercado first down and more as he pinballs off a man into Raiders territory.
09:18How about that?
09:18Gain a 17, maybe 18 by Amari Di Mercado.
09:22You love to see what's happening now.
09:24You're starting to see the offensive line and tight ends wear on the defense.
09:28They're just putting their bodies on defenders.
09:31And all of a sudden, a gap is open here or a gap is open there.
09:34And a big play is able to be made.
09:37Sometimes you've run the same play over and over and over again.
09:39And the defense makes one mistake, and that's all you need for a big play.
09:43All right, Cardinals into Raiders territory, leading 17-10.
09:48Clayton Toome.
09:51Behind the third-team offensive line.
09:53Now he's going to check it down in the flat.
09:54Di Mercado, great hands.
09:56Lowers the pads, lowers the boom on a Raiders DB near the 43-yard line.
10:06The other guys I put on the list, Rabbit, Deidre and Taylor Demerson I threw on there,
10:12Elijah Higgins.
10:13Is Di Mercado bringing the physicality?
10:18I just think, Rabbit, after a year playing behind Buda Baker and Jalen Thompson,
10:23there's a reason they're going to find some three-safety looks to get him on the field.
10:28Michael Carter in the pistol.
10:30Give.
10:30Justin Frye once again calling these plays,
10:33and we get an injury update with Danny Surek down at the side.
10:36About halfway through the third quarter,
10:38cornerback Jalen Jones got banged up on a play,
10:40walked off with trainers with a towel over his face,
10:43spent about five minutes in the blue medical tent
10:45before walking off with trainers to the locker room
10:47where he is now being evaluated for a concussion.
10:50All right, thank you, Danny.
10:52Interesting point, Danny.
10:54I was talking to special teams coach and assistant head coach,
10:57Jeff Rogers, and I was talking about,
10:59hey, what's the roster looking like?
11:00He said, man, we can talk about that all we want,
11:02but sometimes injuries happen.
11:03Last year, end of the preseason,
11:05they lost Elijah Jones and Christian Jones,
11:07so something to be alert for with Jalen Jones.
11:10Third and three, playing two, looking to get the ball out.
11:13Does near sideline, toe tapping.
11:15Did Nate McCollum complete the catch?
11:17He did.
11:19Nice job by the Cardinals receiver.
11:21First down, Arizona.
11:22Yeah, great job by Nate McCollum.
11:24Signed a few weeks ago, 5'9", 185 out of North Carolina,
11:27but what I love is that he's staying available for his quarterback.
11:31We haven't seen this all the second half,
11:33and we're looking like Pete Carroll's going to challenge the play.
11:36There's a first play, and there's a second play.
11:38The first play doesn't work.
11:39You have to go into this scramble drill.
11:41Stay available.
11:42Stay friendly.
11:43That's what we saw from Nate McCollum.
11:44Las Vegas is challenging the ruling field of a complete catch.
11:51Plays under review.
11:53All right.
11:54All right, the other list I had here, Sam,
11:56I know you're itching for another list, right?
11:57Cardinals trying to figure out, all right,
11:59players to watch as we get towards the regular season opener,
12:02week one at New Orleans.
12:03By the way, the Saints played today,
12:06and there's really no definitive decision yet
12:10as to their starting quarterback, Spencer Rattler and Tyler Shook,
12:13two Valley guys.
12:14Neither one grabbed the job.
12:17Neither one made the decision for new head coach,
12:20Callum Moore, as we get another look.
12:22That looks good to me, Paul.
12:25I see, ooh, that left foot might have lifted just a little bit.
12:29Hold on.
12:31Let's see.
12:32Did he have two feet down when he had control?
12:36I like it.
12:37I like it, coach.
12:39I like it.
12:39I see a toe down.
12:41I see control.
12:42I don't think that can be overturned.
12:47Don Willard took a look.
12:50He's got the call.
12:51After review, the ruling on the field stands.
12:54It was a catch.
12:55Las Vegas is charged.
12:56Their first time out of the half.
12:58Lost one challenge.
13:01Cardinals hype trains.
13:03These guys get a lot of hype based on what we saw in Cardinals camp.
13:06Trey Benson.
13:07Trey Benson.
13:09Will Johnson.
13:10We talked a lot about Will Johnson.
13:12And, look, has there been a rookie learning curve?
13:16Did he have a PI against KC?
13:18Did he have a defensive holding?
13:20There was also that interception of Kyler Murray, a fantastic play in the red and white practice.
13:26Will Johnson, I can just tell you a lot of the veterans, are buzzing about.
13:29First down and 10.
13:30Cardinals trying to build on a 17-10 lead.
13:33Set up a screen to the left.
13:34Nothing doing.
13:35Michael Carter taking down behind the line of scrimmage.
13:40Trevin Maai making that tackle.
13:43Yeah, I don't like that play call.
13:45Real quick.
13:45I know we're going to get back to your list, Paul.
13:47But that play call, that's the time to take a shot.
13:50Don't do a screen on that play.
13:51You've been running the ball effectively, play action, and then take a shot down the field.
13:56That was a play action, but then went to that short screen.
13:59You've been running screens all preseason long, all season last year.
14:04Chunk plays, chunk plays, chunk plays.
14:06Think bigger.
14:07All right, so a loss of six.
14:09Double tight ends to the right.
14:11And to keep it on the ground.
14:13Can Michael Carter get the corner flag?
14:15Flies as he steps out of bounds.
14:18Right along the line of scrimmage.
14:20Holy offense, number 67, 10-yard penalty, feet second down.
14:29That's the rookie right tackle, Jeremiah Byers.
14:33All right, speaking of the right side of the offensive line, Isaiah Adams, I have in the hype train list.
14:38He's had a phenomenal August.
14:41Sam, I'll segue into this list anyway.
14:43No, I got to answer the list, though, right?
14:47I do have a little bit of beef.
14:48Okay, go ahead.
14:48Yep, I like Isaiah Adams.
14:51I like Trey McBride.
14:52Yep.
14:53Will Johnson, there might be a learning curve.
14:56I was on the Will Johnson hype train.
14:58I still am on the Will Johnson hype train.
15:00But this guy is top ten talent, still a second-round pick.
15:03He could be elite in the NFL.
15:06But the technique has to be a bit better, not so sloppy.
15:09All right, second down in Tucson here, second and 26, D.J. Dallas off tackle right, digging across the 45 near the 42.
15:18Well, if I'm premature with a hype train on Will Johnson, or maybe if you're pumping the brakes on that one a little bit, how about Jordan Birch?
15:28A little bit under the radar, third-round pick.
15:32But let me tell you, what we have seen out of Jordan Birch in limited action, he has been really productive and disruptive.
15:39Well, here's what I'll say regarding Will Johnson and Jordan Birch, two rookies.
15:45I'm very excited about their potential.
15:48But the hype train can't just be based off of preseason.
15:50You need to see them produce when the bright lights are on.
15:53That is a valid point, third and 21.
15:55Is Toon going to run it?
15:57He's going to tuck it.
15:58He's loose at the 30, 25.
16:00He has the first down and gets out of bounds.
16:03Clayton Toon, you know what?
16:06He noticed that the defense had their back to him, and he took off running and picked up the first down.
16:13One thing I love about Clayton Toon's game is that there's this sense of people get who he is.
16:18They know he's going to run the ball if things break down.
16:20So he steps up in the pocket.
16:22You're going to see at the very end of this play, Nate McCollum has a chance to knock out one of these defenders, and he doesn't.
16:28At the very end, you see them, he kind of backs away.
16:31That could have been a 15-yard penalty.
16:32That's a little thing, but a big deal.
16:35Great job by Nate McCollum not taking an illegal blindside block on that play.
16:41Game of 25 on third and 21.
16:42DJ Dallas running the ball now.
16:45Takes it down near the 15-yard line.
16:49I got a list for you.
16:50Let it rip.
16:51What are the top five things Ron Wolfley will do in retirement?
16:57That's great.
16:58That is a good one.
16:59I think, number one, he's got some kids, some high schoolers who he wants to coach.
17:03Sure.
17:03A lot of high school football in his future, no doubt about it.
17:05I think he'll still be watching a lot of football.
17:08Oh, yeah.
17:09He'll be griping and grousing about the blood sport.
17:11There's no doubt about it.
17:12I think he'll still have his great descriptors.
17:14There's rectangles and squares and triangles and octagons.
17:20Put triple pepperoni sandwiches on that list.
17:22That's Tune on second down and six.
17:27And he's going to throw underneath Tejon Palmer.
17:31Guess what?
17:31He's got the first down across the 10 near the 8-yard line.
17:35Move the sticks.
17:36Cardinals on the move.
17:37Another guy trying to make a name for himself.
17:39Tejon Palmer, sixth-round pick last year.
17:41Clayton Tune's looking at the flat, flat side available.
17:43Tejon Palmer gets himself available at a UAB.
17:47He's a big-time receiver as far as balls down the field.
17:51But now you're seeing him work more of those intermediate routes.
17:55Less than six minutes to go in the preseason.
18:01Clayton Tune under center.
18:02D.J. Dallas, seven yards deep.
18:09And he lunges forward with a second effort.
18:13So what will Wolfley be doing?
18:16Our friend, Ron Wolfley, what will he be doing?
18:18Top five things in retirement.
18:19I got to hear it from you.
18:21Well, we know his affinity for the compound.
18:24You know, he's going to be enjoying his couch this football season.
18:29There's no doubt about that.
18:30Will he be responding to text messages?
18:33That's the thing I heard.
18:34He didn't respond to texts or calls.
18:36I texted him literally a couple weeks ago.
18:38Didn't hear nothing.
18:39Solomon first said, hey, I love you.
18:41Yeah, Wolf is, it's usually all or nothing, right?
18:44So in retirement, I mean, he's off the grid at this point.
18:47Tune looking into the end zone.
18:50Find time, throwing near the pylon, dropped.
18:53At the feet of Tejal Palmer, he just couldn't corral it.
18:57Yeah, and that's one that, it needs to be a better pass.
18:59He's flat out, point blank, period.
19:01But Tejal Palmer, he's got to bring that one in, right?
19:05You want to try and make a name for yourself, make a roster.
19:08You got to be able to bring that one in.
19:09Even if it's not a perfect pass, make your quarterback right.
19:12You see him, he's focused, he's dialed in.
19:14It's a little bit low, but make the catch and then get into the end zone.
19:18Don't try to make the catch and then jump and make the catch first.
19:21The end zone will find you.
19:23Here we go.
19:24The third and goal.
19:26Cardinals at the Raiders 6.
19:29Raiders showing blitz.
19:32Tune to the air.
19:33Finds the pocket and down he goes.
19:36Coming in and making the sack.
19:40Andre Carter to the second.
19:41Yeah, and I see the field goal team coming on.
19:45I don't love it, right?
19:46It's the third preseason game, last opportunity.
19:49I understand it.
19:50You don't want guys to get injured.
19:52You want to get your guys, your field goals, special teams, guys, reps.
19:55But I'd love to see Clayton Tune and Tejon Palmer and some of these offensive linemen in a fourth and gotta have it situation.
20:03Instead, it's Chad Rylan, 30-yard field goal attempt.
20:06The man who created quite a buzz in Denver a week ago, hitting a 72-yarder in warm-ups in elevation.
20:17And that is right between the uprights.
20:21Cigna Healthcare proud to sponsor the Kicks for Kids program for the 16th year.
20:25For each successful Cardinals field goal, Cigna Healthcare donates to Arizona Cardinals Foundation,
20:30benefiting the Excel Center for Children and Adults with Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities.
20:3520-10, Chad Rylan connects on the 30-yard field goal.
20:41We have just over four minutes to go on the preseason.
20:49Let's check out our cool play of the game, sponsored by Circle K.
20:55Bam, night 67 yards for a Cardinals offense that since the first quarter has rushed for 206 yards.
21:05How about that, and that's the biggest play of them all.
21:07Yeah, great job again, not just by Bam, but by DeGuarra and also Tejon Palmer on that crack block,
21:15on that inside block to that safety, just like you drew it up.
21:18Cardinals with a field goal, 14-play, 58-yard drive, 30-yard field goal as Rylan now puts that deep into the end zone for a touch 35.
21:30And the Santan Ford scoring drive presented by Santan Ford and Gilbert.
21:34Santan Ford and the Arizona Cardinals, we are Santan Ford.
21:38What about that, an eight-and-a-half-minute drive as the Cardinals take control here in the fourth quarter, now lead by 10.
21:46The other list I'll throw out there, Sam, because I know you just can't get enough of it, would be the under-the-radar list.
21:52You know what the kids say, low-key.
21:55Do they still say low-key?
21:57Jonah Williams, work with me, Sam.
21:59Jonah Williams, right tackle, ahead of the curve, and his return from the knee injury.
22:05Look, Paulie Pencilneck never played offensive line, but I can tell you this.
22:10When Jonah Williams was at right tackle a year ago, the Cardinals were much better as an offense.
22:16Correct, and you go back to his time in Cincinnati with the Bengals, I mean, he's an outstanding player.
22:22The issue was the injury last season, and he is ahead of the curve, recovering from that injury.
22:26They saw him work out a little bit in OTAs that got them excited.
22:30So I'm excited for him at that right tackle position for Kyler Murray.
22:34Back to the air, Cam Miller underneath, hits his big tight end, Albert Oku-e-Bunam.
22:426'5", 258, year number six for him.
22:44The other guy I put on the under-radar list, and your point is well taken about, look,
22:49I put some of the rookies on there, Will Johnson, Jordan Birch, like, break out and hype train.
22:55Regular season football is not preseason football.
22:59I get it, and you can easily get false positives in August that don't carry over to September.
23:04But here's a proven guy who just three years ago had a 1,200-yard receiving season, Zay Jones.
23:11Now, last year, missed the first six games, just never got in sync, never was a big part of the offense.
23:17You saw him in the final two games.
23:19He was really productive last year.
23:21Nearly picked off.
23:22Jumping the route on Cam Miller for the Cardinals.
23:26Darren Hall, not a surprise, had won nearly two interceptions in the preseason opener,
23:33and he nearly closed the preseason with another one.
23:36Hey, Paul, put him on one of your lists.
23:38I don't care.
23:38Pick a list.
23:39Put him on.
23:39Get your fan out.
23:40Write it down.
23:41Because Darren Hall's a playmaker.
23:43He had that interception in week one, nearly had a second one.
23:45He's just always around the ball, not afraid to take a risk to make a list.
23:51Wow.
23:52There you go.
23:53Sam Acho officially in regular season form.
23:56As Miller will jump pass as the pocket was collapsing.
24:00Gets it to the receiver, Tommy Malat.
24:03But you're right.
24:06On the under-the-radar, Darren Hall belongs on that list.
24:10Now we're talking.
24:11Now we're talking.
24:11Let's make these lists malleable.
24:13Let's make them adjustable.
24:15Just don't use words I can't define as you throw underneath.
24:20See, that's part of the problem was in the past, I always used to like to joke
24:25that when Passion Wolf around here, I knew I was the smartest guy in the booth.
24:29Then Sam Acho shows up and he keeps Shipley.
24:31That's no longer the case.
24:32Two-minute warning coming up.
24:42Bam Knight there.
24:43Five carries, 83 yards, 67-yard touchdown scamper.
24:48But along with Clayton, too, doing a good job of keeping that Raiders defense honest.
24:52Michael Carter has Splash Knight, has he not, Sam?
24:55Yes, he has a big playability.
24:56He has the ability to take what would be a five-yard loss and make it to a 15-yard gain.
25:01He's shifty, different than Bam Knight.
25:05Bam Knight more is kind of explosive.
25:07But Michael Carter has got this sense of juke and shiftiness to him that makes him different than other backs.
25:12Yeah, he was bottled up, was able to escape, had a big chunk run earlier in the game.
25:18DJ Dallas, the running back, with Toon under center.
25:22From midfield, and DJ Dallas is buried in the backfield, a loss of two.
25:30Hey, here's a look at our Cardinals QB comparison, sponsored by Emergency Air.
25:35Official heating, cooling, and pointy partner of the Arizona Cardinals.
25:37Time out of the half.
25:38Time out of the half.
25:38Let's make it.
25:40Tough deal for Clayton Toon.
25:41Has one career start in year three.
25:44Jacoby Brissett has 53 career starts.
25:48He's played in more than 80 games.
25:50He's in year 10.
25:51Jacoby Brissett has looked excellent.
25:53There's no doubt about it.
25:54He has three touchdown passes in five possessions this preseason.
25:58Of course, Kyla Murray, Cardinals franchise quarterback, entering year seven.
26:07I think everyone is looking forward to Kyla's connection with Marvin Harrison Jr.
26:12There's no doubt it has advanced here in the preseason.
26:17It has grown.
26:18But it's not just him.
26:19It's Michael Wilson.
26:20As you see Brissett next to offensive coordinator Drew Petsing,
26:22Michael Wilson has that chance as well.
26:25And as Jacoby Brissett is one of the, yes, backup quarterbacks,
26:29but he's also a mentor to guys like Clayton Toon and Kyla Murray.
26:35It's second and 11.
26:37D.J. Dowd still the running back.
26:39Justin Frye still calling the plays.
26:41The offensive line coach.
26:43And they're content just to keep this on the ground.
26:49Raiders do exercise the timeout.
26:50Yeah, if you're looking at how this Cardinals offense elevates,
26:55look, one of the top three, top five run teams in the NFL
27:00based on whatever analytic or metric you want to use.
27:03Now, where they are in the bottom fourth of offenses,
27:06we're in the chunk throws.
27:08And so, with that in mind,
27:11if you can get the downfield passing game elevated,
27:15namely, Michael Wilson, Marvin Harrison, Jr.
27:19And tonight's impact player,
27:22Kyla Murray, sponsored by your Valley Genesis retailers.
27:28What do you expect out of Kyla?
27:30It is year seven.
27:31We have seen twice in his career.
27:33He's been a legit MVP candidate midway through campaigns.
27:36What about 2025?
27:38Well, the hope would be consistency.
27:40Not just early season success, but late season finishing.
27:44That's my hope and goal for Kyla Murray.
27:46And I think that's what a guy like Jacoby Brissett provides.
27:50He lets you know how to train in the regular season
27:53to stay strong for a late season playoff push,
27:56how to prepare mentally, physically, emotionally.
27:58That's the benefit of having a 10-year vent in the room.
28:02Two-minute warning.
28:04Cardinals looking at fourth down and 10.
28:06When we come back to State Farm Stadium.
28:16Well, there you go.
28:17Big Red, hashtag more you can do.
28:20He might get cut from that job.
28:22If it's a preseason, I'm just saying, Big Red, no offense.
28:24But, hey, this ain't looking good, Big Red.
28:26You got to zoom in a little bit, right?
28:29All right.
28:29You got it on Gillick.
28:30Okay.
28:31Okay.
28:31Is it still Big Red?
28:32Because if so, you make the squad.
28:34You know, the beak gets in the way of the whole viewfinder thing.
28:38It's tough.
28:39Tommy Mallott in the beak.
28:40Speaking of Wolfe, might have to rip off one of his gray lines.
28:49Whenever a colonel would make a physical play, I loved his line, you know,
28:53you mess with a bird, you get the beak.
28:56As the flag flies.
28:57Speaking of Wolfe and Pash, this is officially the witching hour.
29:02Final two minutes of the final preseason game.
29:09I think...
29:10During the return, holding, receiving team number 18.
29:14It's half the distance to the goal line.
29:16First down.
29:17One thing that needs to be said is, in this last preseason game,
29:22some of these players on the field or on the sideline
29:24will not get a chance to play football ever again.
29:28And so, I just remember being one of those guys, like, man,
29:32not sure what was going to happen.
29:34That's why it's good to live in the moment.
29:36Make the most of every rep, of every play,
29:39because you never know when it's going to be your last.
29:42This Raiders offense has been bottled up in the second half
29:45as Cam Miller running for his life, gets the ball away into the far flat,
29:48makes a man miss, and out of bounds.
29:52There's the backup tight end, Albert Uquayobunam.
29:56And before that play, the Raiders in the second half
29:59had 62 total yards and four first downs.
30:03Sam, you know, I had this conversation with AQ Shipley,
30:06the new radio analyst, last week in the radio booth,
30:10and he said, look, there were years I went into the final preseason game,
30:12and my biggest decision was what flavor sunflower seeds I was going to have.
30:18And there were other years I went into the final preseason game,
30:20and I didn't know if I was going to be employed in 48 hours.
30:25I mean, you've lived that as well, have you not?
30:27I have.
30:27My penultimate year in the NFL, I guess it was my last year in the NFL,
30:32I spent training camp with the Buffalo Bills,
30:34and in my mind it felt like I knew it was towards the end.
30:39And I remember playing in that game, the last game in the fourth quarter,
30:43and I remember missing a sack that I knew I could have made.
30:46And a few days later, I got that phone call
30:48and ended up getting released on my birthday.
30:51And for whatever reason, I did feel a sense of peace
30:54because I knew there was more to come.
30:56Second down and ten.
30:57And the receiver makes a catch on a yard shy of the first down,
31:03Marquez Calloway.
31:05And even to that point, I think we all say,
31:08oh, no, it's the end, it's the end for all these guys.
31:10But these guys are going to go on to do bigger and better things,
31:13the ones who don't make it on this team or another team.
31:16It's not like their life ends at football.
31:18There's so much more that they will do in their futures.
31:22That's the exciting part about the end of the three seasons.
31:25There's Cam Mellon, he's zipping one down the middle,
31:28almost picked off by Jones right there in coverage.
31:31I mean, no better example than a Greg Dorch.
31:35Six teams in his first three years.
31:38And look at the traction.
31:40He's now the longest-tenured Cardinals receiver, Greg Dorch.
31:44And when you interview him, and I have multiple times,
31:48he said, that's part of my story.
31:50That's part of my journey.
31:51That's what helped turn me into the player I am today.
31:55Fourth down and two.
31:57And Millers trying to gauge if he can run for it.
32:01He gets out of bounds and he picks up the first down.
32:05And to your point, Paul, people run from adversity oftentimes,
32:08but adversity produces character.
32:12And that character can produce hope.
32:13So whether you get cut or get injured or things don't go your way in life,
32:20don't run from that adversity.
32:22Embrace it because it can make you the person that you are meant to be.
32:25And look, in year three, with Monty and JG restacking, resetting this roster, throw and a big hit.
32:36As the Raiders tight end is dumped.
32:38I mean, there are going to be players, legit NFL players, cut from this Cardinals final 53 who will latch on elsewhere.
32:49That's how much better the talent level is at this point.
32:54Three drafts, 28 draft picks.
32:56In fact, that's going to be a first.
33:00It's going to be the first time Monty Austin Ford, the GM, and Jonathan Gannon, the head coach,
33:04have had to cut one of their draft picks of the Arizona Cardinals.
33:07Correct.
33:08And some of those names.
33:10And Elijah Jones is a guy who's made a case for himself to stay on this team.
33:14A guy they drafted last year but was injured.
33:16Darren Hall's made a case for himself to find whether this team or another team, these guys will land on their feet.
33:25Third down and five.
33:26Grab from behind and thrown down.
33:27Xavier Thomas is there.
33:30Patrick Jenkins helps clean him up.
33:33At X-T, nearly the very last snap is stating his case.
33:39There's another name, a guy who's been on the roster bubble who's trying to make a name for himself.
33:43Fourth down and 11.
33:47Less than 30 seconds to play.
33:49And over the middle and a flag flies.
33:54Jamie Robinson in coverage against the Raiders tight end.
34:01Talking about X-T, not just him but a bunch of those guys are tired on that defensive line.
34:05You're playing all these reps.
34:07Pass interference.
34:08Defense number 26.
34:10That penalty's decline resulting in play.
34:12First out.
34:13Yeah, that's a good point.
34:14In the regular season, there's much more of a rotation, isn't there?
34:17Not here.
34:17Not here.
34:18You said you wanted reps.
34:18Hey, here you go.
34:20It's time to catch your breath and catch that second win.
34:25All right, so.
34:26Previous plays under review.
34:29Early indications are that was not a catch.
34:32And again, this is where you get help from up above in the booth.
34:42And at first glance, it does not appear that he had control of that one all the way through the catch.
34:48And that was a quick determination.
34:51After review, the pass is incomplete.
34:53However, there was pass interference on the defense.
34:56That penalty's accepted.
34:57Result of the play in the first down.
34:58I will say this.
35:02And we're going to see an incomplete pass here, pass interference.
35:06But it's not how you start.
35:07It's how you finish.
35:08The Raiders are playing to the echo of the whistle.
35:12That means you get an opportunity to do it as well.
35:14To get a sack.
35:16To get an interception.
35:17To know that this is an obvious must-score situation for them.
35:20They're not going for a field goal.
35:21They're trying to go score a touchdown to simulate this situation.
35:25So now's the time to make the play with a win.
35:28Winning play.
35:28Interception.
35:29Sack fumble.
35:30Tick.
35:32Raiders out of timeouts.
35:3624 lonely seconds left in the preseason.
35:41And we are set to play.
35:49Arna's going to rush for her.
35:52As Cam Miller goes deep downfield, down the seam as his man at the 25,
35:58Shedrick Jackson.
36:00By the way, he's a great nephew of Bo Jackson.
36:03How about that for a little factoid?
36:057, 6, they clock it with 6 on the clock.
36:117, 6, they're going to have more weapons on offense.
36:14They think they have solidified the interior offense.
36:17They're going to have more weapons on offense.
36:18They think they have solidified the interior offense.
36:20They're going to have a win-loss record, but there's also what we think we know about this Cardinals team.
36:25As you see the replay here.
36:27They're going to have a win-loss record, but there's no doubt they're going to be much more stout along the defensive front seven.
36:34They're going to have more weapons on offense.
36:36They think they have solidified the interior offensive line with the development of Isaiah Adams.
36:44Throw into the end zone and the final play of the game.
36:46It's out the back of the end zone.
36:48And that'll do it.
36:50That'll do it for the game.
36:52That'll do it for the preseason.
36:54That's the end of the game.
36:55Xavier Thomas, a little slow getting up near the 35-yard line.
37:00Jonathan Gannon shaking hands with Pete Carroll.
37:03Cardinals win 20-10 to close out the preseason.
37:07They go 2-1 in the three games.
37:11And a lot of players on the bubble stating their case tonight.
37:15Look, if you were playing in this game, you were playing for a reason.
37:18You were playing for a roster spot.
37:21And there were a lot of guys who balled out.
37:23A lot of guys are going to make it tough on Monte Ossipour and Jonathan Gannon
37:27to come up with a final 53, which is due on Tuesday, the 26th, by 1 p.m. Arizona time.
37:36And we'll see James Conner.
37:38Can't wait to see him run in the regular season.
37:42This Cardinals offense with Kyla Murray.
37:48Danny Serec down to the sideline.
37:51And we'll go to her momentarily.
37:53As the Cardinals and Raiders.
37:56Could you ever really tell if a team is truly regular season ready based on games in August?
38:02You're shaking your head.
38:03Yeah, it's hard to evaluate based off of the preseason.
38:07But there are some points that you can look at and say, man, this we can build off of.
38:12All right, Danny Serec, take it away.
38:14Playing your most efficient preseason game.
38:16Not a turnover.
38:1747 rushing yards.
38:18A passing touchdown.
38:19How did you settle into your game tonight?
38:23Just stay true to the game plan.
38:25You know, trust the training that I've had throughout the week.
38:27Trust what the coaches have been teaching me.
38:28And trust the guys around me.
38:30And then just kind of let it fall into place.
38:33Final 53-man rosters will be official Tuesday.
38:36What did you show all 32 teams tonight?
38:40You know, I just tried to go out there and compete every time I was on the field.
38:43Just, you know, play smart, clean football.
38:47And just, you know, like I said, just go out and compete every time I was out there.
38:50Clayton, congrats on the win.
38:51Appreciate the time.
38:52Thank you, Paul.
38:54All right, thank you, Danny.
38:55Appreciate that.
38:56Hey, tonight's stats, sponsored by Shields.
38:59And you take a look at the game stats right there.
39:03Cardinals rushing for over 200 yards, 269 total yards.
39:09Of course, the one big turnover that the Cardinals cashed in,
39:12the strip sack by George Birch, a recovery by Xavier Thomas.
39:16And in terms of penalties, the Cardinals with a relatively clean game,
39:20a relatively clean preseason, with the exception of a few DBs in Denver.
39:26Other than that, there are some hard decisions to be made.
39:31And we will get some answers on Tuesday as the Cardinals track towards week one
39:35and the season opener on the road at New Orleans.
39:38I want to thank everyone involved with the telecast tonight.
39:41I want to thank you for watching Cardinals football
39:43on the Arizona Cardinals Broadcast Network.
39:46Once again, our final score tonight, Cardinals 20, Raiders 10.
39:50For Sam Ancho and Danny Sarek, I'm Paul Calvisi.
39:53Next stop, the regular season.
39:55This has been an exclusive presentation of the Arizona Cardinals football club.
