00:00And the Eagles looking at a second down and two.
00:03Right back to the ground and Dillon first down.
00:05And once again driving ahead down inside the 10-yard line.
00:10It's going to be a first and goal for Philadelphia as Cincinnati uses another timeout.
00:16How about that jump cut by A.J. Dillon?
00:19Watch the big man. He's behind right here.
00:22He's going to go whoop.
00:23I mean there's an unblocked defender right there.
00:26And Dillon's got a little bit more wiggle than people think.
00:30When you have that body type people think it's just a plow forward guy.
00:36He can catch the ball and he's got better movement skills than people recognize.
00:41That's a heck of a run.
00:42That's a really good sign for an Eagles offense that would love to be able to get good production from Dillon and Shipley.
00:50And not have to have Saquon Barkley.
00:52That guy right there carried the ball as much as he did last year.
00:58They've got a first and goal now.
01:00Cincinnati with one timeout left.
01:03Back to Dillon.
01:04This time a little bit more friction on the way.
01:08Cincinnati will use their final timeout.
01:10Dillon got it down just inside the 7.
01:12A.J. Dillon spent that period of time in Green Bay.
01:20Became a pillar of the community in the state of Wisconsin.
01:23I said to him yesterday, you were on like senator or congressman track in Wisconsin for the amount of time he spent out in the community.
01:31I'll tell you what, if he gets the opportunity, you're going to get to really know and love this guy in Philadelphia.
01:35Yeah, he is a very impressive young man that we spoke with yesterday.
01:41I'm thrilled that he's getting this opportunity.
01:44You know, when you see your football mortality and you think you might be done,
01:50he said, I just want to go out there tomorrow night and pretend like I'm in the back yard with my friends
01:55and just enjoy playing football.
01:56No pressure, no stress, just having fun.
02:00On second and goal, McKee sees the percussion break down immediately.
02:04He was trying to throw it out and swing it out of the backfield to Dillon,
02:08but he didn't even have time to set his feet.
02:10And that'll bring up third and goal.
02:12Boy, that's a double whammy right there, right?
02:14Let's see what happened.
02:15Nobody ends up blocking the end defender.
02:19I can't tell.
02:20I think it was Granson, 83, that just let him go.
02:23Well, I don't know if it's Johnny Wilson, 89, or Granson, 83,
02:27that was supposed to get a piece of that edge defender.
02:30But not only is it in effect to play, but it stops the clock,
02:33which is exactly what the Bengals wanted.
02:36So third and goal now.
02:39A passing situation for McKee.
02:41Firing.
02:42Got it.
02:43Touchdown.
02:45Right in the middle of the field,
02:46Anais Smith on the post for a six-yard touchdown
02:50and the lead before halftime.
02:53Maybe Tanner McKee's just this good.
03:01You know, after that second down play where, by the way,
03:04he made the right play, throwing the ball down in the ground
03:07and eating it,
03:08he has a good rapport with a lot of these guys
03:11that started that Giants game with him in Week 18.
03:14They got all the reps that week.
03:16They started that game.
03:17They won the game.
03:18And he feels very comfortable with that group.
03:22Extra point is low, but good.
03:24And a three-point lead.
03:27With a buck 33 to go here until halftime.
03:29So the Bengals actually had a safety to that side
03:35because they were worried about Johnny Wilson.
03:38Anais Smith is the middle of the three receivers.
03:41Granson runs up,
03:43and he runs the linebacker off in that zone coverage.
03:46That is exactly how you draw it up.
03:48But Granson, who's competing for the third-string tight end job,
03:52he did his job of running the linebacker off.
03:56Smith came right underneath it.
03:58McKee made the right read, and he loves it.
04:02He's 12 out of 15 for 164 yards.
04:06A passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown.
04:08And he just led a pretty 10-place 72-yard drive for the lead.
04:13And, Scott, one of those was a drop by Calcaterra,
04:16and one of those was the unblocked edge defender on the bootleg
04:20where he just threw it in the ground.
04:22By my count, McKee's had one poor thrower decision all night.
04:29Elliott with a line drive kickoff.
04:34And there's an opportunity for the return.
04:37Uh-oh.
04:37The main curtain knocked down,
04:39and we've got flags flying on the field.
04:41We'll have to wait and see.
04:43Here's their turn.
04:49Holding.
04:50Receiving team number 43.
04:52Pat did it to the goal.
04:54First down.
04:57But Tanner McKee, whose night might well be over
04:59after a half of football, does look good.
05:02Well, he got the tush-push touchdown.
05:03I don't know if that's his first one or not.
05:05I can't remember.
05:06Other than that, I love the way he trusts his guys
05:10in some of those contested catch situations.
05:13He's found Cooper a couple times there.
05:15He looked the safety off.
05:16Then he came back to Johnny Wilson.
05:19I mean, there's a reason why he was a five-star recruit,
05:21and everybody, including Nick Saban down in Alabama, wanted him.
05:27Tanner McKee, all he does is play well.
05:29You've got to be excited about him
05:30as the number two quarterback here in Philly.
05:32After the Eagles, do you think about using timeouts
05:35if he can get a stop here?
05:37Browning, in all kinds of trouble, couldn't get the screen
05:39and throws it away.
05:42They had a flag down all the way out near the 30-yard line.
05:46Holding, defense number 35.
06:00Five-yard penalty, automatic first down.
06:04That one is a killer of a penalty.
06:08Because you had the three timeouts, right?
06:11Brandon Johnson gets called for the hold,
06:13but gives him a new first down.
06:17Instead of second and ten, it's first and ten.
06:20And he's only got a minute 18 left.
06:32Browning out of the shotgun.
06:34Let's come in.
06:35Firing incomplete.
06:36Good coverage across the middle on Charlie Jones.
06:43Take a look at the hold on the play before.
06:45Left side of your screen, you're watching 35.
06:48Brandon Johnson right there.
06:53Right there.
06:56Kind of tough to tell.
06:57But obviously when, with the in-breaking route,
07:02the back judge felt like he was tugging the jersey a little bit there.
07:08Not second down.
07:12And that is, oh my, an interception that was not for Eli Ricks.
07:17He was stunned that that ball basically hit him right between the chest and the face mask.
07:24That's exactly right.
07:25That ball was thrown so poorly that it fooled Ricks, right?
07:29I mean, Ricks had good coverage,
07:32but he wasn't expecting that ball to come right to him.
07:36He was looking to break the route.
07:38Still got to make that play.
07:41And you always wonder what goes through the heads of these guys at times
07:44when they miss a play like that.
07:46Third down.
07:49If the Eagles can get a hold here, they can get the football back.
07:54And not going to be a whole lot of room to operate for Jermaine Burton.
07:58But the Eagles will take the quick timeout with 1.02 left to go.
08:02And that'll bring the Cincinnati punt unit out of the field.
08:05Smile Munden making the tackle.
08:09You know, my point on Eli Ricks, Scott, is in the moment like this,
08:14you know, he's, in his mind, battling for a starting job.
08:18I don't know.
08:18They just traded for a corner.
08:20Maybe he feels like he's battling for a roster spot
08:22now that they traded for Ja'Cory and Bennett.
08:25And he knows just how significant it would have been to make that play.
08:29And it probably would have been a pick six.
08:32You know, you don't want to have those things go through your head.
08:34But when you're a guy that's battling for a spot,
08:37those are some of the things that you think about.
08:45That's a smile with a little bit of frustration behind it.
08:49So now Rico's going to putt it away.
08:55And Anais Smith is standing back inside his own 30-yard line.
08:59He does have a little room to operate here.
09:03And two timeouts.
09:05Smith back on his heels as he made that catch.
09:09Trying to get a block on the outside.
09:10Look out.
09:12Across the 50.
09:13They tried to get a caravan down the sideline.
09:18He made it all the way down to the Bengals' 30.
09:2646 yards on a return.
09:28And this is one of the reasons why they drafted him in the fifth round.
09:32Watch.
09:33He just makes a couple guys miss right there.
09:35They almost have a wall.
09:36Another guy.
09:37That was two clean cuts by Smith.
09:40Love to block him downfield from Branson.
09:43As well as Eli Jenkins.
09:45Mack McWilliams, 22, was out there.
09:48Terrific job by Michael Clay's special teams.
09:52And now Tanner McKee and the Eagles are right back in business.
09:55Plenty of time here.
09:57Night's not over yet, Tanner.
09:59You've got 45 seconds and another scoring opportunity.
10:05Out of the shotgun.
10:07Dunking it down for Dillon.
10:08And Dillon.
10:10Tiptoes out of bounds.
10:13Out at the 20-yard line.
10:14A yard shy of a first down.
10:17That is Elijah Cooks being carted off.
10:21Boy, I don't like seeing that.
10:22If you heard me say, oh, on the last kickoff, that's because Cooks made the tackle.
10:27But I could tell that he injured something and it was bothering him.
10:31You know, as a down-the-line receiver, he's trying to show value on special teams.
10:35But as a receiver, maybe not quite the tackling technique that he'd like to have.
10:41Second down and one, McKee over the top, got it!
10:45Touchdown!
10:46A 20-yard laser from Tanner McKee, who's got him in the end zone again.
10:54He's having fun tonight.
11:06Well, I'm having fun tonight watching him.
11:08And Darius Cooper from Tarleton State.
11:11The guy had over 1,400 yards, 16 touchdowns, almost 20 yards per catch.
11:20He's making and stating his case to be a part of this football team.
11:24And Tanner McKee making everybody in Philly feel real good about their backup quarterback.
11:31Elliott back on for the extra point after Mann kicked the last one.
11:36That's 14 late points here in the half.
11:39Eagles with a 10-point lead.
11:41Let's watch Cooper's route here.
11:43Looks like it's press Mann coverage.
11:45He just beats him right off the edge.
11:50I don't know why Ivy slowed down.
11:53Ivy slows down.
11:55Cooper has that extra burst.
11:57Ran a 4-4-9 at the pro day.
12:00Kind of has more of like a running back body.
12:03But McKee, as usual, put it right on him.
12:06And McKee is probably one of the best backup quarterbacks in the NFL.
12:15I mean, Scott, have we seen him play poorly yet?
12:19No.
12:19I'm trying to remember all the preseason games the last three years.
12:23When he's gotten into the regular season against the Cowboys and the Giants last year,
12:30I mean, all he does is consistently get the job done at a very, very high level.
12:37And the kickoff will be fielded.
12:39Right well, middle of the field, out near the 30.
12:47Connor McKee found out that the trade was made that made him the de facto number two quarterback.
12:55And he found out while he was in between two workouts out in California taking a nap.
13:02Nothing wrong with taking a nap.
13:04I'm a big nap guy.
13:05He woke up and he said, his dad came to him and said, your phone's buzzing off the hook.
13:09You got to call people.
13:10Something's going on here.
13:12Dad, mom, wife, everybody said, Howie Roseman's calling you.
13:15Your agent's calling you.
13:17You'd think they would have woke him up.
13:19Southern California.
13:20I mean, that must be super important not to answer when Howie Roseman calls.
13:25I'll tell you what.
13:26He had himself a heck of a night here in a super first half as the Eagles put up 24 points.
13:35All of them in some way or another as a result of Tanner McKee.
13:40Halftime here in Lincoln Financial Field.
13:42The Eagles lead it by 10.
13:45That was a big half in a lot of ways for a number of Eagles players.
13:50And a 24-14 to lead for the Eagles as we get set for second half action.
13:56Dave Spinaro standing by with the head coach.
14:00Head coach Nick Sirianni, what jumped out at you there in that first half?
14:04Tanner McKee, 193 yards passing, two touchdowns, score.
14:08Did a really good job in the two-minute drive and then just taking completions and being efficient.
14:13You know, two-minute drive, we were able to get out of bounds, save that timeout,
14:16and then they take a go shot, which they made a great play on.
14:20So that was a really good situation of football.
14:23How beneficial to go against the Bengals number one?
14:26Yeah, it's good for us, right?
14:27It's good for all those guys playing.
14:29You know, want to see us tackle better in some of those situations.
14:33You know, but that's good work for us.
14:35And Johnny Wilson and Ia Smith, two really nice performances.
14:39Well, they've had a good camp today.
14:41And so, you know, their habits are taking over.
14:43They've worked their butts off.
14:45And they've had a good camp.
14:47It's really reflective of what we've seen in practice so far.
14:50And quarterback rotation in the second half, Coach?
14:51Yeah, we'll see how that goes.
14:53Thanks so much.
14:55All right, thank you very much, Dave.
14:56And when you look back at that first half, I think he touched on some very big points there.
15:00Some people that are looking to make an impression
15:02and have done so already over the course of camp,
15:05getting a chance to do it at real-time speed tonight.
15:08No question.
15:08I mean, the big story is obviously Tanner McKee.
15:11He was absolutely lights out there in the first half yet again.
15:15But as Coach Sirianni just talked about, it wasn't just Tanner McKee.
15:19There were a number of those young wide receivers that were also stepping up and making plays.
15:25How about Johnny Wilson?
15:26Not once but twice going up and skying for the ball.
15:31Smith had the punt return and the touchdown.
15:33And then the undrafted rookie free agent, Darius Cooper, he was out there making plays as well.
15:39Loved the back shoulder throw by Johnny Wilson.
15:42Terrific half there for not only McKee, but these young receivers as well.
15:46Johnny Wilson's number is almost gaudy at three catches for 73 yards.
15:50And when you start taking a look at what they got done over the course of that half,
15:54you talked about the relationship that Tanner McKee has had with some of those receivers
15:58that he has worked with a little bit more.
16:01And it was apparent.
16:02But especially Aniah Smith and Johnny Wilson, they were all on the roster all season last year
16:08working together, including in that game against the Giants.
16:11And so, a touchback will begin our second half.
16:22And the Eagles offense takes over.
16:26And, you know, I said that was going to be it for Tanner McKee.
16:30I was clearly wrong.
16:32And Nick Sirianni said we'll see how it goes.
16:34Well, it goes.
16:35And Tanner McKee coming right back out again.
16:37Well, I'm glad he's still out there.
16:38Tanner McKee makes my life better.
16:40It makes our life better with the way he performs in these preseason games.
16:46I think sometimes McKee might be out there.
16:48Maybe they want to see more from some of the young skill guys or the receivers.
16:53Obviously, they've seen quite a bit from Tanner.
16:56But, you know, he gives them an opportunity to get a lot more reps with Wilson and Smith
17:01and those guys out there as they're trying to determine who of those guys are going to be on this roster.
17:07And it looks like they might be missing a guy.
17:12Maybe not.
17:12I'm not sure why they were looking over at the sideline like that.
17:16Now, the first play of the second half.
17:19Going to be some second effort running.
17:22And a big-time game for Robinson.
17:26Keelan Robinson coming to the near side.
17:28Moves the sticks on the first play of the second half.
17:31That's a nice run there by Robinson.
17:33He was a fifth-round pick last year by the Jags.
17:36They cut him in the spring.
17:38And the Eagles claimed him off waivers right away.
17:43He's a returner.
17:44He's good out of the backfield.
17:46And they've just had so many good running backs at Texas.
17:49He never really got much of a chance.
17:51When you think about Bajon Robinson and Jonathan Brooks and Roshon Johnson and Jadon Blue,
17:56it's tough to get playing time at running back for the Longhorns.
17:59He is split out to the right side now as they go out of the empty backfield.
18:03McKee continuing to buy time with his feet and throws it away.
18:09And again, that's an incompletion for Tanner McKee.
18:12That's a winning play.
18:13That's the right play.
18:15He bought time.
18:16He's a better athlete than I think I thought he was.
18:18There was a little bit of leakage on the right side.
18:22He felt it.
18:23Was able to escape.
18:25He's able to get the edge when he needs to.
18:28And then thought better of trying to force it and threw it away.
18:31Because of that Dallas pass that we showed a little bit earlier,
18:34did you realize that he's the first in NFL history with two touchdown passes
18:37and five or fewer attempts?
18:40I'm not surprised by anything McKee does at this point.
18:43Cut back running for Robinson.
18:47A flag drops on the play.
18:59Holding.
19:00Office number 79.
19:02Penalty decline.
19:03Second down.
19:04Matt Pryor nodding his head.
19:05You got me.
19:10Instead of watching the hold,
19:11let's watch Drew Kendall,
19:1466,
19:14the rookie center.
19:15This is a tough block that he's being asked to pull off.
19:20He gets a little help from Kennard,
19:21but then,
19:22oh,
19:22I like the pancake and the finish by Kendall.
19:27Kennard just gave him a little bit of love there,
19:29and Kendall did the rest.
19:32Eagles really hoping he steps up as the backup center.
19:36Had an awesome,
19:37awesome career at Boston College.
19:39McKee had time,
19:40and he's got a first down.
19:41Guess who?
19:42Darius Cooper,
19:43once again,
19:44down to the Cincinnati 40.
19:47Man,
19:47I'm loving this.
19:48This guy was playing for Tarleton State last year
19:51as the Eagles go right back on the football.
19:53DJ Ivey can't cover him.
19:55DJ Ivey trying to get hands on him,
19:57and Cooper gives him the quick swim move at the line.
20:01And now the pocket breaks down,
20:04the protection breaks down,
20:07and down goes McKee.
20:09Cincinnati finally gets to the quarterback for the first time tonight
20:12as rookie Barrett Carter out of Clemson gets the sack.
20:14All right,
20:14let's see Robinson here against Carter.
20:17That's going to be who he's supposed to pick up.
20:21Actually,
20:21I take that back.
20:23That's the left tackle.
20:24Hinton is too late.
20:26Toth and Hinton need to sort out those two guys.
20:29Robinson did the job.
20:30That's on the O-line.
20:31Hinton,
20:32the rookie out of Michigan,
20:33the left tackle.
20:34He's got to stop moving backwards
20:36and stone that linebacker.
20:39Right down the middle of the field.
20:42And Kylan Granson hauls it in.
20:45Granson's one of several veteran tight ends
20:48that the Eagles brought in this offseason
20:51that have played a bunch of ball.
20:52Fourth-round pick for the Colts,
20:54played for them the last four years.
20:55They also signed Harrison Bryant,
20:57who played for the Browns and Raiders the last five years.
21:01Those guys are competing for the third
21:02and maybe fourth tight end job for the Eagles,
21:06especially now that Goddard is back.
21:08There was some debate and doubt about that in the offseason.
21:13Quick throw.
21:14Again,
21:14it is Granson,
21:15who just sat down in the middle of the coverage
21:17and hauls it in at the 38-yard line.
21:21On fourth down,
21:23you have your choices to make,
21:24and they're going to choose a long field goal attempt.
21:28Well,
21:29Jake Elliott historically
21:30has been money
21:32on field goals of 50-plus.
21:35He had,
21:36I thought,
21:37his worst year as an Eagle
21:39a year ago,
21:40but then was able to rally
21:41those last couple of playoff games.
21:44And it mattered late in the season.
21:46He was making them.
21:47This one will be a 55-yard attempt.
21:49You know he's got the leg for it.
21:55And that one
21:56kind of knuckles,
21:58and he misses it wide right.
22:00We've got a flag on the play.
22:05Offside.
22:06Defense number 38.
22:08Five-yard penalty.
22:09Go for it, Tanner.
22:10Well,
22:11I would think the Eagles would go for it here now.
22:13I think Tanner McKee
22:14putting his helmet on
22:15probably is the best clue to that.
22:17Look at the bottom of the screen.
22:20I think they just lined up
22:21in the neutral zone.
22:23I think they might have got 38 Ivy.
22:25I didn't hear the number.
22:27But this gives
22:28McKee and the Eagles
22:29a heck of a chance here.
22:31So,
22:31fourth,
22:32and
22:33let's call it
22:34two and a half.
22:36I would expect
22:38McKee to get the ball
22:39out of his hands quickly.
22:40There's a bunch set
22:41to the left.
22:42They're going to try
22:43and get some confus.
22:44Well, now Wilson goes the other way.
22:46But still,
22:46look at this bunch set
22:47and see if McKee fires it
22:49to someone
22:49who runs a quick out
22:51breaking round.
22:52Or maybe they're just
22:52doing the hard count.
22:54They do snap it.
22:56McKee throws.
22:57Got it.
22:57First down.
22:59Darius Cooper
23:00again
23:01with a big catch.
23:03Five more yards
23:04and he moves the sticks
23:05as the Eagles offense
23:06stays on the field.
23:08You can't stop
23:09Darius Cooper.
23:11You can only hope
23:11to contain him.
23:12He's going to come in
23:13from the left side.
23:14That was where
23:14the two receiver set was.
23:16And it's not a ton
23:17of separation
23:18but McKee puts it
23:20right on his hands
23:21and leads him.
23:22It's just a perfect throw.
23:24This time he has time.
23:25It throws again.
23:26Got it.
23:27That's Granson down
23:28inside the 10-yard line.
23:31They'll mark him
23:31at the 7.
23:3215 more yards.
23:34Heck of a route
23:35for Granson
23:35who's also pretty good
23:36on special teams
23:38as a tight end.
23:39He's working against
23:41that zone coverage.
23:42It's a two-deep zone, right?
23:43So he ran the out route
23:44behind the corner
23:46in the flat
23:47in front of the safety.
23:48Tenth play of the drive
23:49and it's not going anywhere.
23:51This time
23:51Keelan Robinson
23:52had no chance
23:54to get any forward
23:56momentum going
23:57as he's dropped back
23:58of the 14.
24:02All the offensive linemen
24:05looking.
24:06They're all looking
24:07under the jumbotron.
24:08They're all shaking
24:09their head.
24:10I think it was
24:11Miles Hinton,
24:12the rookie left tackle
24:13that got beat
24:14across the face there.
24:15I think those guys
24:16will have
24:16some coaching points
24:18for the big rookie
24:19when he comes off
24:20after this drive.
24:22On second down,
24:23quick throw.
24:24Once again,
24:25it's Cooper
24:25down inside the five.
24:27He just has
24:30a knack
24:31for being able
24:31to run around.
24:33He looks like
24:34a polished
24:34veteran receiver.
24:36I mean,
24:361,500 yards,
24:3776 catches,
24:3916 touchdowns,
24:41almost 20 yards
24:43a catch.
24:43I don't care
24:44what level
24:44of college football
24:46you're playing.
24:47That is super productive
24:48and he's absolutely
24:49turning some heads
24:50with this performance
24:52this evening.
24:523,185 yards
24:54in his career,
24:5514 100-yard games.
24:58On third and goal,
24:59that's where
24:59they're looking again.
25:01And off into the corner,
25:04Anaya Smith
25:04could not get
25:05any separation
25:06as McKee
25:09kind of wafted it
25:10in there.
25:10I'm going to imagine
25:11on fourth and goal
25:12from the five
25:13that they might
25:15leave the offense
25:16out on the field.
25:17I'm not sure.
25:17Oh, there's an injury.
25:18I didn't know
25:19what the whistle
25:20was blowing for,
25:20but there's a bangle
25:21down in the corner
25:22of the end zone.
25:24I didn't see a flag.
25:27That is almost
25:33out of our line
25:34of sight
25:34past the corner
25:35of the end zone.
25:39Tyson Anderson.
25:40Tyson Anderson,
25:41the safety
25:42from Toledo.
25:42So, the Eagles
25:44get a little time
25:45now with the time
25:46out on the field
25:47to make their decision.
25:52And it looks like
25:53that decision
25:53is made
25:54as McKee
25:55is coming off
25:56and they are going
25:56to take
25:56the field goal
25:57attempt.
25:59Good news for Tyson
26:00Anderson.
26:00He's back up
26:01under his own power.
26:11So, Elliott
26:11who just missed
26:12from 55
26:13and it was
26:14not a good kick.
26:17He's going to get
26:17more of a chip shot.
26:19He had a 44-yarder
26:21that he made earlier,
26:22this one from 23.
26:22And it is good.
26:35The Eagles
26:36expand their lead
26:37with now 17
26:39unanswered points
26:40and a 13-point advantage
26:42here in the third.
26:43Talked a little bit
26:44about what
26:44we might be seeing
26:46on the sidelines.
26:49Stout and Mylotta
26:50double-teaming
26:50miles hidden right now.
26:52That's a coaching point
26:53at the end of that drive
26:55that went 13 plays
26:56better than
26:57five and a half minutes
26:58and resulted
26:59in a field goal.
27:01And speaking of drives,
27:04Eagles have been
27:04turned away once tonight.
27:05Their third drive,
27:06they punted it away.
27:07They've come away
27:07with points
27:08on the other five.
27:11That is not going
27:12to make Bengals fans
27:13feel better
27:13about their defense.
27:15Their defense
27:15has been an Achilles heel
27:16of this team.
27:19Cincinnati paid
27:20a lot of money
27:21for their quarterback
27:22and wide receivers.
27:23Not so much
27:24for their defense
27:25and that's a point
27:25of contention
27:26in Cincinnati right now.
27:27But for that man,
27:28he can care less.
27:30What he's looking
27:31at right now
27:32is a terrific night
27:35of moving the team
27:35with efficiency,
27:36making good choices
27:37and good throws
27:38with the football.
27:40My phone is blowing up,
27:43Scott.
27:43Whether it's text messages
27:44or people hitting me up
27:46on Twitter X
27:47at Ross Tucker NFL,
27:49everybody loves
27:50Tanner McKee.
27:50My buddies are texting me
27:52how many games
27:52would the Eagles win
27:53with Tanner McKee.
27:55That's when you know
27:55you have a pretty good
27:56performance
27:57in the preseason.
28:01And his role
28:02is very clearly
28:03defined on this team,
28:05but after watching
28:06what you're watching
28:06tonight,
28:07should there be
28:09a bump in the road,
28:11I feel pretty confident
28:11with him coming
28:12out of the field.
28:13Well, what's interesting
28:14is he's a very different
28:15player than Jalen Hurts,
28:17right?
28:17So the one thing
28:18you don't know
28:19is he doesn't bring
28:19the running element,
28:21which is such a big part
28:22of why Hurts
28:24and the Eagles
28:24are so successful.
28:26Wait a minute,
28:26you didn't see
28:26the tush push?
28:27Yeah, no,
28:28but Hurts opens
28:29running lanes.
28:30Hurts makes it easier
28:32for the O-line
28:33and Barkley.
28:34That's not McKee's thing.
28:36That's good pressure.
28:38Coming from the outside,
28:39Ty Robinson
28:39who got home once.
28:40The other thing
28:42about Hurts
28:42that's incredibly
28:44impressive to me,
28:45two things.
28:46It really does feel
28:47like he plays his best
28:48when it matters
28:48the most,
28:49doesn't it?
28:50I mean,
28:50both Super Bowls,
28:51he's been lights out
28:53and to think he's done it,
28:54this will be his
28:55sixth play caller
28:56in his six years
28:58with the Eagles
28:59with Kevin Petula.
29:00That makes all
29:01the success
29:02that Hurts has had
29:03even more impressive.
29:05Since he became
29:06the starter,
29:06he's 45-17
29:08and has won
29:09six playoff games.
29:10and a Super Bowl MVP.
29:15Third down and six
29:16now from the 35.
29:18Browning going up top,
29:19got a man,
29:20got the ball there,
29:21but Charlie Jones
29:23couldn't haul it in
29:23down that left sideline.
29:25We're talking about
29:31Jalen Hurts,
29:32the birthday guy.
29:36One of four active
29:37quarterbacks
29:38to win a Super Bowl.
29:38We told you about
29:39the six playoff wins
29:40and that record
29:41since 2021,
29:43second best
29:43to Patrick Mahomes.
29:45And by the way,
29:46I am a believer
29:47that wins
29:49are a quarterback stat.
29:50It's obviously
29:51an imperfect
29:52quarterback stat,
29:53but so are all of them.
29:54Yards is yards
29:55after catch a lot.
29:57Interceptions,
29:57the ball might get tipped
29:59or your guy might drop it.
30:00There is no perfect stat,
30:02but I still think
30:03if we're going to count
30:03one loss record
30:05for head coaches,
30:06we should count
30:06one loss record
30:07for quarterbacks.
30:08That's the goal.
30:09I mean,
30:09that's what they're
30:10trying to accomplish.
30:12Well,
30:13especially with all
30:13the emphasis placed
30:14on the quarterback position
30:16over the last couple decades.
30:17Baldy,
30:18receiving team number 34.
30:2010-yard penalty,
30:22first down,
30:22timeout.
30:24So the punt return
30:26results in a penalty.
30:28The Eagles will start
30:28deep in their own territory
30:29when we come back.
30:31New quarterback
30:32for the Eagles,
30:33Dorian Thompson-Robinson.
30:36Thompson-Robinson
30:37has been awesome himself
30:39in the preseason
30:41the last couple years
30:42for the Browns,
30:42including two years ago
30:43here in Philly.
30:45He just hasn't fared
30:46nearly as well
30:47in regular season action.
30:55I don't want to say
30:56that playing quarterback
30:57for the Browns these days
30:58generally comes
30:59with a certain pull.
31:03Well,
31:04they've got,
31:04I think,
31:05six on the roster
31:06right now.
31:07Last time I checked,
31:08six quarterback.
31:09Cleveland Browns.
31:10Thompson-Robinson
31:11played seven games,
31:12started two of them
31:13for Cleveland last year,
31:14threw for 440 yards.
31:19It's the touchdown
31:20interception ratio
31:21that's really,
31:22really cost him
31:23in his regular season
31:24starts the last two years.
31:25Let's see how he plays here
31:26in green and white.
31:29Fired that one in.
31:30You saw the arm strength
31:31to be able to find
31:32a tight window
31:33and sneak it in there
31:35to Nick Muse.
31:38That's one of the things
31:39that Kevin Patool,
31:43the offensive coordinator,
31:44said to us
31:44about DTR.
31:48He said he throws it
31:49better than what we saw
31:50on tape,
31:51and you can see right there
31:52he put some legit zip on it,
31:54getting the ball to Muse,
31:56who has a Super Bowl
31:59championship ring.
32:00He was on the practice squad
32:01the last two weeks
32:02of the playoffs.
32:03That, my friends,
32:05is good timing.
32:06Ooh, and that throw
32:07with much too much on it
32:10and behind Wilson.
32:12Yeah, that needs to be
32:13a layup, right?
32:14You know, and he knows it.
32:16In the NFL,
32:18if you have a wide-open receiver
32:20on an in-breaking route,
32:22he's almost 6'7", 230.
32:24Put it on him.
32:25Although, look at that again.
32:27There was too much heat on that.
32:29I bet you Johnny Wilson
32:30would say he still
32:31should have caught it, right?
32:32I thought he put
32:33a little too much on it.
32:34It was a little bit behind him,
32:35but Moorhead,
32:36Aaron Moorhead,
32:37the receiver coach,
32:38is saying to him,
32:39you still have to catch that.
32:40So, I'm going to put that
32:4150-50, 50 on DTR,
32:4350 on Johnny Wilson
32:44for not hauling that in.
32:46Man to punt it away
32:48from his own five.
32:51What a twisting kick
32:52and room for a return
32:54for Burton.
32:56Breaking tackles
32:57on the left side.
32:59And he is down
33:00inside the 30,
33:01still on his feet.
33:03And a big-time return
33:05for Jermaine Burton
33:06at 31 yards
33:08after the 40-yard punt.
33:11Well, and the Bengals
33:11are desperate
33:12to get anything
33:14out of Burton,
33:14who's rookie year
33:17was a big nothing burger.
33:20They took him
33:21in the third round
33:21last year
33:22out of Alabama
33:23with the idea
33:25that he would be
33:25a major contributor
33:26and he was not
33:27that at all.
33:28season ended on a
33:34controversy of dope.
33:36A domestic dispute.
33:38He didn't travel
33:38with the team
33:39to their last game
33:39in Pittsburgh.
33:44Eagles have not
33:45gotten much
33:45of a pass rush
33:46here tonight, Scott.
33:47They have not.
33:48Out of the twos
33:48or the threes,
33:50that is something
33:51that they're going
33:51to be disappointed
33:52because they need
33:54backup defensive linemen
33:56who can get
33:56to the quarterback.
33:58Got first down.
34:01Head down
34:01and pound it
34:03to the middle.
34:06I'm telling you,
34:07Scott,
34:07this guy can play.
34:09I love watching
34:10Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
34:11Watch how quickly
34:12he keys,
34:14diagnose,
34:15and attacks.
34:15He sees it.
34:16He's gone.
34:17He's not going
34:18to let that tight end
34:18block him.
34:20Get them before
34:21they get you.
34:22He is such a heady,
34:24smart player,
34:25very different body
34:26type and style of play
34:28than his father,
34:29but still extremely
34:30effective.
34:33And they are living
34:34on the ground
34:35with Taj Brooks.
34:39That's a nice stick
34:40there by Andre Sam.
34:41That's what he does.
34:43He is not afraid
34:44to put his nose in there.
34:47So the defense
34:49will try to stand up
34:50again on third down
34:51now.
34:51Call it five.
34:52They've got to get down
34:53to the 13-yard line.
34:55You know,
34:55they haven't given up
34:56any points, Scott,
34:57after those first two
34:58Joe Burrow,
34:59Jamar Chase drives.
35:00The defense has held up
35:02pretty darn well.
35:09See if they can do it
35:10again now on third down.
35:12Browning's throw.
35:13His receiver fell down
35:14and did he catch the ball?
35:17No.
35:18Okay.
35:19No, Trotter almost did.
35:23Trotter's frustrated.
35:24Is this the third
35:24drop interception
35:25by Eagles youngsters?
35:30That ball came out weird.
35:32You're right.
35:33His receiver fell.
35:36Trotter almost got his
35:38hands underneath it.
35:39Decent effort there
35:40by Tanner Hudson.
35:41The Bengals tried to
35:44try to catch it
35:45from his keister.
35:48And yep,
35:48Trotter had the opportunity
35:49but couldn't haul it in.
35:52So a 36-yard attempt
35:54for McPherson.
35:55Trying to get the Bengals
35:56their first point
35:57since the first quarter.
35:59And it is good.
36:035.19 left to go
36:05here in the third.
36:06Eagles still holding
36:07a 10-point lead.
36:08The West Pharmaceutical
36:09Services are by your side
36:11for a healthier world.
36:13They're back this season
36:13donating 30 trees
36:15for each successful field goal.

36:21Let's go down to Dave Spadaro.
36:23All right, Scott.
36:23I'm here with Eagles
36:24running back Saquon Barkley
36:26and Saquon,
36:26another member of the
36:28Madden 99 Club.
36:29Big deal to you?
36:30Yeah, I mean,
36:31anytime you get recognized
36:33for your talent
36:33in football field
36:34it's a big deal.
36:35Especially coming from Madden
36:36and being the cover of Madden
36:37and being a fan of Madden
36:38for every long time.
36:39So, to be a 99 Club
36:41and being a cover
36:42you're in a group of people
36:44that are heck of football players
36:46so it's always an honor.
36:48Are you any good at playing, Madden?
36:49I'm decent.
36:50I'm decent.
36:51I probably was a little better
36:52when I was younger
36:53than I did now
36:54but I think with me
36:55being on the cover
36:56I'm probably going to play more.
36:57A dream season
36:58in 2024
36:59Super Bowl Championship
37:00number one jersey seller.
37:02Also,
37:03great recognition,
37:04great moment for you.
37:05Yeah, I mean,
37:06and the only way that happens
37:07is with the fans here.
37:09I was saying it earlier
37:10when, you know,
37:12when we have
37:12what's it called?
37:13Tush push?
37:14When we did a tush push
37:14and it got crazy loud in here
37:16I looked at some of the rookies
37:17and I was like
37:17there's no other place
37:18in the world
37:19that gets crazy
37:19for a play like that.
37:21And it just goes
37:21to show you the type of fan
37:22and the fans we have
37:24and support that we have
37:24so, yeah,
37:26that's not able to be
37:27accomplished without them.
37:29Saquon,
37:29I know the focus is on 2025
37:31but you did get the ring
37:32fairly recently here.
37:34Amazing moment for you,
37:36I'm sure.
37:36Yeah,
37:37some of you dream about
37:37as a little kid.
37:39You know,
37:39the ring ceremony
37:40was amazing.
37:41You get to bring everybody back.
37:43Got to see some guys
37:44we haven't seen in a little bit.
37:46Honestly,
37:46I've only put it on once
37:48since my nephew
37:49won a flag
37:51at a 7-on-7 tournament.
37:53Oh, let's go.
37:54Let's go.
37:54Let's go.
37:54Let's go.
37:55Let's go.
37:56Sorry about that.
37:57I like to play by play.
37:59Yeah,
37:59we won a 7-on-7 tournament
38:00so I put it on for him
38:01but it's amazing
38:02and, you know,
38:03it was a heck of a year
38:04to last year it was
38:06but that's the beauty of it.
38:07We got a new start
38:08and love being out here
38:09and supporting the guys.
38:10What are you feeling
38:11about this 2025 Eagles team?
38:13I mean,
38:14we always,
38:14you know,
38:14I feel like it could be special.
38:15Another special year,
38:16we have the talent.
38:17We have the guys
38:18that come in and buy in.
38:20The work ethic is amazing.
38:21The mindset's amazing.
38:23We have an unbelievable
38:23coaching staff.
38:24The organization
38:25from top to bottom
38:26is unbelievable.
38:26So everything that we want
38:28to accomplish is all out there.
38:29We just got to go out there
38:29and take it
38:30and do it together.
38:31I think people out there
38:31want to,
38:32they don't see the love
38:33that you guys have
38:34for each other
38:34and how you're rooting
38:35for everyone to have success.
38:36It's amazing.
38:37Yeah,
38:37so it's a crazy business.
38:38You know,
38:38I told the running back before,
38:40it was like,
38:40we're going out there,
38:41we're competing against each other,
38:43you know,
38:43and there's only so many spots.
38:45You're not only competing
38:45for this team,
38:46you're competing
38:46for all other 31 teams,
38:48but just we're,
38:50we're with each other
38:51in the building
38:52from seven to seven
38:53every single day.
38:54We're grinding,
38:55sweating,
38:55all the bloods
38:56that the cliche answer
38:57they give there,
38:58but that's,
38:59that's the bond
38:59that you build
39:00and obviously we cut it down
39:02to a certain amount,
39:02but that carries over
39:04into the season
39:04and especially guys
39:05who've been in the league
39:06for every long time.
39:07The relationship
39:08doesn't even grow,
39:08so you've got guys out there,
39:10you just want to see them
39:11go out there and make plays.
39:12Finally,
39:12you're feeling good
39:13about what you know
39:14about the offense?
39:14Yeah,
39:15I mean,
39:15I think KP's doing
39:16a tremendous job.
39:16I think you see that right now.
39:18There we go.
39:18Another dot.
39:20Good play, boy.
39:23Yeah,
39:23I think you see that right there.
39:25But yeah,
39:25we're all buying in.
39:26We're working hard.
39:27The defense is really good.
39:28Obviously,
39:29Vic and those guys,
39:30you know,
39:30this is the year
39:31that they had last year,
39:32so camp is super competitive
39:33and that's a good makeup
39:35of a really good team
39:36when every day
39:37it's not just one side winning.
39:39We're going back and forth
39:39with some improvement,
39:40so we're really super excited
39:41about the season.
39:42Saquan,
39:42thanks so much.
39:43Good luck this year.
39:45All right,
39:45Ross,
39:46any sport
39:47in history,
39:49has there been
39:49a more perfect
39:50first season
39:51for a star
39:52arriving
39:53in one town
39:54than his was
39:55here last year?
39:56not that I'm aware of.
39:58And what's so heartwarming
40:01about Saquan
40:02is he's from here,
40:04you know,
40:04grew up in Allentown,
40:05Eastern PA,
40:06but he's as good
40:08off the field
40:09as he is on the field.
40:10I mean,
40:10I can't tell you
40:11how many people
40:11have met him
40:12and just said
40:13he's the greatest guy.
40:15When he was with the Giants,
40:16I had him do a video
40:17for my nephew,
40:19Sebastian.
40:19I mean,
40:19he is just
40:20everything you would hope for
40:23in a superstar
40:24and then some.
40:26He's had a couple of plays
40:27by the rookies here.
40:28Uh-oh,
40:28a fumble by a rookie.
40:30Loose ball on the field.
40:32I believe the Eagles
40:33got back out.
40:34Derek Powell
40:34had a second effort run
40:36early in this drive.
40:38Taylor Morin
40:39made a nice catch
40:40later on,
40:43and Cameron Williams,
40:45another rookie,
40:45just fell on that fumble.
40:46Let's see what happened here.
40:48Yeah,
40:48I think DTR
40:49put it a little bit
40:50too far
40:51in front of him there
40:52for Shundereck Powell
40:55who put up
40:57huge numbers
40:58in college,
40:59including
41:00over 1,000 yards
41:02rushing,
41:02three straight years,
41:0380 receptions.
41:05Another FCS guy.
41:07On third down,
41:08completed pass
41:09to EJ Jenkins.
41:10Got to be about
41:11two yards shy
41:12of the first down.
41:13This will be
41:14an interesting decision
41:15for Sirianni and Patool.
41:17I think they're going
41:17to go for it.
41:18They're waving
41:19Braden Mann,
41:20the punter,
41:21waving him back.
41:24DTR
41:24is very effective
41:26with his legs.
41:27He can run.
41:28I would not be surprised.
41:30Sirianni's having
41:31a good time.
41:32I would not be surprised
41:33if Thompson Robinson's
41:35legs
41:36are a factor
41:37in some way
41:38on this play,
41:38even if it's an RPO.
41:43So on fourth down,
41:45Thompson Robinson's
41:46straight pass,
41:46throws incomplete.
41:47He skied that
41:49over in the direction
41:50of Wilson.
41:52But well covered
41:54by Braylon Lux.
41:56And Cincinnati
41:56will take over
41:57with a minute 46
41:58left to go here
41:59in the third quarter.
42:02Got good news
42:03and bad news.
42:04Eagles Open Practice
42:05Sunday is a sellout.
42:07Another large event
42:08in the stadium area.
42:09Fans are encouraged
42:10to take public
42:11transportation.
42:13Those of you
42:13who do drive,
42:14parking will be free
42:15before 6 p.m.
42:17How about that?
42:18A full building
42:19for a public practice.
42:21That's incredible.
42:22I mean,
42:22that's what Saquon Barkley
42:23was just talking about
42:24when he said
42:24how loud it got
42:25for the tush push.
42:27Eagles fans
42:28are just a
42:29different breed.
42:31And you know,
42:32Eagles fans,
42:32Scott,
42:32I feel like
42:33have always been diehard
42:34back when I was a fan
42:36of Randall Cunningham
42:38and Reggie White
42:38in the 80s
42:39and the 90s.
42:40But I can't ever
42:42remember it being
42:43like this,
42:43especially in terms
42:44of traveling
42:45to away games.
42:46Yep.
42:47Every Eagles away game,
42:49it's amazing
42:49how many stadiums
42:50they take over.
42:55And the Bengals
42:55back out at it.
42:57Taj Brooks
42:58continues his
43:00heavy workload.
43:01Take a look
43:01at the top five
43:02draft picks this year.
43:04What do you see
43:04as the common theme
43:05running through this,
43:06Ross?
43:07All on defense.
43:09Yep.
43:09And they know
43:10that they're young
43:11on defense.
43:11They're remarkably
43:12young on defense.
43:14And I think
43:14there's a real
43:15chance all of
43:17those guys make
43:17contributions this
43:19year.
43:20I mean,
43:20Makuba can start
43:21at safety.
43:21Campbell can start
43:22at linebacker.
43:23I'd expect Robinson
43:24to be in the
43:25de-tackle rotation
43:26and wouldn't be
43:27shocked if,
43:28you know,
43:29maybe it's an injury
43:29or something else
43:30if Smile Munden
43:31and Mack
43:32McWilliams
43:33get time as well.
43:36And flags fly.
43:38It'll be a
43:39procedure call.
43:39Step infraction.
43:46Office number 64.
43:48Five-yard penalty.
43:49Feels second out.
43:52Take a look
43:53at the ranks
43:54last season.
43:54Total defense first.
43:55Points allowed second.
43:57Passing and yards
43:58per play
43:59both first.
44:01And if you hear
44:01the league kind of
44:02quaking a little bit
44:03in their boots,
44:04it's because seven
44:05starters are back
44:06on Nick Sirianni's
44:07defense.
44:08and they've
44:10reloaded
44:11in terms of the
44:12talent they brought
44:13in.
44:15It'll be an
44:16interesting year.
44:17And there you go.
44:19As if on cue
44:21getting around
44:22the outside,
44:23Patrick Johnson.
44:25This guy's made
44:26a lot of plays
44:27for us here
44:28in the preseason
44:28over the last
44:30five years.
44:31Watch the right
44:32side of your screen.
44:33It's going to be
44:33speed and hands.
44:35Watch.
44:35Speed and then hands.
44:37I like the arm
44:38and rip up
44:39by Johnson
44:40going around
44:41the Bengals.
44:42Left tackle
44:43number 74
44:44Jalen Rivers.
44:46That is well done
44:47by Johnson.
44:48Unfortunately,
44:50there was a penalty
44:50called on the Eagles
44:51down the field.
44:53That sack
44:54will not stand.
44:56I believe it was
44:56a hands to the face
44:57call.
45:00As it is,
45:01a first down
45:02for the Bengals
45:02at their own 46.
45:04The closing seconds
45:05of the third quarter.
45:08Jake Browning
45:09getting a lot of time
45:10tonight.
45:10Trying to set up
45:11a screen.
45:11Another flag.
45:12Look out.
45:13This goes back
45:13the other way.
45:16An interception.
45:17You're going to take
45:18my sack away?
45:19Fine.
45:19I'm going to pick
45:20the ball off.
45:23Now,
45:24we've got another flag
45:25on the field.
45:25A little shift.
45:27Offense number 32.
45:29Penalties decline.
45:30Patrick Johnson's
45:35been doing this
45:36for five years.
45:38Drafted by the Eagles
45:40last year was the
45:41first year he actually
45:42got cut.
45:43Played with the Giants.
45:44But watch this move
45:45by Johnson.
45:47He reads it.
45:48It's an inside move.
45:49He feels it.
45:50Gets off.
45:52Right hand stab.
45:53Then he catches it.
45:54Bobbles it.
45:56I don't know if it'll
45:57be the Eagles,
45:58but Patrick Johnson's
45:59out here proving
45:59he's going to be
46:00on some team.
46:02You make your own
46:04luck in this sport
46:05and in life
46:06and Patrick Johnson's
46:08out there getting it
46:09done.
46:10First turnover of the
46:12ball game and the
46:12Eagles right on the
46:13edge of the red zone
46:14now.
46:16DTR thrown to a line.
