00:29columnist uh the jets are coming off a 13 11 absolutely brutal ugly loss in london versus
00:36denver broncos uh and we're here to talk about with mark and break down aaron glenn's postgame
00:40comments aaron glenn's comments today talk about the situation justin fields play we're gonna break
00:46it all down on today's episode of gang's all here but before i get to any of that mr canizzaro how
00:50are you doing today sir i'm trying to recover from what i was watching uh from across the pond
00:55yesterday ryan it was uh it's weird i wasn't covering the game we just had our beat writer
01:00uh brian costello over there and it's just an odd sensation when you're watching it on television
01:06you know rather than being at the game i it almost not that i am a jet fan i'm you know i'm neutral
01:12but it was it was maddening to watch and it kind of put me in the in the shoes of the jet fan not that
01:18i'm i don't feel like i always am because i'm you know i'm a fan myself in general in sports
01:22but it just i watched it and i just was like what are we doing here you know not dissimilar from
01:29what i would be thinking in the press box but i'm more charting it in the press box than i am just
01:34watching it on tv here and again i just felt like i was in this you know sitting in the in the lounge
01:41chair of a jet fan you know pulling hair by hair out when you're wondering what they're doing
01:45offensively why aren't they you know running you know running more design runs with justin fields who
01:51can't pass the ball why aren't they throwing the ball to you know to breeze hall who was supposed
01:57to be in training camp but there was all the talk was he was going to be an amazing outlet and
02:00you know how much fields likes to throw to the running backs blah blah blah and none of it was
02:04happening and nothing was being adjusted as this thing was spiraling and quite frankly if it had not
02:10been for i mean the broncos kept kept the jets of the game yes yeah matt parrot you know the effect is
02:16very weird i i was looking at the inact or i was looking at some of the you know that the inactives
02:21and actives before the game and saw that parrot was going to be starting and i and i all i remembered
02:27was how bad he was the giants because obviously i covered the giants as well and i said well maybe
02:31that might be a little bit of advantage and sure enough he had three holding penalties in the first
02:35half uh you know so between penalties like that and and you know obviously the the fumble that jets
02:41caused you know the turnover their first by the way of the year that the defense is has turned
02:46over or has has created you know that game should have been 20 to nothing at halftime but it somehow
02:52was close and it was even close most maddeningly it was close to the point where the jets had it in
02:58their hands they just needed five or six or seven more yards and nick fault's going to kick that game
03:03winning field goal and they've gone and you know stolen one you know from the broncos in in london and
03:09aaron glenn was getting his first win as a as a jet head coach or as an nfl head coach so it all
03:15in in a long-winded answer to you it just sitting here watching my flat screen which is just above
03:22i just i was speechless yeah you know and it's funny listening to actually the you know the broadcast
03:28and listening to kurt warner talking about it i mean he you know it sounded like he just wanted to
03:32you know leave the the tv booth after that he was so exasperated exasperated so i you know i think we
03:40all felt it and uh i i don't you know i know we'll get into it a little bit but i i was not
03:47satisfied with what i heard from aaron glenn after the game well let's start there mark right so like
03:51aaron glenn right this is his first goal of it as a head coach and and all the offseason talk from him
03:58and his messaging he gave to the fans and to you and the media was looking we're the new york jets
04:04we're built for this uh i want the fans to be proud of the product that's on field but this team
04:11has regressed and it's gotten worse week by week the defense finally had a good game but up until
04:18that that point it was five weeks mark of a defense that just couldn't stop a nosebleed couldn't get a
04:23key stop couldn't create a turnover so it was nice to see that but then on the other side the offense
04:29it's been this narrative of right they can't score and they can't create a offensive push
04:35unless it's in garbage time which glenn likes to neglect and say no there's no such thing as that
04:40the defense you know defenses opposing defenses are really going to play us tough and we get good
04:45yardage but when in reality garbage time is a real thing and the jets offense has produced a lot of that
04:50in garbage time they take a massive step back yesterday yeah and i thought you hit on a key point
04:56there the game plan for justin fields didn't make sense most of the game in terms of he didn't use
05:03his legs much wasn't scrambling wasn't any design read option runs and he didn't use breece hall
05:10arguably his second best receiver on the team at all not one target and only target went to isaiah davis
05:16and garrett wilson was blanketed by patrick sartan on 62 percent of the routes he ran one target
05:22four uh four targets one catch so uh as a coach how can you defend what happened yesterday and what
05:30justin fields went through and and for you to say it's a ridiculous question that we shouldn't bench
05:36him in that point did did yeah how do you feel about that well i really didn't like the way aaron
05:42handled uh brian costello's question um you know our colleague obviously the jet beat writer here
05:47um that was the one and only question that needed to be answered in that in that press conference
05:53it was the most relevant question that that needed to be posed and aaron is very defensive
05:59he's been defensive about the quarterback position since back since training camp you know and and
06:05you know i spoke to him and asked him a question today we had a zoom you know at 10 o'clock this
06:09morning uh with aaron and i i asked him i said listen i understand you know you you know he keeps
06:16making it sound like the benching of of justin fields yesterday would have been like an all
06:22encompassing benching for good my question to him was why would you not think about relieving him for
06:29that game like a pitcher is relieved who's struggling you know a starting pitcher in baseball who's
06:34struggling early and it's clear he's not going to get better why would you not consider bringing
06:38tyrod taylor in who's a you know quite frankly is a better passer he sees he sees the sees the field
06:44better um and aaron continue he continues along that line his answer was essentially you know if i do

07:25year saying he's one he's having one of his best seasons of his career dude you're oh and six or at
07:30that time you're oh and five and yeah he hasn't thrown an interception this year yeah he's got i think
07:34he had seven touchdowns no interceptions whatever the numbers were but again as you just referred to a
07:39minute ago a lot of that production was was in garbage time when the jets were out of games
07:44already you know so it's so deceiving and i don't understand aaron needs to look at that the picture
07:52a little in my opinion and i've got a lot of respect for him he covered his entire career as a jet i love
07:57the hire of him you know i was all for it you know it hasn't it's not looking good right now quite
08:02frankly he's looked overmatched he looked a little bit you know you know over his skis a little bit so far
08:07and that can change i hope it does change but uh i i don't you you shouldn't not bench your quarterback
08:14just because you don't want to hurt his feelings you know and and you know hurt his confidence i mean
08:19this is a big boy league you know bill parcells always says you know bring the huggies if he needs
08:25the huggies but we're not we're not in that kind of business here you know and you know yesterday was
08:30a classic example of and listen i'm bringing tanner angstrand in too because quite frankly
08:35nothing he did nothing to to adjust all day and and what was even more bizarre to me was was today
08:44aaron was touting how angstrand stayed to his game plan you know which was a terrible game plan
08:51what are we doing here the broncos have one of the best pass rushes in the nfl one of the best
08:56defenses the nfl and you drew up long developing pass plays for a quarterback to stay in the pocket
09:02and try and make reads when that's not justin fields that's not his strength exactly with a
09:07quarterback who who could barely get through his first read you know at this point and uh you know
09:13it's funny i'm gonna i'll throw the giants in for a quick second because i've been covering a bit
09:16of them you know of late since since jackson dart took over jackson's darts absolute superpower
09:21from what i've seen so far is his ability to maneuver in the pocket while keeping his eyes
09:27down the field and you know he's created some you know i covered the game on thursday night against
09:32the eagles i covered the game on saturday i'm sorry last week on sunday in new orleans and those
09:37are the two things that that was the thing i took away from both of those games even though
09:41the new orleans game went sideways on the giants he is unbelievable his presence in the pocket
09:46and i don't i mean you know listen i mean i get it denver's got a you know a significant pass rush
09:51these weren't the these weren't the 85 bears okay i mean it's almost like the the jets game planned
09:57to play against the 86 the 85 bears i mean yeah the broncos are good but everybody's got a good pass
10:04rush you know you know so to what we were talking about before how do you counteract a pass rush quick
10:11one read you know quick to start two step drops one run reading out and i i i understand that
10:18sertain is a fantastic you know cornerback and yes he did neutralize um obviously garrett wilson who
10:25looked like he was obviously we now we know that he was ailing a little bit with his knee
10:29uh there's other ways to counteract that you know and i i did ask aaron today why not why would
10:35you not have more design runs for fields because that's the one thing we know he does do well he's an
10:40incredible athlete you know and and and in fairness the broncos were bringing guys out on the outside
10:45you know to contain but i don't think that that still precludes you from from calling some design
10:50runs you know that's more to you know you know to prevent him getting out of the pocket and scrambling
10:56you know he's in trouble so i would have absolutely you know you know designed up some you know called up
11:02some more design runs uh it's just the whole thing was it was still you know we know it was weird
11:07right when you think about it it was probably just as maddening for the denver fan wondering why in
11:12the world are we not blowing these idiots out for god's sake right you know i'm sure in denver
11:17they're looking at it just as negatively as we were here except for the fact that you know the jets
11:22are 0-5 and denver was you know it was right in the mix well look and to go further to your point
11:27mark about this offense and what they were doing schematically wise you know i go back to what you
11:32said there too about aaron glenn in the training camp talking about breeze hall right like screen
11:37passes are another big way to stop a pass rush because if you got aggressive pass rush you can
11:41catch them in a screen pass and break one for 20 30 40 yards which the jets had zero explosive plays
11:47yet again yesterday uh do you know that breeze hall believe it or not he has zero targets on 14 routes
11:54at lined up as wide receiver and this is a quote that aaron glenn said you could split him out at wide
11:59and let him run the entire route tree because he can run it like a receiver so to what you're saying
12:05about him and angstrand how are you how exactly are you utilizing this guy to the best of his
12:10potential so that's where i question as a fan and someone that's been around this game a little bit
12:15it's like i was always told kyp know your personnel if you know your personnel you should be able to
12:21coach to their strengths and get them in the best positions that's not what's happening here with
12:25this jets team and let's go to situation wise with aaron glenn right someone that you're saying is over
12:29his skis a little bit at the end of the game let's not even talk about the end of the first half which
12:33is a disaster yet but these are the worst the end of the end of the game though you burned a timeout
12:38in the previous to last drive because you just wanted to punt it on fourth down so you just burnt
12:42the timeout those aren't useful for you right there and then the last drive you don't run the ball and
12:48then on fourth you know third down and fourth down you decide to to throw it a guy that you watched in
12:54justin fields who has negative 10 passing yards at that point has eight sacks before the final sack and
13:00you said instead of kicking the field goal and giving our chance for a 62 yarder which you didn't
13:05even know what the distance was at the end of the game let's not even get there but you put the ball
13:10in justin fields hands a guy that you watched was already sacked eight times and wasn't processing the
13:14field well wasn't throwing to open guys and honestly mark i watched a quarterback who looked like he had
13:19the yips and didn't want to throw the football how do you not recognize as a coach in the time in the
13:24moment and saying guys we just got to kick here and take that chance well i the most you know
13:29referring to that sequence to me and there were so many things that went wrong beginning with the
13:33wasted timeout which aaron explained today that you know he initially felt he wanted to get aggressive
13:39and he was thinking about going for it but they wanted to call the timeout and talk about it and
13:44john berger his analytics guy talked him out of it saying i don't think this is a good play here
13:48so yeah so they these are the kind of things that should be should be addressed prior to the good
13:54coaching staffs the bill parcells and the and the bill belichicks those things are being processed on
14:00the sidelines two plays before that that that sequence occurs not oh my gosh what are we going
14:06to do now you know geez the clock's running down um so that was the first mistake but to me the most
14:11egregious mistake without question you referred to it putting having justin fields drop back to pass
14:21at second and three from the 46 yard line of denver okay if you gain four more six more yards you're at
14:28the 40 that's a 58 yard field goal which which nick folk has kicked in recent weeks his career high
14:35and apparently you know the conditions were very common benign at tottenham stadium yesterday
14:40um you needed basically if you make 10 yards you're almost certain to have folk make that field
14:45goal and you you drop justin fields back to pass as you referred to he's already been sacked eight
14:51times hasn't been able to see the field you're putting your trust in that and instead of just
14:57running breeze hall at worst is going to fall forward for a couple three yards and get you a little bit
15:02closer to field goal range and it was again it was only second down at that moment um that put them
15:07obviously in in in third and long and then fourth and long you know fourth and eight third and eight
15:11and i thought the final mistake was again i mean we're obviously crapping all over fields but he
15:18deserves it the way he played you know you cannot tell me that the jets had a better chance of converting
15:24a fourth and eight on a day when they were two out of 15 on third down okay on a day on a day when
15:30fields was was you know obviously you know he looked like a high school quarterback you know who's
15:34dumped into a professional game are you honestly going to tell me that you think the percentages
15:39were higher that you're going to gain that first down that nick fault might might be used to just
15:44might be able to blast a 62 yard field goal you know which was not out of the question he if he can
15:49get 58 you might be able to kick four more yards mark four more yards yeah so uh that was the you know
15:56that was obviously the final nail and you know i don't think there was any jet fan or jet follower on the
16:01planet who was watching that sequence who thought the jets were going to convert on fourth and eight
16:05while there were i tell you what the happiest people on that field were the guy were the were
16:10everybody on the bronco sidelines those guys were like oh great they're going for them they're not
16:14kicking a field goal because there's they had a better chance kick the field goal you know now i
16:19wasn't out there i haven't had a chance to talk to nick folk um nick's certainly not going to throw
16:24the coaching staff under the bus but i'm quite certain that nick you know i don't think there's any way
16:29that nick was on that sideline saying there's no way i can't i can kick a 62 yard field goal i refuse
16:33to believe that mark let's talk about the end of the first half now uh i've never seen anything like
16:38that before more fun and follies right like i've never seen anything like that before in my life
16:43where a coach goes for it on fourth and one uh with the fake punt and then just decides to run out
16:48the clock to me that's coaching scared because you wanted to keep the ball away from sean payton and
16:53the denver broncos and when you're coaching scared and admitting that you're coaching scared
16:58that to me is a giant red flag that i don't know if you're right for this job because i know
17:04you're oh and five what do you have to lose at this point go for it be aggressive go for points
17:11don't coach scared because that to me means that you're unsure of yourself and you're unsure of
17:17this team and you don't really trust the guys you have out there there are so many tentacles of
17:22badness to this that whole sequence to be honest with you i don't even know where to start
17:26you mentioned obviously okay let's let's let's do let's put it this way they're afraid of the
17:31broncos getting the ball what were the broncos doing on offense yesterday the jets defense was
17:36playing fantastic in a way you weren't trusting not only your offense but your defense as well
17:41you know so that okay let's start there all right so yeah they're afraid to give the broncos back the
17:48ball right and which is just to me inexplicable and you know listen i i asked aaron again today
17:56about even if you were being uber cautious and you didn't want to put the ball in the air
18:01you had a fourth down and one at around midfield you you could have just why not at the very least
18:09try to try hail mary why not at the very least it's the last play of the half the broncos aren't going
18:16to get the ball back they had a timeout they wouldn't be able to use it because you you're using
18:19that last fourth down play you know not to get a first down just to literally throw hail mary down
18:25now aaron did admit today you know if he had to do it all over again he probably would have done that
18:29but what was scary was he we see he talked about how there was confusion on the sidelines he kind of
18:35admitted there was confusion on the sidelines now part of it was he was kind of blaming the ref the
18:40officiating staff because they said one of them called a first down and the other one said it was
18:45fourth down on the fourth and one now i didn't see that watching the tv you know watching the tv
18:50broadcast nobody mentioned it uh it was clearly you know fourth and one to me and everybody was
18:56watching so i i don't really know what he heard on the sideline but at the very least if you're going
19:02to be so if you're going to be the most cautious then just run that thing down which it was down to
19:09about five seconds put fields under you know under under center or or shotgun and just wing
19:15something down the field and you might get a defensive you know penalty which which you know
19:20keeps the half going and then put you in field goal range i mean why would you not at least do that it's
19:25a free play it's a free play you know so there were just so many elements of that were so bad i mean
19:31there was no urgency after listen i love the fact that they went for the you know for the fake
19:36field goal in fact it was so such a surprise that the fake punt sorry you meant right the fake punt
19:43i'm sorry it was such a surprise that that the damn tv cameras yeah they weren't even on nfl network
19:49we never even saw the play because they were off like doing they were interestingly they were showing
19:55the denver sideline and the denver special teams coach was going nuts because he saw breeze hall lined up
20:00in the backfield exactly but the tv cam you know that was don't get me going on the that nfl network
20:06broadcast because that was like a high school public broadcast it was pathetic anyway that's another
20:12whole nother podcast uh and uh but anyway yeah so i like the i like the aggressive nature there and
20:20the irony to all of this how that how basically aaron shriveled up in that moment is that his disciple
20:27his latest disciple dan campbell goes for almost every fourth down right and i don't know they so
20:33they go for that and then there's no urgency they run the ball they get you know you know they get
20:38one of the i mean fields get sacked again i believe in that sequence because they ran it and then they
20:42said oh let's throw it now too it made no sense it was everything was so disjointed and quite frankly
20:49most of the jets off of offensive game plan was to try was it was like conventional you know let's run
20:56in first down run second down and try to get it to third and five or third and fourth and maybe you
21:00know third and four maybe we can get a first down that became so utterly and pathetically predictable
21:05uh it obviously didn't work out so well i mean it was just a like i said engstrand i i just i am
21:11some of the things that he did in that game were almost fireable offenses i mean obviously you're
21:17gonna fire your oxy you know six games in but it was he looked so overmatched in that game yep and
21:23you know and again i go back to the you know the last drop back you know before the end of the game
21:27because quite frankly to me that cost him the game um you know that that you know you're speechless
21:34trying to understand what reasoning you know and and he'll be available this week on thursday and
21:39we'll ask him you know thursday's the day of the coordinators and i'm sure he'll have time to craft a
21:45very you know very sound answer and reason for that by by thursday right but i don't think anything
21:50he could say is going to change mine or anybody's opinion about how bad of a sequence it was well
21:54look he's a rookie offensive coordinator and you have a rookie head coach and they're all trying
21:58to figure this out on the fly and i will say mark this is the point where i ask you who's been around
22:05this game for a while now and i mean that in no derogatory way or mean way but look when do you
22:12start losing the locker room when things like this happen because i saw garrett wilson's and
22:17comments after the game on camera and he was confused even what happened at the end of the
22:22first half and that's a guy in my opinion who wants to win who wants to be so good for this team and
22:27help his team win a football game no matter what but they just keep falling on themselves and i guess
22:34my question is aaron glenn's messaging when does that start falling short when guys in that locker
22:39room look at you and you're confused and you don't understand what the situation is and it's
22:44leading to really ugly losses like this yeah it's you can't fool your players uh when you're a coach
22:50um and i know that that you know that locker room wants aaron to succeed i mean aaron's a guy that you
22:58want to play for um and you know he's he's said and done all the right things you know not including
23:05the poor game game management if you will you know on sunday but uh there you know you can't tell me
23:11that there aren't guys in that locker room uh now again i wasn't in there yesterday you know i mean
23:16i'm sure you know even even the comments that garrett wilson made yesterday and you know i thought
23:23he did a very good job of being diplomatic but also being somewhat transparent about how unhappy he was
23:29about the plan of the sequence and and the confusion uh but even then you know he's biting he's he's just
23:36about drawing blood biting his tongue you know and and you know because these guys don't want to
23:40throw the head coach under the bus you know there's six games into this thing again i mean this you
23:45know if the season's over in terms of you want a winning season but um you can't tell me that there's
23:51not a lot of guys in that locker room that were shaking their heads yesterday wondering why the
23:56hell is tyrod taylor not in this game you know they're a practice they see it they see the way he
24:01slings the ball around he's a better passer um this was a day that you know fields just i mean he
24:06started the game poorly and got worse as the day went on and when your players are looking at that
24:12you know they you know and nothing's being done you know i mean aaron you know as i referred to
24:17aaron talked about worrying about you know fields looking over his shoulder he should be worried
24:21about his own players the other players in the locker room wondering whether he's putting them in
24:25the best position to win the game because as you referred to at the top ryan you know the
24:30the defensive performance yesterday was fantastic i mean it's weird because i i actually thought bo
24:36nix was was slinging the ball around pretty well uh early on in that game and and i don't my eye is
24:42not great enough on tv without watching film what kind of adjustments that wilkes might have made and
24:48quite frankly i thought wilkes has been doing a poor job all year yes uh but uh i mean you know he
24:53had those guys ready to play and obviously they had a they had a players only team meeting the defense
24:57uh before they went over to london and that obviously seemed to have paid some dividends
25:01uh but you know that defensive performance and the special teams performance which really gets
25:06lost in the mix here was fantastic i mean you know the return game you know the downing of that punt
25:12obviously you know ended up giving them you know the lead at 11 10 right with the safety yeah 100
25:17you know i mean there was just so many good things that happened in that game and aaron did touch on
25:21those things today with us and he should you know i mean i guess i mean everybody is all they're
25:26thinking about is all the nonsense that happened yesterday you know and i and he's the head coach
25:30and he has to address the fact that they've gotten better at them yes they regressed overall but mostly
25:35because the quarterback has regressed and the offense and quite frankly the play calling the
25:39offensive coordinator but um that was a really really good football game for that defense and the
25:44special teams and it was wasted by the offense and because of that you can't tell me that there aren't
25:50guys on those sides of the ball that are wondering and even on the offensive side of the ball for all
25:54the guys that want to support justin fields and nobody wants to support him more than than garrett
25:59wilson who's his college teammate you know there has to be there's there's guys in that locker room
26:04it's just human nature that are wondering why are we not bringing tyrod taylor in just for the second
26:08half do something i i started tweeting yesterday after the after this third three and out i just said
26:15i think the jets are one or two more three and outs away where they've got to bring tyrod taylor in
26:19and uh you know obviously it never happened and and we never really got a i i was not happy with
26:24with the explanation that aaron gave that you know aaron is so petrified of the of a quarterback
26:29controversy you get bigger problems that right way bigger way bigger you know what i mean way bigger
26:35mark and and and that's where again i i go back to i know it's different sport but joel sherman i do
26:42pinch strike post and he always talks about feel the game ryan feel of the game is the manager feeling
26:47what the situation is going on the field because that's a key thing right it aaron glenn did not
26:52have a feel of what was going on with justin fields and the offense and that was a poor reflection and
26:57ultimately ended in that result because like you said the defensive special teams really gave them
27:01a chance to win that football game yesterday and the offense was just a complete letdown and they
27:06missed their huge opportunity to put tyrod in even just for a couple series to see if they could spark
27:11something offensively and win a football game for once this year uh my final question mark for you
27:17though look oh and six the heat is only going to get hotter around this noise with aaron glenn and
27:23the job he's doing in his first year i want to be patient but the more and more evidence is piling
27:29up here mark where i'm seeing a coach who just clearly is in over his head and i i have to question
27:35is he really the fit to be a head coach for this job because let's say the jets do go two wins
27:40three wins this year or god forbid zero wins how can you honestly say as an owner woody johnson
27:48i can keep this guy as my head coach next year when you're going to end up with the top pick
27:51and you're going to be selecting a quarterback this upcoming draft what i would say is first of all um i i
27:58i want to see progress you know with aaron and the jets because i i want aaron to succeed because i like
28:05him a lot and i and i do believe he's got some good traits to be a good head coach but if woody
28:12johnson watches another 10 of these of what he watched yesterday you can't bring him back i mean
28:17he absolutely has to see progress and i think he will see progress i listen this is a learning
28:23experience for everybody there you know aaron and obviously angstrand and you know in terms of
28:28and muji you know quite frankly at the top um i i'll i'll i don't want to say i'll be surprised but
28:35i'll i don't think you're going to see a game that poorly coached again this year i hope in my
28:41opinion at least on the offensive side of the ball let's say uh but as you said i you know you know
28:46the joel's joel's comment about the feel you know all of these sports games are their chess matches
28:53you know and they're you know and you know baseball is a classic example of it which obviously joel
28:58you know knows as well as anybody you know you know who's covered the sport as much as he has

29:10made in football there's adjustments to be made bill bill belichick was notorious for being
29:14one of the best you know halftime adjustment coaches around you know but i i hated to see the jets
29:21just continually just bang their head against the same brick wall that they were doing all day
29:25yesterday and i i you know the use of the timeouts the time the clock management you know aaron even
29:31but you know earlier in the year i was not there that day but i know aaron said one one day you know
29:36in training camp that he was talking about the last four minutes of each half is on the head coach
29:41yeah said it himself you know and uh so in you know in answer to the larger question
29:46woody johnson needs to see improvement he needs to see you know and that that's good that goes for
29:52everybody um now you know listen the jets have got a carolina team that just you know just took care
29:59of dallas yesterday you know normally when you see carolina on the schedule next week you're like
30:03all right well that's a good chance for them to get their first win well carolina is three and three
30:07they're not so bad you know they just took care of a dallas team that smoked the jets they're looking
30:12at the jets is that's an easy win right now exactly you know and then you get the browns you know coming
30:17after that and you know which which will probably be the tank bowl right um watch your door sanders
30:23come in and light it up on us too because like that's the guy they could have listen i know they
30:27weren't going to but that was a guy that passed up in the draft and i'm just saying like it'll probably
30:32happen like i wouldn't shock that would that would fall into the category and it's a very large
30:36closet full of items in the only only the jets category but uh yeah i listen it's too early to
30:43make an indictment of aaron it hasn't looked good so far today i thought i thought i thought sunday
30:49was a real low point offensively um and listen he's in charge of that you know and you know he if he
30:56hears that pass call coming over his headset you know at second and three from the 46 uh he's he's
31:04he's vetoing that okay he's got to veto it you know okay it was your oc that made the call but
31:09you got to veto that you got to say no no we're running the ball we're not we're not dropping
31:12this guy back to pass so these are the things that aaron's learning on the fly and uh you know
31:17we we're hearing from his explanations that you know he's not quite up to speed with some of these
31:23things as a head coach you know the one thing and this is something i think i'm writing about for
31:26in a day or two if i could just bring this up right and aaron keeps referring to and again it's
31:32it's his experience and i get it but he referring to the 0 and 11 start with you know with with
31:37detroit you know yeah and campbell and you know how they were they were in bad shape down in new
31:43orleans with the saints and it's almost like he's throwing that out there you know like well listen
31:48it's going to happen to us that way we'll turn it around just like they are well there's no
31:52guarantees that that's going to happen right we don't have jared goff you know for example
31:57you know waiting in the wings now again i get it they lost with jared goff too you know but
32:01you know eventually they got it right and jared goff was you know borderline mvp candidate or he's
32:07borderline he was gonna be mvp candidate uh for that team so i i i caution the jets fans who think
32:14that just because you know aaron's going through this you know with the jets the same way he went
32:20through it in detroit the same turnaround is going to happen and the jets are going to be one of the best
32:24teams in the league in two years you know they got to make that happen themselves and that comes by
32:29making progress and small steps like they did with the defense playing better you know let's hopefully
32:36maybe that hopefully the defense has found itself a little bit yesterday because that's where that's
32:41where some of the best talent on the team lies absolutely i mean they were given 30 plus points away
32:45was an absolute travesty before you so yeah you just got to hope you know that you know baby steps
32:51and i know this sounds kind of corny and cliche but you know that the offense needs to make that
32:56step now and and quite frankly in carolina in that first half if we're seeing the same ineptitude out
33:01of justin fields i don't give a damn what what aaron glenn is worried about with with justin fields
33:07feelings or hurting his feelings or looking over his shoulder he's he's he's taking the sparky
33:11anderson hook and taking him his ass off the field and he's putting tyrod taylor on the field because
33:17the jets need hope to win a game at some point you know they've lost three games now by two points
33:23and another one by six points so you know again there's been some garbage time involved a little
33:27bit there but um you know they have they've had opportunities they've had leads in fourth quarters
33:33like they did yesterday so you know part a lot of that's on the head coach you got to figure out how
33:38to get over that hump well mark this was awesome this was a uh nice therapy session for me uh and i'm sure
33:44a lot of jets fans are going to appreciate listening to this as well we'll see how it goes from here man
33:48uh like you said the panthers coming up this week it doesn't sound great for garrett wilson with the
33:51knee uh so we'll see what comes out of that but uh i am anxious to see how the rest of this season
33:58goes and if the jets can take like you said those incremental steps forward and not keep going
