23 October - National Afternoon Forecast presented by Honor Criswick
Transcript
00:00Hello there.
00:01It's going to be another windy afternoon ahead after a wet and windy night last night.
00:06But is it going to stay this way?
00:07Well, we've still got that area of low pressure, named by Meteor Francis Storm Benjamin, swirling
00:12its way into the North Sea.
00:14So it is going to continue to bring in some brisk northerly winds, particularly across
00:17eastern and southeastern coastal areas and some rain at times, but as it clears its way
00:22eastwards, that rain will eventually ease away.
00:25We've also got some showers due to another area of low pressure situated to the northwest,
00:29dragging in some showers across western Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland, also some showery
00:33outbreaks pushing into Wales, parts of south and southwest England.
00:36Some of these could be heavy, perhaps even with some hail and thunder.
00:40But through the bulk of the country, it is going to be a much brighter day, still plenty of
00:44cloud across central areas, but it is going to be feeling chilly, highs not really pushing
00:49much past 11 to 12 degrees Celsius, particularly where we see that brisk wind.
00:55Now through the course of the evening, the strongest of the winds will ease away, but it is still
00:59going to be fairly breezy.
01:01Storm Benjamin still swirling around, still dragging in some showers and some brisk winds
01:04across eastern coasts.
01:06Still plenty of showery outbreaks continuing to push in from the west and it will stay breezy,
01:10so it is going to be continuing to feel chilly by Friday morning, but largely frost free.
01:15And particularly across parts of the east, it's going to be a much brighter start to the
01:20day.
01:21Still some showers and places mainly pushing in from the west.
01:23These could merge together to bring some longer spells of rain.
01:27Northeastern parts of Scotland, northeastern England too could see some quite persistent,
01:30possibly heavy outbreaks of rain by the time we reach Friday afternoon.
01:34But for the bulk of the country, there should still be plenty of bright spells.
01:38Still quite breezy and still feeling chilly in that wind too.
01:41Highs once again reaching around 12 to 13 degrees Celsius, around 10 degrees Celsius in the
01:46north, but obviously feeling a lot chillier than that in those brisk northerly winds.
01:50Now, as we edge closer to the weekend, yes, low pressure still dominating across eastern
01:56areas, but high pressure starting to build through in the west.
02:00That really establishes a strong northerly flow across parts of the country.
02:03So we do drag in some colder air, continuing that chilly feel as we head into the weekend.
02:08Still some showers and places.
02:10But for more details on this weekend's weather, you can catch Aidan later on YouTube.
