00:00Hello and welcome to this New South Wales Janesweather update for Monday.
00:04We have a band of rain that is moving right across the country into the southeast.
00:09Now out ahead of that we have got heat.
00:11I've got the heatwave map on today so the yellows and the orange colours in through here.
00:15So there's a lot of heat that is coming down out ahead of this band of rain.
00:19It's feeding in from the northwest and that's driven by an engine that is over the west.
00:22So all of this is going to take a couple of days to move through.
00:25That's going to be part one.
00:26There is going to be a second part that comes through over the weekend.
00:30So let's have a look day by day what to expect here.
00:33In terms of our red and purple area here that's the heat.
00:36That's the heatwave.
00:37So that is out ahead of our band of rain that is coming through.
00:40So on Monday it's a Victorian thing.
00:43It barely makes it into the southern parts of New South Wales.
00:45We'll get the cloud that is associated with that.
00:47So it's all about the heat that is out ahead.
00:50As we go through Tuesday there's a little push up the coast in through here.
00:53So a break from the heat but we still have our red and purple lines here.
00:57So it is still firmly over New South Wales and will rear its head once again.
01:02So that's by the end of Tuesday.
01:04Let's now have a look at Wednesday.
01:06All of that heat is through and now it is retreating back up to the north.
01:09So we've got a fair bit of action to work out with that during the first part of the week.
01:13And then it disappears.
01:15Wednesday is our day for wet weather.
01:16You'll notice all of this is a western system.
01:19So it increases as it reaches the ranges here.
01:22It peaks on the ranges particularly in the south not going into the north.
01:25And then it decreases and heads into the eastern side.
01:28This is not a coastal system as it comes through.
01:30So if you're just on the inland parts there in the west in the southern parts of New South Wales.
01:35You'll do well out of this system here.
01:37That is Wednesday.
01:38Let's have a look at Thursday.
01:39The next burst of rain is starting to build over in the west.
01:42But we are in a break in through here.
01:44Heading into Friday, still in our break.
01:46The next burst of heat remains to our north.
01:49So you'll feel it in the northern parts.
01:51But we're not going to have it move right down into the southeast.
01:54Have a look here at our rain band coming through.
01:56That's Friday.
01:57Here we have Saturday.
01:58And then into Sunday.
02:00And then into next Monday.
02:02So that's our next burst of wet weather moving through.
02:05This one will end up with a coastal flavour as well.
02:07So it's going to hit the west.
02:08And that's going to come around.
02:09It's going to hit the coast as well.
02:11Again, more of a southern system.
02:13But this time we will see some activity in the north too.
02:16What might that add up to?
02:1725 to 50 millimetres just on the southwest slopes in through here.
02:2115 to 25 just to the side.
02:24So most of the riverine is going to see 15 to 25 millimetres.
02:2710 to 15 through there.
02:28Northern parts taking a break.
02:30We'll have showers and thunderstorms kicking off.
02:33Particularly in through here and in through here.
02:35But that's not until pretty much almost a full week away.
02:37So Sunday and Monday are about a full week away.
02:41All right.
02:41So what does that mean for Sydney?
02:42Ready for a roller coaster of temperatures.
02:45We're in the low to mid-30s on Monday.
02:47We drop down into Tuesday as that onshore flow comes in.
02:50So you can see our southeasterly winds in through here.
02:53We scoot way back up again as we go through Wednesday before our change comes through.
02:57But it's not there by 3 p.m.
02:59That is still a norseally wind.
03:01So temperatures up, then down, then up on Wednesday, and then down as we go through the rest of the week.
03:06So it's Monday and Wednesday that are the hot days.
03:09There's hardly any wet weather with all of that.
03:11Our wet weather is likely to come in early next week, along with a gusty southwesterly wind.
