00:03Tassie, it's Sunday the 12th of July and this is your weather update for the week ahead.
00:08There is strong gale force winds around the coast on Sunday into Monday, hopefully lightning on
00:15Tuesday but definitely by Wednesday. That's delivering coastal surf hazards along the west
00:22coast but also into the Hobart district as well. Let's have a look at that wind we're seeing
00:29gusts between 63 and 90 kilometers an hour on Monday still but there are regions that are
00:34over 90 kilometers an hour that are that have the potential of making their way onto land so
00:40something to note as well. By Tuesday we can see those winds are dropping they're still moderate
00:45for a bit but hopefully by Wednesday yeah they're starting to lighten for sure. Let's have a look at
00:52the rain accumulation so quite similar to wind most of the rain is starting at the is arriving at the
00:58start of the week and then as a high pressure system moves over the rain is dropping as well.
01:03So this is our Monday falls down on the west coast there's a possibility 50 to 75 mils but more
01:10likely
01:1025 to 50. If you are on the eastern side it's only 2 to 5 mils so light showers there.
01:18Tuesday a weakening of that system 15 to 25 possible light showers along the east coast
01:26you know anywhere between 1 and 5 mils in the central regions and then by Wednesday it relatively
01:32is dry. If I zoom out a bit you'll see that this high pressure system is making its way down
01:37south
01:38it's not sitting down over Tassie like it was last week which by the way congratulations
01:43strongest high pressure system recorded in the southern hemisphere 1044.4 right over you guys
01:50which pretty cool. You can see that high is moving down for Thursday latch hours in the west
01:56Friday same thing Saturday and Sunday so that's the story for rainfall. Temperatures are nowhere near as
02:05cold as last week that frost risk is vanishing for you which is good news. By Tuesday you can still
02:11see
02:11there are small areas about negative 5 to 0 degrees. It's really when the high moves over that I want
02:16to check for us. That's when we can get that radiative cooling. Nope it doesn't seem to cool
02:23off that much so that's good news. Let's move now to the in-depth forecast for Launceston which is my
02:29city of choice this week. We can see at the start of the week we have these stronger rain accumulations
02:345 mils on Monday and then that rain eases as the week goes on. Lows are the lowest is 3
02:40degrees on
02:41Wednesday but sort of low 10s single digits and the highs are in the mid teens for the week.
02:48It's Monday you can still see these really strong wind gusts hanging around so make sure that you
02:53secure loose items across Tassie they're not just in Lonnie. Tuesday they start to weaken a little bit
02:58and then by Wednesday they're nice and calm again. That means that spray conditions aren't great this
03:03week. There's not a lot of ample opportunities until the end of the week for spraying. Okay that is
03:09the story for Tassie. You can see accumulations up to the 100 mils are possible for the west coast but
03:15a
03:15lot drier on the east as is typical with Tassie's topography. Have a lovely week. I hope that that
03:22strong breeze doesn't affect things too much for you. Stay safe and we'll see you next time.
