00:02Hello Victoria, it's Sunday the 12th of July and this is your weather forecast for the week ahead.
00:07Tomorrow we still have gale force marine wind warnings as a second front moves through the south
00:14which is also leading to some coastal flood or tide warnings down along the southeast coast and
00:25there's also some strong wind warnings interior as well. That should continue into Tuesday as we still
00:32have strong winds there. You can see our max gusts down in the ocean between the 63 and 90 kilometers
00:39an hour. By Tuesday it does weaken to still strong winds, 40 to 63 kilometer gusts but it should
00:48settle down by Wednesday as this high pressure system starts to move over and into the state.
00:57Let's have a look at rain accumulations. So most of the rain is at the start of the week with
01:02those
01:03frontal and trough systems. So we've got light showers over in the west, two to five mils along
01:11the sort of southern bits, really nothing, maybe a scattered shower up in the northwest. Down in the
01:19west of Gippsland, five to ten mils. Up in the ranges, possibility 15 to 25. Let's have a look on
01:26Tuesday. Similar patterns again and by Wednesday they start to weaken as those fronts have moved
01:34across and the high starts to move through. So that's again when the wind should start to die down.
01:39Thursday nice and calm, Friday calm again, Saturday calm again and Sunday as well. So really all that
01:48rain is concentrated at the top of the week as well as those wind warnings. We're going to have a
01:53look
01:53at Lee and Gaffer for our town in profile. We've got Monday six mils, Tuesday 10 mils, Wednesday 0.2
02:00and then nothing for the rest of the week. Lows are anywhere between three and ten degrees. It gets
02:07chillier at the end of the week as that high moves through and we have radiative cooling but the high
02:12remains pretty consistent at the mid-teens throughout the week. So that's good news. Let's have a look at
02:19those wind gusts on Monday. We can see some stronger wind, poor spring conditions, same on Tuesday and then
02:25it starts to improve as the week goes on. So spring is going to happen at the end of the
02:29week.
02:29There is no frost or frog risk at the start but as that high moves over we have a nice
02:34foggy end to the week again. Nothing like what you saw this week. I know visibility was
02:40absolutely horrific across most of Victoria with that very very strong inversion with dangerous
02:48driving risks because of the poor visibility. So that is not happening this week. The frost that
02:53we saw last week not happening this week either. So this week a bit calmer in terms of those hazards.
03:01All right so that's it Victoria. We've got light accumulations in the northwest, moderate along
03:08the rest of the state. Remembering that most of that weather is in the first few days and then
03:13it eases as the week goes on. I'll see you next time. Have a good one.
