00:03Hello WA, it is Sunday the 12th of July and this is your forecast for the week ahead.
00:08It is fairly calm and stable at the start of the week with a high pressure system sitting over the
00:14region in the southwest that sticks around and delivers no rain for the start. So this is Monday
00:21no rain across the state, Tuesday no rain, Wednesday no rain but you can start to see
00:25this frontal system developing that arrives on Thursday. Most of the rainfall though should
00:31accumulate on Friday around the Perth area anywhere between sort of 5 to 10 mils if you're a bit further
00:40out but if you hit the center of it 25 to 50 mils is possible. So on Saturday we still
00:46have that
00:47rainfall but it reduces in its severity only 5 to sort of 15 mils is possible and then by Sunday
00:54it's moved across and left the state pretty much alone, light showers in the southwest coast.
01:01Alright, wind though for this front is not very strong, there are not very strong gusts associated
01:07with it. We'll quickly go ahead to the Friday just to show you this is maximum wind gusts,
01:15yeah only very small regions of 40 to 63 kilometers an hour but for the most of it it's moderate
01:20winds.
01:21They'll pick up a bit from the calm stationary start to the week but yeah not crazy wind heavy front.
01:29Let's have a look at the forecast for Perth because that's a lot of where this weather is concentrated
01:34for the week. At the start of the week no rainfall, lows in sort of the low single digits, highs
01:41in the
01:41around the 20 degree area, warms up on Wednesday which is that sort of pre-frontal warming and then
01:49Thursday 5 mils is arriving but that's a range anywhere between 0.5 and 18 mils. Friday is the
01:55concentrated rain 26 mils but anywhere between 5 and 40 and Saturday 5 mils, Sunday 6 mils.
02:03Let's have a quick look at that uncertainty of why we're getting such a large range for the Perth region
02:08anywhere between 0 and 40 mils really. What we can see here, I want to show you each of these
02:14colors
02:14is a different model. All of the models are showing a decent amount of rainfall on the way. We're talking
02:20about a forecast that's six days in advance which already reduces our certainty in it. What the multiple
02:28models show us is that there is this system, it is coming, it does have moisture but because it's so
02:34far away there's a lack of consensus about how much moisture it will deliver in which region. So really we
02:40know that there's a possibility that it could be delivering up to 40 or 50 mils but you know where
02:47it sort of hits in that localized area is what is going to matter with the certainty but there is
02:52rain
02:52coming with a fair amount of moisture behind it. Okay so that's really what's happening with Perth this
02:59week. It's calm, it's stable for most of the state. The north you know same old same old, it's a
03:04nice dry
03:05typical season for the north and down in the south that front is arriving on Thursday and strengthening
03:10on Friday. All right we will see you around and have a great week and stay safe. Bye!
