00:00Hello, good morning, welcome to your latest broadcast from the Met Office and we've had high pressure in charge for well over a week now but it's all changed, low pressure moving in, dominating the weather pattern for at least the next week, bringing showers and longer spells of rain across the UK as well as some stronger winds at times too.
00:19So it's already a wet start this morning across western parts of the UK in particular, Met Office warning out across eastern parts of Northern Ireland through this morning for some localised flooding as heavy rain continues to push north and eastwards, some drier, sunnier spells initially across the east but as we move through the day and into the afternoon rain arriving here.
00:39The rain a little showery in nature but some persistent and quite heavy rain at times over the higher ground as this system pushes north and eastwards and the wind's strengthening as well through the day.
00:50We could see gusts of 30, 35 miles an hour quite widely but around some western coasts perhaps a little stronger than this gales in exposed locations.
00:59Some bright skies following on later on in the afternoon into Northern Ireland, Wales and the West Country but some heavy showers starting to move in here too.
01:08But the wind's coming in from the south, temperatures a little higher for the time of year where we should be so around 14 to 16 Celsius but the strength of the wind and the cloud and rain around it will feel rather cool out there.
01:20Into the evening time this band of rain continues to push north and eastwards, still some heavy bursts in there particularly across Angus into Aberdeenshire for a time but it will clear into Orkney and Shetland as we head into the early hours.
01:32The centre of the low is the centre of the low starting to move in, frequent showers moving in from the west and longer spells of rain.
01:38Don't be surprised if we see the odd lightning strike or rumble of thunder as we move through the night and also staying quite windy particularly in the southwest.
01:47So showers most prevalent towards the southwest, a lot of cloud around here, temperatures around 12 or 13 Celsius but under clearer skies across parts of Scotland dipping into single figures where winds will be lighter here.
01:59So there will be some sunny spells here initially but elsewhere mostly quite cloudy and then bands of showers pushing north and eastwards through the day as this centre of the low just crosses the country.
02:08Showers most frequent across England and Wales, some of these heavy, some thunder in there too.
02:13Lighter wind across Northern Ireland, Northern England, parts of Scotland, still some showers but generally dry through central and northern parts of Scotland with some sunny spells here.
02:23But the rain just slowly starting to clear Shetland remaining quite windy around coasts in the south, particularly along English Channel coastlines with gusts around 30, 35 miles an hour or so.
02:34And temperatures generally in the range of 12 to 15 Celsius.
02:39So low pressure starting to dominate our weather pattern.
